Nancy Boy lyrics:
Alcoholic kind of mood
Lose my clothes, lose my lube
Cruising for a piece of fun
Looking out for number one
Different partner every night
So narcotic outta sight
What a gas, what a beautiful ass
And it all breaks down at the role reversal
Got the muse in my head, she's universal
Spinning me round, she's coming over me
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal
Got the muse in my head, she's universal
Spinning me round, she's coming over me
Kind of buzz that lasts for days
Had some help from insect ways
Comes across all shy and coy
Just another Nancy Boy
Woman man or modern Monkey
Just another happy junkie
Fifty pounds press my button going down
And it all breaks down at the role reversal
Got the muse in my head, she's universal
Spinning me round, she's coming over me
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal
Got the muse in my head, she's universal
Spinning me round, she's coming over me
Does his makeup in his room
Douse himself with cheap perfume
Eyeholes in a paper bag
Greatest lay I ever had
Kind of guy who mates for life
Gotta help him find a wife
We're a couple
When our bodies double
And it all breaks down at the role reversal
Got the muse in my head, she's universal
Spinning me round, she's coming over me
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal
Got the muse in my head, she's universal
Spinning me round, she's coming over me
And it all breaks down at the role reversal
Got the muse in my head, she's universal
Spinning me round, she's coming over me
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal
Got the muse in my head, she's universal
Spinning me round, she's coming over me
That bass riff after the guitar solo is brilliant!
This was the first time I ever saw them, sat on the sofa in summer watching the Jools Holland show in the 90's. They were the days! :D
same!
😀double same
👍🏴
Can't really get the fact that not many people know about Placebo. Absolute gems.
I wish I was old enough back then to have been able to see these guys perform this live. Always looks like an amazing time :)
They are touring next year buddy.
I got tickets 😍🥰😍🥰
Saw them supporting Bush in Liverpool krazy house 96/97 not sure. For a while we though they were Bush.. ☺️
Loud dark sweaty 👍
I'll be at the wiener stadthalle in Vienna this November. Front of stage to enjoy an amazing band
@@SteveAFCLondon Unfortunately he won't have the chance to see them. He died a couple of years ago. But as he said in a comment under one of his videos, he did see them at some point, so that's something.
i love Brian.. he was and still is so sweet and beautiful.. placebo forever ♡
Roberta Canu
👍🏻👍🏻
Cool eyes UwU.
If they could only invent a time machine, i'd love to go back to the 90s! Great music, great friends and great times!
Loving these vids, really showing people how talented a drummer Steve really is/was.
Dokka Chapman and you hear them now and you miss him even more
Every time I listen to this album on headphones his drumming blows me away!
My wife babysat Steven. We had a picture magnet of his I believe now ex wife and him on our fridge for years and years. I hadn't heard of them until she told me about the story.
@@giseerouchon Don't think he played on the album. He's good, though.
Robert Schultzberg played on the debut album, he left the band in 96.
I can't believe this song is 25 years old now. crazy.
As good as ever!
I saw this live! On tv tho... i was a kid. Im a musician now. Molko and others (reznor, bowie, nomi, yorke, björk, waits, dylan, delarocha, murphy, siouxsie, coker, hahah this went long and can keep going 4 pages) are the main reason I started doing music
Being a bassist that doesn't love a lot of treble in my bass tone, I've always loved this song and kind of dealt with the bass tone, but this tone gives me the goosebumps. Damn when the bass comes in!!
I especially love the descending lines at 2:43, I love this band 💕
Yeah, this performance showed Stefan's cracking bass lines, I especially like the bass during the bridge, although the entire song is amazing through the soundbar turned right up!!
The mix for the sounds they had for this performance on Jools Holland was pretty fucking good.
Beauty Nancy Boy and great song! ♥
The LAST of the BIG TIME ROCKERS . . . Always a pleasure
Saw them at the Elysee Montmartre in Paris in 1997. Did not know them before the show, was invited by a friend. GREAT concert in a small venue, great memory. Managed to catch the drummer's stick at the end of the show. Still have it in a drawer...
it's fucking lucky!!!
Saw them back in ‘98 as an opening act for Garbage. Thought I was more of a Garbage fan but Placebo rocked live! That was back in the day when they had their ‘Every You, Every Me’ single on the Cruel Intentions soundtrack. That was sweet live!
Man...summer 97 i was finnishing my degree in furniture design and THIS came on the radio and let me tell you there was a LOT of good music about but this was wow
Every time I listen to this song and see 90s Brian I can't help but feel insanely grateful that when I first discovered Placebo they were in their 'Ashtray Heart' phase (and didn't think much of them tbh). But this "backwards" way allowed me to finally GET why so many people worship them.
so incredible what a song one of my all time favorite
I cant think of any way to improve this song, except by making it go on for about 10 minutes, as I cant get enough of it, I missed Placebo for some reason until, about 7 years ago, when i saw them on their last Australian tour , now I'm 72 , but if they ever return , I'll be there.
Watching this live changed my outlook on bands at the time.
I was 15 or 16. Trying to find to alternative music anywhere I could.
Great to see again!
Nancy Boy Is back again 2024
Que felicidad ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Can't wait to finally watch you live, my first download!
What a band still awesome
I can't belive placebo are English haha that country is mad it has the best bands of all time

Placebo are not English get your facts right
paddtman33........ couldnt you correct Josh without being a douche about it?
This was the first time I’d seen or heard of them and my reaction was this .. 😳
And just like that I was hooked ! Awesome band ✊
👍🏴
Such an amazing performance. Sorry I missed it the first time around. I never used to watch Jools Holland. Thanks for sharing.
That is a fucking great bass sound. You da man Stefan.
Such a great song, Loved it when it came out still love it now all these years later......
Mesmerising! The guitars are everything 🙌 😍
You guys are AWESOME. Top of your game. Superb musicianship.
I'm a straight guy.
Just don't let me look at Brian Molko.
It seems we are all not so straight here 😂
He's brilliant.
I hear ya...same!
You got the muse in your head and she's universal.
I remember watching this episode in my teens and asking everyone who these guys were. Never heard of them, but couldn't get this song out of my head.
...I love you Placebo more than anything ♥
👍🏻👍🏻 👍🏻👍🏻
I wish I could go back in time and watch this cute thing live^^
The PLAY bit on the top left is a lovely touch
Lethal 3 piece playing here, rocks so hard!
Oh my god, so awesome!!!
They were very good at making catchy songs out of as few as one chord
Me encanta mucho placebo sin duda el mejor
Awesome! I'm loving theses videos, please keep them coming :)
Brilliant live, bravo 👏
absolutely love
A tour de force!!
The bit after the feedback, that bassline is something else
Best goth revival band ever
Totally agree with u,Josh !!
Great live
What a fucking performance is all I can say. Now that’s what you call real life music. Three musicians who can play. Not like the shit today with auto voice tune and backing music. Fucking great band. Love it.
I think of many bands around today with vastly more skilled musicians then this, what Brian his playing here is basic punk-rock power chords bands like Rival Sons are on another level.
@@adamknight7041 Or Muse!
@@adamknight7041 youd be surprised how difficult it is to sound good with simple power chords .. Blink 182 comes to mind, 3rd Eye Blind the guy cant sing for sh*t
My first ever concert Placebo 💚
Arabella L but this wasn't a concert......?
Saw them a few years ago and Brian is still hot
So prettyyy 😍
Omg brian is so hot.
Best Placebo song imho
oh my god...! my little cute and beautiful thing...!! ♡
I could purr for hours if I was a cat.
all rise for the national anthem
super! Full power
Thank you. 💕
Gave up on this lot seeing them at Brixton 2001 and they had session musicians behind a curtain doing most of the leg work
Honestly, fucking ell 😂, horrendous that
Went to school with ste on the drums great lad
.ucking BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!
Great !
Gold
i Love it
Los amo.
the audience was just not ready for this show...
Right on the money! 🎸🤘
очень здорово :D
I cooked for Placebo, thats my claim to fame
What u make em ?
@@147breaks Brian and Stefan came into a Creperie I worked in before their gig in Exeter back in the 90s. They had savoury crepes, cant remember the filling tho
@@IAMNationX ha ha nice one
Even my grandad likes this
Brian is Rimbaud, Verlaine Bowie... past lives, present, yes Verlaine is again gone. I was near their era but just later, also a poet.
OMFG you can sing that voice, mmmmm NICE 😜
WOW
Nancy Brian.
Menacing. That's the word I've decided to describe this sound.
But with sweet melodies. Bitter sweet. I don't fkn know.
I'm old enough that I saw these guys supporting The Prodigy in Glasgow... 1997 I think?
2019 :)
Would love to know what that background music to the intro and outro is or how it was produced; has that underdog power ruminating.
+Evilis Anihilis Uls it's the beginning of the track 'HK Farewell'. It's the secret track off their debut album. If you enjoy that you should give 'Hugbubble' and 'Hare Krishna' a try, they are equally as strange.
***** Does it have that rumbling sound? I've listened to those two except 'Hare Krishna'.
yeah it's how the track starts, but you've gotta really listen. 'Hare Krishna' is from the single '36 Degrees'
its on the money magic
I'm not here for the way Brian looks, I'm here for the way he sings
The 90s were the best.
Without a doubt . Great guitar bands about
BEM LOKO!
Brian, warum so agressiv?Dieses Wochenende Rock am Ring. Placebo.❤
Never heard this with the (what seems to be) added 'she, he /she/he' at the end of each 'she's coming over me' line. Was this dropped for probably obvious reasons (at the time) or added in on this occasion, or am I just not hearing it in there any other time?
Bass player will always be a head on a bench

Young Brian :3
gorg
Terrific
Is that a candy necklace on the mic?!
Yes, it is! Remember such necklaces from my childhood 😁
Just another Nancy Boy *u*
Fit
When placebo had some fire in them, now they are old. Stop playing when you find out your angry young period is done, be legend dont become rolling stones
Paul Wevers Rolling Stones still have energy.
N.R.G.😮
4 people disliked this , really ?
Get a life.
Stephen Wilkinson just another Nancy boy (4 of em) ...
All that from 3 people. Sounds like there's 3 guitars
He reminds me of Milly from This Life here...
I have a sweet thing when British bands do songs that reminds me of Nirvana/sonic youth. Can anyone help me give any other examples ? ( i only know Radiohead, placebo, and song 2 by blur :v)
I don't know about reminding you of Nirvana or Sonic Youth but a band from the period that you should get into if you haven't is Manic Street Preachers - specifically the Generation Terrorists album.
Is this not lip synced? Crazy
Brit-Grunge :)
