Hey lovelies, in this video I am creating some beautiful cosy Christmas tea light holders using some new moulds purchased from Amazon. The first set are two candle columns and the second are two snowflake moulds. I am using Jesmonite AC100 as this is a heat resistant medium and I can confidently use real tea light candles with them.

First off: I NEVER took physics. 😂😂😂I learned this from my brother-in-law... The base has to be bigger than the length of whatever it is holding up. Take a wine glass, measure the height of it. Then measure the base of the stem. The base is larger around than the height. Physics. That is why the mold wanted to topple over. That aside, I love the tea lights ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Especially the candle stick holders. I am so sorry they were so hard to de-mold. But the jesmonite is gorgeous. I love that green!!!! Awesome video ❤❤❤❤
Despite the mould issues, they turned out gorgeous!! That Zen green is my absolute favorite color!!!!

Try putting the moulds in a glass to hold them upright . Beautiful by the way .

They are lovely!! Cut silicone molds cam be reused by sealing the cut with hot glue then I use duct tape over it to hold it together (just wrap it around) and you're good to go. I guess the silicone quality matters, but this should work!!❤ 10:15

I’ve seen people put them into cups or containers to hold molds that are so soft.
Very pretty. Sad that you had to lose your molds. Would love to see those beautiful snowflakes in a glittery or pearly white.
They look so pretty Claire. Maybe try warming the wax you use to seal and pouring that down into the mould.🫶
Despite the molds having to be cut to get the candlesticks out, this is a successful video. Love the snowflake tealight holders, and the candlesticks are pretty. The glitter adds a nice touch.
Oh how sad when you have a cut a mold 😢but they loook beautiful 🤩 I think I will get some for myself especially the snowflakes ❄️ they are adorable I just would use resin and maybe some mold release in the candlestick holders.

I didn't see comments for previous video. I don't know if you can get diamond glaze out of America but I find it amazing for sealing resincrete. Gives it a beautiful shine besides!
Think about leaving a comment on their place on Amazon so people know that Jasmante (sp) cannot be used. But the tea light was so pretty!
Use glitter on them mix in that resin stuff I'm sure it looks more better with glitter and also clear glitter too and any colors in glitter

Put the mold in a cup with salt or rice in it to keep it stable while the resin sets.

I've had molds like that, just a little bit wobbly. But I always have some plastic solo cups on stand by just in case...
that mold should be in two halfs, nevertheless they turn out very pretty
these turned out awesome, I am wary buying tealight holder molds, I recently got a spider tealight holder mold off a "cheap" website and made some up , BUT the part where the candle is to sit is to small by about 4mm . i used jesmonite first up and thought is may shrink to much once set as i am new to jesmonite and the i tried epoxy resin and still had the same issue , i now call these mini ring trays :)
I bought these same moulds from Temu. My husband couldn't de-mould mine either. I ended up using cooking spray inside the mould. It slipped easily afterwards.
Nightmare having to cut the mould. I lost a chess set mould like that :( With resin you can demould in a bowl of soapy water. Not sure it'd work with Jesmonite though. The makes are gorgeous though Claire. Love them
Instead of baby oil maybe you could have used olive oil or vegetable oil? Maybe plain liquid soap? Sorry you had to cut the moulds. The shape is fantastic and absolutely love the color! If you change your mind and decide to buy the moulds again and would you try jesmonite (sp?) again & try different demoulding techniques? I could see a clear resin with some glitter suspended throughout - think it would be gorgeous!! 9:11
If you had cut it in a straight line it would have been salvageable as many silicone moulds actually come apart (like super intricate candle moulds) so keep that in mind next time but the end is worth it
What a bummer about the mold, but at least the results are stunning.
I have the same molds and they are super hard to get off. My husband had a hard time getting them off too. We sprayed alcohol on the outside, or you could put them in soapy water to flip inside out.

Well, crap, that's too bad that the molds sucked. The result is amazing though. Love them all. Again, yep, that's my color, too.
A question & a suggestion.
Q. Can you use silicone mould release spray in a silicone mould that you then pour Jesmonite? (Sorry, I don’t know how to spell it)
Suggestion, I think what would go perfect with the candle mould you broke is something I think would work well with broken off bits that are then superglued back together. Use a metallic pen or paint & draw over the crack. And then draw darkish lines maybe to mimic a crack or miss this bit out altogether & then paint cracks over the rest of the item. You could create the look where someone breaks a ceramic item, they superglue it back together & they draw/paint over the cracks in metallic to create a stunning piece from something broken that you would normally bin!! Or… use metallic colours but also some lighter pastel shades to create a marble effect. So I would go for greens, gold, maybe bronze/copper shades or for it to stand right out, silver to greys. Maybe you could have a go Claire & let us see the result on your candle holder.
Your snowflakes look beautiful. It is a shame you didn’t have time for a sprinkle of glitter but they came out really well & I want to make some of my own.

I bought 3 of them and used plaster. Broke many but still have the moulds in one piece.
Ohhhhh ... how did you get them out ?? Just stretch the silicone ?
It was far from easy. I put the moulds into warm soapy water. The warmth made the mould more stretchy and soft and the soapy water helped the the mould over itself. Jesmonite is so expensive here in NZ so have never used it and I don't have a deep pour resin so plaster it was.
I really like that color. Do you think that glitter sprinkling would work with Resin Crete? I like the subtlety

Did you try cool soapy water? It helps break the seal.
Next time... You come across this problem, get Tim to pop some air into the mold from an air compressor!! works like magic but make sure you hang onto it cause the mold will go flying!! Love the end result despite the damage!

I have these molds as well and have used them with resin and they are horrible to demold even using alcohol. I probably fought with them for over 30 minutes trying to get it out. Which is a shame cuz I think they have so much potential.

Maybe before you do anything else you can make new molds from your poured candle stick holders.

With Jesmonite, can you spray mold release first, then use alcohol to de-mold them?

What a disappointment! But the tee tree lights beautiful and yes they are all stunning - Claire can I ask what can you use to seal jesmonite stuff and is their anything you can put on resin to make it shine I have found that some of my pieces small stuff like resin keyring letters a bit dull and not shiny like some of my pieces?! ❤

Well doesn't that just stink? They are a nice shape though, pitty you couldn't save them.

Gutted you had to cut the mold. With the glitter, if you mixed glitter with the sealer and put it on the finished item would the glitter stay on them or rub off?

Another random thought, do you have access to an air compressor? In the past when I have had things get stuck in molds, shooting air down the sides have actually made the piece shoot out of the mold.
