Very thoughtful. I really like logic behind prioritising the wish list! I recently had an epiphany for my cold weather wardrobe. I loved the thought of layers with shirts and blouses for variety, but in reality I only ever reached for the knitted or jersey texture tops and I can’t stand a cotton or silk shirt on my skin in the winter 🤷🏻♀️ or I like the thought and look of blazers, but every time I wear one I can’t wait to take it off and relax. Love to buy hate to wear so blazers are actually out for me. Same with jeans. Can’t wait to take them off. Wonder if other people have such a strong reaction to how some garments feel on the body or do they feel that discomfort is normal 🤔🤔
Love to buy, hate to wear 👀👀👀 that really got me thinking! This was such a great epiphany to have! I think some folks have a higher tolerance for discomfort if it serves them in another way - makes them feel put together or well presented, or puts them in that headspace of "I'm off to work, I need to feel structured and poised" or whatever. This has been so good to get me thinking, thank you! 🥰✨️
That practical part is just so real. I just spent on underwear because mine are worn and torn and I tend to go cheap since it will always be replaced....but realizing, its what I sould splurge on since it sits literally besides my private parts.
Sooo so true, it's one of the most fundamental parts of our wardrobe!! I have heard personal stylists say how they can instantly tell how a woman has been prioritising herself (or not) by the state of her underwear drawer 👀🤭
Great video! I love that you made a distinction between practical & aesthetic. I’m also in the process of rebuilding my wardrobe and can’t wait to follow along on your journey ❤
I think its really important when building your wardrobe not to settle too if there is an item that you're really excited about getting or have been needing in your wardrobe for a while to style other pieces in your wardrobe if you order that item and it doesn't fit you the way you wanted it to or it does not feel comfortable or the colour is slightly off too big too small too baggy too tight dont keep that item and think it will do until i find a better one you wont feel good wearing it thats if you wear it at all if its not exactly what you wanted or needed then send it back and wait until you find the exact piece you wanted i know you can get things tailored if the fit is slightly off or a little bit big but if you know that you're unlikely to get around to taking it to get altered it will just clutter up your wardrobe dont settle for anything less than the moment you put it on you love it ❤
We all need to tattoo this one on our hearts 😤 no more compromise! Even if you have to be nude for a few months in pursuit of perfection 😂😂 - only joking. I definitely agree though, we need to stick to our own high standards if we wamt to have a wardrobe we love and feel good in all our outfits!
Alanna, this is very helpful, very well articulated 👏 I really appreciate that your content is both inspirations and analysis/organisation (makes sense?) My main challenge is shopping better so I’ll definitely spend some time next weekend to reorganize my shopping list!
@@eve_in_paris thank you, yes it makes sense! I'm equally driven by both - inspiration and also analysis (the nitty gritty) 💖 it feels SO good to categorise everything, more than I expected! 🥰✨️
Ooh, well it depends on how you dress and your climate but - cardigans yes, light sweaters or overshirts, a dress or overalls over a long sleeve or tshirt, any kind of apron or really just anything that adds an extra layer or dimension
Great idea to categorise your wishlist! It can so easily become overwhelming and hard to know where to start. I had to stop the video halfway and check where the items I added to my wardrobe fit in 😅 Definitely have been focusing more on the aesthetic gaps than the practical 🤭 I guess those are just more fun to shop for. Still on the hunt for a practical stylish winter coat but haven't found one yet which starts to be a bit frustrating. And then it's so easy to get a bit distracted by looking at other things on my wishlist, where the perfect item seems to appear. I get soooo tempted even though it was something I had planned to buy later 🙈
@@sigriddjernaes same! The distractions are everywhere! It absolutely gets frustrating when you need that one practical item but can't seem to find 'the one' (I'm like that with jeans...) There's so many ways to approach it - keep the coat money set aside so you know you can pounce when it manifests, and still shop for the fun aesthetic pieces in the meantime. Or 'buy one practical, then one aesthetic' I always go through phases of finding soo many amazing things, then it's crickets and I don't like anything I'm seeing 😅 feast and famine!
I love your Wishlist its beautiful. Im just interested about what everyone likes about bodysuits. No judgement here but if anyone feels like commenting on it I would love to know. Ive never really been drawn to them before.
@@nataliehale96 i feel like there are pros and cons, I haven't had a bodysuit before but they stay tucked so nicely and give you option of a plunging back where a tshirt really can't ✨️ Would love anyone's input too!
I actually love them because I usually wear tights and they prevent them from going anywhere. I guess if you mostly wear pants that’s not a huge thing but for a skirt girly like me it’s a game changer :)
I feel like I need tops that are more form fitting. There’s something about my body type that just looks messy or childish even when I just wear regular slightly loose fitting t-shirts. Plus they’re just really neat and easy and they go with most bottoms.
I never used to like bodysuits because I didn’t see how they’d fit into my wardrobe. However, I’ve recently purchased two (black and gray crew neck), and I love them! I like to tuck my shirts in, but I don’t like the feeling of bunched material pressing on my waist area, which often happens to me when tucking in shirts. Bodysuits make the tucking in process smoother. I also prefer high necked tops for modesty and so my necklace(s) can be better seen, and the bodysuits I’ve found are smooth and lay close to my body. I also find that under blazers and cardigans bodysuits work well for me because the sleeves are less bulky than a button down or t shirt. I buy mine from Abercrombie and they’re mostly cotton with a little spandex.
Obviously. But when it comes to priorities, how do you deal with multiple items from each point? Are simple tank tops more important than cashmere turtlenecks? Is fulfilling an entire category more important than buying one item from each category? From the point of view of explaining this system, I don't understand why the list isn't longer or just artificially shortened for the video.

Can I ask where you’re from? Your accent is hard to place? You sound Irish mostly but possibly Scottish?
I am Irish! 🥰 My accent has softened since living in NZ for so long. It often gets stronger if I visit Ireland or speak on the phone with family
You still have your accent, the odd word sounded a touch Scottish so wasn’t sure! You don’t have a NZ accent anyway ☺️
@CiaraM09 It would take an act of God for me to have a NZ accent 😅 I can't even do a good impression of one 😆
This wishlist isn't 10 pieces. Each point on your list is plural...
It's more like 10 categories 😊 though I would just choose one piece from each most likely. Everyone is entitled to their own way of wishlisting ✨️
