I mean, there’s a reason Pattinson is now my favorite live-action Batman. I’m extra excited for The Batman 2. Granted, if the sequel makes more money, they’ll need to get to work on part 3, fast. Pattinson will be 40 when part 2 comes out in 2026. He’ll be a hell of lot older than Bale was in The Dark Knight Rises once they start filming part 3.
I love this Batman universe. I thought - after Nolan - all we’d get was CGI garbage. But Matt Reeves and Colin Farrell have built something special here.

Exactly, the way the writers wrote BTAS , The storytelling how we had episodes for each of the rouge gallery I was also captivated by the penguin each episode you just get hooked . Great show
I agree. The DCU would focus on more of the fantastical elements of DC, while The Batman universe would focus on more of the grounded elements. With that said, I'm more excited about the latter.
I never considered the possibility that they weren’t going to try to make a trilogy, provided the films make money. Batman is a very flexible character. There should always be an auteur director doing his “take” on Batman, independent of whatever kind of shared universe they are doing. Batman works best when their aren’t fantastical or supernatural elements. The minute you introduce a flying man in tights, Batman becomes less cool. That’s not to say that I don’t like “super hero” Batman. But I’d prefer to keep that version separate from “vigilante” Batman and “detective” Batman. It’s okay in comics, but on film I want a grounded version of the character and a separate version that can interact with the JLA. It doesn’t have to be two separate film franchises. You could do a big, super hero spectacle Batman on film and do a big budget HBO/MAX series focusing on a street level Batman. Blue and Gray Batman in the DCU. Black and gray suit Batman on TV. Every 7-10 years let a good create give us their vision for the character, either in the form of a film trilogy or TV series.

Batman should primarily be a series, set in a half-historical-noir-half-sci-fi-futuristic gotham. no justice league, have fantastical bad guys, and “street level” realistic stuff at the same time. The grounded stuff in Battinson is good because it’s well written, not because it’s grounded. Batman Arkham City proves that you can do TAS Batman in a live acton gritty style, and not compromise on the writing quality, nor Batman’s rogues gallery or genre.

It's typical kiddie fair with an edgy 'adult' veneer. If they were going to go there, they should've gone full throttle with a hard 'R' rating and better writing. Making this stuff more 'grounded' makes the fantastical stuff that happens in the movie just seem kind of stupid and out of place. Nolan's world was much more balanced in that regard. I feel like his movies are a bit overrated and over stuffed, but still way better than The Batman. It's definitely no 'masterpiece' as people like to parrot. It took me two sitting to finish it .. I was with it for the first half hour or so and then the 2nd act I was drifting and thinking about other things. By the end I didn't care a damn thing for any of the characters or anything that was happening. Zoe Kravitz is hot as hell though and I liked her theme music .. Reminded me of a John Barry 'Bond' theme or something. Nice looking movie, lame villain, lame action, bad pacing. I hear the Penguin show is better, but I'm just not interested enough in Matt Reeve's world to even watch it. Lame crime dramas and police procedurals shouldn't need to use properties like superheroes to gain viewership.
I never understood why tv show characters aren't made movie actors for that same character? You have a following with the TV series, like Flash, why wouldn't you use the same actor? If they ever made Green Arrow, they still have Deathstroke, & wanna see more of Slade Wilson, but to me he will always be Crixus. My only guess is bc the TV shows went kinda too extreme with their shows with timelines & etc.
I just wish the movie was better. I really think the handling of the Riddler was pretty weak. Started off alright, but once he became just a butt hurt orphan, my opinion of the movie started to plummet. I wasn't the biggest fan of Catwoman either but I didn't have a problem with her. I just still find her to be the least interesting of the Batman's rogue gallery, in terms of the women at least. I don't know if the penguin could have been handled any better than what he was. Especially now since the show has came and gone. It should probably stay gone too and just leave the rest of it to the movies. I don't think it's going to be better than what it is now. If you want to do other villains, that's fine, but his story should just continue on in the movies.
Warner Brothers is stupid. They are just sitting on a gold mine. A 5-8 season HBO Batman show would be the biggest show of all time. Team that up with a well casted Harry Potter and you have the two biggest shows ever
The Penguin was definitely the best show we've seen in a while. Amazing what happens when you focus on quality instead of THE MESSAGE!
Would be hilarious if we got a Dark Knight level cultural event movie out of this trilogy.
The Penguin is a well written show. The character introductions and development is phenomenal. Thats how its done.

Penguin was fantastic....10/10.....I was already hyped for The Batman 2 but now my excitement is thru the roof.

I still think Shogun is slightly better than the Penguin but it’s close, the Gentlemen and Invincible were also great.

The Batman is underrated and is a better adaptation than the Dark Knight Trilogy imho. I can't wait for more!
How is it underrated? The Batman is very popular, and a lot of people love it. Hell, I think it's one of the best comic book films ever made!

The Batman 2 will beat out the dark knight. Guaranteed. Way better depiction of Gotham, and more room to flesh out villains like penguin.
