That is an incredible plug in. People complain about the price on cubase but consider that you don”t have to buy Lfo tool, vocalign, melodyne, a stem separator. With that in mind I would say that cubase is a bargain.
Thank you Dom. It's true, after all those decades of using Cubase, I didn't even open those plugins one time. The feature set of most of them are too limited. Tremolo, Vibrato and many others need additional parameters, like fade in values. Some of them sound thin, digital and 2d, like the phaser, to name just one. But for some I think it's great the effects are in, so they can learn about their sound und usability; and than buy hardware or more sophisticated plugin versions.
I personally would absolutely love to see deeper dives on both the Fxmodulator and the Cloner. So many possibilities and so much potential for creative sound shaping. I do wish steinberg would consider adding the ability to side-chain on some of these plugins for even more creative possibilities!
Dom, thanks! Right off the bat, the AutoPan seems like a good candidate for a deep dive. I always thought of it as a simple back-and-forth, but it seems like there may be much more lurking beneath the surface.
In classical music, a tremolo is a rapid repetition of the same note. So there's no change in pitch. A technique used on the piano or balalaika, for example. Vibrato, on the other hand, affects the pitch of a stringed instrument, because the musician (a violinist, for example) vibrates his left hand on the neck, causing the pitch to vary very slightly. Thanks for the video, I rarely use modulation effects. Maybe I'm being too wise, trying to keep the original sound of the instruments. I'm interested in an FX modulator tutorial on when and why to use it. Thanks again Dom.
Exactly! In classical music tremolo again, has a very different meaning to the audio engineering world. Tremolo in Rhodes pianos affects volume for example!
The metalizer, if I remember correctly, was removed from version 5 to 6 along with the tonic filter, which in my opinion was very good and versatile.I use the metalizer a lot for vocals, it gives them a robotic touch.amazing
They should put a red carpet in front of you at Steinberg. Your stock plug-in videos for Cubase are priceless. And make me stay with Cubase along with Logic after I shifted to Logic completely two years ago. The stock plug-ins in Cubase are amazing. And without your videos I stupidly ignored most of them. Ok Reverence and Frequency I regularly used and they are my favorite , but the rest of the bunch I never even tried! Stupid me!
hi dom how u doing bro.have a question?u remember the old cubase plugin bandpass?what can u recommend similar to them? was a plugin I use a lot the past times... thanks bro
I used Steinberg Delays, Cloner and Tremolo on my latest (not yet finished recording), mostly for cleaner fx....It's a good thing to get the most out of your stock plugins....
So ... as I was a cellist for a long time (still am in spirit =] ): a vibrato is when you move your finger on the playing hand to create movement; a tremolo is when you rapidly move the bow back and forth and toward the tip to create movement. So translating that to a guitar, it would make sense to call it a tremolo bar as it was supposed to create the same kind of effect. Then again, it went into other strange directions =D
When you move your finger on your playing hand (fretting hand) back and forth (or up and down depending on the instrument), you are changing the pitch of the played note, which is called vibrato. Tremolo is the change in amplitude in general, but we also call certain playing styles tremolo if it's about the rapid articulation of a single note or a group of notes. The tremolo on a guitar should always be called a vibrato, since it only changes the pitch. Just because you are doing a similar motion with your right hand doesn't mean it's the same effect. I know that both tremolo and vibrato can sound pretty similar on a guitar if the modulation isn't to big, but I will always split hairs when it comes to this topic. We can thank Leo Fender for calling a vibrato a tremolo. It also doesn't help that companies who are offering vibrato systems for guitars, like Floyd Rose, are calling their systems tremolos. But in general: Vibrato - modulation in pitch Tremolo - modulation in amplitude
Cool video. I'm not exactly sure about the title, though. I would have included the ModMachine and WahWah plug-ins. OK. Steinberg doesn't classify them as modulation plug-ins, but I do.
Chopper and Tranceformer together could make some pretty interesting sounds. Also for gated arpeggio synths? Would make a cool video maybe? Definately would like to see a FX Modulator video. Thanks again man!
Hi Dom. Are most of the plug-ins geared mainly toward being use for guitars? I am a singer who plays keyboards & Hammond organs. I am more interested in plug-ins like the Cloner plug-in for vocals. I wish you would do a video on how to use that (Cloner plug-in more efficiently). I am also interested in the following plug-ins : FX Modulator, Ring modulator, Rotary plug-in, Tremolo plug-in, & Vibrato plug-in. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. As usual I wish you continued success with all your projects, & videos. Have a wonderful day.
Nice overview Dom, tnx! Never really thought about the difference between tremelo and vibrato, but ur right, my whammy bar is not named incorrectly🙂! I'd like a video about all of them. No, just kidding. Like one about Cloner and/or the more complex Chorus, pls.
Great Video Dom! Uhh I really want to know more about Tranceformer, lets be honest I want to know about all of them. But I am assuming I have to pick one and Tranceformer sounds really interesting.
hi dom you are great thank you so much! there is a problem that i am stuck with: i just downloaded the 30 Gb content of halion and now halion is taking a extremly long time to find those files, is it going to hapen evry time i open halion? and what cold i do? thank you!
HI Dom, a bit off topic question. HOw do you set up cubase to output audio for screen recording? on my set up the cubase seems to lock the audio driver , and Nvidia screencapture doesnt record any audio. What is the right eway to set it up?
Steinburg modulation effects are always really good. Although their gates need a little AI to work well. The Flanger and especially Phaser could benefit from a pole selection and positive/neg FB option. Why they haven't implemented this is beyond me.
FxModulator is a good candidate for an extra video. But you said you maybe would do that anyway. So if that is the case, transformer sounds weird and interesting. No idea what is going on there and what to use it for...
...and that is exactly the reason why Cubase is NOT "too expensive" - for the onstock plugins alone you would have to pay a similar amout for third-party effects... !
Yeah, and remember ppl! These are just the modulation fx that come with Cubase, there are more ... in that same "price range"! 🤑😎 You can probably pay half the price of Cubase for a "selected suite of extravaganza marketing hoopla plugins" and they might or might not sound as good. So what plugin to dive deeper in? Has to be the ring modulator!!! You can get some sick sound by going overboard with it. Listen to Gutheri Govan here ua-cam.com/video/Jv-fcUPOqOw/v-deo.html but don't miss the super melodic and totally wild guitar solo just prior to that? 🤯 Back to the ring modulator Jan Hammer has also done some of these almost unpitched sounds for aggressive leads but on keyboards of course. That would be great video material? 😁
I personally hate the stock AutoPan... The interface is really unprecise, in my opinion is the curve editor in there horrible. There's not even a preset for a saw wave... It's the only stock plugin which I actually don't use. the rest is good. btw, where is the ModMachine?
Bitwig is modulation king because you can assign any kind of modulater to anything, including other vsts knob, macros etc. Steinberg is mailing in their developments efforts, so sad they used to be the prime leaders in daw tech. No more.
a dedicated video on FX Modulator would be cool.
Great vid Dom, a dedicated video about the fx modulator would be cool.
Another vote for this plugin, please Dom!
Thank you for the reminders about Cubase gems that fall off my radar all too often.
And your enthusiasm, joy and positivity are infectious, as always.
Yeah, I vote for FX MODULATOR
+1
That is an incredible plug in. People complain about the price on cubase but consider that you don”t have to buy Lfo tool, vocalign, melodyne, a stem separator. With that in mind I would say that cubase is a bargain.
Same here
Thank you Dom. In my opinion FX MODULATOR is a very complete effect
Great video Dom. I use the stock plugins all the time. Love the Cloner!
Finally!! I've been waiting for one on the fxmodulator since you said you were gonnna give it its own video in the Cubase 12 first look!
Another great video Dom. Thank you. 👍
Thanks Dom. Incredible quantity of effects in Cubase. All is there !
Thank you Dom. It's true, after all those decades of using Cubase, I didn't even open those plugins one time. The feature set of most of them are too limited. Thank you Dom. The ring modulator gets my vote for a more in depth look.
Sometime I use chorus and tremolo, but I never open others. Thank you for this video🙏 may God bless you Cubase Lord Dom🎶🙏
Thanks again, Dom. Cubase is simply the best!!! keep up the great work and please come to Melbourne, Australia.
Excellent video, thank you so much, Dom! A special video on the ringmodulator would be my wish.
Another great video... Thanks DOM!!!!
Love the chorus plug in , I have cubase 12 artist and will plug my guitar in through the modx over the holidays , thank you
Saving this video to my list of VERY USEFUL VIDEOS
I personally would absolutely love to see deeper dives on both the Fxmodulator and the Cloner. So many possibilities and so much potential for creative sound shaping. I do wish steinberg would consider adding the ability to side-chain on some of these plugins for even more creative possibilities!

thank you very much for this great video, Dom! Cubase has so maaany wonderful tools and effects for sounddesign... Luv it!
Thanks, Dom. Very helpful.
As soon as i heard the guitar at the beginning i smashed the like button ❤
Love it, thanks Dom!

Top bloke, Dom. Sometimes we don't notice what's right under our noses. Thanks for the wakeup!
Thnx a lot as always Dom . I have so much respect for what you do 🙏🏻
The metalizer, if I remember correctly, was removed from version 5 to 6 along with the tonic filter, which in my opinion was very good and versatile.I use the metalizer a lot for vocals, it gives them a robotic touch.amazing
Weren't there an option/folder for "old plug-ins" in some version?

The autopan is 🔥🔥🔥 and the flanger is lush
Very cool modulation effects
Hello Dom,
great video as always.
For me the "fxmodulator" would be the pugin for a video with more information in detail.
Thanks and best regards👍🙂
The FX modulator would be the best for a "deep-dive". There are so many things that can be done with it.
The FX modulator looks very interesting I hope you do a tutorial on that piece of kit🙏👍👍
I love ring modulation but a video on the first chorus would be nice. Its sounds really good I think it can have a lot of uses.
Great Dom to look at everything is not easy. Thank you very much to you discovering all of these things. Sounds change 😍😍😍😍

Great Video Dom Thanks
Thanks for the video
I will investigate the Studio Chorus :-)
I just used tremolo last night. Its a pretty good version of trem
I used some time the cloner, but it sounds very digital, very 80s. Do you have a tip to make cloner sound more organic, more natural?
Cool video. I'm not exactly sure about the title, though. I would have included the ModMachine and WahWah plug-ins. OK. Steinberg doesn't classify them as modulation plug-ins, but I do.

I like sound of Metalizer, it was in Cubase 5 (or maybe even in Cubase SX)
Great Video Dom! Uhh I really want to know more about Tranceformer, lets be honest I want to know about all of them. But I am assuming I have to pick one and Tranceformer sounds really interesting.

Thanks Dom! I also pull strange faces when composing plus I clench my jaw. Weird but I wouldn't want it any other way 😂
Does Cubase come with a vocoder?
Cubase/Nuendo user since 96. I think you still need stuff like cableguys and an lfo. I dont think they ever removed Metalizer tho, just repacked it.
HI Dom, a bit off topic question. HOw do you set up cubase to output audio for screen recording? on my set up the cubase seems to lock the audio driver , and Nvidia screencapture doesnt record any audio. What is the right eway to set it up?
FX Moduilator is a beast
I use cloner to thicken up vocals/choirs and some atmospheric stuff.
Thanks man
Hi! What is the similar effect to the spin fx of cubasis?
I used some of it with my electric violin ^^
Hi! What is the similar effect to the spin fx of cubasis, in cubase PRO?
Steinburg modulation effects are always really good.
Although their gates need a little AI to work well. The Flanger and especially Phaser could benefit from a pole selection and positive/neg FB option. Why they haven't implemented this is beyond me.
Any recommendations for a good Dub siren plugin VST for Reggae Dub?
Another benefit of these stock plugins is that they seem to need less resource than many 3rd party VSTs. Best one for me Cloner.
I vote for the FXmodulator 😊
Greetings from Iran.
FxModulator is a good candidate for an extra video. But you said you maybe would do that anyway. So if that is the case, transformer sounds weird and interesting. No idea what is going on there and what to use it for...
I didn't even know about Chpper, Ring Modulator, Rotary and Metalizer
Transformer! :)
FX Modulator
Dom Sigalas please do something Yutube has turned off the translation what now!!!
help with realistic strings
Metalizer does sound organic. Its as "analog pedal" as a digital effect can get.
But i still vote for fxmodulator
I would like a deep dive into AutoPan. :)
FX Modulator, please
...and that is exactly the reason why Cubase is NOT "too expensive" - for the onstock plugins alone you would have to pay a similar amout for third-party effects... !
FX Modulator please
gooddd
Studio chorus

Cubase Distroyer and cubase distortion plugin
I personally hate the stock AutoPan... The interface is really unprecise, in my opinion is the curve editor in there horrible. There's not even a preset for a saw wave... It's the only stock plugin which I actually don't use.
the rest is good.
btw, where is the ModMachine?
autopan is my most used modulation effect lol
Most of the best plugins are cubase stock plugins. The only “issue” is that they don’t look good
I would assume the track has to be a stereo track? Probably stating the obvious.....
Transformer.)))
Filtermouth
Bitwig is modulation king because you can assign any kind of modulater to anything, including other vsts knob, macros etc. Steinberg is mailing in their developments efforts, so sad they used to be the prime leaders in daw tech. No more.
I would die for a modulation matrix in Cubase.
