Tell me if you like German stamp. Do you collect them? Is there a specific area you prefer to collect or maybe you don't collect Germany at all. Thank you for watching, and please comment, like and subscribe. It helps me a lot!
Hello Chris, as you know, I collect Germany and have a large collection. I think you got a good deal, 20 euro is a good price, and the stamps are in pretty good condition.
Hi Jerry. Germany seems to be everywhere when you collect stamps. Still I love them and I am limiting myself now to current Germany and West Germany (or Federal Republic/BRD).
Thank you for another Very nice video. You do a nice job of presenting your collections. Some very nice stamps there. I really appreciate the cancels of the German post office.
Hi Jeffrey. The German post office can really do a good job. Maybe in the future I am going to focus a bit on cancellations, in a specific way. The way I have presented it now, is not the level I would like it to be, but it is a start and it is how it came. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hi Mark. Yeah, those Canada envelopes were a bit of a miss. That was pretty long ago, or it feels like it. But I have received a lot of quality Canadian stamps from a lot of people after that :-).
@@chrislovesstamps Oh, I was referring to what it would cost me here in Canada to get two lovely stock books of hundreds of nice stamps like this. It would cost me far more than 20 Euros! I'd pay that for shipping, or stockbooks, or stamps. But not all three! 😁
@@MarkDyck I was struggling at first what you meant, but then thought you referred to the envelopes with 1500 Canadian stamps :-) Yep, postage from and to the US/Canada is insane. It is the sole reason why I don't have a Scott or Unitrade catalogue (yet). But even regular postage is expensive. Although I am happy I collect stamps, since they are small and lightweight so it enables me to sometimes order something from North America.
Very nice collection of German stamps and great price! Germany is one of my favorite areas to collect because of all of the history from the states, imperial era, war issues, west and east, Berlin, etc. I also love those W. German definitive series like the castles, technology, famous women, etc. that were issued over such a long time. I collect used stamps but because of the devaluation of the Deutschmark, mint from that era are now much easier to find so I'll keep a copy both used an unused.
Hi. So much history indeed. Exactly the reason why I limit myself to BRD (Federal Republic) for now. Those definitive series are really nice indeed. Organising them together is such a fulfilling thing :-) I am considering to collect mint for the pre-Euro currency era and used after 2001. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Another fantastic episode Chris. I have not dived into German stamps yet although I have a lot of them lying around. They have always intimidated me a little because it is such a wide area to collect. So many regions, changes, etc. but you have sparked my interest. And I agree with you on a lot of the modern ones you highlighted; attractive definitives and commemoratives that will look great when displayed properly.
Hi Jeff. I can see that they are intimidating. They are in a sense. That is why I focus on current Germany and BRD (or Federal Republic), for now. I get that often too, when I watch other people's videos...I want to collect what I see. To remain sane (at least for me) I have to put bounderies and restrictions in place. I also tell myself there is still time to collect what I 'should not' collect now. Thanks for watching and commenting! And good to see a new video of you! Don't feel pressured though.
Hi Wojtek. So you are pretty much done with your collection, or have come to a point where it is hard to add stamps without breaking the bank? Thanks for watching and commenting!
Pretty nice... for German stamps! Just kidding, although sometimes I keep forgetting that the war ended almost 80 years ago! 😊 Truly, this looks like a great deal for only $20! Thank you so much for sharing, mon ami !
@chrislovesstamps Always!!!! 😆 Although I waited until 1991 (I was 23) to finally decide to cross the border from my native Lorraine (I was born and raised at the border with Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany). I had spent plenty of times in Luxemburg and Belgium.. but stubbornly refused to go to Germany (family war stories). One day (in 1991) I decided to meet that guy from Bochum in Saarbrucken... and we had a fabulous time. My inner peace with Germany started back then! Cheers from Provence, mon ami
Yep, distance foe some people means we can speak or think bad about them without a consequence. Not saying you did that. But not being connected to people that have different opinions, lives, backgrounds really limits your own tolerance to things. I think us stamp collectors have a natural open-mindedness. Thanks for your nice little story, was nice to read. Are you still in contact with that person?
i collect german stamps but have not had chance to do anything recently with my collection. i like pre ww2 stamps and i like cancels. also own a few postal covers and ww2 letters from the front. great vid. i love what you do
Hi Peter. The cancels of German stampscan be really nice. Pre ww2 is a nice area too to collect. For now I limit myself a bit to BRD/Federal Republic and current Germany. There is so much to collect, and not only Germany :-) Are you collecting and if so, what do you collect?
Hi Chris! A very nice video again. You know how much I like your style. I think you found an excellent buy for starting with your German collection again. That album is packed with stamps, and it is nice that some of the stamps are new for you. They are also in very good condition. I do not collect Germany, but has been tempted to do so frequently. I like the interesting German history and the stamps portraying it. Many of the modern stamps are beautiful. My surname and probably large part of my genetics is German, and I feel a bit of kinship with the country. Thanks for a very nice share of the album! Enjoy your weekend!🙂
Hi Charnie. Really lovely comment about complimenting 'my style'. I do like your enthousiasm and how naturally you display it. I know a lot of viewers like that. And I like you made a new video, although you are not settled yet. Was a bit surprised you visited Tauranga (Stamp Fair) again, wasn't that far away from you now? I get the kinship you feel. I have that too. I think there is not much of a difference between Germany and Netherlands anyway, although some beg to differ, which is okay :-)
@@chrislovesstamps I REALLY like your style! I took the footage of the Fair long before we moved (the Fair was in September). I was just VERY slow with editing the video and posting it!!!!

I also love the BRD era - I spent time in Germany during the early 1990s so that era is special. The stamps from the post unification, privatization of the Deutsche Post are OK but don't have the same feeling for me.
I agree with you there. Not as appealing as before 1990. Some current German stamps are kinda silly. But some are fun to collect. I love the lighthouse series for example. The World of Letters definitives are not that good, but they are interesting to collect. I might do a separate video on them.
@@chrislovesstamps Yeah I feel you with the current stamps in Germany. Maybe its only my opinion but since 2000 the stamp designs getting worse.. don’t know but if you look to the 50 till late 90s some designs are so beautiful.
