Graham, Your story of the Dutch woman is perfect. I am a 4th grade teacher and I expose my kids to the beauty of stamps throughout the year (sometimes showing your videos). I stress that there is no one reason to collect. Stamps can fill a need for many different people and while I use them as an education tool, once or twice a month, we just go through my hoard and kids can collect/trade/display or keep whatever they wish, for whatever reason. Thank-you for another wonderful season!
Thank you for sharing, Glenn. Absolutely, there are no rules at all, philately is open to everyone and is a brilliant educational tool! Glad that you enjoyed the season 😀
That’s fantastic you went to seek out the actual windmills. I was surprised! Just another aspect of things you can do with this hobby. Now I must go backwards and view previous episodes. How exciting! Thank you for posting these!
Thanks for taking us to Holland. As Mr West remarks, your going on location is "brilliant". This one a great example...You deserve 10 times the views I see here after one year. Great stuff Thanks for all your efforts.. Agree with Samuel West:..BRILLIANT!
Thank you Graham for another wonderful episode and a fantastic season, I look forward to watching season 3 again. The first parcel I received as a chid was a world stamp album for child collections, it was a gift from my Aunt and I've never forgotten that...
Thank you Karen :D You can never forget your first stamp album, so happy that you enjoyed the season, thank you for all your support and encouragement.
Thank you Graham for a wonderful episode about windmills and the Netherlands; I've traveled there and your video in Holland brings back memories of an amazing country everyone should explore. More importantly, thank you for another amazing season of philatelic history lessons. You have a gift for telling captivating stories about philatelic history and how stamps represent our culture. I sincerely hope you continue using your 'gift' to tell more philatelic stories.
So glad that you enjoyed the season and video, Gary. Thank you for your support and encouragement. You are right, the Netherlands is a great country that everyone should explore :D
From one year amd a half i started my philatelic adventure because of you and you learn me a lot in your videos that i always watch till the and. TANK YOU. I cannot eait till season 4 😅. Love your video best youtube channel ever.
Graham, I want to thank you. I want to thank you for the series, which each episode had so much effort put into it. I want to thank you for the effort you have put into the community. Also, I want to thank you for this series on a personal level, because it has helped me through a couple of tough times, and also just was great in general. Thank you for this amazing series. Happy Exploring!
Thank you for your support and encouragement throughout the series. So happy to see that the videos were meaningful to you and that you enjoyed them. The season was a pleasure to produce, so you are very welcome. :D Happy Exploring!!
Simply the Best UA-cam channel ever, as many of us comments here! I can just repeat myself: These videos MUST be shown in classrooms! Thank you Graham for your great efforts! 👏👏👏 Stay strong, stay healthy!
So nice to escape into the world of stamps at the moment, thanks for the bucolic windmill adventure. Stay safe and a big thanks for all the amazing episodes in this season!
Congratulations on your completion of the third season! I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos and eagerly await the next season. I've been collecting world currency, but you have spurred me on to supplementing my collection with stamps as well, and I've really enjoyed them. Thank you!
I appreciate all the effort and hard work you put into each episode. Because of this UA-cam channel, I’ve been able to appreciate the collection I was given by my father. Thank you very much and I do look forward to seeing what you present in season four!!! 😎😎
Thank you William, glad that you have been able to enjoy and appreciate your father's collection. Thank you for watching the season. Happy Exploring :D
Thanks for all the great experiences in season 3. Would love to see an episode on Costa Rica, with its focus on biodiversity, culture and upcoming bicentennial.
Great video - I had not realized that the first postage stamp with a windmill was one of Don Quixote from Spain. I just assumed that it would be the Netherlands. That would make a great trivia question. Since this is the end of Season 3 - thanks for a great series. I learned a lot and many times went back to my own collection for a few surprises - I totally understand the Dutch woman collector - a big part of why I still collect is that it connects me with my childhood. I am looking forward to season 4.
Thank you for this series. It inspired me to start collecting my own thematic collection this year. I've been collecting anything to do with 'pirates' so sailing ships, privateers, ex pirate explorers ect. My journey has uncovered a lot of history that I can read further about just by looking into the stories behind some of the stamps. Anyway cheers and I wish you good health.
Whoa a pirates thematic collection! Never thought of doing that, VERY cool!! Glad you enjoyed the series and thank you for watching. Happy Exploring :D
Windmills. I'll never look at them the same again after this video. And I'll never look at stamps with windmills the same again, either. That is what is so special about these videos and the stamps they feature: they develop an appreciation for structures, people, places, etc. that we otherwise wouldn't give particular consideration to.
I completely agree, stamps have really gotten me to appreciate the world around me such as people, places, structures etc. Thank you so much for watching the video and season. :D
Thanks for telling us about your Dutch friend. My great-uncle introduced me to the hobby, and my great-aunt used to write a regular column for the Knoxville newspaper, titled "The Story Behind the Stamp". That, and living in Japan during my early teen years, cemented stamp collecting as a way to explore a widening world, and wanting to know the stories behind them. Your videos resonate as they take a similar direction. Any good collection combines the thrill of the hunt, learning about what you have found, cataloging, and displaying. Different balms for different moods. Great videos!
Thank you, and just like you I enjoyed stamp collecting in South Africa as a way of exploring the world... It is such a wonderful hobby. Thanks for watching 😊
Hey, an incredible video to end this season. The amount of hardwork and travelling that you put in making of these videos best describes the passion that you have for philately. Best of luck for the next season and eagerly waiting for the same. 👍👍
Thank you for another marvelous episode! It is one of my favourites as I 've always been impressed by windmills and would like to travel to the Netherlands. Take care Graham!
Glad that you liked the video. You would enjoy traveling to the Netherlands, seeing all the windmills up close is really impressive. Thanks for watching :)
Cheers mate!! That's for a wonderful season. The production quality has improved so much. It's been a blast seeing your enthusiasm translate to your effort in sharing philately with us :)
Awesome season!!! I can't wait for the next one. I am home now so I have to go back and watch it all again to find the stamps in my collection. Thank you for bringing the world of stamps back to life!!!
Thank you Aaron, you are very welcome. I'm sure you will have plenty of stamps in your collection that you can relate to the episodes. Thanks for watching :)
Living in the Netherlands I especially like this video. Funny thing is that our street name is called "Standerdmolen", like the 12+8 cents stamp. See you at Stampex2020.
Did I I enjoy the season? No, I’ve loved it. Windmills are a great way to end season three. Another historical structure could make a great episode for season four: covered bridges.
Really appreciate your note about stamp collecting not HAVING to be educational. While I enjoy learning about stamps, I think the hobby appeals to people on so many different levels, and no one's reason for enjoying stamp collecting is better or worse! Also, watching this brings back memories of my travels... I hope to visit the Netherlands again soon.
It is an important point to make, thank you for calling it out Casey! :) I have found myself enjoying the process of floating or sorting stamps with some music for hours! No person's reason for enjoying stamps is better or worse than someone else's, totally agree. Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for another fabulous season! I LOVE your videos and I learn so much watching them. What an amazing series! Inspired by your passion, I have started my own topical stamp collection: hedgehogs! Did you know that there are 17 different species of hedgehog found around the world? My stamps taught me that ❤️👍
17 different species and they can be identified through stamps, wow! I wonder is Sonic the Hedgehog has made it onto a stamp yet 🤔. Thank you for sharing AND a big thank you for watching the season 😀 🦔
Just discovered this channel, I have always been big on stamps but never really knew the meaning behind each one. Thanks for these videos which show that stamps have so much character and story behind it.
Thank you for a wonderful season 3!! Fantastic last episode and a topical that I collect. Thank you for all the research and work you put into these episodes! Already can't wait until a season 4!! Hope you and your family are safe during these trying times. Thanks again!
Thanks for another great episode, and for your wonderful third season! Thanks for all the hard work you put into making such an incredible channel. My wife Grace and I always watch the new videos as soon as they come out! Looking forward to your next season. Stay safe and well done!
I have always loved Don Quixote since I was a kid and it has always been on my bookshelf. Although it is a fairly long novel I have read several times always to my enjoyment. As usual great episode. Can't wait for Season 4.
Lovely video, also featuring my country. Hope you are aware drone flying is only permitted in a few places (penalties in the Netherlands are not cheap). You took the right transportation vehicle, the bike and you covered a large part of the Netherlands. When I observed right also the very touristic Zaanse Schans near Amsterdam. The place to go for a tourist who would like to see windmills, wooden shoe making and cheese production in one place. A nice end to the season, keep up the good work in a new season, whenever it is safe to travel again. Greatfull to have stamp collecting as a hobby in this time of isolation.
Er Um... what drone? I wasn't flying any drone... it was a kite, with a camera ;).... If the penalties are anything like the speeding ticket I got there, then I was definitely not flying a drone. LOL. Glad you enjoyed the episode and season, Erik. Thank you for your support and encouragement. :D
Thank you Johan, I believe that you once mentioned windmills and wind pumps were a topical of yours, I could be wrong. But thank you for watching the season 😀
I'm surprised there is only one channel making this useful content. Now that USPS is in financial danger I am researching how I can support them by buying stamps and I have learned a lot from your videos about different ways of collecting new and old releases and philatelic covers. Thanks for this series!
Thank you very much for all your hard work putting these videos together! (Because it is hard work, I've tried it!) I'm still playing catch up with the videos and still have plenty to go at and to keep me entertained and educated!
Graham, thanks for this season. It was great! as usual. Looking for the next season. I look at your videos of season 1 2 and 3 again. Love them. Til next time. David Barban
A video suggestion for you, Graham: symbols of different countries. I find that knowing these symbols really help me in identifying old stamps in languages I'm unfamiliar with. For instance, the solar lion on old Iranian stamps, the symbol of the Ottoman Empire on old Turkish stamps, etc.
I knew you would take a foreign adventure for the final episode of the season. I join many others hoping to see more from you as your art brings an exciting dimension to stamps that no one else quite captures. As for the painful speeding ticket, I once heard at great stamp collector remark while standing in front of a rumbling volcano, "Philately is not for the faint hearted."
Another awesome video. You are successful in your efforts to further/revive the hobby. My collection has sat dormant for years. I miss it and will likely knock the dust off of it very soon.
Last episode. Perfectly done. I'm a regular watcher of your content from India and it really makes me proud when you include Indian stamps in your videos. Thanks and happy exploring. P. S. Now I follow you on Twitter too
I just started commenting stuff recently...and I definitely wanted to stop by here to thank you. I am the third generation of a philately collection that found its roots in the trips my grandfather took as a sea vessel mechanic. The collection has seen better days, but it's neglect from the previous and my generation had to stop. I only had brief interest in philately until I discovered you. Today, the collection has grown a considerable amount (possibly 50% larger) and it was because of you I also got I interested in topical studies of stamps, cancellations, first day covers and a new obsession of Cinderellas. I believe this part of the journey is great for my collection and for you finishing a fruitful season. With much love from a proud subscriber in the Philippines!!😍😍 By the way, the Philippines has very interesting philately. As a melting pot of culture, our post issues gold embossed stamps every lunar New year of the zodiac! You might want to also look at stamps from the period of Marcos dictatorship. A dark time, but its full of vibrant stamps! Again, congratulations to you my friend.
Thank you so much! Really cool to hear about your grandfather's collection and how you have been able to care for it. You must be proud of how you built up your family's collection. I will have to look into stamps from the Philippines :) I'm glad that you have enjoyed the videos and the channel, Thanks for watching!
Wow. I have seen windmills a lot, but never knew their purpose. Great watching the end of the season somehow gave me the same feeling watching Sachins's 100th century (I am sure you will understand that😜). Will wait patiently for a new season, new stamps and new information.
Cool podcast, Well produced, and will generate excitement among topical collectors. Who are so important to our hobby. BTW Graham ... Took the words away from me in your closing remarks. Smashingly accurate about our Hobby of Kings and Commoners, lol.
I really enjoyed this season. I can't wait to see the next. The production quality blows my mind; its tv worthy. Maybe you could do more tip videos or have a 5 minute section in later episodes, quickly discussing a tip or something like that.
You must be tired of reading similar comments, but like so many others I am sorry to see that this is the end of season 3. Saw your APS stamp talk, and was really disappointed to hear that you will be producing fewer videos in the future (but certainly understand based on how much time you invest in each video). I have collected for over 55 years, and enjoy every Exploring Stamps episode. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm.
There's also a story behind the French windmill stamp: it shows the 'Moulin Saint-Pierre', a windmill in Fontvieille, France, that is featured in one of Alphonse Daudet's most famous books: 'Letters From My Windmill'. Hence the inscription 'Le Moulin d'Alphonse Daudet' (the windmill of Alphonse Daudet).
Idea for Season 4: I think a podcast discussion regarding the stamp varieties from the definatives printed by the National Bank Note Company (NBNC) versus ABNC and CBNC of 19th century would be a hit. Keep it basic of course. But it might help novel collectors who have bought "stamp hoardes" get more interested in identification of engraving, watermarks, and perforations.
Amicalement / Patrice .
Such a nice topics. Speaking of which i have received my package containing the stamps and fdc of Vietnam's latest stamps set depicting the people's fight against COVID-19 :DDDD
Deae Graham. I think you should strongly start thinking of suvenirs and channel items to be sold online. I would be happy to buy a shirt, a mug or another philatelic items. Just to be grateful for everything you do on behalf of philately.

Thank you Nick, glad you enjoyed the season and this episode, stay safe :)
Appreciate your hard work and great content. Collecting for purists, for the passion not the financial return.
Thank you Anthony. Yes, collecting for the passion is where I find the joy of the hobby. Glad you enjoyed the content :)

Yes he should
Glad you enjoyed it :) It would be a looongg video to show the entire collection :)

Those stamps with a simple design like the one you've pulled from box are the best looking stamps!
I have to agree, simplicity stands out. I love the design. Thank you for watching :)

Great suggestion, that could help a lot of collectors.
Getting fancier and fancier! Loved it as always
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed the videos and thanks for watching :)
Absolutely fantastic. Another superb video!!
Thank you John, glad you enjoyed it. :)
Another awesome video. You are successful in your efforts to further/revive the hobby. My collection has sat dormant for years. I miss it and will likely knock the dust off of it very soon.
Yes you must! Get those albums out and start exploring again :D Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Last episode. Perfectly done. I'm a regular watcher of your content from India and it really makes me proud when you include Indian stamps in your videos. Thanks and happy exploring. P. S. Now I follow you on Twitter too

Amazing!! This is truly an adventurous hobby thanks for the adventure!!
Just as good as the Travel Channel!
You are too nice, lol! Thanks Julia, glad you liked it :)
With much love from a proud subscriber in the Philippines!!😍😍
By the way, the Philippines has very interesting philately.
Thanks for this great episode. Very therapeutic and a nice escape from today's craziness. Going to do some research on Don Quixote as well :)
Definitely do some research on Don Quixote, a fascinating character! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching :)
Wonderful. Thanks a ton. Best regards
Thank you! And thank you for watching the season :)
@@ExploringStamps I stayed in Netherlands for few months. This video reminded me of Molens I visited during my stay.
Windmills? I am a big fan! :P Joking, thanks for this video and for all the season 3, can't wait for season 4! :D
Lol thanks for watching the season and supporting the channel with your comments and likes, glad you enjoyed it, stay safe :)
Wow. I have seen windmills a lot, but never knew their purpose. Great watching the end of the season somehow gave me the same feeling watching Sachins's 100th century (I am sure you will understand that😜). Will wait patiently for a new season, new stamps and new information.
No way... Sachin's 100th was beyond epic ;) Lol thanks for watching and supporting the channel, much appreciated.
Cool podcast, Well produced, and will generate excitement among topical collectors. Who are so important to our hobby. BTW Graham ... Took the words away from me in your closing remarks. Smashingly accurate about our Hobby of Kings and Commoners, lol.
that was great ..... thank you for share all those beautiful moment ...... and i miss that map lol
Thank you Don, glad you enjoyed the season :) I guess I am also trying to revive the days of paper maps as well as stamps. LOL. Thanks for watching.
GREAT AMAZING VIDEO TO END THE SEASON!
Thank you :)
Wow..its amazing stamps..
I really enjoyed this season. I can't wait to see the next. The production quality blows my mind; its tv worthy. Maybe you could do more tip videos or have a 5 minute section in later episodes, quickly discussing a tip or something like that.
Thank You for those videos! Its really great channel! :D
Really glad that you like the channel, thank you for watching :)
A big tank you for your work and this visit, I am new to your chanel. From Montréal un vieux collectionneur vous souhaite longue vie Donquichotte!
You totally need your own TV Show!
Thank you 😊, I will have to propose it to the History channel or something soon. Thanks for watching!
@@ExploringStamps I hope you do! Just make sure you don’t give up your rights to your show. 😀
Looking forward to season four, whenever it is safe to do so.
:D Thanks for watching, Antonio.
You have got me on a philately CRAZE🤪🤪
Awesome!! That is the best kind of CRAZE to be in :) Thanks for watching Sarah
Oh wow, a stamp that I totally overlooked with an interesting story! Thank you for sharing 😃
epic way to end this season
Thank you, I was going for epic, glad you agree :D Thank you for watching!
Great episode
Excellent episode
Thank you :)
Great Video !!
Thank you, glad you liked it :)
Me: Watched the entire video
Also Me: *LEARNED SO MANY FROM WINDMILLS*
:D Thanks for watching!
Love your videos!
Thank you 😊
Amicalement / Patrice .
Season 4... you must do the Channel Islands, UK! Specifically Guernsey :D
Such a nice topics. Speaking of which i have received my package containing the stamps and fdc of Vietnam's latest stamps set depicting the people's fight against COVID-19 :DDDD
Very cool! Vietnam did a great job with its COVID release. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the season :)
Deae Graham. I think you should strongly start thinking of suvenirs and channel items to be sold online. I would be happy to buy a shirt, a mug or another philatelic items. Just to be grateful for everything you do on behalf of philately.
