I love how Yamada can't stop her feelings for him. The control she has over Ichikawa is crazy. She left Hara to run with Ichikawa even though she promised to run by Hara's side. She intentionally swapped their sweaters and even smelled his. She wanted to "check" each other's heights and acted like the thing got stuck so she could use her hands to "check" his height when, in fact, she just wanted to pat his head and for him to do the same thing to her. The difference between her mood when talking to others and talking to him is so wholesome. She wants him to watch her movie. She brought him inside that storage room and kept him between her legs. Her jelly mode is also cute. Ichikawa's line has the maximum level of unintentional rizz. Ichikawa breaking out of his shell inspires me a lot. The way he cares for Yamada is so sweet. I want a relationship Ichikawa and Yamada have. Thank you for the reaction! I'm glad to see you enjoy this series.
Probably one of my favorite parts of this series is how realistic the character progression is for our two main characters. Ichikawa starts out withdrawn and “hating” everything, and can barely speak to Yamada, but by this point he’s having fun conversations with her and has let his guard down enough that he’s making snippy comebacks and letting his true thoughts leak out more. Yamada on the other hand has become more self-conscious, her mood and confidence changes depending on how she interacts with Ichi. She’s not the same semi-eccentric girl who mostly marched to the beat of her own drum. They’re both at that stage where they’re getting more vulnerable with each other, and it’s absolutely adorable.
Was waiting for this. Thanks for the reaction. He fall for her first but she fall for him harder. What's so special about this series is that you really didn't know at what point Yamada fall for him, it's so natural and makes it so hard to noticed it.
She was looking at him right from the first scene. I suspect that she already likes something about him (her best friend is a shortie, maybe that's her thing?), so she's been eyeballing him in class for a while. So by the time the bike incident happens and she laughs at his lame joke she was already probably liking him. But yeah.. not sure where she went from "comfortable/friend" mode to "falling for him, chasing him" mode.. The specific perspective only knowing Ichikawa's thoughts lets us be surprised by her.
I really like the gradual build. I've generally thought the drawing of the picture of her was the first major turning point, given how she was thinking about it so hard that she was staring at him during the basketball game and got hit in the face. I think she did like him and felt comfortable with him prior to that, but that's where her fondness goes to another level.
Author released a "timeline" of sorts of what each of them thought of the other person. It says Ichikawa fell for her at the basketball-nose event but as we viewers know, Ichikawa obv liked her before that so it's def just showing when he realized he liked her. Yamada's was on the milktea event so if we apply the same logic as with Ichikawa, then she was def in love with him before that. I say she fell for him during the tissue scene when she immediately realized it was him who left them since she recognized his handwriting. This is supported by her becoming incredibly clingy all of a sudden after that event.
I think swapped places meant the dynamic of their relationship. Before it was mostly him pursuing her (unintentionally, but subconsciously always wary of her) and now its obvious she's going out of her way to "pursue" him (but also being wary of his gaze and her overall awareness of his presence, which early on she wasn't) I think this episode is highlighting the turning point of Yamada's feelings. Earlier our MC acknowledged he likes her, and now i think this is where she recognized her own feelings (in such a cute way i might add) #PEAKinmyHeart
tbf it'll be awhile before he really acknowledges her feelings... spoilers when Pick-up senpai asks Yamada out much later on (he was graduating from junior high school and so would be separated from Yamada for the forseeable future) she politely rejects him because she already has feelings for someone else... Now here's the thing; Ichikawa heard the entire exchange (and guessed what Pick-up senpai was going to say) and once she stated that she had feelings for someone else, he almost immediately realised that she liked him Ironically, both Pick-up senpai and Adachi-kun take notice of Ichikawa's and Yamada's feeling for one another and the latter says something along the lines of this to Ichikawa: "If Yamada had feelings for you, even if you were a bad person, I'd probably end up hating her too!" They seem like love rivals, but once they take a step back and look at Yamada and Ichikawa, they actually start rooting for him!
regarding the movie.. Yamada was less hype earlier at the episode because her classsmates was talking about who she's working with and NOT about her role. Ichi on the other hand asker her about her role in the movie, that is when she became happy and talked about it with him.
Part of the fun of watching/reading this series is realizing that Yamada is actually the one with "Dangers" in her heart lmao. She can't fucking control herself.
On the time of the injury Yamada cried and had all that sadness because one of her things is that she is always trying to portray herself as an adult, always trying to act adult, maybe because of the show biz she wants to belong. But when that happened, the mother and manager treated like "oh it happens with kids" so she was mostly upset becaus nof that. Now this episode I think it is was Ichikawa thought. Everyone was commenting on the movie and other actors but noone asked about her role, just Ichikawa, and of course probably she was more hyped to comment with him anyway, which adds.
This is my favorite episode of this show, so far as we can tell how Yamada fell hard for Ichikawa through her actions. I mean, from the track field to the jacket swap to the height measuring thing, she did it all on purpose. Also, I really love when Ichikawa is gesturing to Yamada that she's wearing his jacket, and she was like "Yeah, so what?"
No girl will ever have you between her legs if she wasn't into you He's just too far into denial to realize something like that, but i was a pretty dense kid too, so i can't really complain
hmm the line situation was more part of him not being dense but rather he refuse the fact someone like yamada wants his line contact. I mean he realized it later on right away. If anything he is dense is that one scene during episode 6 of yamada waiting for him tbh. Also Yamada could have ask him directly to give her Line right away lol they both not straightforward(especially ichikawa) but atleast yamada did he initiative.
In case you still wondering, she was sad because everyone around her was talking about the movie but not about her role, so when ichikawa asked her about it she felt acknowledged

Oh so that's why she sounded disappointed when ichikawa used the thing instead of his hand to measure her height 😂
@@proximitive3872 Yes, I just noticed stuff I see the community point out, so I'm glad to do the same.

17:12 I got the impression it was because no one was interested in asking what her role would be in the film, but rather who was in the film.

I always took the Dangers to be the self doubt and anxiety that Ichikawa has.
