@@tinycoinfromholland1391 yes, and what is a guardian do play creepy piano music, gloom spawn, however has the power to change the sky and chase Link at a surprising speed
I actually miss the Guardians, now. At least they didn't become your worst nightmare out of nowhere, and become a LITERAL REPLICA OF THE MAIN ANTAGONIST.
Actually having fought against both, gloom hands would still be my choice for a battle! They’re completely helpless against fire (pretty much 3 bomb flowers take care of them) and phantom Ganon dies to 2 flurry rushes with any royal weapon with a half decent attack (a royal halberd fused with black boko horn was more than enough for me). Guardians I struggled against because the parry timing I could never get right 😭 the only way I could take care of them was running like hell and chopping off the legs with a fully upgraded master sword.
The first time I saw them from a distance, I thought they were just some kind of weird hydra thing. I realized my error when the sky turned red and the weird reversed music started playing, and I looked back to discover that they were right on top of me. They were not, in fact, a weird hydra thing
I first encountered them on the Great plateau, just doing shrine stuff, and saw something moving in the woods. I stopped to get a better look, because I couldn’t tell what it was. Then all of the hands sprang up, stared into my soul and screamed. I had to pause the game for a minute I was so spooked. But of course the music keeps playing if you pause and I realized I was screwed. And even worse YOU CAN’T TAKE A COMPENDIUM PICTURE. So I had no idea what it was and barely escaped by jumping off a cliff. Idk what possessed Nintendo to go the route they did, but even though I hate fighting them, their inclusion is very fascinating and cool.
I like to describe it like this; the guardian will spot YOU first 80% of the time, so the music startles you. When you fight them once or twice, they're not a hard enemy. The gloom hands can't spot you, but are also hard to spot. They are faster than you. They are stronger than you. They WILL catch you. Tl:DR, guardians startle, gloom hands invoke terror
Honestly, the gloom hands is easier in terms of surviving, The guardians would sprint towards you, literally release a beam able to one shot u mid game,AND THEY DO SPLASH DAMAGE! The only way to run from guardians was not let them notice u, they can ambush u tho.
Whenever you’re exploring BOTW or TOTK and you hear that sudden rush of music… If you don’t get a heart attack or scream I would think you were Wednesday’s Adams cousin
At least the hands leave you alone after a while the guardians would chase you half way across the region if you couldn't find a big rock to hide behind.
I encountered them at the worst place you could imagine. Just climbing up mount lanayru, just minding my own business and i just see them and start panicking. Those things are menaces in the early game.
I loved the guardians, they just annoyed me in central Hyrule when there was more than one at once 😂 I’m still terrified of those gloom hands and dread when I actually have to finally fight them. I’ve been avoiding them like the plague
Bomb arrows my dude try to put it in the center of the group on the ground it normally gets the majority of them and just spam those out at them till there’s one or two left then quickly pop them a few time with normal arrows down if you miss and they start respawning just switch back to the bomb arrows not only does it stagger them the fire makes em wild out for a sec before continuing to move forward
The best part is that they don’t even give you a sign in advance that they’re there. The only warning you get is a sudden jumpscare gloom puddle, by which point it’s probably already spotted you and it’s too late. At least you could spot the guardians, or at least most of them, from a safe distance, and plan other ways around them. You can’t spot the hands from afar, the only way you can know one is there is by waltzing onto its doorstep If it weren’t for maps on the internet telling me the locations of their spawns, I would be running into these things everywhere without realising and/or eternally paranoid that they could just pop up whenever they felt like it
I literally had to look up and mark every gloom hand location on the map because I was too anxious and paranoid to explore new places. Guardians were scary, but they were slower and you could dodge their attacks. The only way I’ve figured out how to fight them easily is with bomb arrows, which is still tough because they move so fast and I end up blowing myself up. But at least the hands are dead.
I mean at least guardians have many weaknesses that allow you to take care of them quickly, nothing's stopping you from parrying three lazers or shooting an ancient arrow into the eye
I miss guardians :( sure they were terrifying when you first start the game but once you get the master sword and Hylian shield you basically play with them... (especially a couple of ones in Hyrule Castle Town... literally just stasis them and they fall through the world)
I learned that you just need to go across a pond. You just need to go on the other side of the river then they can’t make it across the water. Also electricity and fire has really good attack damage on them if you go on the other side of the lake, they’ll just deport and drop off the loot as well
Those gloom hands taught me what genuine fear is the first time I came across them.
Agreed, that with the music ugh so omnious. And its a 12+ game aswell 😂

my first time encountering those was in a random ass field, i was walking, saw the gloom, thought it was just normal gloom, than it happened.
My first gloom hand literally scared me so badly what a sick enemy design
The first time i saw those hands when i was trying to get to korok forest. As soon as the music started i frame 1 exited the game and booted up smash bros
i first saw them in a cave.
I guess I appreciate that the gloom hands can't snipe you, but guardians were WAY easier to run away from
If a guardian tries to snipe you, Just zr and parry. If the gloom hands trys to touch you. Your fucked
Ah yes. I miss the days of paragliding through the air and seeing that laser hit me 😅
@@chanmarr8118 Evasive maneuvers, when the light disappears turn away
@legion6211 If the gloom hands appear, throw about 3 bombs at them. They're dead now. Guardians and gloom hands are not that hard.
@@legion6211well, you can just teleport to a shrine or tower. Done that more than id like because the grabby, gloomy hands
This is the exact feeling when a guardian pops up
The fact that they grabbed me when I tried to jump off a cliff from them has scarred meeee
His innocent "Hyuh!" I can't 😭 Poor boi didn't know 😔 Link needs a hero to safe him 😭
tulin
That last sentence aged well
The music from the guardian is scarier but the atmosphere and the enemy itself are scarier for the hands.
Edit: its called having an opposing opinion. Disagreement is a thing. Both made me soil my pants (metaphorically) when I first encountered them.
I find the guardian music actually really nice😅it's just the first seconds that are scary as f***💀
The music of the hands actually kills me every time😭 it's too intense for my heart
The guardian music used to frighten me but now its like an old friend
No way, The Gloom Hand music is definitely much more scary I like for the beginning I just sound like hell is about to go on leash
The gloom spawn music is way creepier, pair it with the atmosphere and have someone experiance it for the first time with no knowledge of the gloom spawn and yeah, scared me shitless.
I died to them the first time because I button mashed, saw link wasnt breaking free and was like "THIS ISNT WORKING" then died.
@@tinycoinfromholland1391 yes, and what is a guardian do play creepy piano music, gloom spawn, however has the power to change the sky and chase Link at a surprising speed
Everyone’s reaction to first seeing a gloom hand chase you
I’d rather fight 10 guardians at once irl than deal with disembodied arms with eyes in their palms
Guardians you can usually tell when one is around. Gloom hands will just pop out of no where and already be attacking you.
I love how everything in the first part is pretty happy, but in the end💀💀
I actually miss the Guardians, now. At least they didn't become your worst nightmare out of nowhere, and become a LITERAL REPLICA OF THE MAIN ANTAGONIST.
Same
Actually having fought against both, gloom hands would still be my choice for a battle!
At least i aint getting lasered outta the sky trying to glide past a field
What Guardians had in their musical horror, the hands made up with sheer visual terror.
I love how totk is also a part horror game from the music and environments 😂
The guardians were “Scary” the first time you saw them. These are terrifying
Nothing will still beat the terror of finding some random ah full legged guardian in the middle of a forest to get you running like Usain
Never judge a book by its cover
I loved the thrill of first seeing one creepy and terrifying all at once and yet all that much more traumatic for link
if youve played zelda for long anuff you have been jump scared by these things at least 30 times
Imagine gloom hands possesing a decayed guardian stalker.
Whenever you’re exploring BOTW or TOTK and you hear that sudden rush of music…
If you don’t get a heart attack or scream I would think you were Wednesday’s Adams cousin
They really said: "Let's make Guardians, but there's more, they come in groups, are Gloom hands, are melee, and play Blood Moon Music!"
Link was so scared, that the whites of his eyes appeared
It's the music that pops up with them things too😂 And I'm still not over Dead Hands from Ocarina of Time 😂
A combination of both of them would be one of the scariest enemy ever
My two cents...
Gloom Spawn-INFESTED Guardians.
The hands are totally nice they wave and give you hugs. Y'all shouldn't be scared at all
Those red hands taught me what real fear is.
Oh god when you think it’s over phantom gannon just spawns in
"I wasn't just a little red hand"
*Proceeds to do pizza tower scream*
I was looking for a coment like this
I loved the guardians, they just annoyed me in central Hyrule when there was more than one at once 😂 I’m still terrified of those gloom hands and dread when I actually have to finally fight them. I’ve been avoiding them like the plague
I have bad news for you... have fun getting the master sword
@@Glowing0v3rlord 😬 😬 💀 💀…😭😭😭
Bomb arrows my dude try to put it in the center of the group on the ground it normally gets the majority of them and just spam those out at them till there’s one or two left then quickly pop them a few time with normal arrows down if you miss and they start respawning just switch back to the bomb arrows not only does it stagger them the fire makes em wild out for a sec before continuing to move forward
Or find a ledge 😂
I still have a physical reaction to the piano playing
It’s so creepy man. I have soulslike flashbacks whenever these bad boys show up.
You can’t spot the hands from afar, the only way you can know one is there is by waltzing onto its doorstep
If it weren’t for maps on the internet telling me the locations of their spawns, I would be running into these things everywhere without realising and/or eternally paranoid that they could just pop up whenever they felt like it
I literally had to look up and mark every gloom hand location on the map because I was too anxious and paranoid to explore new places. Guardians were scary, but they were slower and you could dodge their attacks.
The only way I’ve figured out how to fight them easily is with bomb arrows, which is still tough because they move so fast and I end up blowing myself up. But at least the hands are dead.
As one who doesn't play horror games, that was the absolute most TERRIFYING experience I've had in a video game
I mean at least guardians have many weaknesses that allow you to take care of them quickly, nothing's stopping you from parrying three lazers or shooting an ancient arrow into the eye
I loved my first experience with phantom Ganon. The hands gave me Wind Waker Vibes and the Actual fight gave me Ocarina of Time Vibes.
I've currently beated 3 gloom hands. They're always difficult and I waste so many arrows trying to kill them...
They take elemental damage so just throw stuff at them instead of using arrows
just spam bomb arrows at them
I throw myself into the group and wiggle my weapons randomly until they die.
Two words.
Spam Bombs
Seriously, it is the one enemy you will never regret using your bomb arrows on.
“Just then the king finally felt true fear.”
I miss guardians :( sure they were terrifying when you first start the game but once you get the master sword and Hylian shield you basically play with them... (especially a couple of ones in Hyrule Castle Town... literally just stasis them and they fall through the world)
Gloom hand: HEY GUYS HELP ME BEAT UP THIS HELPLESS LITTLE DUDE!
WHY? CAUSE HE LOOKED AT ME FUNNY.
I was scared the first time I saw a guardian… but the gloom hands are on another level
I learned that you just need to go across a pond. You just need to go on the other side of the river then they can’t make it across the water. Also electricity and fire has really good attack damage on them if you go on the other side of the lake, they’ll just deport and drop off the loot as well
Guarardian any day
