  • Part 4.1
The underpainting is completely dry and I'm ready to begin developing the modeling and detail layer. From this point on I'll be painting over the entire canvas again in order to refine and resolve the painting.
I'll start with the sky, which is in need of replacement. I want to go for something brighter and more saturated, and so I will repaint the sky, covering everything I had done in the underpainting. My hope in doing this is that it will show you that it's alright to change your mind and make decisions, even drastic ones, along the way that can help the overall effectiveness of your finished paintings.
This portion of the painting process involves a great deal of meticulous (and tedious) brushwork. Since it isn't absolutely necessary to see every single brush stroke to get the idea of how to do it, I have edited the videos down to the essential techniques I use to apply the paint. In this way you will be able to follow along at your own pace, having seen the method of application in a video that avoids being unnecessarily long and boring.

Thanks I've been quite tied up with other things but I had always intended to finish this. It's important to maintain enthusiasm and motivation to finish the projects we start.

Most of the second part has been uploaded now. I'm sorry it's taken me so long. The whole thing will be up soon enough.
