Love your tips, so wise. That one on the importance of using statement pieces really caught me: you're right, there is no fun in putting together an outfit if the idea of wearing it doesn't get you excited!
Thank you :) I think I just realised I don't have a true classic/minimal style so the guides don't 100% apply to my style even though they theoretically make a lot of sense. We should be excited by our outfits/style :)
Thank you for these tips! Especially #2, don't compromise on details. I used to think I was crazy for returning an item that I loved, except for one little thing. I would panic and think, maybe the perfect 'shirt/pant/jacket' just doesn't exist, and this is the closest you'll ever find / or I'll just wear this until I find something 100% perfect. But ultimately, it's never worth it!
I've gained so much understanding and confidence of my personal style this last 1.5 years. Working at home, I don't mind experimenting because my colleagues don't usually see my full outfit and if I don't like it I can change anytime. It's been so fun to try things I wouldn't normally have the confidence to and to relearn to do these things for myself only.
A couple of thoughts about your video, which by the way I really appreciated, it was so thoughtful. Yes, it is time consuming together outfits in advance and photograph them or write them down or however you want to keep a record of what worked, but for me it is down time. It is something I enjoy doing the kind of lets my mind run peacefully, as opposed to work or things that I'm doing for other people. So for me, it is a pleasurable, easy task that I do for one hour every day to build up outfits I like. Secondly, as well as who we dress for. I definitely dress for the pleasure of seeing myself well put together, but I'm actually surprised by how not infrequently I get comments about my outfit. One woman in my book group said, "You always look so stylish, it's something I don't bother with myself and would never know how to do, but I really admire it in you" and that was one of the nicest compliments I ever got because it meant that someone who didn't normally think about fashion had actually thought about fashion because my outfit roused her from her indifference. I hope that doesn't sound conceited, I wasn't dressed in a particularly outstanding way, I had just given thought to what colors and shapes went together and she appreciated. So, yes, I dress for myself, but I always feel a little rush from a compliment (which are never from men, I might add!!)
Thanks for sharing Heidi, I really LOVE what you said and it is not conceited at all in any way. Sometimes our own effort/passion inspires others and it is really the best feeling in not only getting a compliment but being able to share the thing that we enjoy, which in this case is styling/fashion :))
I completely agree! Wear what makes you feel like the best version of yourself. In my own journey I was often influenced by people , you need that white black grey , those denim jeans, that "classic white button down" I'd collect these things and look at my wardrobe bored to the gills . It's okay if you aren't basic, and it's also okay to make mistakes. Your personal style , as is mine, is a fluid thing. It changes as we grow as people, as we experience things , and experiments along with fails, are how you find out what works and what doesn't. My advice to us girls and boys who love fashion? Be patient with yourself, and don't be afraid to wear it!
These tips are quite helpful, Helen. I have been trying to add some color and fun back into my basics. However, I'm still struggling with the outfit formulas. Although I logically understand what looks best together and on me, I still seem to only wear oversized on oversized. My body is changing and I think my mind has not yet caught up 😅
Thank you so much :) Maybe taking 10-15 pieces of clothing out of your wardrobe for a mini capsule might help :) That way you can pick a few pieces that are oversized, some that are not and it might be easier to play around that way :) x
Great tips! I completely agree that you should wear what you want regardless of what other people think. If it makes you happy and you feel good in it, that's all that matters. This video also made me excited to be able to wear fall/winter clothing again. We've reached the point in the season where I'm tired of my summer wardrobe haha.
It’s like that “on-trend” bubble gum pink, I just don’t like it. But, I will wear my pale pinks forever, although they are rarely “in”. I don’t think colors date as much as styles, and should be chosen to suit oneself, not because they’re trending.
I just discovered your channel and I like the content, very helpful. When it comes to the oversized styles, I think is very important to take into account body shape, I have an hour glass figure and have tried embracing the oversized clothing styles but they do not look good on me at all. I prefer things that are more form fitting, not tight. Also, I agree with you about the importance of tailoring your clothes. I’m 5ft tall so even petite clothing can be too long on me, thankfully I know a bit of sewing and with some UA-cam tutorials, I now tailor my own hems and blazer sleeves, since doing that I have noticed a big difference, I no longer look like I’m wearing someone else’s clothes.
I'm petite and have quite an hourglass figure as well which made me believe oversize or looser silhouettes look less good on me but the issue is really on what type of over-sized silhouettes/styles that flatter your body the best🤔
I agree. I would be so bored if I only had basic pieces. They are the necessary framework for a wardrobe, but it’s the more special items that make clothes fun.
Thank you so much for your videos and insight, Helen - I love how you always encourage us to just be true to ourselves and wear what we like and feel great in over just following what's popular in the moment. I was wondering if I could request a video topic - I would love to learn from you how you care for and store coats during regular (winter) wear, especially cashmere or other natural fiber coats. Thank you!
Great video, Helen, thanks. Your style is very different from mine, but I find it very beautiful! Take-home for me: trying to put items I don't wear very often into tried and tested outfit formulas rather than just grabbing the usuals.
Great video🌸🌸 Since I have discovered the 7 universal styles, my colour palette and the body type I have, everything is easier to shop. The 7universal styles combine and give other sub-styles like preppy, bohochic, classic, hipster... I am: traditional, romantic with touches of creative To try trends I shop in thirft stores and if I like it, maybe I would buy it in an expensive material, if not, I doesn't hurt much to pay 3$ for that item👌
I really like these tips and I think they're really good. I especially agree with tailoring. The perfect fit tailored to you really makes a difference.
I love all of your outfits but I'm too small (148cm, 40kg), and it's my biggest insecurities because I'm always mistaken as a teenager girl no matter how much effort I put into my overall outfit. I hope you'd always make a video about petite ladies. 🥺
I frequently have to have trousers shortened, I'm 5'3" and lots of styles are too long. I think it's worth the expense as I definitely do wear them more after alteration. I also gravitate towards looser fit these days which is a change as I always used to prefer more fitted.. As you say your personal style is ever changing. Great video as always 👍😘
I always hear the advice that other people dont care what you are wearing but I am one of those people who are always checking what people are wearing hahaha and judging them in my head (for good or bad) hahaha
I think factoring it in has been key for me too and to know in my head how much to expect the job will be. Nothing worse than buying something and realising the tailoring cost is as much as the item. Thank you so much for watching Heidi x

Love that last point to not be afraid to wear what we want :) Thank you so much for sharing and watching :) xx
You’re my fashion icon!..so classy!..😊❤️
You're too kind, thank you!! :)

Thanks Lauren :) Even though I'm not technically going into A/W, I am super excited for it as well and to share some more outfit ideas soon x
Statement item tip is really a good one! Sometimes Having all the basics is not the answer...
It’s like that “on-trend” bubble gum pink, I just don’t like it. But, I will wear my pale pinks forever, although they are rarely “in”. I don’t think colors date as much as styles, and should be chosen to suit oneself, not because they’re trending.
Absolutely :) I love that everyone has their go-to colours and it helps keep things looking interesting when mixed in with the basics.
Agree with Outfits formulas are being super helpful when trying to put an outfit together in a rush or in the morning half sleep 😅
Great tips! 💕
Walking around half asleep and trying to find something to wear is pretty much my morning routine pre WFH :) Thank you so much for watching x
I love your videos and how you style your pieces which has taught me a lot. 💖
I love these discussion type of videos about personal style and the thought process that goes into choosing an outfit
♡♡
I love filming these so lots more to come :) Thank you for watching x

Thank you Kimberly :) Took me a while to fully realise this, but definitely key in a versatile wardrobe
Very helpful narrative and well illustrated. Thank you for putting this together for us Helen!
Thank you so much. Loved putting this one together :) xx

You have such a clean and tasteful style !
You inspired me to update my wardrobe and be practical about it 🤗 thank you
Thank you so much :) Have fun updating your style/wardrobe xx
I love your printed bottoms, they're so beautiful

A fantastic idea, such a good way to try trends without breaking the bank or buying anything 'new'. Thank you so much for watching xx
I must admit, I love your style. Very girly and at the same time a bit edgy. Love it😍. Greetings from Vienna
Thank you so much :) and what a lovely lovely city to live in!

Loved this Helen. Keep these tips videos coming, they are so helpful and help me evolve my style too ♥️♥️
Yay so glad :) Thank you so so much xx
Just wanted to say great job with this video, very helpful & interesting 🤗
I really like these tips and I think they're really good. I especially agree with tailoring. The perfect fit tailored to you really makes a difference.
Thank you for watching Michelle :) It has made the biggest difference, just those little differences to sleeve/pant lengths x
I love all of your outfits but I'm too small (148cm, 40kg), and it's my biggest insecurities because I'm always mistaken as a teenager girl no matter how much effort I put into my overall outfit. I hope you'd always make a video about petite ladies. 🥺

Thank you Harnish :) xx

Thank you so much :) Pant length is absolutely key for me too as most tailored trousers come soo long on me I end up taking up 10-15 cm haha.
Very helpful for planning our future back in office wear!
Thank you so much Kim :)
Such useful ideas. Thanks!
I agree with basic on basic! It can feel so bland and refreshing to hear someone point that out.
I always hear the advice that other people dont care what you are wearing but I am one of those people who are always checking what people are wearing hahaha and judging them in my head (for good or bad) hahaha
Great video on getting the best fit in clothing.
Love the last tip! So, true!
Thank you so much :) x
Great video ideas and inspiration 💕
Thank you Vilma :) So kind of you xx
I love your chic style.
Love your tips and now I’m feeling inspired!! Where are your nude heels from?
Thanks Linda :) The light pink nude heels are from Jonak, the double strap nude heels are from By Far :) x
Great tips. Thank you.
Thank you Raquel :) x
Great topic❣️❣️
Thank you Linda :)
Tailoring is SOOO expensive, I agree. It's a necessity but really needs to be factored in to the cost of what you're buying.
I think factoring it in has been key for me too and to know in my head how much to expect the job will be. Nothing worse than buying something and realising the tailoring cost is as much as the item. Thank you so much for watching Heidi x
Just what I need when I eventually go back to work...not that I want to! :)
Working from home is definitely my preferred too hehe :) Thanks for watching x
couldn't agree with you more about basics and neutrals. To me, those outfits are pretty boring to wear and boring to look at. I love my HERO pieces!!!
Love those hero pieces too :) They honestly make me much more excited about style/and daily outfits. Thank you for watching x
yes sleeves are always to long.. :)
They always are on me too :)
Hello🌹
Love love love the 19 I got my small black in September 🤍 I like their bag *repxbag* commercial
