I'll confirm it is the defrost HEATER (that long u shaped coil) that finally fixed the problem for me. not the defrost sensor and certainly not the control board. After spending $500 on a bad diagnosis, and research into this on YT, I got a third tech to order me & install the defrost heater. It's been 5 days and the issue is solved, finally. The tech just cut the coil/supports with tin snips - just like Random dude did above - to get the old one out. New one went in easily. 20-30 minute fix by a qualified tech. Do not let some hack tell you the compressor ($800) or control board ($330 part) needs replacing. It's a $40-$50 part.
Thanks for the videos! I went with the more involved 5300 part and I was able to follow right along. But, worked for a day and the code came back so I think I need the sensor...all good, now I know how to fix it fast!
What was the model number of the refrigerator - I just heard you talk about the replacement parts and that it was a Kenmore Elite? I have the same issue with a 79572053... 🤔
I think humidity for sure can impact your freezer, especially if the seal around the door goes bad or has something creating an opening. What I ultimately think led to this part going bad was that something like a bag got in-between the seal and the door and allowed warm air to draft in so the freezer was running more and the moisture was freezing up the coils which led to the heater sheath shorting out. Just my assumption at this point.
I have an LG refrigerator and keep getting an error code. We took it apart and there was no frost what so ever but I am still getting error code what else could it be?
My fridge is just over a year old & the error code Dh f appeared. I changed the Heater Sheath & a day later the error code appeared again. Any other suggestions you have is greatly appreciated on what else could be the problem.
Hi there. Thank you for this. Can you tell me how much was the part and where to purchase it from. We have the same issue with our 15 month old fridge. 😐 Disappointed as heck!
@@RandomReviewsHowTos Thank you. We ordered our piece and will replace it per your instructions. I'll come back with updates of how we did. Thanks again
We fixed it today. Freezer and fridge cold. Let’s see if this fix holds. Update: 24 h later the error came back :( My husband said that when he plugged-in the fridge there was a snap. Like the fuse burned
don’t think that a year later it matters mate… but the first sensor you had would have worked , you simply splice in your coil into that blue wire … just remember to heat shrink and protect those spliced connections ..

Glad you got this fixed, sorry it cost so much $. - Random dude.

Mine came back too. Did the sensor fix it?

Do you think outside weather can affect these fridges? Put my fridge outside and return this error

The tray usually is the fan so it will aid in evaporation.

What's the code?
My mom's refrigerator is not cooling properly and it's giving me a code 6 which Google says is the sensor
How was the repair? Is it still working correctly now?

Ugh. I'm sorry the error didn't go away. I'm no expert, but this is what worked for us. You might have to call a tech 😥
Thanks for your response. We did make that service call & the problem was the circuit board which was not covered under warranty. Thanks again
Hi Nalani, how did you fix your fridge?
So how long term was the repair? Thanks for your videos.
Maybe an hour and a half at most
How long after the repair did your refrigerator continue to function?
Could you share the model number of your fridge if you still have it? Thanks
Kenmore Model 795.70333.410

I got it locally, a place called V&V Appliance in Youngstown, Ohio. $50ish if my memory serves me correctly. Maybe less.

@@cristinac9604 good luck! I've had no issues since doing this!

Mine freeze so bad the panel wont come off.

So has this fixed the issue of the error code?
This worked. Going on 2 weeks and everything is nice and cold. No code. Recommend this as the fix.
