Here's what this brings to my mind... Make a larger version of this, then put a pair of shoulder straps on it. Then the alchemist/medic has an assistant/servant that wears this as a backpack. They just turn around when the kit is needed and it's already at the right height for working.
Consider that: the alchemist is much shorter then the assistant, so they(assistant) needs to kneel/get down a bit for the alchemist to be able to work standing. Just for comical effect ofc :v
Wow, that looks great! Two ideas though: - A herbalist/pharmacist would definitely need something to measure stuff, like a measuring cup, or spoons of different sizes - for extra wow effect, and that's true in general: baking soda makes bubbles when in contact with acidic liquids (lemon juice), and red canbage cooking water is a pH indicator (red is alkaline, purplish is acidic) There are even more wow-inducing, food-safe color transformations out there! (e.g. the clear syrup from lychee tin cans, and the dull red syrup from cane-apple tin cans, make a tasty, vibrant purple when mixed) Edit: I would not recommend mixing any of those with probiotics or IV powder though, it might deactivate them (well, you never know)
You can't "deactivate" liquid IV powder; it's just a bunch of metal salts, vitamins, sugar, and plant extracts. (And... really fine sand, to keep it from caking up in the package, which is a little odd to think about but whatever.) I can't think of any food-safe substance that'll break those down. Probiotics are a bit more finicky; best to keep those separate unless you actually know what you're doing - though, to be fair, they're supposed to survive your stomach acid plus whatever alcoholic concoctions you decide to drink afterwards, and retain inside your gut for several hours, so they must be somewhat tough.
@@Ithirahad If one is going to use a pregame drink, it should include Milk Thistle. It protects the liver from toxins like alcohol and it is used along with activated charcoal in cases of poisoning from alcohol and poisonous mushrooms. Perhaps include both in the kit, if the drink doesn't have them.
This is rad, I saw someone who uses a bag like this as a travel art kit! Could you imagine running up to a character for help, thinking they're an alchemist or medic, but then BOOM - oil paints! Tough luck buddy!
You should add a funnel of some sort so you can more easily get the powder into the bottles and keep everything neat and clean, because otherwise that powder is going to get everywhere. You can just make a funnel with the paper, but I highly recommend just having some sort of smaller funnel in one of the pockets on the go.
As I have a character that is not only an herbalist but also a brewer this makes me so happy. (Edit: she literally makes alcoholic health, strength, energy, etc potions. Dangerous but fun!)
@@Nienna_Asyare indeed. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.) in real life, to a limited extent (tinctures are one such example, so are bitters but we think of a bitter as a flavoring agent not a medicinal one) I didn’t feel it was outside the realm of possibility. Especially in a fictional or magical world.
@@elaniarkady7351 go for it! It’s an OLD idea. After all bitters and different botanicals have been added to brews, from weak beers to much harder alcohols, since brewing began. Granted for taste and preservation much of the time but also for medicinal reasons. Hops is actually a very good example of this as both a bittering agent in beer but also used medicinally. Also honey, used as both flavoring and medicinally today as well. There are archaeological evidences back to ancient Mesopotamia. There are also, in texts from the Tudor era to the Industrial Revolution, where house wives were actually taught how to make medicinals or add them to cooking or brewing. It’s only since the industrialization of our world that medicine has been the job of “someone else.” So to have a person who brews medicinally is historically accurate, though for the highly specialized or expensive treatments you probably would go to the closest church/abbey/monastery, but also fits in well with a fantasy setting, not everyone can afford the fancy healer but your local barkeep? Almost everyone can afford a beer. So again Go For It! Lemme know how it goes!
I recently finished a belt bag inspired by your videos. It's got nine pockets with a sturdy flap to cover everything, a loop for things to be hung from it, and a sheath between the belt loops for something like a knife. My next one is gonna be a custom lunchbox so I don't have to take my food to work in a grocery bag anymore
I've been working on a store that sells little bottles with materials in them that can be used to make potions at larp. Each bottle comes with a little lore card with ingredient art on it. Granted, my products can't be consumed and are only for decorative/theatrical use, but eventually I want to do a line of my own edible materials too.
cool that he's using the magic disappearing pencil from his cloak of useful things build lol. I can imagine myself letting go of the pencil for a second, thinking about something else, and then frantically looking for my lost pencil 😆
A traveling kitchen with spice vials. Herbal teas(sleeping potions)Espresso(revive potion) I’ve been making mini bunsen burners out of small tins and paraffin wax soaked rolled corrugated cardboard. Another winning idea!
I'm thinking sugar tablets... something to actually crush with the pestle. Safer and easier to carry than granulated. Or maybe sugar rock candy for "magical crystals"? And with sugar, you must also have tea leaves and a cool infuser I'm also thinking Gatorade drink powder in the little vials
If I remember correctly the Swiss medics bag was worn on a “A” frame harness and could be opened by another medic not needing to take it off, though it could also be worn how you have it. The Swiss had a lot of cool and intuitive ways to equip their soldiers.
If I ever get back into MTG this could be a great way to create a custom Draft Kit & Deck Transport Pouch. The back pockets could be sized for the standard cardboard deck boxes, along with space below them for tokens, roledown life trackers, and dice.
you can buy gatorade powder, they're very pale until they're mixed with water. lemon lime is basically white when dry, then turns the color you'd expect when wet
I was thinking all through the video what I might store there... Tea parts like chamomile, mint, thyme, green tea. Honey, vodka, vinegar, baking soda, Zip fizz, alkaseltzer cold med, vicks, bullion cubes, sugar cubes, and bandaids (call it frog skins), maybe a sage roll to burn. Last mct oil for your coffee rig. Some more fun & tasty ingredients would be powdered erythritol or xylitol (be careful around pets), citric acid and baking soda! Adding the citric acid and baking soda together with liquid will make it fizz, and adding the erythritol or xylitol as sweeteners will add a fun cooling effect! The 3 together in addition to the pearl dust should be yummy, fun & pretty!
That is actually a wonderful bag. You can custom design it for all kinds of things, as in even real life jobs things. A small tool electronics bag, pressiout metal testing kit, medical bag, special spice sets for cooking, flint napping tool kit, heck sky's the limit. Anything that requires small tools or vials this would be perfect.
When counting a lot of something count in chunks. Like, count to ten and mark each 10. Then you can just count up how many 10s you have and then whatever you have after that.
Very tidy work. Well done. I made a open-and-unfold-flat leather "wallet" of sorts about 5-6 years ago. Using nearly identical small bottles (boiled out insulin vials) with whittled stoppers, one row of five on one side, one row of five opposite, stoppers facing each other, with leather strip sewn in (where you riveted) to hold the bottles like bullets. I use it for different seasonings for my food when I go camping. I'm planning a video to make a new one very soon. The old one was misplaced somewhere.
Should try a wilderness harness! Just a Suspenders/Belt combo with pouches and different spots to hold tools. Made one myself and love the esthetic. Been curious about making one more LARP focused
I noticed when stitching by hand that you put one needle in at a time. I suggest to be careful with that as you run the risk of splitting your thread making those seams weaker. If you saddle stitch be sure to both needles in at the same time
That would be awesome to make. I play as a shaman that does archery and my GF is a gypsy. I have a tent from when I was in the SCA that I made myself. I love watching all the new stuff I wish I could make.

I think I may go that route as my hands may not hold up to all the leather work. But I’m intrigued to try this. Thanks for the inspiration!
I have been doing leather for a couple years now, but I am never disappointed by your videos! I will be making this for my alchemist costume for Ren faires! As a side note, I also think this could easily make a fantastic RPG kit. It's got a doce rolling tray built-in as well as places to store all your goods. Anyway, nice work and thanks for the inspiration!
Very well done! You've gotten quite good at Leather craft. The only suggestion I have is to add a strap with buckle to make sure it stays together snugly. I do love Sam Browne buttons, but if the leather gets more flexible with use they can pop out, and I'd hate to see all your potions scattered on the battlefield. Excellent job with both the design, and especially the teaching of how you came up with it.
When/if I need to count the holes I punched to confirm I didn't mess anything up, I use leather sewing needles as reference points every ten or twenty holes so if I lose count I can quickly get back on track.
this plus that portable brewing kit would be so powerful... though adding more scientific instrumentation would be an interesting thing [tubes for not just sublimation, but also crystallization, distillation, and various other tools to help with the process... heck a rag that you can drench in a certain temperature value water (hot/cold) to encourage reactions would be cool! Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!
I would love to see your take on a fishermans backpack/tacklebox that you could store all your lures gear and pole. Think you would do a great job with that.
With the concept of hydration, maybe a way to incorporate a water filter would be good. Either an actual charcoal apparatus or just a Sawyer squeeze type of object wrapped in leather, lol.
Lol, you could take the Zbiotics before your first drink, Morning Recovery after your last drink, then Liquid IV when you wake up and cover all your bases!
If you think about it, cooking/baking is alchemy. So, in that case, this bag and accoutrements could be used to hold/carry spices and other baking goodies. E.G., small bottles of salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder and salt, oregano, and other spices. Along with liquid potions of Hot sauce, honey, BBQ sauces, lemon juice and whatever else you could think of. Add a small pack of sugar, and one of tea, or coffee and you have the very thing to have to "spice" up your meals while on a LARP!
Rather water the folds which will dry out. You could use something like neatsfoot oil. (in finland / Sweden we have something that translates to leather fat) that would prevent drying out cracking etc.
Fascinating design! Here’s an idea for furthering the overall concept: on the flap that goes flat once you open the bag; you could put in a battery powered heating element. That way you could serve warm to hot potions/drinks/food. Although you need to make an alchemical design in metal that will rest on top of the heating element to keep the theme.🤪
It would be cool if there was some sort of narrative to the videos that made it feel like a season or a means to an end like Clev did with costume ides and most recently specific LARP prep.
Oooh, this could be useful for me, i might adapt it to something else than potion brewing tho, i might make it a "box of kitchen uttensils" Now i only need to figure out how to make a portable firepit
Hmm so this year I am drawing, well.gonna.try to improve my drawing abilities, next year I plan on getting into leather...and you sir are an inspiration!!! To actually make something so kool looking!
This project is really cool. Wish I had the time and tools to do this kind of project. Also waiting on that video explaining the diffrent types and weights of leather explained better. Found a place locally I can buy tanned deer hides with or without fur. So there are options for projects.
I just love the fact this actually looks like a real thing made somewhere between 1940's and 1900's or even below. If I ever do a character in a sort of fantasy ww1 or ww2 mix, it will definitely carry this one.
Helpful hint on counting holes from the world of knitting and crotchet. Use stitch markers! (they make stitch markers but paper clips or even a extra bit of thread will work) Count out 10's (or 20s) and put in a marker. This way if you do lose count you can just go back to your last marked 10 or 20 rather then starting over! Very cool project!
Awesome project! I appreciate how much effort you put into, not just the builds, but also in presenting them in a great way. Some feedback you may appreciate is that I've noticed a decrease in audio quality over the last couple videos. I'm not sure if it's an equipment issue or maybe positioning.

Just a side note i know tandy leather has been the go-to for many of us but I recently placed an order with them since they are slowly closing stores to go to an online model. When I checked on the order progress I noticed they charged me extra taxes for Fort Worth crime and Fort Worth Transit. I don't live in Fort Worth so why am I being forced to pay these extra taxes that don't pertain to me? Keep an eye on any orders you make with Tandy's. Add a small pack of sugar, and one of tea, or coffee and you have the very thing to have to "spice" up your meals while on a LARP!
You would DEFINITELY be the favorite at the campfire
Thank you so much Clever! You always seem to have a video for things I want to make! As a larper and crafter, thank you so much! Keep it up!
Nice to see the skill actually leveling up this stitching seems adiquetly more difficult
Rather water the folds which will dry out. You could use something like neatsfoot oil. (in finland / Sweden we have something that translates to leather fat) that would prevent drying out cracking etc.
There was me about to say it looks like a Swiss medic bag and there ya go, you guys improved it XD
So cool! Actually, I've expexted that U will add laserwork with somw cool design to your notepad.
I would love to have something like this during a larp!
23:29 That's a brilliant build. I may try this one in the near future. Thank you
It would be cool if there was some sort of narrative to the videos that made it feel like a season or a means to an end like Clev did with costume ides and most recently specific LARP prep.
Oooh, this could be useful for me, i might adapt it to something else than potion brewing tho, i might make it a "box of kitchen uttensils"
Now i only need to figure out how to make a portable firepit
Hmm so this year I am drawing, well.gonna.try to improve my drawing abilities, next year I plan on getting into leather...and you sir are an inspiration!!! To actually make something so kool looking!
I've been using a coffee kit I made following your video for my "healing potion" station at a local LARP
Now I need to make this lol
Absolutely gonna make a version of this but using the traveling tavern as a base to make it bigger, my character is an assassin *and* healer
Awesome build! But you know what alchemists always need? MORE POCKETS! Cool bag...
This project is really cool. Wish I had the time and tools to do this kind of project.
Also waiting on that video explaining the diffrent types and weights of leather explained better.
Found a place locally I can buy tanned deer hides with or without fur. So there are options for projects.
Loved this one!
Would love to see an episode for a tunic and one for a gambeson!
This is so fluffing awesome 😊😊😊
YES! You showed me exactly what I needed to know to finish my pouch!
It's awesome that you were wearing your robe of useful items while building this one.
Those medic bags seem to be rather rare, even here in CH, the ones I found after a verry quick google go foe about 400 to 500 CHF...
So Cool! Can't wait to make one for Wedding Decore! -Mick
I have been waiting for this build! Its epic!
I just love the fact this actually looks like a real thing made somewhere between 1940's and 1900's or even below. If I ever do a character in a sort of fantasy ww1 or ww2 mix, it will definitely carry this one.
Please do more alchemist videos!
I love your show and your energy ! I am not one to do these things and I wish I had the funds to patreon, but thank you for being awesome!
You watching and enjoying the show is what we do this for, don't worry if you don't have money to give, you already give us so much support just by being here. ❤
So cool, I building a traveling apothecary character for my next larp, I was waiting for this! Thank you so much, I'll definitely making this
Oooohhhh I have been wanting to make something like this for my traveling art supplies. This is brilliant!! Such a cool design.
Nifty! My hubby just got some leather working tools, I shall have him construct one of these forthwith!
Nice project. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
Dude this is rad as hell
YOU'RE rad as hell!
Oh and I placed the order on a Monday and by Saturday it still haunt been fulfilled let alone shipped.
Nice work. Really enjoyed watching the process! I might make a portable bar kit just like this!
This is a fantastic idea
This is amazing! I gotta try to make it now, it fits so well my alchemist character!
