This is a really great song. Makes me feel like I’m that 10 year old who loved this song immediately while listening to it in the car or at the public pool. Love it! ❤
Takes me back to my first winter away at boarding school as a 12-year-old,walking through the rain and slush on the dank green roads trying to find something to amuse me and pass the out-of-school hours. All the music helped me through.
Two 10CC members, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, formed a duo called Godley & Creme and had a worldwide hit in 1985 called "Cry" complete with an astonishing and innovative video.
They also directed a lot of video's for other bands like "Rockit" by Herbie Hancock, "Relax" by Frankie goes to Hollywood, "Girls on film" for Duran Duran, "Every Breath you take" by The Police and "Hip to be square" by Huey Lewis and the News
I agree. I think they've already done that one. Would be great if there was a catalog of all their listens so we could enjoy them, not repeat ourselves, and provide more. Probably asking for too much.
My favorite 10cc song is "Lazy Ways" off their How Dare You! album. I always recommend it when someone reacts to them, but so far I haven't seen it anywhere. The song is kind of quirky and I think Jay and Amber would love it.
Feel The Benefit, One Night In Paris, Baron Somedi, Worst Band In The World, Somewhere In Hollywood, The Hospital Song, Oh Effendi, Don't Hang Up, Oh Donna, Good Morning Judge, You've Got A Cold, Clockwork Creep, I'm Mandy...Fly Me... So many GREAT songs there for a deep dive. I could go on and on...
10cc are a great English rock band from the 70's. This group was super talented as every member was a multi-instrumentalist, singer, writer & producer. "I'm Not In Love" was their biggest hit in 1975 but they had other songs such as "The Things We Do For Love", "Rubber Bullets", "The Dean & I", "The Wall Street Shuffle", "Silly Love", "Life Is A Minestrone", "Art For Art's Sake", "I'm Mandy, Fly Me" etc.
Grew up in a small town. My dad had a work bench in the basement and he was always fixing somebody's toaster or radio or something for them and he never charged anyone for the service. This song would play at least once a day on the radio that sat on his work bench as he worked. Fond memories. Thank you guys for this and all the great videos.
All right my babies.... This song was such a sing-along, my sister and I would skip down the sidewalk singing "Like walking in the rain and the snow" part. Very cool reaction ‼️💯🔥😊
Brings back memories of my childhood. When this song came out in '76 the country was celebrating our bicentennial, many parties and just an overall good patriotic feeling. Everybody seemed much happier back then. Even though I think that year my Dad was laid off from work from a coal miner strike in NEPA and we were on food stamps, and got the good 'ole blocks of cheese ...it was still a great childhood.
This song really grabs me. I love the chord change coming out of the "oooh you make me love you..." part and then another great chord change after "...and you're feelin like a part of you is dying." They also shift from a dreamy kind of sound with the organ to a drier sound emphasizing the guitars. You didn't hear many songs like that on the radio when it came out.
The things we do for love sounds simple, but 10cc was known for their complex vocal layering which is a trademark sound and is clearly present in this song with more listens. An excellent number you haven't heard from 10cc is "I'm Mandy, Fly Me". Another piece that certainly didn't make it onto hit radio, but was on FM "album rock" stations was "Feel the Benefit (Pts. 1, 2 & 3)" which certainly contains a message appropriate for this moment in time. I think its around 10 plus minutes long, but you would do yourselves a favour by listening to it.

Hi, you two! It's Andrew Erroch fae Paisley in Scotland here. I think 10cc is one of the best and most unique bands of all time with so many talented members. You have so much more of them to discover. Another one with love in the title is 'Silly Love'. A lot more power in that one. this was a hit after Kevin Godley and Lol Creme left the band. I can recommend songs Godley and Creme made after that, like 5 o' clock in the Morning, An Englishman in New York, Cry and Under Your Thumb. And if you like Italian food, listen to the 10CC song Life is a Minestrone.
your looking for the answer in her eyes you think your breakup and then she says she wants to make up. 💃 This is a fantastic song. Brings back so many memories back . Throw back Thursday .
I've seen them live twice, in 2015 and 2018 here in Australia, and you get to meet the band afterwards. They are great guys, and it was amazing to meet original band member Graham Gouldman.
Love 10cc. Very creative and talented musicians. Footnote: You can see Pink Floyd live by reacting to any number of songs from the live Pulse concert. They are are even more remarkable to see and hear playing live. I was lucky enough to see them in 1988 duing the "Delicate Sound of Thunder" tour. Astounding!
"A compromise will surely help the situation. Agree to disagree, but disagree to part. When after all its all a compromise for the things we do for love." Yup!
I remember riding the bus to school when I lived in Bakersfield, CA. In 1977and went to school in Greenfield which is a subsidiary of Bakersfield. The driver would play the radio and this song came on a lot. And the song " Blue Bayou".
December 1976 - I was off school with flu. This single was the first single released by 10cc following the departure of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme and I remember it like it was yesterday.
Guys, if you want to see what 10cc bassist Graham Gouldman got up to in the 80s, check out his band "Wax" & the song "Bridge to your heart" - it's a banger!!!
The lead singer, Eric Stewart, went on to work with Paul McCartney on quite a few songs in the early to mid 1980s. Hopefully you'll get to some of those soon.
In the 60s, he was part of ‘Wayne Fontana and the Mind Benders’ When Fontana left to forge a solo career, Eric Stewart stepped up to assume lead vocals on their next single release- the wonderful’Groovy kind of love’
One of the best songs of 10cc. I believe it was done after Godley(drums) and Creme(Guitars, keys) had left the group to form Godley and Creme. I believe the drummer is Paul Burgess and Graham Gouldman(bass) with Eric Stewart (guitars) and lead vocals. 10 cc was one of the most innovative of bands in their earlier years and definately one of my favourites. Please continue to be safe and have a great weekend.
This song takes me back to junior high school when it first came out. So funny how music can take you back in time and the emotions, feelings you had come rushing back to you. It was a very popular song that teenagers played in our school. Still love hearing this song.
It’s weird, I remember when this first came out, used to sing with it on the radio. Haven’t heard this in years and still remember all the words… Great song.. Thanks for bringing it back to life in my head 😎👍🏻
I think I was a preteen when this song first came out, fast forward to recent years like about 3 years ago this song came on the radio and my husband was about the change it, I told him to leave the radio alone, I haven't heard this song in a long time. Of course, he didn't know who the band was, so I told him it's 10CC and it's a good song too. I had to remind him that he heard their other song in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie "I'm not in love" you reacted some months ago. It was a slow song the kid was listening to on his headphones in the first half of the movie. It's a good song and I'm glad you enjoyed the song too! ☮ and 💕
This is probably one of the first singles I remember actually sitting up to listen to properly, when I was a kid, in the mid 70's. The lyrics of which fit like a glove with the tune.
Did you ever do something your own way? I felt good right? ? Marshall Tucker, did it? That around why Marshall Tucker's got a song in my own way. They got Charlie Daniels on their own violence. This was a really good song and all over the radio in the early to mid 80s. "Like walkin' in the rain an' the snow, when there's nowhere to go . . ." What a great lyric.
Another 70's classic! There was so much musical diversity in the early decades. Amy Grant christian pop star, does a pretty good cover for a movie soundtrack.
A couple of the guys from 10cc had some hits as Godley and Creme. I think you'd enjoy Cry. There's also Under Your Thumb and Wedding Bells, both great tunes.
I can see that. It has similar rhythms as the lyrics are delivered. I get a blend of ELO, Little River Band, and Supertramp. Definitely a song that has the 1970's all over it!
This comes form the album "Deceptive Bends", the first album released after the group split. The two that are singing are Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman. The two that left were Lol Creme and Kevin Godley. Four super creative artists could not co-exist in one band. The 4 had been really close before the split, in fact, Lol and Eric's wives were sisters.
First time Commentor long time viewer, the reason why this song has a different vibe to previous songs is 2 of rhe founding members Kevin Godley and Lawrence 'Lol' Creme had left the band, so the two remaining members Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman decided on a different direction. Either way great reaction to a Fantastic band!! 🙏❤️
Ahhh the 70's. Loved 10cc. One of the most influential bands at the time, and all song writers. You need to check out their solo careers or is that duo.
Amber, that shirt is on point. This album was recorded at Strawberry Studios, named because Eric Stewart's (the singer here) favorite song by the Beatles is Strawberry Fields Forever.
You've now done four 10cc songs (I'm not in love, Dreadlock Holiday, Rubberbullets and The Things You Do For Love.) As you seem to be enjoying this band and because they sound so different each song, I suggest you consider the following next: The Wall Street Shuffle, Art for Arts Sake and (my favourite) The Dean and I. A couple of deep cuts I'd suggest are Somewhere in Hollywood (you'll adore this) and The Worst Band in The World (very clever...maybe too clever).
Im 54 and ive been dealing with depression for the last six years and I had checked myself into a mental health facility a few years ago and there was a younger woman in there that i became friends with and for some reason she knew this song and we would sing it everyday and now whenever i hear this song i think of her.
YEEEEESSSSS!!!! Turns out I remember 95% of this song even though I haven't heard it in YEARS! A total knee-jerk reaction. I just started singing along. I wasn't even trying. It just came out. And the few words I didn't know, were ones I never knew.
Thanks, Squad! A super-talented band.. and they were also amazing live.. don't know if you've already done it, but "I'm Not in Love".. is great... (you keep saying this is "slow" which makes me thing haven't heard "Not in Love"...) mainly a very talented BAND... appreciate your reactions...
This was released when I was 25 and hearing it again I’ve gone back in time 45 years. Loved 10cc. “I’m not in love” is very worth looking into please 🙏
Great band. Great tune. We did one of our "things we do for love" today. Cruising the mountains looking for trees changing color. Had a nice chat, of course, in the car. Thanks.
It's awesome to hear you say that you are a rock kind of guy! Your first video you proclaimed that you hated Rock and had no interest until you watched thunderstruck. Lmao! I was born in 1971 and I literally cut my teeth on the Beatles. I learned from a very young age to appreciate greatness like The Rolling Stones, Queen, Led Zeppelin and Heart. With all of these great bands in mind I literally put this song in my personal top 50 of all time!
Bassist Graham Gouldman was a prolific and highly successful songwriter in his own right, particularly in the 60's/'70's. He wrote hits for the Yardbirds, (whose members included Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page), Hermans Hermits, the Hollies, Ohio Express, among many others. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2014.
It's amazing how Americanized this song by 10cc was. I never knew until now that it was the same lead singer who sang the iconic "I'm Not In Love." That just blows my mind.
I’ve always loved this song. “Like walking in the rain and the snow and there’s nowhere to go and you’re feeling like a part of you is dying”. 😄🤘❤

Music of the 70's was so amazing . If you want to see a later version of the singers of 10CC, check out the video of "Cry" by Godley and Creme.
Love 10cc. They had their own sound, it was good. Amber, great hair! Thanks for the smile.
I've loved this song ever since it was first released.
" I'LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS "- GIANT 1989 ROCK SONG . Another 80s gem that you'll enjoy for sure. Rock N Roll Classics
Love this band. Please do a reaction to "I'm Mandy, Fly me".
Would like to see you both review the 1980's group "The Cars ". I loved them growing up. This is Michael Doran from New Zealand
Ahhh the 70's. Loved 10cc. One of the most influential bands at the time, and all song writers. You need to check out their solo careers or is that duo.
Imagine growing up in the 70s and 80s and these songs are constantly on the radio slowly being drilled into your head!
Miss those days!
This brings back some really wonderful memories. Thanks for reacting to this song!
"Communication is the problem to the answer". Great line.
Amber, that shirt is on point. This album was recorded at Strawberry Studios, named because Eric Stewart's (the singer here) favorite song by the Beatles is Strawberry Fields Forever.
JOHN STEWART ft. Stevie Nicks - Gold (1979) HD 👍👍👍
Awesome choice Jay and Amber. One of my favorite yacht music tunes. Another you should react to is We Just Disagree by Dave Mason.
Great suggestion 🥰
I love how open you guys are to new tracks.
❤❤❤ "I'M NOT IN LOVE"❤❤❤❤ IS THEIR BEST TUNE👍👍👍👍👍
A group who had there own albums and wrote songs for groups and music videos and Art great music great live act
🥰🥰🥰
Love Amber's hair.
Thanks.
Sweet 🥰, ! That's what life is all about ❤️
It's awesome to hear you say that you are a rock kind of guy!
Motown 60's vibe behind the melody, music and the background vocals. Cool.
Bassist Graham Gouldman had success before 10CC. He wrote a bittersweet song called "Pamela Pamela" that was a 1967 hit for Wayne Fontana.
10cc was basically a group created out of 2 writing teams, Stewart and Gouldman along with Godley and Creme.
