PLEASE! Paint more of these!! The most difficult thing with this army is not picking a color scheme, it's HOW to make the color scheme work on the army, especially for new painters. More schemes and tutorials on how to make colors work is SO VALUABLE to me and many others!
a year later and im starting a seraphon army. This still stands. I like the colors ive picked but its so hard to figure out how i want things to play together. I want them to all be similar color schemes but while still differentiating species. Or like my skinks, finding a way to make it lore-like with them all looking different, but still uniform to a certain degree
Definitely would love to see more colour schemes for them! Not a big fan of the standard blue scheme myself, so seeing these has made my day love to see more!
I absolutely loved this video, very solid takes on both the Coalesced and Starborne aesthetics, although I admit I'm more partial to your red Starborne here (it's both unique and so cool!). I will cast an additional vote imploring you to do a Vanguard/Starter Set video when that's possible MOAR SCHEMES please :)
Goddamnit Henry. Now I really want some Lizardmen! Also, can I just say I love the CoP videos as you give us so many principals to use in other ways. Super easy to use this method for other colours and like you said, demons and the like too.
It’s like you are a mind reader. As you were painting the Necro Gold I thought “do you apply a wash to it” and you immediately said “no washes here”, lol!
4:25 in my testing I have found the contrast medium to be quite matt; much more matt that the contrast paints themselves. So matt in fact that it can matt down a glossy ink even in a ratio of 2 ink to 1 contrast medium.
Question! What did you prime with, and what was the black you put on the weapons/back spikes? I didn't see it mentioned and don't see it on the paints list. I am guessing Wraithbone Primer and then the black is either Abbadon or Chaos? But I would just like clarification. Thanks!
These look amazing, I always want just a single miniature so that I can copy your paint jobs. It would also be cool to see a star lizard style blue skin across the underbelly as well with maybe a muted scale colour. As far as the Vanguard box, I would happily watch and enjoy the videos, but IMO I would prefer more of these videos where you show how to easily paint effective army paint schemes. Really enjoy the content and the delivery regardless.
I just got into the hobby and my first army is the Seraphon. Please do more Seraphon! The vanguard box would be wonderful but could you do the Spawn of Chotec as well?
would love to see you tackle a vanguard! the sisters combat patrol project was awesome and seeing more of these models and the approach to more organic shapes and advanced use of contrast type paints would be really cool!!!
Damn these are cool! Altough I like the green more. I think a kinda more "realistic" look on these new modells looks absolutely fabulous and superior (I blame Miniac's seraphon paint).
Please stop this! These look absolutely fantastic and now I have to buy a load of Seraphon models that I wasn’t even interested in before I saw this video. It’s the FIFTH time you’ve done this to me Henry - you’re killing me man…. (Well, you’re killing my wallet and my storage space anyway). Seriously though dude, absolutely frickin love your army colour schemes - keep up the great work! (I can stop spending money when I’m dead, right?! 😂).
With spearhead coming out, I would love to see more Seraphon videos, particularly the kroxigor or krox Warspawned models! I'd like to use armypainter speedpaints or contrast to paint them up quickly, and seeing your take on those would be brilliant!
What about the black parts like the spear shaft or the claws, did you work something else on them appart from a black base coat?? They look amazing, congratulations!
Love your work, saw you at gd but you guys were getting swamped. Got to see your amazing dreadnought just before you put him away :) congrats to Andy on his trophy
Thanks for the tutorial, Henry, they really do look great! For the first scheme, if you don't do the first coat with the airbrush, how would you do that base coat with the brush? Just omit it and start straight with the thinned out Plaguebearer Flesh over Wraithbone? Or thin the Plaguebearer even more for the first coat and then go in with a second to give it some more shading? Oh and yes, do more Seraphon and Age of Sigmar in general! :D
Hi Martin, either straight over the wraithbone, or mix the 2 and basecoat it. I tried it without the airbrush layer and the difference isnt huge, i just preferred the look and speed.
Your video is actually insane, but can you tell me plz the color you use for the black line on the red saurus scales ? Very impressive job, good work !!!
I have a question for the green one. On the first Plaguebearer base coat, when you're saying it's not necessary to airbrush it, do you mean this first coat isn't necessary, or do you mean I should do it with a regular brush ? If it's the 2nd option, how would you have it so flat and not going in the recesses like the contrast paints do ? Amazing job on both of these! Definitely going to use the green one on my army!
I like the flat coat it gives you. To get that without the airbrush you’d ideally want to mix up a similar colour from a normal acrylic, basically a green off white. Then base coat with that. I don’t think it makes a massive difference, but I prefer it to going straight in with the contrast paint.
Seraphon video's get an instant click from me, so please paint a Vanguard box when GW releases one. Even better if you can turn the box into a motley crew of colourful dinosaurs.
I've been rewatching this video over and over as I prepare myself to paint Mt saurus in that beautiful green scheme. And I'm interested in the way you pour your contrast paint out onto your wet pallette whilst using your brush. Is there a reason for this? Does the paint not run into the ferrule of the brush?
I love both these schemes, and I feel like trying out both! The only paint I don’t have from the ones you used is Dreadful Visage. Is there an alternative you think could work out?
i'm just using my old paint sceme i have used since playing lizardmen in fantasy. :) black body with red scales. :) for the crest it variates in yellow, orange and red. for the dinoes different colors from real lizards. :)
Really love the colour schemes particularly the yellow/green one. Looking at a colour wheel, I can see why it works so beautifully. Moving from the Yellow, to the Yellow-Green, to the Green with pops of Teal/Turquoise is very pleasing. I'd love to use these same idea but sticking more closely to the box art Turquoise/Blues (maybe even Indigo/Purple) but the progression is so much more dark and boring. Is there a way to make it from the realms of Aethermatic Blue to Luxion Purple? I tried and my test models looked ghastly. Modulates from light to dark but no interesting shift in hue.
Thanks. Yes, the half step you used in the second color scheme seems like a good idea. I'm just so fixated on the hue progression you used for the first scheme, I'm trying to come up with my own that works as well. Really excellent contrast color selection and application.
i love the lizardmen, they were my army back during the fantasy battle days. too bad i don't care for age of sigmar because these are very nice saurus warriors
@@cultofpaint lol!!!! They’re SUCH nice models. In fact maybe the nicest models in GW I’ve ever bought (for non command units anyway). Both of the head sculpts are amazing and the poses are all very nice too. Hoping the new Leviathan launch doesn’t mean they get overlooked, as nice as the new models in that are too.
I have a similar color scheme of the red style, but how did you make the red scales blend well with the white skin? I'm using Rakarth Flesh for the skin (Wasn't happy with how Skeleton Horde was looking) and the red (Blood Angels Red) feels too stark comopared to yours on the arms. Great video!
Extremely well done! I'm very intrigued by the metals. So gorgeous, shiny but still muted. Especially the weapons, shield and armor. I have tried to duplicate it multiple times, but it seems my metals just ends out extremely dark and muted. Are there any tips you can give? Btw, thank you for bringing scale75 up on my radar. Absolutely gorgeous colours.
@@cultofpaint it seems that it could be the light setting on my phone causing the video to look different 😅 My armor still seems dark compared to my shield, but I will continue to fiddle around with it. Thanks again for this video
I’m looking to get back into Warhammer after 8 years. I still have my old tomb raider army and I was so sad to see them fade from existence in Age of Sigmar so I’m thinking of getting into Seraphon. I’m thinking a washed out orange for the skin and deep green for the scales with red accents kinda like they would blend into a lush alien rainforest. Would it be smart to start with a pack of skinks to test out my style and get my painting skills back before I commit to a starting pack army?
How much did you thin down the Flesh Tearers Red for the scales in your first layer? it looks really thin and from my experience its a really strong color. Looks perfect here though!
Hi, love your videos, i have one question though. After you put the coat of flesh tearers red the model suddenly gets very dark, i am unsure how you got this effect? is it multiple layers of flesh tearers?
Yes I would be painting these in batches of 5-10. I leave the contrast until it looks dry, the. Hit it with a hairdryer for a few seconds then move on. If I was working on 5 then chances are by the time I've done the coat on the 5th then the 1st will be good to go.
@cultofpaint I'm very tempted with the second saurus warriors paint theme, it's incredible. Were all your contrast sections just a once over or multiple layers? Especially on the Gryph-hound and flesh tearer?
With painting in sub assemblies, do you paint one side of the shield, wait for it to dry and then just flip it and paint the underside? I was going to try and put my shields on a different Cork and pin them, but there's not a lot of plastic to them, and now I'm wondering if it is necessary.

100% would watch a vanguard box of seraphon being painted up bang up jobs these
The new Seraphon models are gorgeous. They're excellent canvasses to go crazy on and stuff like washes and contrast paints take to them wonderfully.
The problem with Lizardmen is there are so many interesting colour options, I find it's impossible to choose one.
Don't choose, make a different colour scheme for each regiment 😊
You don't have to choose. Every spawning has its own color, you can just paint individual squads as separate Spawnings.
I can find just one 😊
make a different color scheme for each spawn (regiment) then :)
and make Heroes another color :)
God me too man
Really love these, please please please do an army box when they come out. They are loads of fun to watch
i could watch you paint lizardmen for hours! :D both schemes look amazing
Hours you say!!??
