It's amazing how you condensed in this video a lot of valuable wisdom and insights about style that normally take a person years to find out and maybe not really have these things figured out. I like your relaxed approach to style, in that things don't need to be perfect, because clothes are an investment for one's enjoyment and not to hang in a closet to prevent wear, and also I love the idea of seeing the potential in a piece and wear it in an unintended way. I could go on and on, you share a lot of stuff I wish my younger self had known. We are lucky that nowadays so many opposite styles can be mixed in one outfit, this was not always possible, but there are rules to make it work and you explain that delicate balance very well! 👏💖
So kind of you to take the time out to leave me this lovely message! Always my pleasure to learn more about style and share it here. Not everyone might have the time to really analyse/experiment as much as me, so I always hope these will be a nice condensed video to help :) I'm also so glad that mixing styles is possible now and easier to do with all the content ideas around. Have a lovely week ahead x
I LOVE that you mentioned that clothing looking worn and having imperfections is normal. I have avoided wearing my nicer items so they don't get "ruined." So I really appreciated you saying that!
Great ideas. I love silk scarves and statement jackets (blazers, especially checks/plaids, suede motos and many others) to change up my outfits. I only put things that are freshly laundered and ironed back into my closets, or otherwise appropriately freshened and prepped for wear, like blazers that I’ve steamed, aired and brushed. I hang gently worn items separately, so I don’t risk putting anything not-fresh and ready to wear back in. Even briefly worn garments make a closet smell musty, and unnoticed, nearly invisible stains, like from liquids, get permanently set. Steaming silk, wool and cashmere items before putting them back greatly reduces the chance of moth damage and removes light odors. I do launder these at the end of the season, before putting them into summer storage, also.
Thank you for the idea Kimberly! I always learn so much from you. I think what I might start doing is putting lightly worn things on a rail, and steaming it at the end of a week before putting things back.
ive been really thinking about revamping my wardrob in a smart way. ive found that i seem not to not be happy with the clothing purchases ive made for the past year, even though i really thought i loved the pieces before buying. your videos have been helping so much with he process, thank you!!
This is the first of your videos that I've seen, and wow! A lot of this is classic advice that dates back to the glamour of the 1940s, when women would get all the use and beauty they could out of every garment. As for modern oversized tops over feminine skirts, I tried this in the 1980s when it became popular, and I've been wearing it ever since! It suits almost everybody, from plus size to pear shaped. It's wonderful to see you wear colour and print too - so many fashion youtubers are still stuck in the plain beige everything type of minimalism. Congrats on a really well put together video. I've subscribed.
I appreciate and love your addition of arrows and captions for outfits in this vid!! as a visual learner, I processed those outfit breakdowns faster than the voiceover. it was super helpful at identifying your styling process. not sure how much work this will add for you, but I think they would also be nice touches to include (when applicable) in the b-roll sections where you model your own style. another great inspo vid, helen!
Love this video! Can you also share how to style skirts (mini, midi, and maxi), and how you take cake of your clothes in terms of materials (silk, velvet, linen, etc.)? Thank you so much! ♥️
You have such thoughtful notes. I honestly hadn't really thought about how steaming and ironing items before I put them in my closet will truly help me to wear my items. So cool that you're on here doing your thing because my style really aligns with yours
You've certainly shown such growth in the last year!! I also love to mix styles: mine are Scandi, edgy and feminine with a scattering of classic. It's the element of the unexpected that adds interest. It is instinctive to me, I don't think about it, but people always comment (positively haha!!).
Omg! The two styles has been my issue! I have some boho pieces with tons of blazers. I also live simple clean lines with bohemian accessories. This for the clarity!
Thank you so much for your guidance, Lumiere! I love to see how you’ve grown since I found you a couple of years ago on UA-cam 🔥 absolutely great stuff! Thank you for sharing!
Some excellent points here. I'm making much more of an effort to wear all my clothing. I have two beautiful beaded sweaters (vintage cashmere) that I basically just wore on holidays, until recently. Both look really good with a white button-down and jeans and do not look too fancy.
SO useful! Thank you :) The belt- and bra-tuck ideas were new to me - I can't wait for cold weather to roll around again so I can try that when wearing knitwear with silk skirts :). Rule of 3 is great as well, I apply that as a general tip for colour blocking too. Love most of all that you encourage an analytical approach to browsing so it's not just blind attraction (which has happened to me in the past). Blind attraction tempts me to buy something simply because it looks nice but to distinguish if we need to own it/if it works with the style we like and currently have takes effort and self control too! (Thanks always for also linking everything, timestamps and listing what you wear, it must take up so much time)
An add on for the bra tuck - you can wear layers with this! Just wear your bra over your outermost layer before the sweater your tucking! So for example, if you are wearing a turtleneck sweater under a crewneck, just wear your bra over the turtleneck, and then you can tuck the crewneck into it!
I am excited to every new vid! So many beautiful and CONFORTABLE items. Helen would you be so kind to tell where you bought your brown long coat? I found a very similar one in Mango (80% wool and 20% poly), however I am fighting internally whether I should accept 20% poly? It is for 129 EUR…
So many useful tips and tricks! I love the idea of layering a sweater underneath a coat using the neckline approach that you suggested - and I thought even without the coat on top, you really pulled off the "bulging-sweater-around-your-neck" look if I do say so myself!
Such good tips thank you :) Really need to have a good clearout, have thrifted some great things but am finding it hard to 'find' the pieces I want to wear - 2022 is the year I'm going to organise my closet!
Awesome video, love the tips! How do you store your knitwear to prevent them from stretching out on hangers? Would love to see an updated storage video!
Thank you :) There's this folding trick I've started to do on a hanger which I'll be happy to share - maybe on instagram, just message me and I can send you a photo. I do this when things have to be on hangers e.g. filming. Otherwise, for storage I keep them folded in drawers x
Love it! I always believe that minimal simple style with quality, is a must have in the wardrobe, . Recently just upload a similar video maybe for more reference.
I like the jean vest. Can you please provide the brand and where you found it? Also, are you able to shop online and have luck with that or do you prefer to shop in person and try things on? Thanks in advance!
Your style has really evolved. I agree, I love minimalist style but I also love Liberty prints and ruffles. I’m Learning to accept that in my style. Please share the artist of the print in your room. Thanks! 🤗
Hi! Very nice video! Thank you for that. Also that part about 70% classics and 30% statements. Do you maybe have some tips where I could buy some nice classic pieces? I haven’t found the right place yet..
Happy New Year and thanks sooo much for all your very useful tips. I will be trying lots of them. What steamer are you using in the video. I am thinking of buying one but need a good recommendation 🥰
this is one of the best fashion content I have seen in a long time. My own taste in fashion is very different than yours, yet almost all of your tips apply regardless. Goes to show this is great quality advice! I'll be back :)
Great video! Love the explination of the rule of 3 but was wondering, where I live you take off all your outerwear (jackets, coats, shoes, bags etc) when you go inside and if you're going to be inside for most of the day, would you still count bags and shoes in that "rule of 3" or omit them and mostly look at the clothes as "the outfit"? Also, I wanted to ask you if you experienced any shinking with your & other stories checkered midi wrap dress? Am thinking of buying but scared of the 80% viscose and the washing instructions of 40 degrees since I don't want it to shrink... any thoughts on this?
I think most of the time at work/indoors, I would disregard my jacket if I know I won't be wearing it very long. So the rule of 3 would apply to the clothes I'll keep on such as jewellery, top, bottom, shoe (take out the bag as well as this will sit at the desk). If I'm going out, I'll always be holding my jacket etc, so in that case it would be included. I usually don't overthink this and only use it to fix outfits in the morning before I head out if I'm not happy with the look. Otherwise it gets a bit complex for my liking haha. With the dress, I wash it at 30 degrees, inside out, on delicate and no issues I've noticed with shrinking. I think if you're concerned, then handwashing would probably be the safest bet/otherwise finding a fabric alternative in this style. I think I've seen a wool alternative on their site x
Hi there. I’m wondering if you can comment on how much you like your Loueve puzzle bag and which size it is. I keep looking at them and don’t want to make a mistake considering the cost. Thanks so much.
I love envisioning outfits with a piece before I bring it into my wardrobe. I have all of my clothes catalogued in the "YourCloset" mobile app, and I also use it to map out potential new pieces. It's also great to avoid impulse purchases, especially for duplicates, which can be an issue for me. I can look in the app and remind myself of what I already have and spot a duplicate before obtaining another.
Regarding trend vs statement piece, what's your take on pleated skirts? Or any other style that u find more classic n never going out of styling. Also I have never seen much tweed pieces in ur wardrobe. Thank u sooo much for all these videos. U won't believe it but even these rules apply to my desi wardrobe at times.
I don’t like to over wash my sweater and jeans too but now that we’re in the middle of the pandemic i feel so wrong not washing it and I feel like it’s too big of a risk because the virus can actually stay on surfaces. So I wash everything now after every wear. Probably it won’t work with coats and jackets but I live in Malaysia, it’s so hot so for now I don’t have to wear those. What is the function of cedar spray?
Oh that's 100% true, I am the same. Tend to wash clothes a lot more often right now. Cedar spray is meant to prevent moths due to the scent and keep clothes feeling fresh. Something simple I like to use in my wardrobe between washes.
Thank you! It was a outnet find in the sales a while ago. I recommend keeping an eye out on the outnet for good blazers, they often have ones that are heavily discounted in a nice fabric/style :)

Couldn’t agree more. Well said.
I LOVE that you mentioned that clothing looking worn and having imperfections is normal. I have avoided wearing my nicer items so they don't get "ruined." So I really appreciated you saying that!
I really appreciate the fact that you have titles for each area of the video and the fact that you have them separated into time intervals ❤

GIRL. This is the best video I watched for styling!!! Extremely informative and helpful. You have a new subscriber and admirer!
The painting above your dresser is beautiful!
You're style has really evolved beautifully! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration 😊!!
You’ve helped me shape my style so much since I started watching a few months ago. Thank you, and I hope you have a great year ahead 😊
Hi Natalie :) Thank you so much! I'm so glad these videos have been helpful, hope you have a great year ahead too x

Wow! This was so detailed and explained so well. Definitely Saving so I can come back to this time and time again! Thank you!
Thank you Lisa! So glad that these lessons work for you as well x

Love it all. So much style inspiration here. Everything looks amazing 🤩
Thank you so much Bri! :) x
In a few months, I hope you do an updated handbag collection, I love those videos of yours and can’t wait to hear your thoughts on new additions !!

So much valuable info in here! Thank you for putting it all together.
What a fantastic, informative video! And great to see some summer outfits in the mix - thank you for having listened 😎
Thank you! :) I love sharing summer outfits, means I'm not absolutely melting while filming haha. Have a lovely week ahead x
Awesome videos as usual! The tip on storage is such a great and practical idea ☺️
Thanks, Helen for your insights and tips! I especially like how you wear sweaters draped over the shoulders in different ways! 😍
Last half of this video was genuinely fantastic advice.
Learning to love what you have and only keep what you love, etc. Awesome.
I love your long videos, so much good advice. I'd also like to learn how you use canva to plan outfits/your wardrobe.
An add on for the bra tuck - you can wear layers with this! Just wear your bra over your outermost layer before the sweater your tucking! So for example, if you are wearing a turtleneck sweater under a crewneck, just wear your bra over the turtleneck, and then you can tuck the crewneck into it!

Hi, I just discovered your channel and now I’m binge watching ! Can you advise the colourway of your Loewe puzzle pls x
So many useful tips and tricks! I love the idea of layering a sweater underneath a coat using the neckline approach that you suggested - and I thought even without the coat on top, you really pulled off the "bulging-sweater-around-your-neck" look if I do say so myself!
Thank you so much!!! :))) x

Amazing tips 🙌🏻and I love your nails in this video 😍😍😍😍😍
I do like structure with feminine looks. I love the modern soft style of it.

Hi there. I’m wondering if you can comment on how much you like your Loueve puzzle bag and which size it is. I keep looking at them and don’t want to make a mistake considering the cost. Thanks so much.
Can you do a video on styling midi skirts dresses in the winter.
You should do a video looking back at your teenage fashion to see how far you've come lol
Would be open to it. The thing is I don't have a lot of photos from that time but could be a fun video :) Thanks for the idea xx
Hi Helen would like to know if you purchased your puzzle from My Theresa? Do you mind sharing how's your experience with them?
That Loewe puzzle bag 😍😍 a review video please!

Where did you get your gray double-breasted blazer you wear in the beginning of the video?! It’s so lovely!!
Thank you! It was a outnet find in the sales a while ago. I recommend keeping an eye out on the outnet for good blazers, they often have ones that are heavily discounted in a nice fabric/style :)
@@DailyHelenJ I second this. They have the BEST blazer collection and on SALE.
So basically everything you want to wear you can call a "statement"?
Thank you for sharing your super cool looks. The loos sexy yet comfortable 🌺
