Setting the record straight on the origins of Easter

  • Every year I see so many people trying to claim Easter is a pagan holiday. And it’s not just our atheist friends who do this. Our Jewish and Hebrew Roots friends join in as well. Let’s take a minute to set the record straight on these claims and examine the true origins of Easter. In this video we'll look at two big problems with the claim that Ishtar and Easter are related. We'll also talk about Eostre, the pagan spring fertility ritual. What's the deal with bunnies and easter eggs? Is Easter a man-made holiday? Should Christians be celebrating Easter?

    Thanks for this video! I certainly agree with most everything you said here, but I would like to respectfully push back on your claim that the name Easter itself does not derive from a pagan fertility goddess and that it has no connection to paganism. I think it's clear that it absolutely does. The pagan connections are deep and well documented and traceable throughout history going all the way back to "Mystery Babylon", the false religious system introduced after the Flood. When the languages were scrambled, the worship of this pagan goddess of heaven was exported to all of the nations. The ancient Sumerian goddess Innana, the ancient Canaanites goddess Ashtoreth, the ancient Babylonian Ishtar, the Greek Astarte, and her rites and rituals were practiced in the Spring around the equinox. The ancients would bake cakes to the goddess of heaven, which we see crept into the Israelites culture as well, prompting eventual judgment from God. Jeremiah speaks of this in Jeremiah 7:18. Do you really think Christians invented "hot cross buns?" Of course not, that is an ancient pagan spring fertility practice that connect with the pagan queen of heaven, as is even told to us in this passage quite clearly - and that God hates it. When Christianity was artificially mainstreamed throughout the pagan Roman Empire, it is a documented fact that mainstream Christianity did not convert the world, but rather they embraced much of the pagan elements that already existed as the masses became Christian in name only due to political expedience without a true conversion experience. I could go on and on about this. It's been well documented in history. Now, with all that being said, I don't believe that Christians who celebrate the resurrection on "Easter" are committing some sort of sin, but I do think that if we are aware of this, it would be better to avoid the term Easter and the later traditions that arose after mainstream "Christianity" had been in many ways corrupted in the centuries following the New Testament era. I'm sure your aware that Constantine banned certain Christians from celebrating Christ's death and resurrection on Passover. Much was done during this time period to disassociate Christianity from its true roots due to rampant anti-Semitism. I don't find it particularly enlightening to continue following those off-base traditions today. But I also don't think its an issue worth dividing on! God bless!

    While we can toss out the Ishtar (alleged) connection, the reaction against "Easter" is legitimate for other reasons, some of which you mentioned (bunnies, eggs, etc.). The main issue is the (intentional) distancing of this "Holiday" from the moed/appointed time of YHVH as the commanded Holy Day--both in practice, in its historical sequence of days, and it's prophetic fulfillment (Christ as Passover Lamb slain on the 14th; Christ "resting" in the tomb on a High Shabbat; Christ raising from the dead on the day of the wave offering as the first fruits of the resurrection). There is danger not only in the secularization of the "holiday" from its spiritual roots as a Holy Day, there is "danger" in separating the day from the actual timing on God's calendar. While "First Fruits" (so called) is always on a Sunday, Passover is not always 3 days in advance of that and has other prophetic significance. Also, the intentional use of the term "Easter" in the KJV and the history of the RCC intentionally distancing the "Church" from its "Jewish heritage" is problamatic. Lastly, while celebrating "Resurrection Sunday" is a wonderful way to commemorate that event, I find it intersesting that what Jesus commanded us to do was tied to Pesach--to remember His DEATH until He comes. For your consideration. Shabbat shalom!

    • @TheBiblicalRoots

      Thanks for your insightful comments, Suzan. Yes, the clash in the early church was between the Quartodecimans (Christians who celebrated the Resurrection on the 14th day of Nisan, according with Passover) and the Christians who believed that the Resurrection should be celebrated on the first day of the week (Sunday), since that was the day of the week on which Yeshua arose. They ultimately chose the first Sunday following Passover so that it is still tied to the Jewish calendar (more or less).
      I opted not to get into the date in this video since that particular controversy has long been settled in Christianity. Only a small percentage of people have a problem with that aspect of Easter. However, I do think the topic merits a separate discussion!
      BTW Maybe I'm missing something but in the Gospels, at the Last Supper, Yeshua does not specifically command us to remember his DEATH until He comes. The idea of remembrance is only mentioned in Luke, where He says, "Do this in remembrance of me."

      @@TheBiblicalRoots Thank you for the reply. Two things I can say with certainty on this issue: 1) His appointed times are important (to Him and to us for future fulfillment), and this "move" away from His calendar to a Romish one is something of import; and 2) He expects us to obey/follow His commandments. Insofar as remembering His death, I was referring to this passage: "23For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.' 25In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.' 26For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes." @@TheBiblicalRoots I do agree with you regarding the most important point you make: that the resurrection is the most important event in history. But the rest of what you say doesn't seem to comport with this assertion. Let me explain.
      FIRST, the Church has always celebrated the resurrection on the Lord's Day, every Lord's Day. By making a special, one day a year celebration of the resurrection, you actually minimize the event instead of exalting it to the status it deserves. This teaching focuses on the Resurrection one day a year instead of the fifty two days that Christ has given us.
      SECOND, when Eve was tempted in the Garden she first added to the Word of God by saying that she was not to touch the fruit; then she quickly proceeded to take away from the Word by eating the forbidden fruit. It is the same with man-made holydays. People add holydays while taking away the fulness of the Lord's Day. It is easy to see that we, as a society, when adding to our numerous holydays, the Lord's Day becomes less and less important.
      THIRD, the resurrection is so important that it put Christ on the right hand of the Father where he is ruling all things. It is Christ, as King, who tells us how we are to worship him, not satan or our wicked hearts (Jeremiah 17:9). When you tell people that it is glorifying to God to worship him by our tradition (Mark 7:5-8), you sit in the seat of Christ as the Pharisees sat in the seat of Moses (Matt. 23:2). While the Pharisees had the right and duty to do so, because Moses was dead, you, on the other hand, have no right because Christ is risen and continues to rule. Again your claim of the importance of Christ's resurrection is diminished by your teaching, not exalted.
      Folks, if the God who is Love, thought that it was profitable to teach ourselves and children about the resurrection by continuing the Passover tradition, or eating chocolate bunnies and searching for eggs, he would have shared it with us in his Word. Both of these traditions are lies that dishonor God and curse those that participate in them. The Word of God is plenary, there is no reason to add to it or take away from it.

    • @TheBiblicalRoots
      @TheBiblicalRoots  3 роки тому +1

      @@Project-pq1qh Excellent points! Thank you. I love a good discussion with intelligent and respectful folks like you.
      1.) Is it your opinion that the taking of communion is a celebration of the Resurrection? From Scripture, it seems the sacrament of the Lord's Supper was given to commemorate His death, rather than His resurrection. "For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes" (1 Cor 11:26). Also, FWIW, a once-a-year celebration strikes me as more special, set-apart, and exalted than a weekly reminder. But reasonable people can differ!
      2. & 3.) We're in agreement that the Lord's Day should be revered and that it is Christ, as our King, who has the authority to tell us how to worship Him! But Scripture does not purport to provide an exhaustive list of all the acceptable ways to worship our Lord. It gives us many guidelines-such as guarding our motivations (Matt 6:5-6) and worshipping in spirit and truth (John 4:23)-but we are also given freedom in Christ (Gal 5). And there is nothing inherently wrong with man-made traditions. Even Jesus celebrated them (John 10:22-23)! The problem comes when, as Jesus said in the passage you cited, we "leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” It's not traditions alone that are sinful, it's when they replace the commandments of God. Traditions should never be given the weight or authority of Scripture.

    • @Project-pq1qh
      @Project-pq1qh 3 роки тому

      @@TheBiblicalRoots I do agree that the Supper represents the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. It is the day, the first day of the week, or the Lord's Day, when Jesus exited the tomb which signifies the resurrection.
      While it is well said that the resurrection should be special and remembered, it may be better said to be the foundation of our lives and worship. How can we go a day without remember the resurrection after a sinful day. Where is the comfort, where is God's glory. How are we to gather to worship God without first repenting of our sins (which the Bible refers to "preparing our hearts") and then thanking God for providing a way of reconciliation. The death and resurrection is the foundation of all worship. True worship cannot be performed without these two historical events being primary.
      Listen to Jesus' own words and how they speak to the whole of Scripture; that Christ must suffer and then rise from the dead.
      Luk 24:44-47 KJV - And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
      It may be said that making the resurrection a "special" event instead of the foundation of our lives and worship has led to a society that denies they are sinners but instead looks forward to searching for shiny colorful eggs once a year. Maybe it's a bit much to lay such a charge solely at the feet of Easter, but it surely is not innocence.
      Regarding worship, what is your understanding of the second commandment?

    • @TheBiblicalRoots
      @TheBiblicalRoots  3 роки тому +1

      @@Project-pq1qh Well said, sir! If the Resurrection is not true, our faith is useless. (1 Cor 15:13-14).
      Regarding the 2nd commandment, here's how I look at it. Paul taught that humanity’s tendency is not toward atheism but rather idolatry (Rom 1:18-32). Having rejected God, we are prone to invent all kinds of other gods to take the place of the One True God, Creator of heaven and earth. And it's not always deities like Ba'al or Vishnu we turn to. More often our "gods" are things like money, possessions, fame, power, or sex. That's the context in which I look at the second commandment today. Due to our proclivity toward idolatry, we are not to worship anything in place of God, and we are not to imagine or envision God as anything other than what He has revealed to us about Himself in His Word. That is how He is to be worshiped.

    “Is Easter pagan?”
    In this video you state that eggs and bunnies have nothing to do with the resurrection of Christ. That some believe Easter may refer back to the spring time fertility goddess Eostre and that our celebration has incorporated some traditions that date back to the pagans.
    That’s the entire gripe people have with the current holiday. You literally proved the point. You also didn’t even address why we celebrate Easter when we celebrate it. The date changes every year. Is that because Christians believe the dates Christ was crucified and resurrected change? Or could it be for some other non Biblical reason?

    • @TheBiblicalRoots
      @TheBiblicalRoots  3 роки тому +2

      Hey, Swamp Fox! There's no doubt that Easter has sadly become secularized and the secular parts of our modern celebration (bunnies, eggs, baskets of candy) may well have their roots in ancient paganism. I mentioned as much in the video.
      I don't want to assume, but it sounds like you're saying that when Christians celebrate the Resurrection of Christ they are unwittingly engaged in pagan worship because the secular observance of Easter incorporates bunnies and eggs. Do I have that right?
      BTW I opted not to get into the date in this video since that particular controversy has long been settled in Christianity. Only a small percentage of people have a problem with that aspect of Easter. However, I do think the topic is important and merits a separate discussion.

      @@TheBiblicalRoots Thank you for your response. I appreciate it. Very cool when creators engage with the audience.
      I don’t think the problem is with celebrating the resurrection of Christ. I agree with you that the resurrection itself and celebrating it has nothing to do with paganism. However, Easter as we know it today has pagan influence and man made traditions. At the very least these influences warrant consideration for discussion.
      Also, you pointed out Paul addressing food, blessings, etc. Paul was specifically addressing the Hebrew laws and not general pagan traditions. Paul wasn’t saying, if you bless food do it for the Lord and therefore every activity is justified for blessing God so it’s okay to adopt pagan traditions in the name of the Lord.

    • @TheBiblicalRoots
      @TheBiblicalRoots  3 роки тому +4

      @@swampfox8379 Good point. I agree that Paul wasn't saying Christians were free to engage in literally any activity as long as they thanked God for it. There would be obvious limits, such as anything inherently sinful. However, Paul did actually teach that Christians are free to eat food offered in sacrifice to pagan idols (1 Cor 8, 10). And that we can "Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience." (Which was not previously allowed under the Hebrew Law.) Eating food is not sinful, and we are free to enjoy even pagan sacrificial food as long as we are not causing someone else to stumble when doing so. Paul teaches this on the basis that idols aren't real (1 Cor 8:4) and everything is God's anyway (1 Cor 10:26).
      The application of these teachings to modern Easter would seem to be (1.) bunnies, colored eggs, and candy baskets are not inherently sinful so (2.) we are free to enjoy these "pagan" things (that, in reality, belong to God) as long as (3.) we are not causing someone else to stumble when doing so. It would of course be sinful to WORSHIP bunnies, eggs, or candy, so that's out of bounds! But merely including them in a cultural celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, who IS our object of worship, seems to me to fall well within our freedom as Christians.

    I firmly believe in the life, death, burial and resurrection Christ. Can you address why many call it Easter? If there is no reason to call it Easter, then we can avoid the whole discrepancy by dropping a namesake which has nothing to do with why we observe Christs death burial and resurrection.

      Hi, Andrew. As I explained in this video, and my other video on Easter (ua-cam.com/video/UkqsGnSZZwk/v-deo.html), most people around the world don't actually call it "Easter." And I've noticed it's becoming more common in the English-speaking world for churches to refer to it as Resurrection Sunday, which I think is a better name!

      No I know. I've just always wondered why people are so adamant to jettison any notion of a plausible correlation between pagan practice and the name "Easter" and yet are equally prone to calling it Easter at least in the culture we grew up in North America, which has no correlation to what we believe as followers of Christ. I think it's this failure to respond to accusations based on the usage of the name Easter which causes anybody to not take your response seriously who have no belief in Christ or the Bible. Why was it originally called Easter? I think this causes a lot of people not to take discussions of Holidays seriously. I know it doesn't change how we follow Christ, or what we believe. Yet it might be good to openly and honestly enter the conversation on all talking points that misconstrue and distract from what we believe. I love your response, and it shows you've been very thorough, but everyone that already disagrees will probably still be thinking "Well, why "Easter"? If there is no correlation then what does Easter refer to? If it's wrong should we not have the confidence to openly say it should never have been called that in the first place. I'm sorry this is such a long response.

    I believe that Passover foreshadows the resurrection. I believe it should be observed when God said to observe it. It’s interesting that it was the first thing the “forefathers” changed when the started chipping away at the set times appointed by God, and equally interesting that it took them so long to change it after Jesus died. 6:12 We really are supposed to have two witnesses from the Torah and the prophets. I can’t find it anywhere. Did the Bible ever indicate that there would be such a change coming?

      @@TheBiblicalRoots On Ishtar Sun Day the resurrected Sun rises in the EASTer. I think Easter is related to the word Ishtar. Same way all language is related. It goes back to the tower of Babel and the confusion of languages. The myth of Ishtar and Tammuz goes all the way back through history. The same myth is told in different languages by different people. Easter, Eostre, Oster,Ishtar, Istar, Astar, Astarte is all the same thing. It is the mother goddess. Paul had issues with the cult of Diana, which is the same goddess by another name. In Egypt she was Isis. In the Bible she is Ashtaroth. In Catholicism she is Mary.
      Why the KJ translators chose Easter for Pascha I don't know. Every other instance of pascha in the NT was translated Passover. If Luke was referring to the pagan spring festival it seems he would have used the Greek name for their festival, "Anthesteria" instead of pascha. You can kind of see the word easter in there.

      @@TheBiblicalRoots This is an excerpt from an article I wrote in the mid 1990s, which I researched from the Bible and old books in our local university library.
      Like people today, the ancient Israelites worshipped a diversity of gods with various beliefs, traditions, and rituals. As mentioned in the previous texts, two of their favorite deities were the god, Tammuz, and the goddess, Ashtoreth. These two were known throughout the ancient world by various names. Tammuz was also known as Dumuzzi, Baal, Osiris, and Adonis. Ashtoreth was known as Astarte, Astar, Ishtar, Isis, and Aphrodite. Today we would call her mother earth or mother nature. These religions were all concerned with nature.
      Life, for people of the ancient world, depended on the continuity and predictability of the cycles of nature. Modern man takes for granted the control these powers hold over our survival. We live by the paycheck and trust that the super center will supply whatever we need. The ancients were farmers and hunters totally reliant on the whims of nature. Therefore, their gods and their religions evolved out of their dependence on the powers of nature.
      The god, Tammuz, and the goddess, Ishtar, are depicted as the personification of the powers of nature. Their myth is told in relation to the changing of the seasons. Tammuz was the sun god and the god of vegetation. He brought life to the plant world in spring and summer. In the fall of the year, around the end of October, Tammuz would die. Ezekiel 8:14 states,“there sat women weeping for Tammuz.” Plants and vegetation died. Leaves fell from the trees as if they were dead. Ishtar was the moon goddess and goddess of fertility. Soon after the death of Tammuz, Ishtar descended into the underworld to search for Tammuz, her lost lover. Having found him, they would return together in spring, and life would be renewed. Ezekiel 8:16 says,“about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.”
      The ancients held religious holy days or holidays to commemorate these events. They lamented the death of Tammuz in the fall of the year. The trappings of our modern Halloween evolved from ancient rituals deploring the death of Tammuz.
      His return was anticipated in the dead of winter. They chose the winter solstice, near the end of December, for this holiday. From this point, the days gradually become longer until spring finally arrives. Anything that remained green year round was brought indoors to adorn the temples and homes, a reminder that life would return in spring.
      The long winter was climaxed by a celebration of spring. Ishtar had found her lost lover. The people faced the east and worshipped Tammuz, the sun god, as he was resurrected over the eastern horizon.
      God called these practices abomination. Yet, to this day, we continue to practice these same holidays with many of the same traditions and symbols. We have symbols of death on Halloween, the greenery of Christmas with baubles decorating evergreens to symbolize fruit, and symbols of fertility on Easter. Rabbits, being prolific breeders, and eggs were common fertility symbols.
      Easter has not evolved far from Ishtar, the virgin mother goddess of Babylon. Our word, for the direction east, comes from Easter. Many churches today have sunrise service on Easter Sunday. The congregation gathers outdoors, facing the east, to watch the sunrise.
      There are many stories in the Bible recounting the idolatry of the Israelites. Has Christianity followed in their footsteps? Deuteronomy 12:30-31 says, “How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God.” How did Christianity come to adopt the trappings and traditions of pagan nature worship?
      Easter always falls on Sunday, or the day of the sun god. For Easter Sunday, we might as well say Ishtar Sun Day. For the resurrection of the Son of God, we might as well say the resurrection of the sun god. For the virgin mother of the Son of God, we might as well say the virgin mother goddess. Even the annual date we choose for Easter is based on the pagan reconning. It is based on the first full moon following the Spring equinox. Then they take the nearest Sunday after that full moon.

    Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. Traditions come from “some place” and the symbols of Easter have dark roots. There is a time to celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ and He gave the example to His 12 disciples-He washed their feet, broke bread and drank new wine (fresh grape juice, not fermented). He said “do this In remembering me”. That is the “communion service”- the ordinance of humility (foot washing) & bread (this is a symbol of my body) and new wine (this is my blood). NOT EASTER which is a holiday invented by the Catholic Church. Which is the beast power of Daniel and Revelation. Constantine blended paganism and Christianity together after he became so called Christian. Perverting the word of God (Bible) and taking it away from the people so they wouldn’t understand God’s word was being changed! They ruled for over a thousand years!! Catholicism polluted the pure messages of Christ with pagan crap -that is why there was the protestant reformation. The “coming out of this false system of worship” and now people want to sweep that aside and be like “oh it’s ok now”. Really? All those reformers gave their lives for what you are trying to excuse as “ok”. We have to be very careful how we come to God with worship. Look at the example of Cain and Abel. Cain worshiped God how “he wanted to” Abel followed God’s instructions….only one sacrifice was accepted and they both had good “intentions”….think about that. The Catholic Church claims to be the mother of all churches and all her children (other churches) are just going right back to mamma. The Lord raised the reformers to bring back what the church polluted. This plays right into Bible Prophecy-true Bible Prophecy-the MARK of the Beast situation! That beast (an entity/power) is the Papal System as defined by most of the reformers. No original reformer would ever celebrate Easter! The Papal system has changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday by authority of themselves (their MARK of authority), changed baptisms to sprinkles, invented purgatory,…an SO much more!!

The particular date we choose to celebrate is far eclipsed by the importance of The Event being celebrated. Consequently, our focus this time of year should be on the victorious work of Christ, our Messiah, Who walked out of His grave that historical Sunday morning, defeating death and sin and reconciling mankind to God the Father.

      @@willkeasling1526 Hey, KP! You and I are in agreement that anything Christ commands of us, we are to do. And anything Christ commands us not to do, we are to avoid. We are not perfect, of course, and thankfully we are covered by His grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit. But Jesus told us that our obedience is evidence of our love for Him (John 14:15). So what about all the things Christ did not mention? Can we play music during our weekly gatherings? If so, can we use instruments or just voices? Is it okay if we don't want to have any music at all? How often should we celebrate the Lord's Supper? Is wine required or is grape juice okay?
      What about celebrating feasts that were not given in Scripture? Are those okay? Since Jesus Himself celebrated a man-made feast that was not commanded in Scripture (John 10:22-23), it tells us a lot. We should never do anything CONTRARY to Scripture, of course. But there are plenty of things we can do "in addition" to Scripture that are acceptable! We have freedom in Christ (Gal 5), and God, in His sovereignty decided not to provide specific, detailed instructions about every aspect of our spiritual lives. In His Word, God gave us everything He knew we would need...but He didn't give us EVERYTHING. For those areas not mentioned, He has given us freedom. And there we are warned, "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Gal 5:13-14).
      As long as our observance of Easter is filled with the reading of Scripture, the celebrating and remembering of the Resurrection, the praise and worship of God, we are golden. One cannot accidentally or inadvertently worship Satan, or anything else. We can always tell who we are worshipping because it's who we are thinking about, focusing on, singing to, and praising. Satan gains no secret glory when we sing and shout "Christ has risen!" Quite the opposite.

I practiced easter and Christmas and traditional church for 40 years and last year was woke up by the Father cause I asked over and over cause I started to realize things wasnt adding up just like all the hate and judging by others when u walk into Sunday church which Sunday comes from the sun which is about sun worship or the sun god mithra/baal. The Sabbath never changed like most like to say and there's nothing in the word that says that. It's easy to see if a pastor is truly following Christ and has Christ in his heart when u ask them the hard questions and they either can't answer with the word or they ignore u and that shows there's more to the story just like watching people's body language when talking to them u can tell more by what they don't say. Just like the judging from others when at church shows the love of the father isn't there do that's another red flag just like all these people think they can do what they want and as long as they convince themselves in their mind they think that's meaning it in their hearts and they can sin away and they're forgiven when the word says that if u continue to sin after u accept Jesus/Yahshua into ur heart then there is no more sacrifice meaning that his sacrifice won't help u anymore cause u have proven u didn't actually accept him with our hearts and there's lots in the word to let us know what with our hearts looks like and there's lots of examples.ive been studying the traditional church side for 40 years and then digging into the truth for hours and hours a day for about a year and a half and it's not just what people say but there's feelings that come off of people when they say certain things and that has alot to do with the father and the power of discernment kinda like a six sense. Just like most traditional church's they preach alot of good and truth but where they r wrong and leading people to hell is by not telling the people the stuff that makes them uncomfortable and the stuff that really matters and the stuff that tells people they can't keep living like they do and expect to be forgiven and that's satanic in a way. Look up Richard Rives "too long in the sun" there's one that has other videos on the same video and it's five parts about 30-40 minutes per video. Satan doesn't own the earth or the days of the calendar, nor do pagans.“The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof" (Ps. 24:1, 1 Cor 10:26). "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Cor 10:31). "For by [Jesus] all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him, all things hold together" (Col 1:16-17). Therefore, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith" (Heb 12:2).

      Yes, this is pretty correct as far as I can tell and we should celebrate passover and the feasts rather than easter and the word breaks it down how to do all that which I did to best of my knowledge. This was my first year not joining the easter celebrations and stuff and it felt right for once rather than all the years past how things just didn't feel quite right. I don't celebrate Christmas either cause Christ want born in the middle of winter cause if we read the word and the story it doesn't add up to the traditional Christmas stuff like traveling on a donkey 100's of miles pregnant in the dead of winter for a census. There is lots of evidence that the satanists/pagans did actually have exact dates that match our pagan holidays but the word doesn't which just shows how much more deceptive and evil satan really is. I grew up thinking evil would be obvious and that it couldn't invade christianity but that's the main thing it corrupts which is why we need to care enough to want to make sure we know and don't do things that r corrupted and satanic cause like I mentioned, satan doesn't care if we know we following him or worshipping him as long as we do just like many won't go to hell willingly cause that would be crazy. We can be fooled and thinking we can't be fooled is exactly what he wants and shows his plan is working. Ever heard the saying that it easier to convince someone of a lie rather than that they've been lied to"???

      I spent my whole life thinking that pastors wouldn't lie to me and that I could just trust what they say and I could get by with reading a verse here and there and I'd be ok cause I thought I had faith like they preach and last year I got shook up and started reading alot for myself and started to realize alot of what I was raised to believe was wrong and that I really needed to do some self inventory and reading for myself and that's when I learned more in this last year and a half than I have in 40 years. It's sad and really makes me wonder do these pastors know what they're doing leading people away and to hell or are they just deceived as well and then I started paying close attention to how much they care to help me understand and by not responding and by them just flat out stopping talking to me shows alot and them actions speak louder than words ever could and shows that they know and they know I'm learning the truth and they can't lie to me anymore cause if they was true leaders and had christ in their hearts knowing how much I want to learn and grow how much I care they would atleast try to help so by them blowing me off kinda shows that they know what they're doing which is even more evil that has been revealed to me. Things get pretty scary once I realized how evil satan really is but it also showed me what I'm actually up against and I fear the Father way more and it also showed me his love for me and that he cares enough to show me this stuff to save me and to help me which has built my faith so much more cause I know in him there is hope and strength.

      Hi, Thorne. What, specifically, is Greek about the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus?

    • @Pverb623
      @Pverb623 Рік тому

      @@TheBiblicalRoots
      The story of a son who dies and comes back to be the intermediary between man and God……..when the intermediary started in heaven (Olympus) father God(Zeus) and a human mother…..comes back more divine and to save mankind……has been told before. In Greek mythology two characters….well one disguised not to appear as the other…..their story mirrors this “iffy” resurrection, that the Tanakh never describes!
      Daniel 12:2
      Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace.
      Isaiah 26:19
      Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For your dew is like the dew of the morning, and the earth will bring forth her dead.
      Ezekiel 37:1-4,12
      The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, …
      So why follow the story of Dionysus and Hercules, which are one!
      Shall we check the Greek mythology history to when they celebrated Dionysus’s resurrection……?
      Interesting that Dionysus’s favorite way of worship was when humans would drink blood and eat flesh in Dionysus’s name.
      (Cannibalistic rituals) seems familiar!?
      But other had this ideology as well….even the Incas believed that if you drank the blood and ate the liver of an adversary, believed they gain the powers of that who they are consuming.
      Don’t Christians dink the blood and eat the flesh because it gives the power of Jesit, to them to live forever?!?
      Like baptism…to receive a holy gift…….not in Tanakh once again.
      Yet why can I find these theologies and ideologies in Greek mythology and Egyptology….!?!?
      Now next phase: which resurrection story do you follow? Who was there, who wasn’t , who was the gardener, was there a guard, what about angel, why is Mary the only static variable, yet can’t seem to keep the same account?
      Why doesn’t it match Jonah In The whale? No matter what is counted, your missing a night….!
      So why do I think that the resurrection of Jesit is of Greek mythology…….because that is the place that has the commonality. There is no commonality in the Torah nor Tanakh that fits these stories of the NT.
      The origin of the NT is a farce…….fruit from a poisonous tree….is poison.
      Would you be willing to look at a scholarly about the origin of the NT?
      It is all scripture, no historical or rabbi, or personal commentary…..all the commentary is scripture itself.
      Kind of like a internal concordance!
      It’s called the Jeremiah 31 challenge!?
      60 pages, 6 chapters.
      And bonus points for finding which story with verses that I left out and why?
      I’ve actually never received a response to it, not even a none scriptural response…..learning/ed Jews appreciate it!
      What do you say? Well here it is anyways you decide to look at it or not, my email is at the top.
