  • Today we're going to be talking about the historic season that Joel Embiid is currently having in 2023-24. After winning the NBA MVP in 2023, Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers suffered a 2nd round loss to the Boston Celtics, leaving fans to believe that his success would never translate to playoff success. This season, Embiid has been having an even better season, averaging more points than minutes, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since Wilt Chamberlain in 1961-62. And after the Sixers agreed to trade James Harden to the LA Clippers, they have taken their team and offense to another level, behind Embiid, and they are looking like one of the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference in the 2024 playoffs. A lot of people aren't able to separate the concepts of "League High Scorer" and "Most Valuable Player". They believe the League High Scorer to BE the MVP, by virtue of being high scorer. I (and the NBA) see the awards as separate, and rewarding different goals. I don't see Embiid as MVP, no matter how many points he can score. There's an award for that.

Imagine being 6'11' 250#, that's huge, you're on Embiid in the paint, you've established position, and he crouches slightly to gather for a jump, incidentally hitting you with his butt, and you go stumbling backward and land in the baseline cameraman's lap while Embiid dunks it uncontested. Been watching him do this to "too small" big guys like Zach Collins. Joel just kinda shunts them off if they make contact. If they play off him at arm's length, he hits a jumper in their face. It's impressive.

The difference in minutes between Embiid and Wilt is important. Keeping the same scoring rate while playing 10 more minutes would be nearly impossible. Fatigue is a big factor when you're playing 48 minutes a game, and it means you don't get to sit.

Not necessarily if you consider style of play and the kinds of players that are actually guarding them. Joel typically (and purposefully) takes other bigs out to the perimeter or the mid range where he knows they don’t want to go out and guard guys one on one, on the other hand he takes players smaller than him down to the block and plays a slower more powerful type of offense. He takes advantage of the big guys being slower and reaching more further from the rim and the smaller guys typically have to foul to avoid giving him easy buckets around the rim

Why do some of these so called NBA youtuber and reddit analysts downgrade player's heights? So if you say Embiid is 6'11 then you must say that Shaq who is 1 inch shorter is just 6'10? HAHAH. And that Jokic (who is about 2 inches shorter) is actually just 6'9 and that Durant and Giannis (both are 1 inch shorter than Jokic) are just both 6'8!!! HAHAH! And then you'd have to also say that Lebron (being at least 2 inches shorter than KD) is just 6'6 ?!?!?! That would make MJ and Kobe (who are 3 inches shorter than Lebron) at a measly 6'3? HAHAH. What does that make Steph Curry then, who is 4 inches shorter than MJ and Kobe? Steph Curry is just 5'11? Hahah. And then you'd have to say that Allen Iverson (who is 2 inches shorter than Steph Curry) is just a lowly 5'9? HAHAHAHA. You so called experts are nothing but insecure wanting to believe your height is closer to them as you want to believe.

No, The Sixers were one of the FEW honest Teams a few years ago when the NBA wanted the Real Shoeless Heights of Players and Embiid is like 6'11" and 3/4 without shoes. For example the Sun's were lying B* because they still claimed Rishaun Holmes was 6'10" despite being way shorter than Embiid and not even as tall as Ben Simmons who is a legit 6'10" iirc But don't hold me to that as Embiid's height is the only I remember with 100% certainty.
