    Awesome build, Kirby! This project combines the two projects I'm currently working on, I'll share when it's complete.
    Between the infinite baffle build and now this, lately you have really been thinking......outside the box.
    I'll see myself out.

    Kirby, this is a really fun build. Aside from the holiday theme, I could imagine them in some kid's dorm room. Do the lights rattle when turned up? It's nothing some hot glue couldn't fix...just wondering.

    Looking good, any problems with the cloth touching the cone and/or rubber surround of the speaker and causing unwanted noise or vibrations?

    I thought about getting the kit. The led's are running on CR2032 3V. The Li-ion is 3.7 V. I wonder if you could run the led's on the Li-ion battery without damaging them.

    Would love to see a hole drilled for the speaker wire to exit, near the bottom. Drilling glass is tricky though.

      It's hard to drill small holes in glass with the wrong bit 😂.

    I read a comment on another video about cylinders being a poor shape for sound wave diffraction within the enclosure and I was curious if you've ever installed hemispherical backs into any of your cylindrical speaker builds and if that has improved their audio quality. I'm also curious if porting helps, particularly when dealing with such small full-range drivers.

    • @jcweiz09
      @jcweiz09 6 років тому

      I heard subwoofers in a cylindrical enclosure and sounded great. But it has a flared bass port on the other side. It sounds great though. I think it was a TV subwoofer.

    Any plans for a mason jar portable speaker build? Or any idea for a small enough power supply for these jars?

  • @luketien928
    @luketien928 3 роки тому

    Any rub & buzz from the components and lights inside? Or is the power not great enough to vibrate those against the glass?

    I see you made ceramic jar speakers too, what material is better for sound quality?

    • @sethh8892
      @sethh8892 5 років тому +1

      The more dense, the better. Ceramic is great for mids and highs. I wouldnt use it for a subwoofer, however.

    Cool build! Although, I'm a bit upset because I thought I would have the coolest LED & speaker combination uploaded on November 21st.....Just kidding, of course, I'm actually hoping your video gets more people thinking about the design possibilities when you combine light and sound in a speaker :) Your videos were super helpful when I was working on my speaker build, and I learn something every time I watch a new video from you.

    • @KirbyMeetsAudio
      @KirbyMeetsAudio  6 років тому

      +Modustrial Maker Hey man! Thanks so much! You’re speaker build is awesome. I’ve wanted to integrate an arduino into a build for a while now. I also have a few raspberry pi’s I need to get into some speakers!

    • @modustrial
      @modustrial 6 років тому

      Wow, thanks much. Means a lot coming from the speaker master! I'm thinking about actually designing a PCB shield for all the music reactive components to plug into an Arduino (or WeMos D1), so I can simply hook up the LEDs, Mic, push button, power, etc. to the microcontroller (ie., the messy electronics part I left out of my video :) ) I keep having to do this from scratch every time I make an audio reactive project so it should save time for me.
      If I can pull this off, I was also thinking it would be fun to send the PCBs to some fellow UA-camrs to see what they can dream up with it. Would you be interested?

    Hi!! I LOVE watching your videos!! I was not sure how to contact you, but I am 16 years old and of all of the diy speakers I have seen, I have been so interested in creating this one that you have made! It has been difficult trying to purchase all of the pieces separately so I was really happy to find a good quality speaker with all of the materials there! I checked your website a few weeks ago wanting to purchase this specific speaker kit, but I saw that they were sold out:( I sent the email to request you guys to let me know when the kits are restocked, but never received one! I just checked again today to see, and it looked like all of the speaker kits were not on the website anymore! I am so sad because I was really looking forward to eventually making this speaker myself for the first time! I was just wondering if you were by any chance planning on making these kits again? or if there is ANY way possible you could make one more? I would purchase it right away. This would make me beyond happy. Have a great day! Thank you so much !!!:)

    you shouldn't use a vernier to scribe a line! you should use a scribe or spring backed dividers. when you are using a hole saw to cut through thick wood if you got most of the way through one side and the rest of the way from the other side most of the piece will be sticking out of the holesaw and you won't need to dig it out you can easily just pull it out. but otherwise great craftsmanship and filmography
