    That’s basically Paul for you . Not a lot of utility but the stuff he got does it’s job more than enough . Wall is very important for him since his combos do very underwhelming damage without it . Also if you connect a ch qcf3 just roll with a simple demoman I’ve seen some of the best Paul players including knee and justice (drop more often than not) that ws3 combo after.

    • @PeterYMao
      @PeterYMao  3 роки тому +7

      I've seen Knee and Justice land the WS+3 combo pretty consistently, maybe not 100% of the time, but at least something like 75% of the time they land it.

    Been maining Paul since Tekken 6,
    He's pretty good in Tekken 7 though honestly in spite of his strengths, I think one thing that some players don't mention is how predictable he can become in high level play. His linearity and high risk options become quite the liability when the opponent has a very good read on your habits (which I will admit as a Paul main, the habits become pretty quick to read for most of us). He does sometimes feel sluggish for some of his moves too, but timing is key. Otherwise, he's good as he needs to be, the only one thing I wish they'd add is his old B1,2 punish from T6 and Tag 2 to dissuade crouching opponents, and to make his shredder kicks follow up actually useful in some meaningful way.
    Solid guide mate.

    • @PeterYMao
      @PeterYMao  3 роки тому +2

      I think predictability is something perhaps that players need to mix up, and not necessarily a weakness of the character. You could think of Paul as another Bryan type character who gets rewarded most for landing counter hits, and whiff punishment, but with sluggish moves. None the less, thanks for your comments ReapingRose :)

      Yes, I miss that move so much. It was a great mid move and really used to help me stop some annoying strings from my opponent and things like that. Paul's b1, 2 is great but...

    I’ve just started learning Paul... and I’m amazed how easy he is to pick up as his base move set hasn’t really changed much over the years and execution is very simple...
    I’ve plateaued at True Tekken God with my main Feng and feel I need to expand my horizons as I’ve never really used any other characters since Tekken 5.
    I used to play him back in the old days of Tekken 1-4 so he seemed like a good secondary character to learn...
    Main thing I’m struggling with is his stubby range and closing gaps... trooper roll mix ups are good but it feels cheap and a decent opponent soon shuts it down lol

    Yes, yes I did find this guide quite well made and quite informative, even though I'm not an advanced enough player yet to start taking frame data into account WHILE playing (I can do it in retrospect, but while playing? Holy jesus no shot), I still found the guide relatively easy to understand and it helped me feel Paul out a bit, even though I've already forgotten a lot of the vid because of the sleep-deprived state I am in, I'll remember once I actually use him online.

      3,2 immediately tap back and then 4. It shouldn’t be that hard. I’m not sure where the difficulty of it lies for you.

      @@PeterYMao man is it really possible to play all characters
      You have fundamentally hard characters like lee bryan Steve Mishimas Jin law Paul etc
      Complex characters like lei hworang ling Yoshi again Steve again lol stance heavy characters
      Execution heavy characters take a lot of time to play well
      Complex characters take a lot of time to understand them lol
      Add in a massive roster and yeah 10 years or more to play them all lol

    Great video i just wish you included common flowcharts so that people would avoid them and i didn't understand why ch magic 4 made to the list as a key move

    • @PeterYMao
      @PeterYMao  3 роки тому

      I wouldn't add magic 4 to the list because I think so many characters have them that people naturally stumble onto them. As for common flowcharts, that would be a separate type of video. This videos is already 20+ minutes, and it's a guide on how to play Paul, not a how to counter Paul video.

    • @ozimantv
      @ozimantv 3 роки тому

      @@PeterYMao Well i guess you are right on this one.I was thinking showing common flowcharts in a sense that avoid over doing these to not be predictable.I meant avoid them as in paul players avoiding them.Bcs in my opinion it is one of the most important aspects for beginners not to over use flowcharts.Anyway as always good video keep it up m8 !

    Lee bb+4: 19f high, +2 on block, good range, homing, NH launch = rare move

      It's honestly cool to see you explaining things about characters or stuff about Tekken from first person p.o.v. I'm really a fan. You're a genius. You excel in multiple types of intelligence. Sorry for putting you on the spot but I just felt like I had to let you know because people recognize those traits. They say good deeds don't go forgotten. But the good deed that you're doing is setting up an example. My grandmaster's motto and even the name of his dojo was "one way" and I think you might not know that you are on that 'path'. You're cool as heck. I appreciate you and your work. Thanks.
