    Archie was a savage legend!! He is one of the greatest TV characters and shows in history!! I'm so glad I grew up in the Era I did, where people weren't butt hurt over every single thing.
    There were many spin-offs from this show, but I think the answer you're looking for is "Archie Bunkers Place" 😂

    I was a kid in the 70’s and watched this show back then. I loved it then and I still love it today. One of my top 5 tv shows of all time 😅

    I worked in the Hollywood for 37 years and I met Archie Bunker / Carroll O'Connor once, he was being awarded his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

    This show caused a furor when it debuted, but it single-handedly made a difference in American culture. My grandpa WAS Archie Bunker; he's is not much of an over-dramatized character for the time.

    Born in 1969, I grew up watching the original episodes as they came out. It was on point social commentary, and very ahead of its time actually.

    This broke out on network tv in '71 when I was in Jr. High, and we were unabashedly asking our teachers what THEY thought about it, more so than our parents, particularly the racial topics. THE JEFFERSONS, MAUDE, and ARCHIE BUNKER'S PLACE all spun off from this. The reality of the matter is, Criminals do NOT obey gun laws. Why criminalize legal citizens who only want to defend themselves, when a 'well regulated militia' FIRST requires free ownership of firearms.

      Only if you were part of the state militia. That was the clear language and intent of the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment does NOT give ANYONE the RIGHT TO HAVE ANY WEAPON THEY WANT. THAT'S INSANE.
      THE RADICAL RIGHT GUN NUT LOBBY AND THE NRA HAVE COMPLETELY BASTARDIZED THE 2ND AMENDMENT.
      NOW WE HAVE SCHOOLCHILDREN BEING TORN TO SHREDS BY MILITARY ASSAULT RIFLES. PURE INSANITY.

    I was in high school and college during this period. All in the Family was a ground breaking comedy series. The actor who portrayed Archie was the complete opposite of the character Archie.

    11:24 there is no give and take a little bit. Because it never stops. That is why it is fought over so hard. If it was a give and take and that was the end, then I have no doubt this would not be an issue. But the thing is, when you give, it is never enough. You have to give more, and more and more. I remember back before Gay marriage was legal in America and even before that, they narrowed it down to this one argument and said this is ALL that it is that we are asking. Well, today it is Drag Queens with story book time with children, vivid and explicit pictures and description of porn acts in grade schools, men beating women in women sports, men getting Woman of the Year awards, people wanting to force others to use they/them etc when addressing him or her, it JUST DOES NOT END. There is no LITTLE BIT of give and take. It doesn't work like that.

    Watching this as an adult, you can absolutely tell that Norman Lear was a staunch Liberal and didn't want to promote any Conservative values at all. No knowledgeable Conservative would argue the 2nd amendment the way Archie does. He argues the way a Liberal portraying an exaggerated stereotype of a Conservative would argue.

    This was the funniest, greatest show. The Jefferson's was a great spin off of this show. George Jefferson and Archie were the funniest with their arguments. I am a 71 year old woman that believes in the right to bare arms and have several guns. I love to shoot at targets and have for protection in my home. I could go on and on but I won't except to say that the real issue today is mental issues. You guys are great and love to watch your reactions!!

    What surprises me most about the show is how the attitudes of my generation (Boomer) toward Archie Bunker have changed over the years. I was 17 when the show first aired and it was a show that poked fun of the conservative views of our parents generation. But lately I’ve noticed many of my generation sound more like Archie than they do Mike.
    It is difficult today to understand how ground breaking and popular “All in the Family” was at the time. Archie’s chair is in the Smithsonian.. Sammy Davis Jr. a legionary black actor, singer, dancer insisted on appearing on the show and when he did he went off script and kissed Archie and Carroll O'Connor stayed in character and just stood there stunned.
    The shows always dealt with current topics most time controversial subjects: Vietnam War, IRA, rape, homosexuality, race relations, interracial marriage, Watergate.. It help us look at the casos of the times and come to terms with it.

      Some of the best parts of the show were just about really trivial stuff. I love the one where Mike is putting on his shoes and socks and Archie takes issue with the way he's doing it. "The whole world puts on a sock and a sock and then a shoe and a shoe (or something close to that)". They then proceed to argue the pros and cons of a sock and shoe vs a sock and a sock. It's hilarious.

    All in the family was the beginning of the "Men/Dads are dumb" programming. I watched it when it came out. I was "meathead" age and my dad was a much smarter more articulate Archie. My pick for humor of day tackling the issues of the day was the police sit-com "Barney Miller.

    I watched every episode of All In The Family from week to week when it aired, at least the first few years. Keep in mind it straddled the entire 70s. It could never aire today. Not a chance with cancel culture and "I'm offended"! The show hit every stereotype and every push button topic. The writing was next level, and so wittily sarcastic. The first couple of seasons were in your face, "Is this really what you believe?
    " With All in the Family, the discord on the nation’s streets had finally leaped from the nightly news to the nightly entertainment. People couldn’t help but cringe and take notice. And notice they did.
    "While foulmouthed, Archie was weekly put in his place and shown to be wrong. Even so, he gave voice to the thoughts of many Americans. And audiences warmed to the hotheaded character. O’Connor noted that “there were many, many people out there who thought Archie was 100 percent right about everything,” and surprisingly the show’s most fervent fans lived in homes headed by blue-collar workers. For though Archie is unpleasant and bigoted, he is essentially a decent man, the head of a close-knit family who loves his wife and daughter, tolerates his son-in-law, and struggles with his inability to understand the upheavals in society. As Archie says, “The future is what’s wrong with the world today. There is too much future. There ain’t enough past.”
    "Archie’s depth and dimension were due in large part to O’Connor’s affecting performance. He humanized the man, slowly revealing a wounded soul who struggles with his fears and whom audiences could hate, pity, and maybe even like, all at the same time. Because of this, Archie-who claims in one episode, “I ain’t no bigot. I’m the first guy to say, ‘It ain’t your fault that youse are colored’”-made white viewers confront their own prejudices.

    This tv show was a US re-make of the British sitcom Till Death Us Do Part. Archie Bunker was based on the character of Alf Garnett in the UK show. The British sitcom first aired in 1965. All in the Family began six years later.

    This show was made by Norman Lear, who died this past year. Norman Lear made so many shows in the late 60’s / early 70’s and all of them were controversial for the time. Controversy sparks conversation. We need shows like this now.

    I grew up on All in the Family. To this day is my favorite t.v. show of all times. Carroll O'Connor's acting skills is bar none (depth, layered). Watch the scenes where him & Mike are trapped, the one on slavery & the Draft Dodger. True classics.

    There really isn’t any confusion on the issue. All you have to do is read the founders own works other than the constitution and they clearly wanted Americans to own guns so that they could fight another revolution if necessary… some even wanted Americans to have more than the militias. If you didn’t own at least one gun, you starved to death btw. It was not confusing for them. If they knew it would cause this issue I know they would have been more clear but to them, there was no confusion on the issue here… They had just fought a war for two years against a tyrannical state militia, the British army. They knew the country needed a militia but they also knew militias can get out of hand on their own people as had happened the previous two years and change. That’s why it clearly says the right of the people.. not the right of the militia. It’s like every other right in the Bill of Rights.. it limits the power of the government, and empowers the people over that government. There is no confusion … it’s about the people vs the government. Always has been. We are the greatest experiment in freedom on the planet … and I can’t believe people want to take that way. But they’ve always wanted to take that away. Since its creation. It’s up to the people as it has always been to protect what they have.

    The same thing was being said back then and it'll be the same discussion in another fifty years. One side believes one thing and the other side believes something else. Most of us want peace and to live in a free world, unfortunately, that's not reality, whether that's on a large scale or a very small scale, there will always be evil in the world.
    To answer the question, it was obviously Archie Bunker's Place, I grew up watching both shows back then, good reaction you two.

    All In The Family tackled every subject you can think of. And yet made it humorous. Humorous because we all knew or were these people and it was all happening around us. It tended to show the idiocy of some more strict points of view. There had never really been anything quite like it. And there never has been since. This could not be played on tv now with today's censors. A memorable episode is when he kisses Sammy Davis Jr.

    "All In The Family" broke TV norms in the 70's. There are so many topics that were covered by the show that made people look at themselves and see where we were wrong or right. It showed how much we were the same.
    It's like Mel Brooks "Blazing Saddles" addressed racism and bigotry. This episode addressed an issue of the attempted assassination of George Wallace during the 1972 Presidential campaign as well as JFK, Martin Luther King, and Bobby Kennedy. Little did they know that there would be two attempts on President Gerald Ford just a few years later including a member of the Charles Manson.
    The show was great at making us look at ourselves.
    The spinoffs from the show brought us "The Jeffersons" which in the early 70's gave us an interracial couple, "Good Times" which was about a blue collar black family and there struggles. There were so many shows that broke went where reality was.
    Look up the episode where Sammy Davis Jr. kisses Archie on the cheek.
    One of the things about the show was the cast was not afraid of pushing the issues. There is an episode that addresses rape with Edith being the victim.

    One of Archie's endearing qualities is that he had a flare for mispronouncing words or screwing up phrases to comedic effect. He (the character) did not purposely do this but it added to the character's situation where he had to drop out of school during the depression to work to help his family. Some of his classics are groinecologist for gynecologist, expensive care for intensive care, horse divers for hor dourves and bureaucraps for bureaucrats. The pearls and wine quip was a twist on the famous saying "Casting pearls before swine."

    You have to check in on more of Archie Bunker. Archie said things that nobody could even dream of saying on network TV today. And this was America's favorite TV show -- among all races -- at the time. And by the way, there were two really great spinoffs of this show -- the Jeffersons and Maude. That was an easy one for an old geezer like me. Archie Bunker's Place was more of a continuation of All in The Family than a spinoff. Love your reactions. P.S. If you can find the episode where Sammy Davis Jr. appears with Archie, I think you'll love it -- and maybe be a little shocked.

    I was 6 when this show debuted, and it was required watching every week in my house. Caroll O'Conner (Archie) was an incredible actor. In real life he was the exact opposite of Archie. Later he had a show called In the Heat of the Night. His son Hugh also played on the show until he died of a drug overdose. Carroll ended up suing the drug dealer who sold the drugs to Hugh that killed him. Class act.

    Everyone who plays All in the Family bits doesnt let enough of the show play. If you would have let it play longer you would have seen the part where Archie did an editorial on gun control on tv which was hilarious.

    There are STILL reruns on now. THE BEST and FUNNIEST sit-com on TV EVER!!!! We NEVER MISSED an episode back in the 70s ( I am 76 ). There were several spin off Shows from "All in the Family." However, you are not entirely correct. "Archie Bunker's Place" was the LAST spinoff (that ran for more than a year) It ran from 1979-1983 and took place after Archie's wife Edith dies. The FIRST spinoff (which began while "All in the Family" was still running , from 1972-1978, was "MAUDE" which also ran from 1972-1978 "MAUDE" was Edith's cousin who Archie couldn't stand, as she always stood up to him, their back and forth was hilarious. Maude was played by BEA ARTHUR who also was one of the "GOLDEN GIRLS",
    THEN there was "GOOD TIMES" which ran from 1974-79, then "THE JEFFERSONS" from 1975-85. "Lionel" who comes to the door in this episode is one of the "Jefferson's" ALL of these spinoffs from "ALL in the Family" were hilarious. But for me "ALL IN THE FAMILY," and "MAUDE" were really ground breaking and just so funny, but you(and the others) also learned something as well because they touched on very serious subjects of the day that usually were never talked about in sit-coms.
    As some have said below me, this was back when people had a sense of humor and could laugh at themselves and didn't get offended by every little thing like a lot of people do nowadays. I MISS those shows, but I can watch them here, and on my cable channel that shows a lot of them now on certain channels. ***** YES PLEASE MORE "ALL IN THE FAMILY" reactions. There ARE compilations on You Tube.

    So many things in this show are still today. That is why he is still on tv today every day.
    It has been said that he even addresses racism but it was presented in such a way it made points, but it brought laughter.
    Another one is the Jeffersons, a black show that is along the same line. The Jeffersons was😮 Archies black neighbors. It is hilarious when they get together especially Jefferson's son who appeared in this segment.

    Great show it was an American version of a British program that came out in the 60s called Till Death Us Do Part.The part of Mike in this series was played by Anthony Booth who would go on to be British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Father-In-Law.

    Look at how Mike (the son) got his nickname,How the family met Mike, Archie defending the lady at the grocery store,and The cross over into the Jeffersons.That and Good Times,Happy Days,and Laverne and Shirley are more sit coms to explore.

    You need to see the rest of this episode where Archie calls up the TV station and demands "equal time", and gives his opinions on guns - that is classic. His ideas are so crazy that sometimes, they actually have a certain, highly unconventional logic to them.

    One of the funniest things about the scene and about Archie Bunker in general, is the steady flow of his malapropisms add garbled references. He did it with that list of movie stars, and he just keeps doing it with anything they're talking about and it's hilarious.
    Edith clearly misinterprets what Archie is saying about the Constitution as the Ten commandments, and in turn he responds by misinterpreting that to be Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Lol lol lol lol.

    I loved the show, I’m old to have watched the show every week now I have all the seasons of dvds of the show 😂😂! My son laughs at my dvd collections ! But try watching a entire episode they have some on UA-cam and prime video I think you would get lots of belly laughs from it, enjoy 🤗👍! Have a Blessed Day 🦋

    Unfortunately, you did not continue watching, because for me the funniest part of this topic, was that Archie goes on TV for a rebuttal to the station manager’s opinion on gun control. Archie’s rebuttal is iconic and hilarious.

    If you guys can manage it, I would strongly recommend reacting to full episodes, for proper context and the full serving of Archie's profound "wisdom", lol.
    I am recommending full episodes, cos as I mentioned in the previous comment, the followup half of this episode is when it gets really hilarious, when Archie goes to the local TV station and appears on TV to give his rebuttal on the gun control issue.
    But for now, I'm just glad you;re exploring Archie Bunker. This show tackled ALL the big issues, and you will hear things on this show that would have gotten it canceled in 5 seconds today - controversial subjects, slurs and language that is considered "hate speech" today.

    M*A*S*H was very similar in the first couple of years, but after they ran off McLean Stevenson, Larry Linville and Wayne Rogers it became the Alan Alda show which is quite honestly the same thing as Archie Bunker only on the complete opposite side of the scale.

      They didn't "run off" either McLean Stevenson or Wayne Rogers. McLean took a gamble that his talent was worth more than playing second fiddle to Alda, and decided to go for bigger and better things. He later admitted that it was the worse decision of his life. Wayne Rogers never signed a contract for the show. He also thought his fame would allow him to make it big elsewhere. I don't remember the situation around Larry Linville.

    The reason why this show worked, is that it really showed how stupid racism, and some of the other not so pleasant views of the older generation had, was... it put out in public how some ignorant people felt, and the rest of the world laughed at how dumb it all sounded.. no one heard what Archie said and got offended, because his view was so over the top dumb...it was genius. We need a show like this nowadays. Great reaction as always. Thanks.

    Young people seem to sometimes not understand Archie the character was written by people who abhorred his views. Instead of canceling people with those views, they made people with those views look like fools, which is far more effective.

    What some people don't realize is that the 2nd Amendment, written in the 1700's, was addressing the issues following the Revolutionary War. As the country grew, the 2nd Amendment should have been modified. The Colonists gained their independence from the UK. Warfare ammunition was not supposed to be part of everyday life. What we now have is an extreme misinterpretation of the law where some believe that a semiautomatic or other military-grade weaponry is a part of basic gun ownership, which is not part of protecting life and property.

      And this is a perfect example of the "no middle ground" scenario our hosts describe--I'm not trying to negate your argument, but what you stated doesn't take into account the underlying beliefs of the drafters of the 2nd amendment:
      that their existed fundamental rights of the individual that must be protected at ANY cost from interference from a government. The primary belief that drove the second amendment was guaranteeing, individually as citizens, and collectively as militias, the ability to fight back again their own government when that government interfered with those fundamental rights. Being able to effectively fight back against the government does in fact mean parity of weaponry.
      Remember that in the 1700's, militias didn't provide guns to their soldiers--the citizens provided their own weaponry to be used during war. In other words: yes, in fact, Warfare ammunition (sic) was part of every day life, and the purpose of the amendment was to make sure the government did not attempt to change this.
      Now, I personally am not so naive that I think citizens should have access to nukes, missiles, tanks and subs--and I'm willing to concede that there does need to be SOME limit--but in my mind that limit isn't where "your side" places it.

    ALL IN THE FAMILY was a groundbreaking, watershed moment in Television History, so much so that his chair that he didnt want anyone else sitting in was requested and displayed in the SMITHSONIAN. It was the first Sit-Com that actually addressed the issues of the day in realistic terms. In the "Draft-dodger" episode, Archie becomes irate when he learns that the old friend of Mike's who was invited over for Christmas Dinner was actually avoiding being sent to Vietnam and living in Canada. Archie was so angry about his presence, leading to a heated exchange and for the 1st time in Television History did we hear someone exclaim "GOD-DAMNED!"
    "I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING MORE ABOUT THAT GOD-DAMNED WAR!!"
    That exclamation crackled over rhe Airwaves of America like a bolt of lightning.
    Archie was a Bigot, but it was more out if ignorance, not maliciousness. Millions of people identified with him and were just like him. But as the show progressed over the years, so did Archie. Underneath it all, he was still a good man. He learned how his views could have unintended consequences. He naively found himself as a new prospect as a member of the local chapter of the KKK. He gets a reality check when he finds out his white-robed and hooded associates are planning to BURN 🔥 a CROSS on Mike & Gloria's front lawn because they considered liberal Mike to be a "Pinko".
    Archie disavows the group and stands up to them to protect his family. ALL IN THE FAMILY was a seminal moment in TV history, a show that changed the nature of Television itself.
    In my view, it is the GOAT!
    (With honorable mention to M*A*S*H, another show rhat could mix comedy with the gritty reality of life and death).

    I grew up watching shows like this. It was a pretty intelligent comedy at the time, as were quite a few of Norman Lear's shows. Maude, The Jeffersons, and Good Times were his shows, too.
    Norman Lear just died. December 5, 2023. He was 101. R.I.P.

    "All in the Family" wasn't popular at the time. It was super popular. Great idea to do this. The show brought out many important topics while being one of the funniest shows ever. The whole cast was pure gold.

    So many things to unpack. Gov. George Wallace did spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. There was mention of the Supreme Court rulings on busing which was a very current issue at the time. Most interestingly, the discussion about the wording of the 2nd Amendment was very on point at the time. As Michael said, the Supreme Court had repeatedly ruled that the Second Amendment did not give individuals the right to own guns. That changed with the Heller Decision of 2011 which afforded individuals the right to own guns for personal protection.

    The show was based on the popular British comedy Till Death Us Do Part (1965-75) and was adapted for an American audience by producers Norman Lear and Alan (“Bud”) Yorkin. The show continued from 1979 to 1983 under the title Archie Bunker's Place. All in the Family became one of the most successful sitcoms of its time. The show was based on the popular British comedy .     Those 3 lines are my favorite from that entire episode LMAO.
    Also, just throwing this out there: The U.S. actually had federal gun control legislation from 1994-2004. During that time, violent crime in America *decreased by 70%.* Food for thought.

      Dude You are so wrong and this is the issue with gun haters. Fact. Researchers concluded pencil pushing (theorized) that mass crime rate would drop 70% with legislation gun control, THis is just one example of why people thing guns are bad. Because of misunderstanding of FACTS. Nothing has changed statistically since the law came into affect. Same amount of murders with guns etc.

    To begin we have to understand why the American Constitution believes in the right to keep and bear arms in the first place. The ideals of the Constitutional Republic of the United States were born in blood as the American colonies fought the British in a revolutionary war. 13 of Britain's North American colonies rejected its imperial rule. The protest began in opposition to taxes levied without colonial representation by the British monarchy and Parliament. George Washington led the Continental Army, a militia force of colony farmers who armed to fight, and defeated the powerful British armies, declaring independence, which formed the United States of America as we know it in 1776.
    After the victory, the colonies sought for George Washington to become the king of this new country. He rejected. He believed in a new form of government, a Constitutional Republic, where the government does not rule. But where the power is in the hands of the people, and the government’s job is to protect the inalienable right of the people. So they wrote the Declaration of Independence of course:
    (excerpt: “In Congress, July 4, 1776
    The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends”
    The Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights were what the government was tasked to protect, which are referred to as “god-given rights”, or natural rights all men are endowed with. Keep in mind a “Privilege” is not the same as a “right”. A privilege would mean the government controls its access, a right means it’s endowed to use by our creator naturally, and must be protected by the government. The Second Amendment, right after the 1st Amendment of Free Speech, sights man’s natural “god-given” right to self defense. Like thorns on a cactus, or claws on a bear, or ink from a squid, creatures are naturally born with defensive tools to preserve their lives. Man’s tool? His brain, which creates the tools of weapons for defense. First the rock, then the spear, then the sword, the bow, and now the rifle. The Second Amendment:
    “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
    There are two ideas in the Second Amendment here. The well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms. They both play into each other, and specifically say “shall not be infringed” upon. For this is the most vital right of them all. Without security of a free state, there is no free state after all. I’ll briefly explain. A well-regulated militia is a militia of the people. The term “well-regulated” meaning well-capable and organized for battle. It is essential that the people have a fighting force that is capable of standing up to tyranny. We can see how this idea was formed, as the founders of the country just came out of revolutionary war where they fought tyranny with the Continental Army led by Washington. Without the people bearing arms and having a well capable militia, tyranny can always prevail, as the government that is tyrannical would have a monopoly on weapons and monopoly on violence. Here are some of the founders speaking on it:
    “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country.” -James Madison (James Madison was an American statesman, diplomat, and Founding Father who served as the fourth president of the United States from 1809 to 1817. Madison is hailed as the "Father of the Constitution" for his pivotal role in drafting and promoting the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights)
    “to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them; nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on every occasion. The mind that aims at a - select militia -, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it.” - Richard Henry Lee , (an American statesman and Founding Father from Virginia, best known for the June 1776 Lee Resolution, the motion in the Second Continental Congress calling for the colonies' independence from Great Britain leading to the United States Declaration of Independence, which he signed)
    We can see the idea of “the whole body of the people” making up the militia, necessary for the security of a free state. We also see Richard Henry Lee’s idea of not allowing a “select militia” to be in control of the arms “The mind that aims at a - select militia -, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle”. The select militia would be the government’s military, police, or other federal forces, which are not the “whole body of the people”.
    We can see clear examples of tyrannical government’s in recent years who did NOT allow the whole body of the people to keep and bear arms in militia capacity, and succeeded in mass genocide against their unarmed and helpless civilians. Hitler, Stalin, Mao. These 3 individuals are responsible for the slaughter of 100,000,000 human beings in the last century alone! If only their citizens had the privilege of the militia ethos and arms bearing that the United States warned was essential to preserving a free state, perhaps history could have changed for them:
    To this day, countries like Venezuela, Russia, China, Iran, and many many more are dictatorial regimes who oppress their citizens and disregard human rights. Their police forces and militaries are responsible for immense human rights violations, and operate all the arms. Their people have no access to arms, and therefore cannot revolt. We see that the ideals of the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and Constitution the founding fathers of America wrote were well thought out for the BIG PICTURE of maintaining the freedoms we have today. And surrendering our right to the government would surely bring the downfall of the people’s power eventually, as man’s intuition with immense power corrupts them in evil as history written in blood clearly shows. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely". An armed society of citizens is the only safeguard to freedom, and a true balance of power. God bless the Republic.

      That is not in fact true: nothing in the Declaration/Bill of Rights endows those rights--the preamble itself as you quoted states that these rights are granted by god and inalienable. The Constitution and Bill of Rights were intended to further delineate and describe how the government is not allowed to infringe on these (already granted) rights.

    There were many spin offs from All in the Family, Archie Bunkers Place, Maude, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son. Single-handed changes to the way we talked and ridiculous viewpoints being exposed showed how amazing these shows were. Enjoy!!❤

    One thing to always remember about that sitcom. This show was loved but it was written from a left leaning socialist perspective attempting to change minds of conservatives, and by making Archie the conservative, bumbling, obnoxious protagonist also helped them push their messaging along too.

    Archie wasn’t a bad person (as he developed over the series), but he was saddled with ignorant assumptions he grew up with. What was genius about All In The Family was using comedy to talk about serious issues. And it wasn’t the only show back then to do it although it was the first.
    Make no mistake-many at the time were indeed offended by the show and things said and talked about, but it was bold and made people think and talk about things.
    Sadly the sensibilities of today would prevent anything like All In The Family being made today, and yet it is still relevant in many ways and maybe something like it is needed today to cut through the crap and make people think, and talk, again.

    I am for gun control, I am also a former Canadian soldier who knows what gun's are capable. There are things that can be done which we here teied, unfortunately the US and their lack of laws made our ideas useless.

    All In The Family continued beyond 1979 with a focal shift and rebrand as Archie Bunker's Place.
    This series is where other sitcoms spun off from, such as The Jeffersons and Maude, and in turn, from Maude, Good Times was spun-off.

    "All in the Family" was not just popular. It was groundbreaking. It pushed the envelope beyond anything that had been seen on broadcast television before, addressing controversial issues. It also had a severe leftist bias.
