@@Miyconst btw. Just read that up to 3 display/monitor signals can be outputted by one DP port through a DisplayPort Hub. Dunno at what refresh rates for 3x 1080p signal though. But it could be a nice solution for someone that has 2+ monitors who sees this review.
@@gkirmathal Yeah, this sort of a hub seems like an interesting solution, but the prices are really bad. It would be easier to get an LGA 1151 mutant or any other CPU with an iGPU for multi-monitor setup.

A 3D printed mount to the back of the card with a blower fan would probably be the cleanest and safest way to cool this thing. You could even try to print the PCI bracket.
For sure, but I could not get a hold of a 3D printer and didn't find a compatible model in time, so I had to go the easy way.

Any Idea of what would be the ideal CFM of the blower fan to do this?
But it will be much louder than 92mm fan.
@@GabrielGabriel-xb5mu no idea, but you'd probably be best of getting a big and overpowered one and then tuning it down with fan control. That would also be better for noise compared to a small blower working its ass off.
@@qb4hkm I don't think it would be loud, becaue the power draw of a nano is only around 150W tops.

This is very cool! Pretty acceptable price in today's crazy market for those willing to do a bit of DIY or as we say in England do a "bodge job" haha... If I had more cash spare right now I'd buy 5 of these from the site and make some budget X99 gaming builds to sell with them.
That was exactly my though, but I wanted to use QTJ2 or i7-8700B LGA 1151 mutants because they have iGPU for multi-monitor setup, but then I realized that I have zero spare time to produce builds and sell them.. so I decided to stick to making videos.

Great thing! Did you have luck with the mini-dp output on the 9300 x2 too? That one should basically be 2 R9 Fury nano in crossfire, with the PLX chip doing the lane splitting? I could assume that getting a fitting bios could be a problem here.
Do you know if the MXM card will need a UEFI capable bios, or is it an upgrade path for older, non-uefi laptops?
Unfortunately, the DisplayPort on S9300 X2 doesn't work, at least it doesn't work with the default BIOS. The MXM comes with UEFI compatible BIOS.

I am currently trying to figure out a more elegant cooling solution, but nothing definite so far. Shipping from Slovakia to Sweden took about 5 working days.
I think presented solution is good enough, I plan to do similar way with minor modifications. When I get my card I will post pictures on discord.

Thank you for the support. I have evaluated the zip-ties solution, but was not comfortable with it, getting a hole in the shroud is more permanent.

You can use any high airflow 92mm fan, I just happened to have only this one in 92mm size.
I’m in for one!!! For a GTX 1060 of the same performance, it will cost you about ~$200 or more in the states.
If only these Fiji GPUs have 8 GB of vRAM..

Open Hardware Monitor shows the VRM and Core temperatures. keeping the VRM below 100°C is the hard part ^^ What thermal pads did you take for the VRM?
I used some noname thermal pads bought for SSDs from Amazon. Thanks for the hint with Open Hardware Monitor, I will check it.
Hi, very interesting video! i own an Instinct MI8 and i'm not sure if it's better put 2x40mm on the back or 1x92mm on top of the heatsink (in this case i will open the wings). What do you think it's better in term of temperature? i have to buy the fans so i can't test myself. thank you very much
A single 92mm fan is much better, at least it was so under my testing conditions.

I have 2 Radeon Instinct MI25 and i am having a really hard time. I know right from the start that 1 card is not functioning. But the second card seems to work but i have no way to find out. Im using ubuntu 20.whatever. i thought i had all the right drivers and dependencies. I dont know if this is something you want to help out with but any help would be much appreciated
Are two cards in a Crossfire configuration possible? (Two R9s in Crossfire do great at 4K. AND Amd has stopped making updated drivers for the R9 )
Yes, CrossFireX works with the old drivers. The new drivers no longer support it.
Are there any way to get audio trough displayport?
I tried:
- original bios, uefi bios and r9 nano bios ,
- Windows 11 and ubuntu
- 2 different display port to hdmi converters
But no luck
This seems to be a limitation of MI8. So far no one was able to get audio working over the DisplayPort.

I bought this card yesterday and now, when I'm waiting for it, I am thinking that maybe I should 3d print the whole shroud? I really dont want to cut a hole in it. Also, I didn't see any use of metal shroud (like using it to cool something on pcb and etc.) What do you think?
If you have an option to print entire shroud - do so! The original one looks very good and I felt really sorry destroying it.

I have an X99 question... do you think it's better to game with a 12C/24T E5 2670 v3 (2.3GHz base and 3.1GHz max turbo) or a 8C/16T E5 2640 v3 (2.6GHz base and 3.4GHz max turbo)?
It depends on the game you play, but in general, E5-2640 V3 is a bit better.
I bought 2 of them and i found out through some research that in crossfire these cards could outperform a gtx 980ti with a big margain could u give this a go?
U could even play some games at 4k60fps for 200 euros total

The black screen issue might be very hard to track. Make sure to test with clean Windows installation and a good Display Port cable, use NimeZ drivers.

As far as I know, all of them have a hidden DisplayPort.
and in other video cards that are present on the site, is there a DP? how did you know that he is in MI8?
The main gripe I have with this card is a single display output, I use dual screens. There were some soldering points on the pcb, maybe it's possible to add additional display ports?

you can put the other monitors on your IGPu using the rear motherboard display-outs, thats the easiest way
@@zsivanybunozes sure, but then you have to have an igpu. If you have a Ryzen cpu or f series Intel, that's not an option.
True, if you need more than one monitor, then iGPU is required.
@@Miyconst how can I setup it when I have iGPU - connect all monitors to iGPU and switch cables when playing games ? or use some hdmi splitter with switch ?
@@santory666 plug the main monitor (on which you game) into the MI8 gpu and plug the other monitors into the motherboard display connectors (that transfer signal from the igpu)
you dont have to switch cables at all. This works with any video card though.
HBM can be controlled using AMD Memory Tweak XL.

It could be an awesome budget build with an LGA 1151 mutant, Intel iGPU can be used for multi-monitor setup, while MI8 is for gaming.

You can, but it's very difficult to do. I can send you a link for discussion about recent cooling and adding ports to this GPU, but it's all in polish :)

Rather than doing an axial fan blowing into the side, I'd try getting a blower fan and attaching it to the end.
The blower fan works as well, but way much more noisy.
I watched this video because someone made a 92mm? fan adptor on thingiverse for mi8. So I try to deduce whether the fan adaptor fits MI50 or V620 cards. AMD is pretty scarce on drawings, so I cannot figure the dimensions of a V620 before it arrives. So if everything in the world works by analogy, I might want to swap the bios of V620 with Radeon Pro W6800 to get efi working. But this might reduce the number of the stream processors from 4608 to 3840 which would be unwanted side-effect.
i see the space for another video port, that space is simply empty or amd didn't solder the port and theoretically if i solder the missing port i get the video signal?
Theoretically it's possible to add another video output, but practically nobody has done that. If you need extra monitors, it's easier to use iGPU.
@@Miyconst yes but I'm on X79 with out igpu, soldering a new port is the plan c, first I try to use my Rx550 hoping in a non driver conflict, second i search for a low end GPU for cheap and at last Go Go soldering. Anyway thanks for the answer

Ok the rx550 work fine with che custom driver, the problem is I can't cooling the mi8 using 2x40mm fan on the back so I do something similar to what you did with some ultra low profile fan hoping it will fit on the space between the two gpu

The biggest problem I have noticed is the modded drivers. NimeZ is very good for pretty much all the games I play, but Easy Anti Cheat hates it and gives me a .dll error. So I cant play most of the multiplayer games I want to. very depressing.

I can mod the 9300x2 to probably 2x output based on cycle time limit due to thermal switch cooldown
Please explain what you mean with this. Can you output two video signals through the same display port?

@@Miyconst If the port supports MST (Multi-stream transport) which they usually do, then yes you can get up to 4 monitors out of a single DP.
@@Angel24112411 thanks for the info, I have checked a bit, and it seems like those splitters are very expensive and make it kinda pointless to cheap out on GPU just to overspend on the splitter.
@@Miyconst Besides the MST splitters, there exist monitors which support daisy-chaining. Splitters are expensive but I found that it isn't a good business idea to make one: on digikey the chip STDP4320 sells for EUR 15, but it requires a pile of additional elements around it, so the BOM of such device can easily reach over 40-50 EUR.

K20X is only interesting if dirty cheap, otherwise it's rather useless. GTX 780 Ti / R9 Nano benchmarks are available online, but if I will be able to get any of these GPUs I will try to make the comparison.

Definitely similar, but Radeon Instinct is much better because it comes with at least one video output, while Teslas have zero.

Hello, thank you for your work. I read that multiboost cannot activated with E5 with more than 10 cores..Is it true‽ I bought the last kilsre x99 D4 with two pcie 16 slots with E5 2650v3. I would like to replace it by E5 2697, 2699v3 to be used with a photo programm which uses multicore ( Optics dxo). Have you some suggestions‽. One thing, I replace the original bios by the original huananzhi f8. bios. It works but ethernet port does not longer work even with external ethernet card. SSD disk, read, is speeder but write is a little slower compared to the original killsrd d4 bios.
You have read wrong. Turbo boost unlock works with all locked V3 Xeons. For suggestions, please join my discord, send your motherboard picture, and ask questions there.

I flashed the bios of the killsre d4 (latest model with two pcie16) by the bios of Huanzhi f8 from the list that you propose to activate the turboboost. the computer starts but the image is frozen after two seconds with the Metronics logo and the bios version (2019). Unable to access bios or windows. I can not do anything. I removed the battery, power cord, but it does not work.

В Россию больше не отправляют, якобы закон не позволяет, хотя многим отправили и некоторые уже получили карты на руки. Лично я вчера заказал, мне не отправили. У меня деньги зависли, точного срока возврата не говорят, жаль.
Тоже оплатил в день когда они добавили возможность заказа в россию (10 февраля) и вроде как собираются отправить , но сказать сложно выслали инвойс и что мол задерживается отправка из-за ковида . Посмотрим короче.
Докладываю , после вопроса Марселю Орловски по почте , что там да как , сделали рефанд средств , жаль потерял рублей 500 на все эти комиссии и конверты валют . как то так ...
