I wish I had these videos 15 years ago, what a resource your channel is. Thanks!
Thank you! I felt there was an opportunity for better science with RC crawlers so I’m trying to offer it. I’ve got a lot more to come.
Thanks for explaining the “why” with examples
You bet. Many concepts need examples because they are so often misunderstood. I’m trying to make it clear and simple. Oil weight selection is up next - that will be tricky.
Yes. I learned that the hard way. I got tired of dropping a wheel and getting bound up. I learned to let the 4th wheel float and trust the other 3 that are still crawling along. It looks a lot cooler anyway🤣
Right on
I heard about too much articulation when I was first starting out, but just HAD to try it anyway 😂. Now I’m back to shorter shocks and am not breaking axles like before. Thanks for your excellent videos!
Yes, sometimes we have to learn things the hard way
You can use high articulation but you need pen springs on your shock shafts.
It's a fine balance. With pen springs on the inner shock shaft in the front, I use lighter oil so I stay tucked in on the incline, soon as my wheels come off the ground, it drops and reaches for ground.
The rear using 2 stiff pen springs in each shock.
With the shock putter springs on.
60 weight oil.
Works unreal..
I’m working on a few videos about negative springs and oil weight. You consider 60 weight a lighter wt?
Toy car mechanics seem fun, also nice Stallone shirt.
Thanks! Technically, it's John Rambo's mug shot.
👍🏻👍🏻
Yes def can have too much.
Are there occasions were it works.
Like a bunch of rocks but on tech lines no you want it tighter but like to use limiting bands.
Especially in front, and let rear fall to traction point if needed but front keep the chassis and the rear with it! Where the weight is.
I love your scientific method though!!!
Thanks!
Can you enable captioning for this video please? Thank you!
Absolutely! I thought they were by default. I will go back and fix. Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks! I use it too.
@@ciborg86 Please let me know if you see any other videos that are missing it and I will add them.
please show the viewers what the minimal degree of articulation is usuable
personally, I find using 60 degrees on extreme sidehilling will have negative effects
Side hilling is a great topic and I expect to do a video on it at some point. The main factors are low CG, tire/insert stiffness, whether or not you run negative springs and track width - roughly in that order.
Sure you can, just like you can have to much power, to much money and a woman to pretty.
I'm just clowning, it's an interesting concept tho.
Not gonna watch. Answer is yes
But how much is too much ? 🤣
You’ll know when you start breaking axles
