Hi there
I am big fan of your work:) thanks for all useful info on your channel;)
I came across this video and I am very excited. Could you have look and maybe in the future you could do video about something like that.
ua-cam.com/video/NTfl7o5xbyI/v-deo.html
Love your projects Matt..Keep up the good work
I might make this for my plants(hmm, maybe I could use UVA bulbs?) but I don't see the point other than if you love "steampunk things".
DIY Perks I just built the ultimate diy projector you taught on another video. It’s amazing and fun.
Heey Matt/DiyPerks,
Recently I have started work on your project: speaker with a glass on the top of it and led filiments inside. I hope you know witch one i'm talking about.
At this moment i have finisched the electronics, but i have a very big problem... the ampifier boards you use keep destroing themselfes in my speaker, so far i watched 2 board go up in flames and i'm very afraid of placing in a new one because the delievery times are realllllyy long for me. I would like to know if you know how this happens and if this has happend to you.
When i'm done with the electrics everything works and the sound is great but when i turn it of, wait a few minutes and try it on for a second time. The board shoots flames and i can start over again....
I would really like your help.
Components:
Dayton audio speakers nd65-8 2-1/2
Amp: OEP30W (the stereo type like your concrete speaker)
Power: 19V old laptop power supply
Potentiometer 50kohm dualgang with switch.
Do you have any idea why my boards work the first time but the second or thirt time they go up in flames...
I really look forward to your reaction,
My project is at a stop now if I can't figger this out my project ends here.
Thank you so much,
Kind regards,
Roy de Kock
Ps. I'm really sorry for spelling mistakes english isn't my first languege. Love your video's.
You're like the Bob Ross of electronics ;-)
"Now let's build some happy little iClouds...."
@@NorthernKitty good one!

"oops it looks like these bird's have died, well I'll show you how to repurpose them"
I was just thinking that
I swear to god every aspect of every project you do is so amazingly executed.
Apart from your amazing inventions, you've got a really good taste for colour grading and visuals, I love your work! ;)
Nobody has ever said "i'll be giving it an acetone vapour bath"
so energetically.
Hats off sir.
Here’s what I love about your channel:
Your projects are technically impressive and *tastefully* impressive!
Most excellent..... I want 2.... for my desk. Two speakers that don't look like speakers, but light my desk. Brilliant !!!!! 🤩
This man is truly an artist. Every little detail is handled so beautifully.
Who knew Theon Greyjoy was such a smart cookie! This channel is amazing, and done so well!
Imagining making two of these and a Sub with a gigant vase :D for a 2.1 system.. nice lamps and good audio.. would be fun!

This video is amazing. But whats even better is mr. Perk's voice, being that it is nice and calm, relaxed, methodical and therapeutic. He isnt rushing to get anywhere, just going at a gentle pace for you understand. Highest quality videos from this guy.
Wow, if you hadn't told me otherwise, I would never have guessed that was a drinking glass. Thank you for your time and sharing. This just might be my speakers for my XM radio. I just got the siriusxm tour receiver and that thing is freaking awesome!
You look like a teacher so much . Teaching stuff to people fit you very well .

Really really nice, it's a really cool project, great job man!
really nice project
I'm imagining this encased in a faux lantern with a wider base to prevent tip-over. Nice, simple build. I love it.

"This is how you make this stunning Bluetooth speaker, first you'll need a 3D printer..."
Well, looks like I'm not making this project then... 😅
Not to hard to get your hands on if you have time to spend

Guarantee the design could be molded.
He said there were services to apply a model and get the product
Check your local public library. Mine has 3d printers and the cost to print with them is just the cost of material, which isn't much.
This dude's smile is contagious af and his happiness and smile is literally just so genuine and pure 😂
Amazing video as always but i think "filament" could be slightly twisted into double helix shape making it far more interesting to look at.
Sounds cool, dude, do it!
Very cool, might build this for my GFs Birthday! One thing I could think of to make it better: Include a nice power switch like those tactile ones with maybe an LED just for convenience!
"This is very cheap and easy to make"
*gets excited*
"This is going to be 3D printed"

So follow the instructions and find a service to make it for you at an affordable price...
For those who now you can pretty much go from YOUR SOLIDWORKS WORK to a 3D program for your/a 3d printer you can kill ChickenMcNublets later.

@@xxpatrick204xx What?
My local library has gaming computers and a game room with Xbox, Playstation, and Switch. Luckily my local library knows me very well so they will likely listen to my recommendation
My library has homeless people....
I love this design. It looks like a massive vacuum tube amp.
Dude, you've come a long way with your speakers. I truly appreciate how you are displaying the audio quality. Hope to see further progress on that.
I literally hit the like button before I even watch your videos
nice to come home from work and get to see a new DIY Perks video :)
Your a good bloke, there are far too few gentlemen these days that have your intellegence and vigor. Keep it up.
Looks amazing, for bonus points make the leds flicker ever so slightly based on the sound, like an old tube amplifier.
Tubes don't flicker due to what they are amplifying... Just saying.
You'd have to put some component monitoring the power draw of the amp to adjust the voltage of the LEDs between the amp an,d the LEDs. Any ideas? Maybe a bit much for some flicker. Maybe it's easier to put a component with microphone that modifies voltage according to the level it picks up. Someone suggest an (easy, sensible) solution.
Your eyes might object.
Tubes with high plate voltages will flicker when they are driven hard
very very cool idea to make modern stuff with a vintage look.
Bit of a tip with sketchup, you can drastically increase the number of sides of circle/arc if you scale up the model and scale it back down when you're done. This way you can make a circle with up to a 1000 sides rather than whatever arbitrary limit it uses when you're making smaller models. Also certain functions like 'intersect faces' work more reliably when the model is scaled up. I usually scale my more detailed models up up by 10x.
I don't know who could not like this! Very cool!
Anyone notice the tiny bug on the speaker at 4:27 ?
Was totally triggering my OCD.

i found your dimmer
you need to wire it inline (series) with the LEDs not replace any components of the current circuit.
Master volume?
You are a very creative individual. Using the simplest of items to deliver ultimate pleasure and recycling. Love all your ideas and vids.
I really like how you grasp the idea of Home DIY, high tech Computers, and Art all into one. Really cool!
Nice choice of music you got there! Great low budget project as well.
Love your videos, the way you explain stuff just makes sense. Great project by the way
This combined with the stereo Bluetooth headphone speakers 🔊 epic!
I really loved this project. It looks amazing. I was wondering if a similar project would work refurbishong an old oil lamp... I mean... keeping the looks but acting as a speaker.
I don't know why but your diys are so satisfying to watch.
This is brilliant. I love what you do. Thanks for getting on Patreon so I can stop sponging off your free videos! ;)

you could add a potentiometer on the outside to have adjustable brightness (by adjusting the voltage of the dc converter)

I love the idea of making a sounding speaker with a nice vintage touched. make more of this category. love it from Philippines.
Also, when drilling abs, pla, etc, use a stepper bit for a cleaner hole.

0:30 OMFG!!! wait, no nevermind... thought you were doing something else sitting there.
You have some of the nicest looking stuff that is really DIY. Meaning you don't have to be a master craftsman to make it. Good design.
You invent stuff for the year 2045 but your hair is stuck in 1982. Great vid though!
The video and the 82' hair are great. Keep going :)
its the MacGyver look. quite apropriate.
He's looking more and more like Garfield's owner, Jon.
hey , i only liked the vid because of the hair , don't be mocking that hairstyle
Face of 15 year old hair of a 45 year old
The Audio history behind that middle piece in that plastic model is fascinating and could take up an entire video.
If one hooked a mosfet from the speaker side and used it to like the leds.
The way the leds would flicker with the sound
This is the coolest video ever. Those LED tubes are amazing.
Did anyone else spot the tiny little insect on the speaker?? Although Nice Idea!!!!

Morrisons! Though I've seen them all over the place to be honest.
Why do you need to print them in 3 pieces when the first thing you do is glue the pieces together?
i just love vintage effects so calm and cosy ambient
If anyone needs a 3D printer hit up your local community college, mine has one and you can use it for free
Cool! I didn't know that. Thanks
Bummer Wuhan virus has us on lockdown. We go to college online now. Perfect
Rey Sun I believe there are some companies online you can pay them and they’ll ship it to you
I live in central Europe men, we don't even have a toilet paper in colleges.
@@bladyops9900 They're quite expensive though. Even for just the smallest pieces you have to pay $30 or more.
Love the gnat crawling on the speaker.
"What do you think this is?"
Jokes on you, I read the title.
Awesome Idea mate! wow! That LEDs with copper wire just blew my mind
Gud build ....
Please consider making a video for indoor 5.1 surround sound system which is wireless.
Only power input for the satellite speakers.
Actually, yeah! I'd love to see that.
I see a lot of people complaining about him using a 3D printer, but realistically the base can be done with plenty of materials. Wood or clay would both be good non-conductive options, but you need a lot more dexterity and skill to do that. He's simply showing the easiest way.
Honestly with 3D printers being ~$200 (~$800 for less maintenance heavy ones), they aren't a bad thing to have if you're even remotely interested in small neat projects like this. You can also find dozens of 3D printing services online that can print the parts for you out of a myriad of materials. You could get it printed in resin to come out completely clean right away if you want, but it'll be more expensive and more prone to craacking if dropped or if too much pressure is applied during assembly.
What about syncing the LEDs with the music 🎶
Yeah, a different project though, and with multiple colour changing RGB LEDS. This could be an idea for another portable boombox, this time maybe a 2.1 speaker system so it has a decent sub.
Don't get too far, or the big companies will turn it into a gaming product because of the RGB
Yeah, some gentle effect, like a breath
Thought about this, it would probably be possible to isolate the sound output with a few components and affect the voltage regulator for the LEDs a bit. Add a small capacitor to the LEDs and it would probably flicker smoothly to the bass of the sound.
@@josasp that would require more components that would take up more space, affecting the general feel of this one. Maybe a more modern design would allow for all of the things you need without ruining the apeal
That would make a really kool design for a smart speaker/assistant.
After saying "3D Print" I stopped believing it's cheap to make. 😂
My local public library has a 3d printer and the cost to print is just the cost of material, which isn't much.
@@RagPunker This is good info, I never would have though to go to a library for this.
@ im sorry it made sense until you somehow turned it into classism
@@user-rs2gv4vk1g If I ever get a 3D printer, I'll print a comeback ;) until then thank you for your positive attitude and positive suggestion.
Wow, now that is a real piece of art. Not just a speaker!
That bug on the speaker tho
I saw that too lol
