Looks like the Chines got there. They left piles of hand washed cobble like that almost every place they worked. Cool Vid When working Gumbo Clay like that I find putting 3 or 4 Thumb size rocks in the pan panning sure helps breaks the gick up.

Going to be honest here.. as a kid I grew up in Colorado and my dad loved camping deep in the Colorado rockies, and dad loved panning for gold. I got used to the ice cold water and would go under using reeds for air and tweezers to just pick the gold flakes out of the water. It wasn't hard to get a gram in a couple hours or less

Looks good klesh! We did very well out there on memorial weekend, and now the water is running much faster! Found my first picker there too and posted it on FGIC. The whole area was under a glacier and that's how all the deposits formed, also why all the clay is there. Great video!

The creek that i had on my property had clay , i used an old petrol driven cement mixer with a wire basket i made up, it worked exelent after floods i would retreave it from farther down the creek clean out the engine and start again, oh happy days never bothered with flour gold just left it in the mixer.

*YOU ARE A GOOD TEACHER!* Yes, my rock has GOLD IN IT after shining a light onto the surface! You can see smaller than popyseed size flake gold. Has the rust/quartz streaks. Randomly picked the rock up cause I thought it looked nice an of value. After all maybe Northern, New Jersey does have gold you just have to crush rock pieces!

LOL Prospecting Cache Creek... we have a casino out here called Cache Creek... the image in my head right now of you prospecting inside the casino is hilarious!
You should see if you can get a polarized lens cover for your camera, it'd really help knock down a lot of the glare in the bright sun and make everything look way more colorful.. just remember to take it off when it's low light or you won't see anything.

Nice gold. Found my first legitimate picker yesterday. Nice feeling. Had to puddle a lot of clay with only a couple of pools of water. A couple of rocks in the classifier will help break the clay down. Panning in a tub of muddy water makes that crystal clear water look good.

I spent 3 summers in Cache Creek.
Dredge stopped up top...when WW2 started. The cobble line is faint decades later, but you can get untouched rocks. Larger pieces 3-10 grams, but still plenty of flour gold/wire. We dredged the river, never got more than 8 grams per hour. The $$ is digging gems in Colorado. Gold is hobby only.

I've been to Cache Creek many times when I lived in Colorado. Dealing with all that clay will get you gold but the reddish orange material is highly mineralized and that's where you will find your gold.
That guy was just trying to help you out, there is gold everywhere at Cache Creek. There's just better places to find better gold there.
