Speaking of "related", Koishi (hat girl) is more related to one of the characters Marisa faced that appeared in Subterranean Stars. That character is Satori Komeiji, they are both the youkai "Satori" and they're both sisters. The "eye" looking thingy on them is their third eye, Koishi closed hers to avoid the hate and dislike which Satori experienced due to the mindreading abilities.
Ayo since you were wondering about reimus ying yang orbs. Like Marisa had help fighting the last boss, reimu had help here too. The bird girl (aya 8:12 )gave reimu a power up and changed her blue orb to red. Aya is the fastest character so you see reimu put the power to her feet ( 8:34 )and she starts schmoovin lmao.
Koishi komeiji is a satori youkai. Unlike other satori who read hearts and minds, she closed her third eye which prevents mind reading. Instead she messes with subconscious. You will never know she's there even if in front of your face and even if you do see her, you won't remember her. Favorite touhou is aya, she was the one with black hair watching reimu and koishi. Also reimu and koishi are 2 of the most popular touhou characters. They are always in top 5. Reimu use to always win the votes but koishi and youmu have stolen it before.
This does pick up where the last one left off, and mostly takes place on the path to Moriya Shrine with all the huge pillars being more like the actual ingame screen than a practical setting imo. The events of Subterranean Stars (based on the game Subterranean Animism) were caused by wind god Kanako Yasaka of Moriya Shrine, who gave Utsuho Reiuji (The winged girl who was throwing miniature suns at Marisa) the power of the sun god Yatagarasu, which is why Reimu heads there pissed off at them. She faced the "green haired girl" Sanae Kochiya who's the Moriya shrine maiden, a human from the modern world outside Gensokyo who has just arrived along with the shrine and it's two gods, while on the way to Kanako. Being new to Gensokyo, Sanae is trying to fit in by thinking she can't be "bound by common sense" here in Gensokyo, and thinks that traditional Gensokyo greeting=attack with spellcards lmao... Sanae didn't even know about the incident with Utsuho, which was all Utsuho being an idiot after getting power from Kanako, and it turns out they were only trying to start an industrial revolution using outside world knowledge of nuclear power. After beating her Reimu runs into Koishi Komeji while on the way to complain to Kanako, who was around the whole time in the events of Subterranean Animism but unseen due to her ability. You can even catch very brief glimpses of her in Subterranean Stars. I see a lot of people already explaining her, so in short she was impressed by the power Kanako gave Utsuho, who is her sister Satori Komeji's pet Hell raven, and went to the shrine to pray for more divine blessings and ran into Reimu, deciding to challenge her for fun. As for why the girl with the camera has Reimu's Yin Yang orb, just like how Marisa had three people helping her in Subterranean Stars Reimu is being helped by her, a tengu named Aya Shameimaru, as well as the oni Suika Ibuki and Yukari. It's all in reference to the different partners you could choose in the game who each gave different abilities. As one of the hardest games in the series, I know almost nothing about that aspect of the gameplay as I suck at the actual games... T_T

Speaking of, have you checked out an of the maim series music? If not, I suggest a song called "Bloom Nobely, Ink Black Cherry Blossom". It's the theme of that Yuyuko girl (the girl who Reimu fought by the tree in another episode). It's REALLY good.
The point at around 8:45 in your reaction where Koishi gets so incredibly excited was because Reimu was starting to be able to see her. Koishi's ability was the ability to manipulate the subconscious mine and thus sit within someone's subconsciousness. That's why she keeps phasing in and out like a ghost. When she's in someone's subconsciousness, they can't consciously detect them. However Reimu is a character that relies heavily on her innate talent and intuition and was beginning to sense Koishi despite being within the subconsciousness. Because her intuition is that blending of trusting her subconsciousness and being conscious of that. (Sorry for using the words "conscious" and "subconscious" so much, but that's kind of how it all works).
My fav would have to be that lil horned girl in the house with Yukari helping Reimu. She's Suika Ibuki. She's a lil oni brawler from the touhou fighting games. Also I've noticed a few nice cuts and editing in these vids I see what you mean thats nice. I laughed at the Switch cut.
