@@Alexandra-lx4jq no!
@@Alexandra-lx4jq It ok! I am sure they see strange spellings every day.
@@Alexandra-lx4jq The birthday wishes were appreciated!!
Haha Raynor says thanks :)
Raynor is very serious about his work. Deeply concentrating so it is done to perfection. Better take your crunchy chips somewhere else Chrome. He has serious work to do ❤
I've been running my $200 Chinese diesel heater for 3 years now with no issues except for the dimming of the LED control panel. I always run my on high only. I purchased extra parts but never had to use them yet. I'm going to go for a 4th winter before considering service. I love my heater !!!!! Oh yeh , forgot to mention it is connected with an hour meter. 743 hours. Wish me luck on the 4th winter. I believe a proper install is the key to success !! Love you guys.
THAT IS AWESOME.
You're a powerhouse, dude. The work you put in your videos and the way you just never stop posting is really something. Hats off to you!
Thanks I really appreciate the love
Wow! Raynor took that heator apart like he was disassembling a BLT sandwich. He knew exactly what every part was and the name and what it does, etc... He's a boss with that stuff! He must have done that a million times. and he put it back together with such ease. No problem!
Thanks Chrome and Raynor for showing us the inner workings of the heater!
There's a big difference from the Gas one and Diesel one, the Diesel ones no matter what brand will gum up the burn chamber
Yup -- gas burns a lot cleaner than diesel. Plus Chrome has one of the better brands. The cheap diesel heaters need to be cleaned out once a year but, of course, everyone waits until they quit working . . . and then they clean 'em (or pay someone else to clean 'em) because they have to. :(
Makes me love our Wave 6 even more -- 22 years of service so far -- 100% efficient -- *zero* carbon monoxide -- and *zero* maintenance. :)
@@sail4free1 You can run the diesel Webasto style heaters on kerosene which burns cleaner, though you lose a few BTU's. In the confines of a van the difference is negligible. There is also less(almost no) odor from the heaters exhaust on kerosene.
As a truck driver we get the diesel webasto 2000 stock as a bunk heater in most modern trucks. We don't baby that thing and just run it when we're cold. It just starts and runs when we turn it on I've never ever had one single problem with a webasto diesel heater.
@@Biggja22 -- But I suspect you're rolling with engine heat most of the time. Your actual diesel heater run hours will pale compared to a typical van dweller who might average no more than an hour or two of drive time per day . . . if that.
@@sail4free1 during the winter months I'd say the diesel bunk heater runs at least 10 hours a day while I'm parked on break.
Madison is correct about the scan tool. Having someone that’s able to look at the codes and clear them vs someone guessing especially with a heater is not the best decision.
Stay safe out there!!
So nice to meet you and the other day at Ray's Outfitted. I'm also getting a heater installed in my truck camper so this video was perfect for me to watch, thank you!
What a great idea to run the exhaust from the heater next to the vans exhaust. Vantastic
Awesome! That place is so cool and super knowledgeable about almost everything it seems! Love seeing the pups in the beginning very cute!
Enjoyed this heater repair video!! Great job!!!
I always appreciate these kinds of videos you do. Please keep on doing them. Have a great day Chrome & Cruz.
I’ve got a 24V diesel Webasto in my truck. It lives on a low setting 24/7 all winter, might get cranked up to 50% if it’s particularly cold. It’s now 10 years old and I’ve never serviced it once 😂 it just does it’s thing without complaint.
Wicked!!!!!
Chrome that was a very informative video. I had no idea those little heaters were so intricate…
Thank you for sharing
Safe travels
When I have a vehicle for full-time living someday I hope to have a great place to take it like Ray Outfitted (I'm in USA now). Homes of all kinds need maintenance/repair. Happy travels!
Excellent content with the servicing of the Webasto as that is the exact unit that I bought as well thank you Chrome thank you Raynor and Madison!!
I’m always learning something new when I watch your videos. Very interesting stuff. Stay awesome!!!
.....diesel heater VS gas heater ..... the gas ones will be much cleaner with way less soot. And great advice Chrome
Glad everything in tip top shape for your drive back to BC much love to everyone at Ray outfitted
It is great when you interview professionals in the van industry and we learn how to tips.
You are about the van lifer that is not building a house, You're still on the road and I love your site.
I am happy you areawhere you are to get this heater fixed Chrome ! It is pretty cold in the morning's up here! Stay safe !
Wow Chrome. I have never, ever seen a heater that clean. Omg. Awesome heater.
I’m one of the lucky ones cheap Chinese diesel heater bought it for years ago only use it in the winter months never burn it off to clean it and just change the filter in the fall zero problems with it zero. Have never opened it to clean it out I always figured at the Hundred fifty I payed would just buy a new one some day.
I did see in the manual when I installed mine that the end of the exhaust pipe should be facing the ground with a 10° angle away from your vehicle to avoid fire.. that being said I'm sure there are situations where it's OK to be mounted as you've mounted yours just for the record!
You got up off the floor better than I do. LOL
Still watching and loveing All the content...thanks chrome ..love from Australia...😎🇦🇺
I enjoyed your video, chrome, as always. Even if I'm not too sure what you're talking about! lol Happy you got your heater fixed. My love to you, Emi, Kelly, and Cruz. btw, you have some great friends at the shop!
This service is something that should be done every fall just to check the condition and readiness of the heater for winter.
Perfect timing, Chrome! I used mine in northern Ontario! It started throwing some service codes after the first use. Fortunately, I've made it back to BC, so I can service it while the nights are still in the mid teens. Keep up with the awesome videos! 👌
Where can you service the Webasto in BC please?
@@mirandafolland3440 Wabasto does list any service/dealers in Canada! WTF??? Might be worth the drive to Ray's. Or email them if they know anyone trustworthy out here. :)
Thank you Chrome for that information about your heater.. Enjoy rest of your day!
Take note of the tools and supplies your friend has in his shop so you can stock your shop up for your other friends that may need your help when you make it back to your home town. Great video. Thanks for sharing!
the shop who instaled my webasto told me that at 2000 hours its put a service error code for inspection
Need to protect the heaters fuel lines under the van from cold weather especially when the temp drops down and the cold wind is whipping , the cold wind will freeze your fuel lines and heater will stop
We know where Chrome's treats are...in Madison and Raynor's van. Called latte.
One other item. I added a copper pipe at the end of my exhaust with a ninety degree elbow and a short extension as I wanted the exhaust going down.
Better for the exhaust to exit the side or rear of the vehicle -- elbowing it *down* doesn't accomplish much. :(
Everybody needs a RayOutfitted in their vanlife!
Great video Chrome. I love all that techie stuff that Raynor does. Super interesting to watch! Aligning the two exhaust pipes was a clever move too.
I’m surprised Webasto didn’t sponsor today’s video. You’d be such a great ambassador for their brand. The condition of your heater was exceptional and proof that using tools the right way is key to a happy ending. 👍
Diesel versus gasoline makes a big a difference, Love my gas Eberspacher .
Hope u are having awesome Friday chrome. Take care.
I think the gasoline version would burn cleaner . I have one diesel heater that soots up much faster than the one I have on the other end of the bus .
Nice job very informative!
The acoustics in your shop 🥰
😄hi cromme your trip is epic your show is cool
Diesel fuel has oil in it thus has much more soot than a gasoline heater.
Great video
I’ll keep my Chinese diesel heater. Going on 2 years no issues at all.
That it awesome. I am hoping the one I have at the shop runs me. The long-haul is well. 💯

Did you get your lockers looked at yet? That looks like an awesome heater.
Yes, at the overlander event.
@@Step-n-Wolf I guess I must of missed the repair part?
@@bigbadjohn2543 didn't say repaired. You said looked at and it was looked at.
Nope I will do that when I get back to Vancouver island in a month or so
Thanks! That’s helpful.
Thank you for this video
Great info. Thank you
Cruze and chrome both love the snacks lol
This is a techie gem of a video, today!
The difference in the ones that have a lot of soot is that they run on diesel fuel whereas gas burns cleaner.
you use those Dorito's to start an outdoor fire too
Hey chrome that is so awesome that your heater is ready for winter and ray outfitted they are just an amazing company amazing people you and Cruz Are so much fun I always look forward to your videos and Emi and Kelli Thanks for taking us along I look forward to your next Adventure 🇺🇸♥️✌️👍🙂🐾🐾🚐🇨🇦
There you go baby that is no Chinese junk that is the heater baby 2years never been a part yeah baby pass me a wabasto awesome video 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦
Great video Chrome xx
Awesome video
quick question what about thermostat to regulate temp can that be used ?
Cant wait til you get back home chrome.
Crazy I got mine installed Oct of 2020. Last year had some problems, this year getting professional service. Ho2 error.
I recall having that error and I’m trying to remember if it had to do with the fuel tank being below 1/4 tank. Most seem to have a sensor that’s placed in your fuel tank that requires 1/4 tank.
@@LDPink60 flame failure or something, I've swamped out the filter and pump. All that's left is the burn chamber to be cleaned or replaced.
Weren’t you guys just in Ontario? Now you’re back at the shop in Vancouver.... whew, that’s quite a hike.
Nope that’s Ray Outfitted in Ontario. STILL HERE :)
I was going to ask have you have you ever think to fix the under care of the van and bring it back to new .....
I've been thinking about a comment you made in a previous video about heated lithium batteries throwing off your smart shunt. Thing is if you have a bluetooth battery 🔋 with its own direct info you could correct your smart shunts reading when u want and know the heater has run. Kinda annoying but it could still work.
What size tires are you running on your van ?
My Chinese runs on min for 12 hrs all the time but I tuned it with a sniffer, runs very lean
Going on 3 years.. pulled it apart last fall just put ir right back together. Wasn't worth a service, like Chromes It had nothing to clean
They look easy enough to clean and service, would it make sence to buy 2 cheap heaters and have one as a spare and if needed for extra heat in extream cold! Also clean at least 1 per year !!!
I believe that one of the main differences between the cheap and expensive heaters is that the cheap ones are usually DIY, and the expensive ones are generally installed by a professional. Poor instructions, and poor quality components such as incorrect fuel lines also contribute to the issue. Anyone who chooses to install a cheap knockoff heater needs to check out John McK47 video's before attempting installation.
I've been running a cheap one for 4 years now and have not had a problem.
And it runs all winter with never shutting off.
Never had it apart or problems.
SO is a gas heater better than a diesel ?? Inquiring minds want to know lol :) Peace
Yes
Are they as efficient as diesel heaters? Diesel has more btu
is there a difference between the cheap chinese vs better built one you have?
This is an Excellent Excellent Video....🍁🍁
Thank you so much Chrome 🌿👍👍🌿

What is the service code you got Chrome? I'm trying to troubleshoot my own Webasto which has thrown codes since it was installed. What code came up that made you want to get a cleaning?
When you see a code, just Google what that code is? I don’t remember what the code is but when I googled it, it says that is a need service code. the Wabaster heaters throw a service code after so many hours of use. I just use Google for information.
So can surfshark see what I am browsing?
gas heaters run cleaner, compare to diesel heater
Are you ever going to make it back to the west coast?
Yup I will be back later this month
🙋♀️
Is that beater EVER gonna make it home?
I am always at home EVERYWHERE
How about this for a service code? “Help… my goats ate my Chinese diesel heater!” Chewed through the diesel line, the wires to the battery… and the air intake hose. Squashed the exhaust pipe too 🤦♀️
Hahaha 🤣
Crome, I think she just called you a fatty boom aletty. 😅😅😅
This is A bummer that it’s not easy enough to service your own there are not very much Service places to do that in the USA ! Hot bottle it is 😂😂😂😂
diesel creates more soot vs. gasoline.
Be careful I know the heater is not supposed to be run when the ambient temperature is above 68°F whatever that is in Celsius I'm sorry!! 🤪
Your home is showing its age
