I remember seeing this on TV, and they just seemed so outrageous and dangerous and a bit scary. It was exciting. I don't think there's any pop music that does that anymore.
they went straight to Brixton Academy after this show and played a great show. Support from Jamie Hince's (The Kills) first band, Scarfo... good gig, great times
Actually the bands were given the option to sing over a track of the song. A lot of artists didn't like to lip synch their performances. It's obvious this isn't a lip synch either.
I remember watching this on TOTP and I loved it straight away - i cant believe it was 12 years ago!! I got their album for my 15th birthday and was a Placebo fan for years until I heard Muse when I was 18.....but this is still amazing! Reminds me of school!
That's correct, they don't have time or space for sound engineers and such, so they play a backing track and at the band's request insert or remove vocals. Never see the time Nirvana performed and made a mockery of the whole set up?
god, he looks hot. But you do know this wasn't live, right? Nothing on totp was live. That's why it sounds exactly like the studio recording- because it is.
i love this song :D i loved their earlier stuff but i love the music they do now i think its good that they've developed. i very much doubt this wasn't live if you listen to it close enough there are definate imperfections and differences to the album version. placebo do not like playback there a video somewhere of brian throwing a tantrum after they were made to play playback once :)
@elisotta84 actually it's not nessesary to have a wire..:P i think u can play wireless..something like a mobile phone...XD lol...a lot o f artists play without a wire to move easier..
He's singing live, and they're really playing their instruments, but they're not plugged into anything, so those are a backing-track. Not by choice, either, studios back then never had the set-up for a fully live band; it's just how it was. Times before the mid-nineties, even singing live wasn't an option.
i read an atricle on this lmao he said he felt like a creep singing those lyrics to a group of like 15 yr olds lol
This performance was beyond epic.
I remember watching this on the Friday at 7:30pm and went straight in to Woolworths the next day to buy it on CD.
Woolworths! Then you went to British Home Stores to buy a lamp?
My favorite placebo song. Its so energetic and powerful. Just love it.
Cute little Brian looks crazy.
And I totally have the jacket he's wearing. Doesn't look quite as good on me though, lol
Wow, i've never seen Brian look so wide eyed O_O He looks wide awake lol
But as gorgeous as ever xD

jesus brian put the fucking sauce on this one

Can’t believe this was 13 years ago 😂
@@ashec I just came here to write that too lol
yeah, it does sound different now I listen more closely. I wish they were still making music like this...
Just perfect!!!
old placebo fashion: brian with a sleazy shinny suit, steve with a red shirt with flowers =))
This is so funny to look at:D
totally love it

excelent song and video!
i love it
People have different aesthetic tastes. I don't think he looks like a girl. I admire his attitude and musical talent more than anything.
@MrKranke I've never seen anything "live" on TOTP. Not sure why...live would be nice.
babe
hello pretty...
god, he looks hot. But you do know this wasn't live, right? Nothing on totp was live. That's why it sounds exactly like the studio recording- because it is.
Everything but the vocals was playback, as was the norm on TOTP. Some acts thought they could get away with all of it on playback.
Man.
@tmnnerd
How awesome was Nirvana for doing that though? lol

This is the radio version, TOTP was all lip sync barr one or two I think.
@@FatterTony This sounded like the vocals were live but not the instruments
Ironic really that Brian had the same hairstyle as Rhona Cameron when they were on “buzzcocks “
Glam version of Nirvana.
I remember seeing/hearing this on Top of The Pops for the first time, I thought he was a woman!
Hook line

How good? Seriously? Also NODDY HOLDER (we're not worthy)....
so, he's really singing but the band aren't really playing?

i know they were addict but here, i mean he looks completly high
thats the guy from slade :L:L
its a playback, isnt it? :O
He's a boy wearing a dress. And no I am not kidding.
Is anything wrong with that? The way you said it makes it seem so.
@@Exile_ok I made this comment 12 years ago I honestly don't remember what I was thinking. It was probably positive I had a huge crush on him.
@@Exile_ok and now harry styles etc wears dresses too. nothing's new I guess!
is he on drugs ?
Still better than any song written by Noel Gallagher. Lol
It's heavy and cool, but at the same time it's Homo Promo writ large. Sorry lads, or is that "ladies" ??
Hes bi according to wikipedia
