@@yorshvences341 No, this didn't fix my issue. I ended up having to replace the circuit board in the back of my fridge, got the part on ebay for $45. Not sure if my defrost was having issues or not but once I replaced the board it worked.
@@Red-fr3ix same thing happened to where I used to work at .. I kept telling the boss it’s possible a board failure and he was ignorant to blow me away saying no no no and completely shut me down as well. I'll confirm it is the defrost HEATER (that long u shaped coil) that needs to be replaced - not the defrost sensor and certainly not the control board. After spending $500 on a bad diagnosis, and research into this on YT, I got a third tech to order me the defrost heater. It's been 5 days and the issue is solved, finally.
Great video. I have the same issue with my LG refrigerator and fixing it right now following your video. What you did'nt mention was that there is a colection of water resulting from the ice melting that you need to remove.
Didn’t work out for me either, even after when replacing the sensor. I also gave the fridge a deep clean, and almost burnt down the house from the socket (in which my heat gun was plugged into) having an electrical fire 😩. That was fun replacing the outlet with fridge parts everywhere and food melting. Update: the error message popped up once but then hasn’t come back on for the last 3 weeks (was popping up every 3 hours before) - just when I was about to order a new fridge. Let’s see if it lasts!
Great video but watch the whole video. The part # depends on the year and model of Kenmore Elite. My 2007 model has THIS part (separate from the heating coil), so suggest pulling off the back and looking at the wiring before ordering the part.
The refrigerator and freezer have separate condensers so you can put the fresh food to 35-37 as I think 40 might be a bit warm. I think LG has some freezer issues as mine has been making a fan rubbing noise since it was 4-6 months old. When we were gone for a few days cam home to error FF and no fan rubbing noise. The tech that came out in jan of 2019 could not find or figure out where it was coming from. Since it has been off waiting for the apt. of the tech all the ice has melted and working fine now. We still have another week to wait for the tech to come out as it will be 3 weeks waiting. Maybe that is also another reason Sears is on the way out even though they have all these separate companies or just like everyone you cannot find any good workers these days and everyone is short handed.
Thank you for your video! now I wanna change it on my own. could you please guide me on how can i know the model of deforest sensor? (GBB59PZGFS) thank you in advance
I pulled the panel from the top middle a bit, that exposed them, and then it's a basic wire plug with a little release clip. Push the release in and it will come right out.
Our LG fridge/freezer has been an issue from the beginning. I know there is a known issue that allows frost to build up. Usually when it gets close to being problematic the fan that moves cold air from freezer to the fridge will make noise due to the ice. That's always my signal that it is time to empty out the entire thing to defrost any buildup. Usually has to be done every 3-6 months. It's a real pain.
@@RandomReviewsHowTos thank you for information. We are watching it closely untill the part gets here. Yes, so far ours is just climbing a few degrees. But I unplug n plug it back in when I notice the code showing up... If I didn't do that I'm not sure how high the temp might climb.🥴
@@ginaprice2370 We did the same thing. Most times it would reset the error, but it would come back on within a few hours. If you are completely frozen over in the freezer, you can defrost it which seemed to help maintain some cold. Good luck! I hope you get it fixed.
Having same problem with a kenmore elite fridge. Took it all apart let it thaw for a day. Couldn’t find parts so I put it back together. Cooling great ( for 2 hours). Code is back. Did you find the right hookup anywhere. I’m about to give up and buy a new Samsung fridge at Lowe’s
Update... er dh code came back, everything frozen again. Found a new part, replaced entire defroster / heater sheath... video here ua-cam.com/video/Bw3yyZbLrFA/v-deo.html

Yes, look at this follow up video...the heater sheath needed replaced. $50ish with my labor. Not exactly simple to fix but works. I'm 2 months out and no errors. ua-cam.com/video/Bw3yyZbLrFA/v-deo.html hope this helps. My old school fridge in garage works like a gem. Compressor, no electronics, less is more in these things.
Just did this to my fridge, just made sure I ordered the correct part. So far it's working, it's been an hour. Thank you!
It takes 24 hours before it reappears if it didn’t fix the issue
Did you have any luck ??

Mine drained into back where I think a reservoir is. Never leaked on floor. Sorry about that.
I currently defrosting and replacing my heater coil and the thermistor. Thanks !
Taking it apart is what most folks like to see

I'm getting the same error code, took it apart and there was zero ice build up. Could it still be the sensor?

How did you determine the sensor was the problem? The first thing I would have checked is continuity through the defrost coil...
Process of elimination.
how did you get the bottom red/black plug disconnected the one to your left as you face the fridge ?

@@RandomReviewsHowTos thanks, I had to use some needle nose pliers and squeeze and pull (someone had been in there before and screwed it up)

See my reply below, it's the defrost HEATER that needs to be replaced. Cheap part, simple replacement by a qualified tech, not cheap service.
This is why you need to pull the model number in the fridge section BEFORE ordering parts.
Right parts, wrong issue.
did you read the resistance values on these two? for the temperature sensor and the coil itself?
I did not. I figured since it was the same model it should work as the last one did...until it didn't.
Does the frig still cool an work when you get that we er dh untill you can get one?
Ours did still work. It wasn't as cold as normal, however it wasn't too warm to start spoiling food.

Helpful video but unfortunately I watched 80% ordered the part and then ran into the same issue you did and have just ordered the 5300JK1005Z.
Yea, it's a pain because it really could be either or. I'm sorry about that. Hope the other part works.
Did the error code come back on for you?
From this fix, yes, however I finally replaced the defrost sheath and it has been gone: ua-cam.com/video/Bw3yyZbLrFA/v-deo.html

I did fix it myself. Less than 20 bucks. Defrost sensor inside the freezer. Been working great now 🤞
