@ShawnNix I won't buy an e.v. The range and time to charge is not realistic for a primary use vehicle. I work in the auto industry. Hybrids usually make sense to me, not forcing fully electric on consumers.
The Prelude was always used as a harbinger of future technology that would eventually trickle down to Accord and Civic decades ago. It was one of the first models with variable valve timing, anti-lock brakes, electronic fuel injection, double wishbone suspension, and four wheel steering, all of which became signature features in several Acura models. It makes sense that any novel or innovative technology they debut on this will eventually make its way to other Hondas.
One of the exciting things about Prelude was the interior design. Especially the flat top dashboard. Unfortunately they dropped that design feature on the 97 and later models. It actually looks like Tesla took a cue from the interior design of the 92-94 Prelude. I hope they take interior design seriously on this new one. Car owners spend more time looking at the interior than the exterior

Perhaps its wishful thinking, but I'm still holding out hope that perhaps it ends up being a Hybrid of some sort. Dream would be starting with the Type R/ TypeS's 2.0T and an electric rear axle. My reasoning is in looking at the side profile. Its absolutely got FWD proportions. And no one (including Honda) thinks that FWD profile looks the best. They do whatever they can to stretch out the front end even when it is an FWD based car. So to have FWD proportions on an EV, theres gotta be a reason. Even Honda top brass has come out saying that EVs aren't the future, at least not all EVs and not yet. So call it wishful thinking but I'm still holding out hope that this ends up being a Hybrid with an MT.
Sadly Honda will disappoint you as always. Integra Type S costs $52k and that if you can find one at MSRP. This will be at least 45k with slow ass EV engine.
This will be a hybrid, Japanese automakers are less into full electrification thank goodness. So by the time this hits the market I’m sure the GR86 and BRZ will be hybridized too
The last gen prelude was such a great design. It completely came out of left field to not look like anything like a Honda. The only drawback was that was front wheel drive and it looked like a rear wheel drive sports car. I think this is a missed opportunity
Have you seen all the Preludes over the decades? The 5th gen look pretty similar to the exterior and interior design of all the previous iterations, except the 4th gen. The 4th gen is the most nonPrelude design you’ll see. And unfortunately Honda is using that for the 6th gen for inspiration, it’s obviously clear from the rear and look at that font type, only found on the back of the 4th gen =\
I see some areas where is has 4th gen Prelude feels. The front snout/hood. The swoopy rounded lines. Even the rear glass/trunk/bumper gives off vibes that make me feel this car could be related. I do agree that given current Honda styling cues, they could have really nailed a modern 3rd/5th gen car, but I don't hate this. The platform coming back and being successful and having the proper dynamics and performance are the most important things. It guarantees a 7th gen and future possiblities.
Totally agree with you on the 4th gen similarity and I do hate it since the 4th gen was the most dissimilar to all the other Prelude designs. As it Honda couldn’t just get rid pop up headlights with completely going off the rails with the design. The 5th gen was gorgeous and doesn’t look a 25+ yr old car today
@@mirullah1003 agreed. The 5th gen is one of those timeless designs. Still, I’m happy to have this car in hopes of even better things in the future. I really want to see this nameplate succeed and grow.

Thank you Honda! I've been bugging them for a new coupe ever since discontinuing the Accord coupe in 2017, and then making the Integra four door. It's even prettier than I hoped. I love that it's a true coupe and they didn't give into the ugly fastback trend. I'll be happy if they leave it just like this. I think it's perfect.
I currently own a ‘15 Accord coupe and it’s such a great car and great looking for what it is! I agree, I might not love some specific details about the front end of this, but if it’s goes to market at a decent price, this would go on my list!
Seeing My Uncles Red 1989 Prelude Si 4WS pull up to My House at 5 years old and seeing the rear wheels turn is what made me a Car Enthusiast! I’ve owned a 95 Si & a 01 SH that I got at 17 in 2006 and I still I drive today. I’ve waited so long for this! It makes perfect sense to bring Prelude back! I hope it has optional 2.0T with 6 speed manual and LSD in true Prelude fashion. I don’t believe this will be EV only..
The design is nice. if the range is good, the performance is acceptable, the price is affordable (sub 40k), and they use NACS, I will defo buy this car 👍
I love the design! I've been waiting for a 2+2 electric coupe. If it has at least 250-300 miles of range, over 200 horsepower, and costs under $50k, I might get one. It'll definitely be cheaper than the luxury, electric Genesis X coupe halo car.
Let's get an Acura Type S version of this and I will immediately go buy it. 100% I also think this will still be front wheel bias if its AWD, especially if a SH-AWD Acura version is made
While I'm glad the Prelude is coming back, I kinda wish it wasn't an EV. Honda has an excellent 2.0L turbo from the Civic Type R and a V6 Turbo from the TLX Type S that it could've developed the Prelude for.

I lot of comments seem negative comparing it to others or saying it’s generic isn’t that what we want? If they explore to far out from what’s selling today it’s gonna look strange and won’t fit in. I think playing it safe for the prelude was smart and truthfully I like the minimal approach
I agree with making it more retro, a 4th gen front end with a 5th gen rear would look amazing. If this car comes with a manual hybrid then I will buy one for sure. Loved the comment about how the sides look like the accord coupes, I love those cars.

I think they will, maybe after launch if not initially. An ICE driving front with a motor driving the rear isn’t far fetched. But it adds weight which is hard to shed
Hard to segment this. Growing up my parents both drove prelude’s as a commute car (yes we had two prelude) 1985. It was an option over the accord for a little sportiness with out breaking the bank. But not enough to complete with the likes of Supra, Nisan z. But the prelude was enough to drive comfortably every day. Now with the civic si and type r, and integra. This market is tight now. Maybe a prelude roadster, 2+2 convertible, something different. But it will be great if Honda can bring prelude back. Might take some time on their end.

There's a lot of FK Civic Coupe along with some Acura cues. But it needs more Prelude and less generic style. A performance variant would be called SH in keeping with the Prelude theme. Good effort.
Prelude is exciting and I hope to see it in North America. I prefer the red car in the background though. It wont make it to North America but I think it could outsell Mini.
It's a beautiful car. When I was young, a neighbor had a red prelude and it was sexy lol. I think those that wanted something like this were buying the accord coupe ex-l.. But the prelude always seemed more luxurious. Nice to see it back. I'd like to see more smooth and sexy suvs but alas... Seems you have to go luxury like audi or Porsche for that.

Has some CR-Z, Civic & Accord coupe all in one look. With a simi flat trunk retro design related to the previous generations. Hope its RWD or AWD some reports are saying it's a hybrid and not fully electric.
There's a lot of FK Civic Coupe along with some Acura cues. But it needs more Prelude and less generic style. A performance variant would be called SH in keeping with the Prelude theme. Good effort.
Whether fully electric or hybrid, it better not be front wheel drive only. But knowing honda I wont hold my breath
I love this Design. And I Hope they still use FWD + 4WS + ATTS in the New Prelude.
This would be a really fun city car. They did a great job with this
It’s a fastback coupe! These are the cars that made Honda great in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s still a winning formula
Great collaboration you two.
Hybrid sports coupe is pretty niche, but theres none out there. I'd love that!
I love it; I'd buy one. It would be a nice addition to my '22 SI
Prelude is exciting and I hope to see it in North America. I prefer the red car in the background though. It wont make it to North America but I think it could outsell Mini.
I want this to have a hatchback design. To me it has the shape like it wants to do it. I'm not sure if that ever existed as a hatch though.
I think it looks gorgeous
Reminds me of nissan and infiniti g35 coupe
Not what I expected from Honda, but love the innovation!
Sexy and SUV don’t belong in the same sentence.
i agree Kirk, my first impression was that it has a baby NSX feel.
6:20 kork risking loaf and lamb for us. Gooo kork!
Looks like my Accord Coupe. NICE!!
