Yeah, I think it's worth noting that it isn't until 8:50 that Reimu finally eases up and is like, "You know what? Fine. This is _exactly_ what the Spell Card System was invented for: so humans and youkai could play together without hurting each other." Up until that point she had been her usual no-nonsense, exterminate-everything-on-sight self. And Koishi still did pretty well against her. Of course, we're talking about Koishi... I really love how the fight went from Reimu being super serious to near the end just somewhat playing around with Koishi. The whole fight was spectacular and I truly didnt expect this much damn cute and adorableness from Koishi!
Considering Koishi was using Danmaku just to have fun with Reimu rather than to fight for a cause or cause an incident, it's not too far off to say that something like this is both what Reimu wanted with youkai when she created the Spell Card system, but also probably the most fun she's had with a stranger in gods-know-how-long. Several times she seems genuinely impressed with Koishi's ingenuity and beautiful Spell Cards.
Koishi is supposed to be like this. The whole story of ex in sa was koishi went to the shrine to ask for a new pet for satori, then she met Marisa and reinlmu and wanted to play if I recall been a long time since I've played sa
Love the fact that Reimu started off by attacking Koishi by retaliating koishi's attack. Then feels guilty shrugging off Koishi. And finally understood that Koishi is really innocent at heart and just wants to play. Reimu accepts playing with Koishi.
I don't think Koishi is innocent at all, if she trully has no super ego and she's just id as her spellcards suggest, she should be the most egocentrical, impulsive person on earth with absolutelly no moral compass.
Koishi is eternally a child... until she got the mask. At that point, she has permanence. She can be remembered, so her actions have consequences, and that means she has to take at least a little care. Too bad the mask won't last forever, because she would benefit from the growth.

Sanae absolutely went off in her fight. The human-god girl tried her best. Onto the meat of this animation....I don't have many words except this is epic and aesthetic af. Koishi's mannerisms are as endearing as I had hoped. Youkai Polygraph, Philosophy of a Hated Person, and Subterranean Rose were somehow far, far more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. (Those three in particular got me, but all the spells were amazing.) Koishi's ascent for the final phase of Subterranean Rose was a next level aesthetic as well. Really the cherry on top of this incredible animation. Next up, Reimu vs Marisa!!!!!! Lots of hype for that as well.

The way he portrayed Koishi's ability to erase her presence is very impressive. It didn't feel like I was watching teleportation or even really invisibility. He really captured the spirit of her ability.

Another masterpiece from minusT. Koishi's characterization in this video is masterful. All the small details, Koishi's emotions switching form happy to sad and back, Koishi's heart occasionally pulsing, Reimu's attitude towards Koishi evolving from dismissive to annoyed to actually friendly over the battle, music timing perfectly with Koishi's spells, especially with "Philosophy of a Hated person", Koishi rising above the clouds during "Subterranean Rose", that faint smile Reimu has at the end of "Subterranean Rose", and that little bit of movement in Koishi's eye at 12:13, and there is a lot more that others have mentioned and that i probably haven't noticed yet.
I've re-watched so many times, and this is the first time I noticed that at 9:57 Koishi has this 3 frame expression of being surprised by the bullets. Details like this are exactly the reason I revisit minusT's videos every once in a while.
The animation as a whole was gorgeous, this interpretation of Koishi is unbearably adorable, her fluffy, wavy hair is more than I can even handle right now, and every single frame from 11:17 to 11:21 was absolutely breath-taking; Koishi finally allowing herself to bloom out in the open almost brought a tear to my eye. I've stumbled on something wonderful and I cannot believe my luck. I'm rooting for you forever, this kind of quality is indescribable.

Geez MinusT, what a banger of a vid right here. The characters really shone right here, the animation beautiful and just all the little touches... From Suika's very blunt lil' power-up to Reimu's yang-yang orb, Yukari staying on-topic, Aya just keeping in eye-shot with that camera, and, most of all; the sheer JOY on Koishi. She's having SO much fun playing danmaku with Reimu. And that music was on topic. You really work magic with Blender MinusT. One of the masters of animation here on YT.
Animation is solid though I think the models could use a slight update on shader and textures to make them look distinctively Touhou. And that more strong emotions and hard hitting sad moments could be shown with a more “face breaker” styled rig. In which the face’s rig is capable of more distortion to show emotion without wrecking the face’s mesh
They're kinda in the same vein as the games. There was a threat, but in the end it seems like no one was really in danger at all. Such a good natured, wholesome series this is TToTT

I love this so much. Unlike subterranean stars, it gives a more Danmaku feel to the whole fight with its emphasis on adorableness and playfulness and beauty. But what I also really like about subterranean stars was how technological it was. It gave new interpretations and life to Marisa with her broom and all of the dolls and grim pores, while this feels more traditionally Touhou.
Subterranean Stars was more Marisa diving into a hole in the ground, beating up the nuclear-god powered crow inside, then flying away like "peace out, bitches!"
They are sure kinda differents in approach, personnaly I like both for differents reasons. I really liked the 'melee attack demonstration' segment and the hell and heaven meltdown in subterraneam stars, and I like so much all the very short segments that show koishi (ho so cute at ua-cam.com/video/KjJMWj6BYhY/v-deo.html&t=481 ) or 'aya is taking a shoot from away' in this one.
One of my favorite things of this video is how minusT shows Reimu's motion. With her stance and momentum she always seems to be headed straight even when she obviously is dodging around Sanae and Koishi's shots. It's a very nice nod to how she's described in things like Grimoire of Marisa and ZUN interviews, and gives her fighting style much needed character. Bravo!

I really love Koishi’s spellcard names, especially “Philosophy of a Hated Person” (10:10) and “Subterranean Rose” (11:00). “Philosophy of a Hated Person”, the embodiment of Koishi’s traumatic past. Koishi was (and still is) the kindest person to live, yet she had a weak heart. Her powers of reading people’s minds caused them to shun and hate her, hunting her down like the roses in this spell card. The pain and suffering of being hated was too much to bear for her and caused her to seal away her powers causing her to lose her own consciousness and making her fade from other’s consciousness. Literally becoming a ghost of her former self. “Subterranean Rose”, the beautiful flower that blooms in absolute darkness, never to be seen and appreciated, just like Koishi. In the off chance you do see her, she’ll play with you, make you smile, and make your whole day better, but as soon as you take your eyes of her she disappears into your subconsciousness and all your memories of her are gone, the only thing left is you wondering why you were so happy just a few minutes before, not knowing why. Loving the symbolism of MinusT’s portrayal of Subterranean Rose’s final stages. Koishi ascends above the clouds, no longer a rose that blooms deep underground, but high in the skies, where everyone can see and appreciate her. Koishi is such a sad and tragic, yet poetically beautiful character, and MinusT’s depiction of her is just perfect. Thank you for making this masterpiece.
I didn't even know Koishi's backstory in that level of detail, but in the video when she rose above the clouds I recognized it as a cue - this is one of the happiest moments of her life. She doesn't feel hidden the way she did when she kept fading in and out during Subterranean Stars and during the beginning of this video. This video is awesome in characterizing her.

Jm 115 Satori didn’t close Koishi’s third eye. Koishi did it herself to try to keep from becoming disliked like Satori with her ability to read minds and hearts.

this truly is the best video ever, since i first watched it i bookmarked it and i come back to this every once in a while to just feel that emotion it brings me koishi's interpretation is amazing, the cheerful happy and curious girl who has a knack for playing with anyone she finds, and after encountering reimu, being able to release her most playful, storytelling and beautiful danmaku. The small details like koishi being upset to start super ego, her happiness that reimu can see her, the way she goes from being curious to truly enjoying herself is truly majestic. The final scene always brings me to tears, the mix of the music, the beautiful background and koishi's happiness and amazing animation always hits me emotionally. Truly the best video i have ever watched

You expect them to just make each model by scratch? copy and pasting is easier to do, not to mention animation is quite hard and takes time to make and to make it good, i just know you never tried animating :/
i also tend to rewatch it because of how good it is, it reminds me a bit of project diva with the style of the characters, and the animation is just beautiful, they inspired me to do animations, im still learning to animate but im kinda getting the hang of it, not the best but not the worst

You captured Koishi's many different actions and reactions during her fight with Reimu so perfectly well to what her character would be like and to list some of my favorites, 7:03 Koishi's "SUPRISE MOTHERF*CKA" and right afterwards gets so depressed into her next spellcard Suppression "Super-ego" 7:58 Koishi's sheer excitement in the danmaku fight, que in that perfect music climax along with he child-like stampering, hand gesturing, and dialogue, then BOOM Response "Youkai Polygraph". I absolutely loved how you presented "Youkai Polygraph", as it is one of my favorite spellcard for Koishi, with all those wonderful particles and smoke effects to change the background scene, and my gosh HER POSE DURING THE WHOLE THING! 10:05-10:37 "Philosophy of a Hated Person" such a wonderful way to transition to a somber transition pace and nod to her back story 10:38-11:00 When Koishi finds Reimu surviving that traumatic spellcard, she's filled with joy to continue one last spellcard, with Reimu's encouragement 11:18 Subterranean Rose's final phases with that epic rise, SO GORGEOUS! There's so much I could nit pick, but overall I absolutely love how you took the time to add in life to each of the character's and the fighting, ooooooh so good, as well as using new particles and effects for danmaku. Koishi's whimsical character and movements were so spot on. I had trouble sometimes picturing her Subconscious Manipulation (appearance and disappearance) but you made it easy to understand in this beautiful animation. While Koishi does control whether people can see her or not, she really wanted Reimu to acknowledge and play with her. You know I just realized how overpowered Koishi is. She can literally send people to a whole different reality controlled by the subconsciousness of her mind with just a sneeze........A SNEEZE PEOPEL
That aside, the fighting games (HM, ULiL and AoCF) all imply, and sometimes state outright, such as in the case of Kasen in ULiL, that Koishi is a monster to fight. Basically, since she is a youkai, an entity of mental and emotional energies, her act of cutting herself off from her own thoughts and feelings has rendered her incapable of feeling exhaustion. Ergo, going up against Koishi is like going up against one of the Androids in Dragon Ball... an Android that can manipulate your subconscious mind and banish you to a whole different reality controlled by her own subconsciousness with nothing more than a sneeze.
@@SoloKitten13 Late reply is late, but pay attention to the number of orbs she has floating around her, she starts with four (or eight when Suika's upgrade is active) and ends everything with two (or four), she got hit a few times, and there's a point in the duel she flips away from one of Koshi's spellcards and looks at her sleeve.
Touhou is such a fantastic game and to put in a 3D element perspective like this with the spell cards is just outstandingly lovely to watch. I love the animations you put into them so much that and the moments in here are so beautiful to see. I hope you keep these videos up for the newcomers in the Touhou Project to see so that they'll start to love it more and more that they found Touhou, I'm rootin' for ya!

I really love how the fight went from Reimu being super serious to near the end just somewhat playing around with Koishi. The whole fight was spectacular and I truly didnt expect this much damn cute and adorableness from Koishi!
Considering danmaku isn't lethal from trained fairies (Cirno) and upwards.....I can understand that.
Considering Koishi was using Danmaku just to have fun with Reimu rather than to fight for a cause or cause an incident, it's not too far off to say that something like this is both what Reimu wanted with youkai when she created the Spell Card system, but also probably the most fun she's had with a stranger in gods-know-how-long. Several times she seems genuinely impressed with Koishi's ingenuity and beautiful Spell Cards.

Onto the meat of this animation....I don't have many words except this is epic and aesthetic af. Koishi's mannerisms are as endearing as I had hoped.
Youkai Polygraph, Philosophy of a Hated Person, and Subterranean Rose were somehow far, far more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. (Those three in particular got me, but all the spells were amazing.)
Koishi's ascent for the final phase of Subterranean Rose was a next level aesthetic as well. Really the cherry on top of this incredible animation.

The progress in the quality of characters and lighting compared to previous movies is amazing!
The way he portrayed Koishi's ability to erase her presence is very impressive. It didn't feel like I was watching teleportation or even really invisibility. He really captured the spirit of her ability.

Another masterpiece from minusT. Koishi's characterization in this video is masterful.
All the small details, Koishi's emotions switching form happy to sad and back, Koishi's heart occasionally pulsing, Reimu's attitude towards Koishi evolving from dismissive to annoyed to actually friendly over the battle, music timing perfectly with Koishi's spells, especially with "Philosophy of a Hated person", Koishi rising above the clouds during "Subterranean Rose", that faint smile Reimu has at the end of "Subterranean Rose", and that little bit of movement in Koishi's eye at 12:13, and there is a lot more that others have mentioned and that i probably haven't noticed yet.
I was so happy when her third eye twitched. So faithful to canon. This whole video is overflowing with love for the official material.

I've re-watched so many times, and this is the first time I noticed that at 9:57 Koishi has this 3 frame expression of being surprised by the bullets. Details like this are exactly the reason I revisit minusT's videos every once in a while.
The animation as a whole was gorgeous, this interpretation of Koishi is unbearably adorable, her fluffy, wavy hair is more than I can even handle right now, and every single frame from 11:17 to 11:21 was absolutely breath-taking; Koishi finally allowing herself to bloom out in the open almost brought a tear to my eye.
I've stumbled on something wonderful and I cannot believe my luck. I'm rooting for you forever, this kind of quality is indescribable.

Animation is solid though I think the models could use a slight update on shader and textures to make them look distinctively Touhou. And that more strong emotions and hard hitting sad moments could be shown with a more “face breaker” styled rig. In which the face’s rig is capable of more distortion to show emotion without wrecking the face’s mesh

I love this so much. Unlike subterranean stars, it gives a more Danmaku feel to the whole fight with its emphasis on adorableness and playfulness and beauty. But what I also really like about subterranean stars was how technological it was. It gave new interpretations and life to Marisa with her broom and all of the dolls and grim pores, while this feels more traditionally Touhou.
Subterranean Stars was more Marisa diving into a hole in the ground, beating up the nuclear-god powered crow inside, then flying away like "peace out, bitches!"
They are sure kinda differents in approach, personnaly I like both for differents reasons. I really liked the 'melee attack demonstration' segment and the hell and heaven meltdown in subterraneam stars, and I like so much all the very short segments that show koishi (ho so cute at ua-cam.com/video/KjJMWj6BYhY/v-deo.html&t=481 ) or 'aya is taking a shoot from away' in this one.

One of my favorite things of this video is how minusT shows Reimu's motion. With her stance and momentum she always seems to be headed straight even when she obviously is dodging around Sanae and Koishi's shots. It's a very nice nod to how she's described in things like Grimoire of Marisa and ZUN interviews, and gives her fighting style much needed character. Bravo!

I really love Koishi’s spellcard names, especially “Philosophy of a Hated Person” (10:10) and “Subterranean Rose” (11:00).
“Philosophy of a Hated Person”, the embodiment of Koishi’s traumatic past. Koishi was (and still is) the kindest person to live, yet she had a weak heart. Her powers of reading people’s minds caused them to shun and hate her, hunting her down like the roses in this spell card. The pain and suffering of being hated was too much to bear for her and caused her to seal away her powers causing her to lose her own consciousness and making her fade from other’s consciousness. Literally becoming a ghost of her former self.
“Subterranean Rose”, the beautiful flower that blooms in absolute darkness, never to be seen and appreciated, just like Koishi. In the off chance you do see her, she’ll play with you, make you smile, and make your whole day better, but as soon as you take your eyes of her she disappears into your subconsciousness and all your memories of her are gone, the only thing left is you wondering why you were so happy just a few minutes before, not knowing why.
Loving the symbolism of MinusT’s portrayal of Subterranean Rose’s final stages. Koishi ascends above the clouds, no longer a rose that blooms deep underground, but high in the skies, where everyone can see and appreciate her.
Koishi is such a sad and tragic, yet poetically beautiful character, and MinusT’s depiction of her is just perfect. Thank you for making this masterpiece.

I didn't even know Koishi's backstory in that level of detail, but in the video when she rose above the clouds I recognized it as a cue - this is one of the happiest moments of her life. She doesn't feel hidden the way she did when she kept fading in and out during Subterranean Stars and during the beginning of this video. This video is awesome in characterizing her.

The best part about that attack is that, if you try to attack again she will actually take care of her nose instead, and do... nothing else XD

Jm 115 Satori didn’t close Koishi’s third eye. Koishi did it herself to try to keep from becoming disliked like Satori with her ability to read minds and hearts.

this truly is the best video ever, since i first watched it i bookmarked it and i come back to this every once in a while to just feel that emotion it brings me
koishi's interpretation is amazing, the cheerful happy and curious girl who has a knack for playing with anyone she finds, and after encountering reimu, being able to release her most playful, storytelling and beautiful danmaku. The small details like koishi being upset to start super ego, her happiness that reimu can see her, the way she goes from being curious to truly enjoying herself is truly majestic. The final scene always brings me to tears, the mix of the music, the beautiful background and koishi's happiness and amazing animation always hits me emotionally.

You expect them to just make each model by scratch? copy and pasting is easier to do, not to mention animation is quite hard and takes time to make and to make it good, i just know you never tried animating :/
i also tend to rewatch it because of how good it is, it reminds me a bit of project diva with the style of the characters, and the animation is just beautiful, they inspired me to do animations, im still learning to animate but im kinda getting the hang of it, not the best but not the worst

7:58 Koishi's sheer excitement in the danmaku fight, que in that perfect music climax along with he child-like stampering, hand gesturing, and dialogue, then BOOM Response "Youkai Polygraph". I absolutely loved how you presented "Youkai Polygraph", as it is one of my favorite spellcard for Koishi, with all those wonderful particles and smoke effects to change the background scene, and my gosh HER POSE DURING THE WHOLE THING!
10:05-10:37 "Philosophy of a Hated Person" such a wonderful way to transition to a somber transition pace and nod to her back story
10:38-11:00 When Koishi finds Reimu surviving that traumatic spellcard, she's filled with joy to continue one last spellcard, with Reimu's encouragement

There's so much I could nit pick, but overall I absolutely love how you took the time to add in life to each of the character's and the fighting, ooooooh so good, as well as using new particles and effects for danmaku.

Edit: Just watched it. I love battles that look like they're having fun, like Marisa and Flandre! Koishi's whimsical character and movements were so spot on. I had trouble sometimes picturing her Subconscious Manipulation (appearance and disappearance) but you made it easy to understand in this beautiful animation. While Koishi does control whether people can see her or not, she really wanted Reimu to acknowledge and play with her. Koishi needs more love and this animation made me love her even more. ; W ; Soo worth the wait.

You know I just realized how overpowered Koishi is. She can literally send people to a whole different reality controlled by the subconsciousness of her mind with just a sneeze........A SNEEZE PEOPEL
That aside, the fighting games (HM, ULiL and AoCF) all imply, and sometimes state outright, such as in the case of Kasen in ULiL, that Koishi is a monster to fight. Basically, since she is a youkai, an entity of mental and emotional energies, her act of cutting herself off from her own thoughts and feelings has rendered her incapable of feeling exhaustion. Ergo, going up against Koishi is like going up against one of the Androids in Dragon Ball... an Android that can manipulate your subconscious mind and banish you to a whole different reality controlled by her own subconsciousness with nothing more than a sneeze.
Though it's interesting how Reimu took no real damage in the entire fight.
@@SoloKitten13 Late reply is late, but pay attention to the number of orbs she has floating around her, she starts with four (or eight when Suika's upgrade is active) and ends everything with two (or four), she got hit a few times, and there's a point in the duel she flips away from one of Koshi's spellcards and looks at her sleeve.

Touhou is such a fantastic game and to put in a 3D element perspective like this with the spell cards is just outstandingly lovely to watch. I love the animations you put into them so much that and the moments in here are so beautiful to see. I hope you keep these videos up for the newcomers in the Touhou Project to see so that they'll start to love it more and more that they found Touhou, I'm rootin' for ya!
