Her death devastated me, but she finally got closure on what she was running from, and she went out with a bang. I don't think we could've asked for a better fitting end to her arc.
My biggest fear is dying, so this was very special to watch. I particularly loved how the episode itself is a closed loop ⭕️ we start the episode with Lilia dying and end the episode with her about to start her life again. ….. phenomenal writing, can’t recall a single episode of TV from the recent times that’s made me feel so much
I didn't see anyone leave this comment yet so sorry if it's already here somewhere but there were zero flashbacks in this episode. Lilia was experiencing time in the exact order we watched so we were in her shoes for this episode. It is structured similarly to Memento like you said but in actuality we are watching Lilia's real time perspective of these events. Cool as all hell. Best episode by far.
Lots of people seem to take issue with William/Billy saying that Wanda is not his mom, he has a mom. Think about it from this kid’s perspective. He doesn’t remember anything prior to the accident three years ago. He doesn’t remember being Billy Maximoff. The only reason he thinks he’s Billy Maximoff is circumstantial at this point. He has no memory of Wanda, so she’s just an abstract in his mind. He spent the last three years being scared and feeling alone while being cared for by the Kaplans. I’m not really sure why people have such a hard time understanding why he would not have an emotional connection with Wanda at this point.
@@jcs1025 Because they love Wanda and know how much she loved her boys. Even though he can't remember, the audience remembers and they're protective of Wanda. But I also agree with you. There's definitely a lot of layers. This storyline, in my view, also represents the complex feelings adopted children grapple with; why didn't my parents want me vs the parent who may have wanted them but couldn't keep them due to dire circumstances. This series is a powerhouse of storytelling. Thanks for your post.
I think you completely hit the point. As far as he's concerned, he's William Kaplan, but he has no memories before the accident 3 years ago. He knows there's something different about him, something that drove him to investigate, but everything he knows, everything his rational mind would have been telling him is that he is William Kaplan, that those are his parents who love him and whom he loves, but that he lost his memory in an accident 3 years ago. Why would he even think of the possibility that he's someone else, until recent investigations and information led him to put that together. And I don't think he's even fully convinced of it. And as you said, he has no memory of Wanda. As far as he's concerned, he's never met her, she's just the Avenger who went crazy and then disappeared - or whatever the media says about her. And even if he did remember her, he was her son for what, about a week?? He's been the son of the Kaplans for 3 years as he remembers it, and spent those 3 years believing he was their son since birth, despite not remembering that.
I’ll add something in addition to this, you can also view this kinda like an adoptee not wanting a relationship with their bio parent. Additionally even with those memories Wanda was a mom to him for all of like 3 days. No doubt she loved them immensely like I seriously can’t express that enough but from his perspective it makes sense as much as it is devastating that he wouldn’t have that deep emotional connection that she did.
If billy knew what wanda did he'd be mad af. All wanda did was traumatize her variant's kids 😭😭 she wanted to steal them. Also, wanda was his mom for like 5 days or something lol he was with the Kaplans for 3 years, thats his family.
He literally has little to no memory about the Hex except for Tommy, that's why he said she's not his mom. They'll get a lot closer as the story goes on
That was Wanda while affected by the Darkhold. It took what she wanted the most and made her go over the edge. What Wanda, the real Wanda did, was try to be fair with the common people, at the expense of what she loved the most.
ppl keep sayign "why is there a subway down there " and i distictly remember ms.hart talking about how westview had a planned metro or a transportation thing in episode 2
Honestly when you think about it Rio was technically upfront with everyone from the start of her summon to the road, she did say she wasnt a Green witch but Thee Green Witch
This episode will initially confuse us but in the end we will be made to understand what is happening, that's what makes me like this episode, the writing of the story is truly a masterpiece
Rumor and evidence point to the witches road being a hex summoned by Billy i can’t wait until next week i also like how the dots connected this episode
The last episode had Evan Peters, then this ep has his song from his introduction into the MCU bc Billy is looking for Tommy. The speedster. Who takes after his uncle. Quicksilver. perfection. 😚👌💋
I thoroughly enjoyed the episode . Myles, you mentioned you didn't like episode 1me on the other hand, liked the direction they went. Episode 7 made me appreciate 1 and 2. It was full circle. Hope they stick the landing.
I agree that the Salem Seven were a bit of a let-down, but I guess that only means that they were another misdirection. They were never the true danger on the Road. The main candidate for that danger is Death herself. I assume the next episode will be Billy's trial, the trial for the "green witch". It's unlikely to be a test of gardening, though. I think he's going to have to learn to master his temper and avoid, uh, leakage of his blue energies. But it's gotta be more than that. We still have the subplots involving Agatha's son and how Jen's power got blocked. We need to tackle those as well. Which means the final episode is gonna involve the end of the Road and the awarding of prizes to the survivors, if any. Presumably, Agatha will get her "purple" back, and Billy will get at least some decent intel on Tommy's status. But I think the final episode will mainly involve Rio. We might see some back history from Rio's point of view, and see her collect her bodies. And there will have to be some sort of big fight scene or big smooch scene or both between Agatha and Rio. Goodness knows where Jen and Billy will be during all that, or if the coven has any chance of continuing after the final episode.
Just think how much more smoothly the whole Infinity War saga would have gone if The Ancient One had died in the 15th century and Lilia's Maestra and coven had been in charge of the magical protection of Earth (instead of Kamar "shush! we know best" Taj) THANOS: "I have gathered almost all the stones! I shall use them and balance the Universe!!" MAESTRA: "You will balance with what? How will you balance if half of you is missing? Stop being so foolish and look for your destination instead of dreaming about the journey" If he didn't stop being dumb, she'd hit him with a spoon or something. Never under-estimate the abilities of a Sicilian Nonna.
What an episode!! Like I said. “This Episode Is Heat!” 🔥💀
The Tower gravity flip. Epic.
I suddenly realized i dont want flashy marvel fights full of cgi anymore, I want This.

RIP to the realest witch out there 🤧
Lilia’s death gave me ptsd from Gwen Stacy’s death in The Amazing Spider Man

When Rio was summoned, Sharon had just died, when Agatha asked how Rio was there, Rio said she "was in the neighborhood"
Or Sharon wasn't actually in the road but it was Rio all along, in the comics Rio can shape shift.
She also said "heard you guys were having a party" which she probably heard from Sharon

My favorite scene is when Lilia realizes she is the traveler and puts all the cards down and they match the scenes 🙏
song was perfect, i was already crying & when song hit i broke knowing its meaning, i was, raised on that song & style of music
Please give me smartly written episodes with heart every single time. Easily the best episode thus far and Patti LuPone will forever be a LEGEND ❤
It was my favorite episode so far. The way it was structured, the writing, the acting, costunes, and visual effects. Chef kiss

Definitely my FAVORITE episode.
I think this episode is so satisfying because it was letting the other shoe drop as often as it was dropping a sword.
Lilia died shooting, what an impeccable and moving performance, 😭

Yeah… because the road is most likely not real. Its a hex Billy made. A sloppy one that fits his personality/desires at that
Honestly when you think about it Rio was technically upfront with everyone from the start of her summon to the road, she did say she wasnt a Green witch but Thee Green Witch
Episode 4 Rio told us as much that Agatha did walk the road & Rio got the bodies seeing shes DEATH itself
This episode will initially confuse us but in the end we will be made to understand what is happening, that's what makes me like this episode, the writing of the story is truly a masterpiece

I hope the Green Witch archetype gets her trial as well, it's gotta be the flashback episode for Agatha and Rio as well
I think Rio collected Sharon, she crawled out from where Sharon was buried
Thank you for recalling Memento
