Mark, your a 24 Carat diamond, you really are 👌. I said in my last comment to you that I was seriously looking at the XSR 700 and you said, yeah I’m test riding one I a few weeks. We’ll Mark, admittedly I have jumped the gun. Only last Thursday I went to see a dealer in Manchester UK that had both colours in stock and I had to have one, the historic white colour. Sat on it to get a good feel for the bike and suits me just fine, 57 years of age and I’m gonna have a blast on it. But anyway, I am so delighted you’ve got your review uploaded before I take delivery this Friday the 22nd, and your review is just what I expected from the best motorcycle reviewer on YT, excellent 👌. Mark, many many thanks from me for the outstanding reviews of motorcycles and giving a potential purchaser of such a good insight on what’s available 👍🏻. Just need to start ordering aftermarket parts now to make it just how I want it. Mark, thank you once again for a thorough testing and positive review. Wishing you all the very best 👍🏻
Update. This middleweight is awesome, only got 73 miles on it and it’s everything I expected from it. The gear shift is so slick and no doubt it will get better as it gets more mileage on it. Two downsides, the seat is a little firm, so I’m using a sheepskin cover over the seat which makes a big difference. I will over the winter months get the seat altered and have some gel added to make it a little more comfy. The mirrors in stock form are pretty much useless, for me anyway, ( they’re to low to see through and not wide enough ) and so I’ve ordered some mirror risers from SW Motech which will raise them 4cm and 4cm wider. Apart from these two minor issues, I feel I’ve made a great choice in this model, it’s superb 👌
Mark, great review as always. You sold me on a Tracer 900GT. Thanks for so many great uploads. Watching from Chicago, Illinois! This bike sounds amazing with that exhaust!
So here in the US I went to a Yamaha demo event and started on the 2022 MT 10 and oh my god what a amazing machine. I then took out this bike, the XSR 700 and I was very impressed with it. Lots of low down torque and just a great power plant and great package all the way around. But that MT 10 is really making me want to trade in my Z 900 RS Café.
Yet again another outstanding review Mark. I've been looking at the Yamaha XSR700 but as a short guy I was unsure if it would fit. You are the only tester who demonstrates the fitment of the bikes they test. Keep them coming.
I just took this bike out today at a Yamaha demo event and you should definitely try it. You won’t be disappointed. I’m 5,7” and I have no problem with it. Then again I typically ride bigger bikes. I also took out the MT 10 and I currently ride a Z 900 RS café
Bike height is a non issue unless you're truly short. You don't need to be able to flat foot a bike with both feet. As long as you can get one foot down, you'll be fine. It's just like a kickstand.
Great Bike! Love the CP2 engine Mark. Looks on the bike are great. Great review as always, thx. I owned a MT07 and found it to be very versatile and lovely to ride. Makes riding feel so easy because of the low weight and maneuverability. Now having fun on the Tracer 9 GT, another rocker from Yamaha.

A workmate has just bought one of these and I was admiring it in the bike park. Important to me is whether the pillion accommodation is comfortable, and whether you can fit luggage for a weekend away. My wife doesn't like bikes with a perch pillion pad. That narrows down the choice considerably.
Just from your bloody enjoyable review, I'm considering extending my budget upto the £8k. The XSR is my 1st choice of bike atm, however I really really like the Interceptor and 3rd is the CB650R. Whichever bike I get, it'll need an aftermarket exhaust but not sure I can justify the cost of an Akropovi¢. Many thanks.
Hi Mark, I prefer this to the mt-07.. I love the retro styling, but what really did it for me has to be the exhaust... The exhaust sounds great!!.. I have the XTribute version of the XSR700 and love it, especially with the Akra pipe. Half of the pleasure riding any of Yamahas CP2 engine bikes is the sound with a decent pipe. The offbeat firing order/sound reminds me of old school Ducatis of the late 80's (851 & 888). Needless to say, an aftermarket can is a must to fully enjoy this machine. The bike has more than enough power to be engaging on UK roads (it'll do 100mph in less than 9 seconds) but also returns fantastic economy. I have seen 73mpg on mine in this recent hot weather. You would struggle to get 125's to achieve that level of economy 20 years ago!
Thanks...I was so impressed with this bike as as you said the sound is off the scale with the Akro full system.....I read that you don't need a remap with the Akro system when you decat it which is interesting....but I guess it would benefit even more Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 fueling not perfect. mine hunts around a bit particularly in 3rd gear mostly as it wasn't remapped when I put the high level Akra full system on. Must be running a bit lean but it's only a minor inconvenience.

Just bought this bike and have to say its an absolute blast!! I'm 6'4'' and aside from the adventure type bikes I always feel cramped but the XSR feels perfect for me
Thanks Mark, Another lovely Yamaha then. I think these parallel twins do benefit from the addition of an Akrapovic - if you like that sort of thing and Crescent can provide in my experience. If my 2nd bike wasn't an SV650s maybe I'd take a closer look, having had an MT03 until a year ago, which was really nice. Gold wheels look great and I appreciate the neutral seating stance and very good mpg. :>)
Greetings from Tennessee, U.S. Great video, good informative review. Just wonder why you didn't mention the Trident when thinking of competition/comparison bikes? (that's what came to my mind) ...I'll view your Trident review next. Then see when you get to ride the new Honda Hornet (which I hope you'll get a million views) and the new Suzuki GSX S8. 👍🏍🏍🏍 ...stay safe.
Hi Tony yes looking forward to reviewing the new hornet and gsxs,8 The hornet is coming in at £6999 here in the UK which is crazy good value ...yes re the trident 🔱...that one just slipped my mind at point of video speaking Best wishes mark
Thanks for your reply @Mark Pulling , I know the Hornet will be insanely economical to get but although my main attraction is for modern retros, I have to admit the Suzuki team really gott "the looks" right with the gxs s8. Briefly going back to the Trident, I think it looks the part and pricing is good however, the price increased about 5% which will push new buyers even further to wait for and consider the Hornet. Cheers🫂
This bike is seriously tempting. I'm interested to know how it compares against the Kawasaki z900rs and the Speed Twin - both of which are upwards of £3k more expensive, and I'd like opinions on if the extra cost is worth it?
Just watched this again, Mark. I like the new headlight and revised position of the dash, and a nice dash it is. Who needs a TFT? The bike I thought about buying in Thailand before I found my immaculate SCR950. Superb review, as ever. 1990 [Nick J]

Thanks for the video! I'm trying to decide between this one and the MT 07, but I think I'll go with the xsr 700 in white. One question, a lot of people complained about the stock seat, that is completely useless for a passenger. The optional seat that you got, it's better for a passenger? And confortable enough to travel a few hours without resting? Thanks you!

G'day Mark from Australia, Yamaha have made some of the best bike and my favourite is the 1970s XS 650 the copy of the BSA 650 twin, this bike is a bit of a let down style wise, with the head light and single instrument it's unbalanced and the low slung exhaust looks like one bad bump and it's gone and that fly screen grill what's that about, rate it 6 out off 10, and the price is very high, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
It was on my shortlist along with the Kawasaki z650rs. I went with the Kawasaki and have no regrets, the performance is similar but the look of the z650rs won the day!

Hello Mark! Great video as always, I love your reviews! I'm actually pretty undecided between this XSR700 and a RE Continental GT 650 which I also saw your review. I know that they are very different motorcycles and whatever motorcycle I end up getting it will be my first one! I just wanted your opinion on this because I want a motorcycle that's really fun to ride (no need to be super fast) but I'm also considering reliability, quality and such. I would really appreciate your opinion on this. :) Greetings from Portugal! 🇵🇹
Hi diogo I'd go for the xsr as your first bike ...the continental is brilliant but it's got quite a racy position..you'd be better off with the Interceptor..but the xsr is lighter and has a brilliant fun engine Good luck let me know what you choose. Best wishes mark
@@markpulling12 thanks , sounds awesome. Done so much research on all bike in this category and i keep coming back to the xsr so I decided i will get one next year 😀
I'm considering getting my motorcycle license and have been narrowing my first bikes down. I like the look of this bike, also the Honda Rebel 500 (we are somewhat restricted here in NZ on the CC rating for learners) . Which would you bike guys recommend as a first bike for a complete novice? It takes 2 years from start to finish to get your full license here and I'd like something I can grow into a bit during that time.
Hi Mark. I know you have a tracer 9gt so quick question! Under current tfts I just can't accept the dual tfts the tracer has and as I was about to put my deposit on a tiger 900gt Pro I read an article about tracer 9 having an update for 2023 with radar cruise and a new tft. I'm gonna hold off until we see proper pics
one question if I may ask: are the refflectors on the front suspension mandatory? I have them on my xsr125 (live in germany, hope I dont make too many spelling and/or naming mistakes) and I would really like to take them off for looks. I mean yes I know the 125 is a baby bike and all, but I had to start somewhere and she is a beaty to me, so ...

Hi ...they are just a pair of generic ones I got from eBay a few years ago ...sorry I don't have a link But just eBay .... motorcycle camo trousers Best regards mark
The pick of the bunch is for me the Trident 660, the one I got. The Z650RS drove nice but the 2022 MT-07 was a very tiresome bike to drive. The Interceptor was better even the SV650 was better than the 07. Yamaha dropped the ball for me with this engine, it has not the feel that I always had with Yamaha over the years and I been driving them for 47 years as only the brand that I bought. Good review Mark.
I notice that oil light is on along with N and ABS is it normal? I ask because i just got one second hand and its the same bike drive beatifully but I wonder. Oil light is on but when i start the bike it goes off

@@Motoristika haha that's a tough question...my favorites have been the tracer 9 gt... mt09 sp....KTM 890 duke ....but my royal Enfield hunter 350 is my favorite at the moment:)
Greetings from Portugal! 🇵🇹
Hi diogo I'd go for the xsr as your first bike ...the continental is brilliant but it's got quite a racy position..you'd be better off with the Interceptor..but the xsr is lighter and has a brilliant fun engine
Good luck let me know what you choose.
Best wishes mark
Thanks Mark, I really appreciate your honesty!
Best wishes!
the on-off has been changed?
Great review. Can you tell me if the cat was removed? And did it need to be remapped for the exhaust?
Hi no it's just a slip on ...cat is still in so no remap needed :)
Cheers mark

Ok Christopher that sounds great looking forward to seeing if it gets a different dash to mine :)
That's an awesome bike.
Many thanks:)
Hi Mark, great video. Does XSR feel/look more plasticky/less expensive than Z650RS or is this just me?..
Hi no they are both similar quality and feel
Best regards mark
Wish this bike had twin clocks would buy one immediately
one question if I may ask: are the refflectors on the front suspension mandatory? I have them on my xsr125 (live in germany, hope I dont make too many spelling and/or naming mistakes) and I would really like to take them off for looks. I mean yes I know the 125 is a baby bike and all, but I had to start somewhere and she is a beaty to me, so ...
Great video! Is there a way to lower the bike? I'm a girl at 170cm (5.5 feet), and I really like this bike but wondering if I can handle it.
Hi yes these are relatively small and light bikes and they can definitely be lowered with a simple kit ...it's not a big job or you can just get a low seat
Best wishes mark
Hi Mark could you do a review on the new 2022 Zontes 310T2 Adventure bike please
Many thanks.
Yes John I'm sure I can get hold of one of those at some point
Would you classify this as a Heritage style or Retro ?
It’s sometimes hard to say what style these bikes are.
Hi Craig tricky choice but I'd call it heritage
Cheers mark
CP twin is such a monster sound
Yes ....it's amazing!!!
Many thanks
The English accent is music to my ears 😂👏 absolutely beautiful
Nice!
Hi Mark can you let me know what trousers they are and a possible link to buy? Thanks!
Hi ...they are just a pair of generic ones I got from eBay a few years ago ...sorry I don't have a link
But just eBay .... motorcycle camo trousers
Best regards mark
The pick of the bunch is for me the Trident 660, the one I got. The Z650RS drove nice but the 2022 MT-07 was a very tiresome bike to drive. The Interceptor was better even the SV650 was better than the 07. Yamaha dropped the ball for me with this engine, it has not the feel that I always had with Yamaha over the years and I been driving them for 47 years as only the brand that I bought. Good review Mark.
Thanks jay ...good choice with the trident :)
I have a 2017 fz07. I find it tiring to drive myself. Love the bike but love my z900 more!
Hoping Yamaha would bring to 🇺🇸
Very cool bike looks better than the 900 CP2 is the best
bravo!!!!
I notice that oil light is on along with N and ABS is it normal? I ask because i just got one second hand and its the same bike drive beatifully but I wonder. Oil light is on but when i start the bike it goes off
Absolutely normal
@@markpulling12 Thanks mate great video!
Black Beauty…. What a looker!
Thanks I was very impressed how this rode and that sound!!!
stock pipes sounds gnarly already
Lovely bike ! Looking forward to the review
Thanks Stefan.. really enjoyed it cheers mark
Question:
What would make someone choose this over an MT?
Retro looks and styling
Cheers mark
I wish this was available in Indian market
What seat is that?
The standard seat look soooo much better
