I love SO many parts of this episode:
- The fact Yamada was practicing her smile while waiting for Ichikawa
- The way Yamada hyped herself up before introducing herself to Ichikawa's parents
- The whole "double prayer" thing
- Ichikawa's sister and Yamada pressuring him to say Yamada's first name
- How Yamada scooched closer to Ichikawa when looking at his yearbook.
Like, the mangaka KNOWS how to make these two adorable. 🥰🥰
The keychain put in the second button of the uniform is a significant thing cause in Japanese culture
On graduation day at junior high or high schools, a male graduate may give the second button on his school jacket to a female student.
It is usual for a female junior to ask the senior male student she likes for his button. If the male student likes her too, he may give her his button.
Some popular male students may receive many requests from female students, but he will give his second button to the girl he likes the the most, and the other buttons to the other girls.
The significance of the second button is that it is located closest to one’s heart.

- Pointing that Ichikawa was always sitting next to a teacher on the school photos is because most of the times, the ones sitting close to the teacher are the ones with the best grades.
Damn and I love the sister here, noticing how much Yamada is into him and playing the wingwoman here effortlesly hahahaha. Just amazing series and Season 2 confirmed, lets go!!!!!

This series started with a fake chuuni who's introverted and weird, and with a girl who does nothing more than eat hahaha I remember when the very first ep came out, some people really felt cringe bc of it 🤣 Me as well, I started to read the manga and in 10 chapters I wanted to stop, but then I was like "you know what? Let's just try a little more", and I know this might be controversial, but when I got up to date (last chapter was 114-115 at the time, IIRC), my FIRST THOUGHT was "this is Nagatoro level or even better". It's really incredible how a series can grow so much over the time. Both MCs are S-tier level and it's SO HARD to find a series with "mature" MCs like that nowadays (I know they are still imature in certain areas, but to their age, they're SUPER mature and conscious of what to do with their feelings).
The final hug scene was, honestly, 10x better than a lot of kisses that happen in other anime. The way Ichikawa opens up about how she is the motive he's started to enjoy things, like....she IS THE VERY REASON that this man was able to change (he even got another friend bc of her - Moeko). She's not only the person he likes, she's basically his savior, in a sense. When he looks at the books and say "this was my shield - to push people away", and immediately Yamada hugs him, and scene focus on the books in the ground, like saying "I don't need this shield anymore. I don't need defenses anymore, bc she is here with me"....simply perfect. Like I said, a kiss couldn't represent all that imo.
PS: For anyone who's curious, this episode adapted chapter 57, so if you want to continue it's chapter 58 onwards (but I will say tho read chapter 57. They didn't adapt the extra at the end of it, and it's really good lol)

I agree with this; had they kissed before establishing some sort of relationship beyond simply being friends; it'd end up being very awkward for the both of them, so it's definitely better for them to hug instead and to show that Ichikawa is genuinely enjoying his time with Yamada, because for someone like Ichikawa, he needs to feel comfortable around Yamada before anything else can happen... we see in previous episodes (particularly ep 9) that while he knows that he loves Yamada; he'll misinterpret certain things for the worst in order to prevent himself from getting his hopes up, he'll think "If you know you cannot have something, it's better not to try in the first place"... their growth in the anime and manga is meant to be slow and natural, and we the audience need to see their growth firsthand, from first contact, to becoming good friends... to their first kiss and so on...
for example; they don't magically meet one day on a rainy day, resulting in the MC lending the girl his umbrella (like in The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten... though that show is amazing too)
I chose that example because while that anime is a great love story; it has been stated in the LN a few times before that had the Amane not lent Mahiru his umbrella and/or remembered to warm himself up later in the day; he never would have caught a cold and thus never would have had a reason to make first contact with Mahiru... translation; that was basically the only chance Amane had to connect with Mahiru without his fellow classmates turning on him... and even then he wasn't expecting Mahiru to actually repay him for helping her in her time of need
But in Dangers In My Heart; Ichikawa commonly spends his spare time at school in the library, which is also where Yamada goes to eat her snacks... in this scenario; it was inevitable that they'd find each other eventually

I think the reason Yamada pushed Ichikawa away was because it was unintentional AND poor guy would have a hard time getting back up with a fractured hand. He thought he messed up his relationship, but she was quick to reassure him in the next few secs. Such a great couple

Yeah, i remember how this anime keep me smiling for like 20 minutes straight everyweek. Those two moments is just so wholesome. It's also feels very natural not forced like some other series. We know that Ichikawa fell for Yamada at eps.3 but how about Yamada? Can you actually guess it, what episode or what moment she fell for him? Also i like how this anime keep every little detail that you wouldn't notice unless you rewatched it. Simply Peak. 10/10.
