@@joejoechannel2356 Liza's voice as Alexandra Trese is her speaking from the "chest and diaphragm voice". It's a different approach and method when say she speaks from her "head voice" It's done that way to avoid her voice from too far strained.

Both English and Tagalog dub are good...I'd watch them both, but in my opinion, the Tagalog one has deep words that really gives me goosebumps.

That's the problem for me cos I don't really understand Tagalog deep words... When I watched the trailer I felt like I could understand the English version more than the Tagalog version.... Nevertheless I will still watch this in Tagalog with English subtitles hahaha just incase I come across those Tagalog words that I don't know the meaning.... At least the English subtitles will help to clarify what it means.... So excited for this!!!!
So it's having a two version 1 for Tagalog and it's shay for English for the international viewers
@@notme6753 I get it, a lot of millennials and Gen Z don't know deeper Tagalog words cause they aren't being used that often. You'll only really know them if your family uses it or you majored a Filipino course. I have trouble with some deeper Tagalog words too but the Tagalog dub feels more authentic to me. But I'll still watch the English dub cause I like the cast and their voices.
It's the same show, I guess... You just need to change the audio, either Filipino or English...
One thing the publisher messed up is they hired liza as VA for Trese, imagine Trese being remembered cuz liza voiced her, not being remembered as Trese one of the 1st anime adaptation from PH

I don't hate Liza, however they could've pick better VA and not base the cast through popularity, as I said Trese will be remembered as being Voiced by Liza, rather than "Trese" the MC of the series
They should have given it to Glaiza de Castro.
I admire both women that they chose to voice Alexandra Trese and most especially the fact that they both have Filipino-blood in their veins. Excited for this and to hear Shay and Liza bring the character into life

@@Paradisteppe - Artists and people in these industries have limited option to reject a "profitable" project. Usually, it's the managers and/or handlers who accepted projects, do paper-works behind the scenes. It will then be relayed to artists for contract signing.

I think it's partly because Tagalog/Filipino is not Liza's first language.
Shay literally killed it. On English dub you can feel that it's a badass character. However, to Liza's delivery it's not because Filipino is not her first language but it is her way of delivering the lines. I know she did her best and I hope she can flourish from this.
I'm having goosebumps all over me. I'm so excited for Trese. And I'm so excited for Shay and Liza voicing Trese. Can't wait to finally see it on June 11 😎

Both Trese voice actors are amazing but can we appreciate Shay Mitchell. She's from the tv series "Pretty Little Liars", the Netflix series "You", she's also featured in some videos by viners & youtubers. Overall I think Shay and Liza did their best and the best we can do is support ALL of them as well as the people who participated in this project.

Original Trese is Spiritual Detective not a Fairy Tail Warrior. If u want Japanese version then stick to it, they have very different tone of voice than Tagalog. I like Tagalog and I'm Filipino so we did watched it in Tagalog, nice to hear some Tagalog words that we hardly use.

I’m so excited for this. I myself am not Filipino but growing up in Hawai‘i, I’ve formed a strong bond with the Filipino culture living in a community where they have such a strong presence. I’ve went to school with, worked with, and formed strong ties with a lot of Pinoy’s that have become like family to me. I even told some of my friends and they share my excitement.
Aside from the the all star Filipino cast that will be voicing the character, I’m really interested in how they will portray the Babaylan. I’ve been studying spirituality from around the world but especially in Indigenous “American”, Pasifika, African, and Asian, cultures. Being mixed indigenous, Pasifika, and African decent myself, I think it’s so important to study the world and different cultures to create this bridge of understanding, respect, and empathy towards other. Again, I’m so excited for this!!

Shay's voice sounded much better, her voice projection/acting fits the character. Liza would have been a good fit if she spoke in English, you can tell by her accent when speaking Filipino.

I'm really glad Filipino folklore will now have a spotlight in the global media. I know for some Filipinos, our supernatural creatures are cringey but it is part of our culture. Super excited about this animated series, definitely going to watch the Tagalog one for a more natural feel.

The art, the cast, the storyline are all beautiful. Filipino myths are incredible and I’m so excited to see them be shown in this show. I just started the series and so far it’s amazing.

We have Jay Oliva in charge of the show. There's 2 good things about this:
1. He's Filipino American, which will really make this feel more real.
2. He's worked as a storyboard artist and/or director on various action shows and movies. Among those include Jackie Chan Adventures, The Batman, Spectacular Spiderman, Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Young Justice, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and more.
This will be great.

Liza is great but I just hoped that they hired a pure pinoy for Alexandra to sound more native talaga. Liza still has the accent of a foreigner who speaks tagalog. And also, her way of delivering the script is leaning more towards interpretative reading instead of acting, sana kumuha nlg sila ng legit na voice actor para mas maganda yung quality sa ating mismong lengwahe.
No offense pero sobrang natural panoorin at pakinggan ang Japanese tsaka English Dub as I watched the series 3 times in 3 languages. The Tagalog one was a bit forced, a bit unnatural.

First of all, I am so proud and so happy to watch Trese After Dark, the interview. However, what I’m missing is the story behind the music. When I watched the first episode of this series, the very first thing I noticed was the tribal music remix that went with the visually stunning intro. It was very new to my ears and wanted to learn more about it. I also feel that we need to give more credit and appreciation especially when it is taken from somewhere very raw and deeply culturally rooted. I was kind of hoping for a discussion about it.

Gonna watch the series twice in english and filipino when it's released. Netflix needs to make more filipino films and animated series
That's why we need to encourage everyone to subscribe to Netflix to just watch this series. Do not watch it anywhere else even if you can. Netflix is a business so they need to earn. They will be encouraged to produce more seasons if they get more subscribers.
Trese is great as is, huge congrats and appreciation to the team. Let's just remind the mainstream media that we don't always need the celebrity element for us to like it. If there will be next seasons, please train harder our VA.

Liza is supposed to be acting as the next Darna in the Philippines but it did not happen due to some injuries from the past action teleseries she was in. I am glad that she was cast as the voice of Trese it is perfect for her.

@@jamyy8122 you have first to pull the numbers. Netflix is one of the most ruthless business out there. So many good shows never been renewed despite having huge fanbase. To be transform into live action you have to be EXTREMELY successufull and worldwide first knowing this is an anime not TV show or a movie so it is already a niche in their bracket of offers imo.

I've read the comics and i always imagined that Trese spoke in a kind of monotone voice like how Detective Joe Friday from Dragnet spoke. I'm probably aging myself with that, LOL!
I imagined her voice to be similar to Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell 1995. Also, in the comics, how her dialogue is written, she is matter of fact and straight-forward.

Trese sounds like raven from teen titans with the same brooding tone but no raspiness in her voice compared to Tara strong’s raven,her character design reminds me of mikasa from AOT and hellish blizzard from one punch man

already watched all episodes and im not dissapointed. its gory, its raw and it portays our rich mythology. im not that much of a fan of the artstyle like the dc/marvel type of animation but once you get over it, its a great series to watch.

Those with negative approach have bets of their own Idol, ( sorry for you Madam e, your bet had not been selected ) to portray on such significant role. So unfortunate for them, the producers have all the unquestionable right to cast whomever they want. Showbiz is business. Would you dare casting anybody and rolled up their show in shambles? Such feasibility is not in their minds. So they preferred Liza for the role, knowing that she is so very popular. Not only that stature, she is undeniably beautiful, smart and intelligent, correspondingly lots of intelligent fans everywhere. Presumably, the producer had this in mind, casting Liza mindful of her numerous intelligent avid fans, ensuring throng of people would watch their show. Ok. Good Day to all of us. Happy viewing.

When Liza was narrating Trese she speaks English so fluent with that soft and sexy voice. Wow..and was able to learned and speak tagalog fluently too.. now dubbing ?? This is a person that proves to us that when we put our heart on anything we can do it... very impressive ka Liza..hanga kami sa iyo...

Being a Filipino with babaylan ancestors is really interesting. And I get to watch this in 2021 and be able to see how comics and Netflix portrays it and like you kinda want to compare to how your grandma's and grandpa's tell the stories. I'm excited to watch this.

Love it😊Thank you Netflix. I have watch episode 1 in Tagalog at ang ganda hindi ko naisip na si Liza yon kasi hindi nya kaboses. At ang lalim ng Filipino na gamit sa pangungusap.
"Kung mararapatin mo makakaalis kana", yon ang gusto kong sabihin sa mga nega ang dami nila naglilipana. Ako'y nalulugod at si Liza'y pinaunlakan ang Netflix. Kinalulugdan kong panoorin na ginagampanan ni Trese ang kanyang papel rito sa munting palabas kung ito ma'y matatawag, isa syang likha ng sining na walang katumbas.
Okay, tbh, I was kinda apprehensive with Liza's dub during the first trailers, but her voice dub snippets in this are pretty cool. Alright, Liza! 💪
The truth is, the tagalog voice, it's giving me goosebumps.
I love how Liza has grown so much!! So excited!! As for Shay, who is also half-Filipina!! It shows that she's proud too!
Liza's voice over sounded like she's a robot. It's too stiff and you can really tell that she's reading the script without any emotions or dramatizations. It sounds so plain and awkward and cringe-y.
Sayang lang din kasi there are a lot of professionals out there who can do the job properly because they are trained and yet, they still chose a celebrity with a pretty face, but has only a little knowledge about anime and voice over skills. It's a bit unfair for the professional VAs out there. As a Filipino, I am proud of her, but she could've been casted to another series that doesn't need a voice over because clearly, professional voice actors are more deserving of her spot.
True, I am very Disappointed too, The animation and story is good but Liza's voice didn't give justice to the Character, like ng nag aaway na ang hinhin at slang nyang magsalita😫
