I’m imagining a story for the character in the game where this is the actual emergency procedure for crash landing on a planet that he is running through and there is some drill sergeant out there yelling at someone, “MINE THAT STONE! BUILD ONE HUNDRED STONE FURNACES! MOVE IT!”
Imagine being a biter, seeing some dude crash into your planet and having his ship destroyed & being left with nothing only for him to leave again in a self build rocket not even one and a half hour later...

This guy finished the game quicker than I got a full yellow belt of steel on my first playthrough
i was still on iron furnace column on my first hour of my first playthrough...
To be fair, the speedrun doesn't get a full yellow belt of steel either. Just a bunch of half-belts. The closest it gets to a full belt of steel is I believe around purple science with around 70% of 1 belt of steel.

Even though I understand everything going on, the speed at which everything is done and how meticulously everything must've been planned out is just astounding.

We see trupen on many Factorio comment sections. Man knows the entire Factorio UA-cam and instantly goes there to comment. It's a good thing, boosting engagement in Factorio videos and "promoting" himself.

How everything builds up to that Lab setup at the start is really incredible. All planned ahead and applied beautifully.
The line between genius and insanity is blurred. One could easily confuse the base for spaghetti, but what lies within is an unbelievably optimized creation

good grief. the precision and speed are amazing. just the rapid-fire accurate placement of inserters on the early-game smelting stacks blew me away.
The APM is so much it was more than enough to entertain me for the WHOLE video. You rarely see videos so good that they run for hours and you don't feel the time going by

true. Any% speedrun in Factorio is allowed to setting map parameters including seed.

Yeah there's more than a little optimizing within the rules on map seed. Must technically have biters on, but can find a seed and limited map size that has no biter bases within the map for example. And the crazy good ore patches, etc.
This is still absolutely wild even with the best imaginable map.

I can also imagine that the map is actually edited to contain the ores and ratios. and to the person saying biters must be on, if it's any% I'd imagine you can turn off biters entirely

After I watched this, I walked my dogs 2 miles in 15 minutes. Absolutely mad. I got lost after blue science. Don’t know how you can keep track of everything.

@@guy3717 when I started to play Factorio, there weren't any achievements and people were discussing if you can complete the game in a day, and yea, there is an achievement for sub 8 hours
@@SirBalageG Ahhh makes sense. Really cool how far its come in that context. I know the devs have done a ton of balancing and changes, were there any big ones that also brought the time down? Or is it basically just game knowledge and execution?
@@guy3717 to be honest with you, I never really followed game development and world records, maybe just in the recent years, but I believe it was optimization on the players' sides with better blueprints and strategy for a faster start

It depends on if you want to enjoy the game with building nice bases, or you want to finish the game by lunching the Rocket to the space.
