To escape the fear and hatred which other beings feel towards the satori species, she attempted to destroy her mind-reading ability by closing her Third Eye. this had the side effect of sealing away her own conscious mind causing her to lose all thoughts and motives she could no longer be hated, but neither could she be loved or even remembered by people who saw her.

The "pentagram" that Sanae summoned was actually a gobousei, not a symbol with any satanic or diabolic connotations, but rather a symbol related to East Asian mysticism which represents the balance between the five elements (Water, Fire, Metal, Wood, Earth) and how they both create and destroy each other. (Water puts out Fire, Fire melts Metal, Metal cuts down Wood, Wood covers the Earth, Earth displaces Water; Water feeds Wood, Wood fuels Fire, Fire fertilizes Earth, Earth produces Metal, Metal carries Water).
And Sanae is served under god of wind (the snake) and god of rain (the frog). Who worshipped by the farmers, and give their blessing on the rice fields. In short, Sanae doesn't worship any demon or devil.

They were designed to give even weak youkai and humans a chance to win, as well as to provide youkai a way to defeat the Hakurei Shrine in a fair duel and vise versa. In the PC-98 era (canon or not canon, I’m not sure) there wasn’t a spell card rule and that there were battle where Youkai killing Human and Shrine Maiden killing Youkai resulting in bloodshed and imbalance. If anything, you should watch the “Osana Reimu” and “Reireimu” Series
I dont know if you're gonna read this, but i'll attempt to explain as much as possible, so bear with me. The balls here represent the shot type that Reimu can choose in the game this is from. You already know Reimu and Marisa, but here are the other Characters in order of appearance (ignoring the prologue): Suika Ibuki: An Oni. She is constantly drinking as per Oni tradition and has the power to manipulate density.This means she is always upto fun things. Though be careful, Onis are known for their superhuman strengths and despite her looks, she packs quite the punch. Her shot type are high powered bullets with bit of homing. Aya Shameimaru: A Tengu. One of the most prominent reporters of the Bunbunmaru Newspaper, she is constantly looking for all kinds of juicy scoops and scandals, even if that means getting into the thick of danger. One of the fastest characters in Touhou. Her shot type are bullets that fire in the opposite direction of your movement. Yukari Yakumo: One of the 3 sages of gensokyo and the most overpowered Youkai in Touhou. With the power to manipulate literally any boundaries (even if it's a metaphorical one), and a bad habit of constantly looking for interesting things to do, you wouldn't be surprised to find out that the master of schemes happens to be her (though she may just be fooling around). Her shot type are needles that shoot straight forward. Sanae Kochiya: The shrine maiden of the Moriya shrine and a god by virtue of being the direct descendant of one of the gods of the Moriya shrine. Although she tries to be nice and gentle, the constant schemes of the two gods she serves under, cause quite the trouble for her. The Subterranean Stars video was caused by them after all. Reimu investigating the incident is what starts their fight. Frogs are kind of a symbol of her and her grandma (yes, the loli). Unfortunately the Third eye is connected to a satori's consciousness and this pretty much shuts down her consciousness as well. In Gensokyo, the side effect of that is that she is pretty much unrecognizable as any and all people that meet her end up loosing any form of memory of her the very moment they lose sight of her. That combined with the fact that she runs on only her subconscious means that she is quite close to being insane as she cannot think rationally. Reimu meets her when she investigates the Moriya shrine due to Koishi wanting her own pets (much like Okuu, the bird girl from the end of Subterranean Stars) empowered by the gods there. She challenges Reimu in order to see how powerful the girl who defeated her elder sister is.

PS (Fun Fact!): The name “Koishi” also means “Pebble” referring how she is as noticeable as a pebble. It is real and it is there, but you just don’t come to the sense to notice it... Which is why I tend to call her “Little Pebble”
