    Moses Malone famously sacrificed on his field goal percentage by using the offensive glass. Offensive rebounds were basically passes to himself that gave him better position for the finish. Seriously! It is a joke how the game is called these days with defense. Back then if an offensive player initiated contact into a defender it was an automatic foul. Joel would be fouling out in most of his games with the way he plays.
      I think it was 2yrs ago when I saw Joel get a call against the Nets when he flailed backwards just past the free-throw line into a defender, and launching the ball into the stands, and called a shooting foul. It was a joke. Think he had like 10-15 free throws that first quarter. The 76'ers ended up losing.

  • @froggy2991
    @froggy2991 Рік тому +5

    2:17 - 2:45 is just a bad missed travel call. Embiid gets away with an illegal advantage there - if you play basketball and try this move yourself you'll see it's easier done if you plant your left first like Embiid and take that extra step, than the legal way of first landing with two feet. It's because you get to use the momentum from launching off your left foot to get better separation from your defender, and you'd have less momentum to work with if you initially landed legally with two feet back to the basket.
    Good vid but I had to mention this.

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  Рік тому +6

      I mean, I pointed out that it’s a travel…. If the refs were some sort of AI robot that could interpret 1/30th of a second. But when a jump stop is that close in real time, they’re within their right of interpretation to deem both feet landed at same time which makes it legal

    • @Walrus286
      @Walrus286 Рік тому +2

      It happens so fast that you can’t make that call. If you play basketball and YOU try this move, it’s done at a quarter of the speed and you’d clang the ball off the front of the rim or have the shot blocked.

      that travel will never, ever, ever get called man stop lol. Given the travels that are let go in the league nobody is calling a travel on a jump stop because they didnt use the foot that came down a split second before the other as their pivot. Both dominated and didn't play a ton of minutes, and ultimately both possess generational talent being unleashed by good coaching to the point that the things they both excel at have become so efficient they're effectively "unstoppable".

    When you outweigh your defender by 50lbs and just push your way to the bucket, it’s easy. But the refs have to cooperate and not call charging (which they don’t anymore. I can’t remember the last charging call in the last ten years)

    Embiid is good we all know this. But I can't take him as seriously as the absolute uppest of echelons ie Jokic Giannis Lebron Curry with his playoffs history
    Let's see if Nick Nurse can change that

      Yes! Embiid Averages 21.7 Shots A Game & Is Making 11.6 Of Them @ A 53.4%.
      Out Of This, He Makes 10.4 Out Of 18.4 Of His 2PT Attempts (56.5%) & 1.1 Out Of 3.3 Of His 3PT Attempts (33.8%).
      So, His PPG Would Be @ 24.3, Which Would Put Him STILL Top 8. If You Let Everyone Else Keep Their FTM Per Game 😂😂😂, Embiid Is STILL A Top Scorer In The Association 🤔!

    Kevin Durant averaging 27.3ppg for 15yrs with 4x scoring titles (compared to Embiid's 27.6ppg average in his 7yrs): 😐

      PPG undersells the gap though in terms of their per game production. KD averaged 36.7 mpg throughout his career, embiid 31.9. It also doesnt control for pace, not sure which player's teams has played at a higher pace throughout their career but if you play at a higher pace you'll have more chances to score. Per 100 possessions for embiid's career he is averaging 42.1 points, that average is higher than KD's single season high (41.8 in 2013). For kd's career he is averaging 37.2 points per 100 possessions. Side note but durant's 2nd best year in points per 100 is 41.6 which is actually this year! Which is kind of wild given he is 35 lol. I feel like kd's season is being a bit underdiscussed, his numbers (31/6/6 on 63 ts%) is obviously great in any context but doing it as a 35 year old who had an achilles tear in his early 30s is pretty mind blowing
