Joe and Goggins I don't know if you read these but I just wanted to say thank you. I lost 55kg (121lbs) quit an alcohol addiction (was on 20 cans of cider a day) and recovered from depression and suicidal thoughts and it's all because of men like you. I sorted my shit out through nothing but determination, taking a long hard look at myself and realising that I was making huge mistakes and I needed to sort it out, I've listened to people like Goggins and CT Fletcher and realised that if I wanted to make changes it was going to come down to taking responsibility and working my ass off. The change in my happiness and outlook on life happened so fast when it finally clicked that I was the one in control. Not only did I finally sort myself out I'm now a PT and Motivational Speaker trying to wake others up to the possibilities they have if they just start waking up and getting after it, day after day after day. Sometimes it gets through to people I know that people like you Joe and David sometimes draw criticism from people who can't face reality and it must get exhausting, so I just wanted to say please keep up the good work, you really are saving lives with your message, mine included. I know this us 4 yrs old but I just started following Goggins dude pulled me out of complete depression after a week of listening, I went thru an insane amount of trauma in my life, and recently I ended up not being able to get off the couch not leaving the house not even wanting to shower. No one could help I couldn't get out of this loop, one morning I found David Goggins n started calling myself a p*ssy etc instead of babying and feeling bad for myself. Still got a lot of work to do but I'm so much better back to functioning and working out 6 days a week. Praise God and Thank You David
Goggins saved me from suicidal depression. I got out of my self pitying mind set and lost 30 pounds. Went from broke to 100K in assets in 3 years. The depression claws back from time to time, but the occasional booster shot of Goggins gets me back on the right track.
This guy is absolutely AMAZING! I shared him to my brother-in law, right before he went to Army Ranger School... and he listened to his book right before and he said that that’s all he thought about during it, when he’s thinking about quitting, he kept going thinking of things he said. I’m happy to announce, he made it through!
These 2 guys have had such a profound impact on my life over the past 5 or so years man. I'm down 56kg, finished my degree which I didn't believe I could ever finish, I used to be a fat lazy mofo with no motivation and even less discipline. I couldn't even walk 1km without having to pause to catch my breath, now I'm up at 3 am to get a 10km run in before hitting the gym before work, don't matter if its the middle of the winter, I'm fucking running. Thank you Joe for all the knowledge you bring to people through your podcast. I've learned so much through all of the conversations you've had with uncommon people. Just thank you man.
There was a motivational video for this podcast titled David Goggins motivational 3 it, it got taken down god I really wish I can listen to it again anyone know where I can find it?
If you forget, it's too easy for it to happen again. You know when you've truly forgiven someone when you can walk away from them without anger or guilt.
fuck that shit. It's been 3 months... How many runs have you went on since that day? Be honest with yourself. May this be a reminder to get after it again.
@Euro K. I listened to this Dec 7th 2018. Downloaded his book a day or two later. 20 years of no exercise, smoking, drinking and obesity from unhealthy processed foods and sugars ended. I was 235lbs and now 194lbs. Switched to a Whole Foods plant based nutrition. I’ve now completed 3 sprint triathlons, 4th next week. Over 100 swims, bikes and runs. Just came back now to listen again. I can’t thank Goggins enough. This man truly woke me up from 20 years of zombie-dom.
Been listening to Goggins everyday for 4 years, went from being overweight and working a desk job to a 185 lbs body builder, doing Murphy challenges every opportunity I have, working my own way through college to become an airline pilot and next year I sign with American Airlines. Man woke me up, when I started this journey the things he said seemed other worldly, now I’ve learned everything he said for myself. Seeing is believing, Respect the perspective.

No, he's the most miserable man on this earth who projects that misery onto other people. He hates humanity and hates himself. The only way he can escape his hate and depression is to run himself into the ground. Fact. You need to grow up
2 spine surgeries. Worked pt as a personal trainer. Mostly to help myself. 10 yrs on disability. Brutal. Got a physical therapist & Goggins audio book. Hiking miles with weight vest. At 59 going back to work full time.
What a beast. 22 year old with a whacked up PSOAS muscle and lower back pain. I need to work this shit out before hitting the pavement but I still get my walk in
"You cant have a future if you live in the past" David Thank You your openness and honesty is a kick in the butt, I have needed. It is good not to feel alone.
David Goggins's book needs to be distributed to every high school student. This man embodies pure mental toughness. One of the very few people I look up to.
T K Mikey Monsoor threw himself on a Grenade to save his friends. THATS mental toughness. Goggins would never had done that because he would not have been able to brag about it afterwards.
@@ALCRAN2010 No, the comment up above sounded similar to one I heard a while back, the comment came from Frank Mir in the lead up to his fight with Daniel Cormier in one of those UFC on Fox countdown shows
David Goggins is a legend. He has completely changed my mindset around from a total victim mentality to someone who's going to the gym 4x per week, and loving running (something I thought I'd never say). It was a tough year battling with insomnia, but exercising has been keeping my spirits up. Salute to you, David.
Can’t hurt me started me on my journey to controlling my behaviors, I went from 370 to 318 this morning in about 6 weeks, the days I don’t want to workout before work I look at myself in the mirror repeat “this is what we do…this is what we do now” thanks David Goggins
Beautiful! When we are comfortable getting ready for work, that's when we need to be uncomfortable and do a 10/20/30 minute workout or longer! And then again after work (depending on family commitments)
Pro tip: Never listen to a David Goggins podcast before bed, the motivation will not let you sleep Recently bought his book, also do not recommend reading that before bed: same results
Hey Goggins! I’m a black guy who has been following you for years! Read both of your books at least three times, both audio and print. Most mornings after my workouts either David Goggins or Jocko Willink is my search for UA-cam!👊🏽💪🏾🏋🏾♀️
The audio book does have him talking between chapters but another dude narrates it. Didn’t have the same punch at first but after a while you are so enthralled in the words that it don’t matter who’s reading it
The furthest I ever ran was about 6km. After watching 20 minutes of this video I put my shoes on and ran 13km. I didn’t know I could run that far. These kind of guys like David Goggins really makes you go after it.
Dude, I almost never ran over 1-1.5 miles. 3 days ago I did a 5k on the treadmill after a hard workout, I knew any excuses is not really my limitation, today I did a 4.5 miles, first 2.5 was hard but my body immediately bounced back and way back was much easier, now i know I'm ready for 6-12 miles #stayhard
btron1234 swear to god I ran the exact same distance over the summer after not running in years. 10.5miles listening to Goggins on JRE and Jim Rome podcast. Couldn’t feel my legs but felt so good about myself I went out and got wasted with the bros. Amazing feeling. Cheers all
@@EnergyFuture101 nothing like running, I've never felt such an intense physical shift in 1 workout session of anything, I got a 6.9 mile route in mind, just not sure if I should do it round trip 13.8 miles 😜
WOW. As someone who grew up with a severe stutter, listening to Goggin's perspective on life almost made me tear up. What he says is absolutely GOLDEN. After years and years of avoiding the "struggle" by simply not speaking at all, I have completely changed my perspective in the past few years. I started challenging myself to do public speaking, which led to winning a competition, giving a TEDx talk, and performing stand-up comedy in North America and Europe. It still feels surreal to me. I'm still at the beginning of my journey, and whenever I go through lows, I am going to re-listen to this entire podcast episode. This guy gets it. Thank you JRE for making me discover this gem of a human.
Guy just made me do 1000 push ups for the first time in my life. Never did that many push ups in one workout so I thought it will be hard but 1 hour 8 mins later, I was actually dissapointed, IT was easier than thought. 5.5/10 hard. Thank you David, I was putting on a pedistal 1000 push ups, thinking I cannot, but discovered more potential in me, was leaving a lot on a table. Guys, stay hard!
I used to be a hardcore athlete, played every sport, won international tournaments for Chinese martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, ran 20+ miles a week, worked construction 10 hours a day and would still have energy to hit BJJ after or run a quick 3 miles. Fell out of all of it over years of neglect, drugs, laziness, mental blockages and excuses. Got hooked smoking cigarettes and vaping. Started drinking more. Got to a point where I couldn’t go 5 minutes without getting some form, any form, of nicotine. Started listening to Goggins. I’m now 45 days off nicotine and back to working out intensely, even if it’s not every day. Goggins helped me cultivate my own “Goggins” and I’m excited to cultivate this new killer mentality that once was ordinary and common to me before. It feels like I’m relearning how to walk but I’ve needed it for so long. One day I’ll be like Boat Crew 2. Get after it. Stay hard. Edit: next month makes one year off nicotine and alcohol. My diet has changed tremendously. I train BJJ 6 days a week. I haven’t needed to listen to Goggins in months. I’m self-sufficient and have made extensive leaps in my career field: numerous raises, two promotions and a third coming soon. When I feel broken and get down on myself, I am always reminded of where I was a year ago. I was disgusting and exhausted. It’s never too late. Stop thinking and start doing. Stay hard.
IVANATOR - much love brotha! A little over 2 weeks later and I’m now working out every single day. Can run 5 miles again. Feels good man. I’ll be able to carry those boats soon enough!
David Goggins is a beast. Staring at his shoes for 30 minutes, all the pain and medical conditions. Then runs so hard he beats records. Let the evil bleed out of your body. Damn. They both share so much. We really need more honest platforms like Joe Rogan 👊👍🏻
I have probably watched this podcast 50 times no lie. My ex wife left me a few years back, it really devastated me. For the past 2 years I have slowly built myself back up and it was all kickstarted by this man right here. I started working out, pulled my head out of my ass and realized I have a lot of work to do on myself. Started by doing pull ups and exercise bike until exhaustion over and over. Then fell in love with heavy deadlifts. Went from doing 135 to 315 for reps in less than a year. But more importantly my mind has slowly begun to callus. I look up to Goggins, he’s the fucking man.
"If you never fix yourself, the next person in line gets the wrath." Damn. That is the one that gets me. I come from a long line of depression, abuse, and rage. I am so glad I never had children. I have not fixed myself yet. I needed to break the cycle of abuse. OK - check. No children suffered my wrath. Now I can fix myself. Thank you David Goggins. You are a true inspiration.
Thanks for not having children. It seems like a small thing but it's not. Everyone should have your mindset. Children are not toys or here to make us happy - they are a responsability. Huge responsability. We gotta make sure we have something good to give them before even considering being parents.
Some advice : Anger is a brilliant servant, but a terrible master. Find a constructive way to channel that aggression and you'll achieve great things. Running, cycling or Weightlifting will serve your purpose. Good Luck.
I’ve had sixteen surgeries and six on my knees. I’ve worked my way back into shape, and the pain and suffering is real. I was told I would never run again. I ran for two miles today, and no injuries. I just needed to see this. This is the greatest most valuable message I have ever found! This message is everything..
Thanks! I just always have had these type of thoughts. His message has reached its destination if its mission is just to reach a single person. I was afraid to challenge myself. I am not anymore.

Goggins story is a universal one that can be applied to every person out there. Everyone can relate to him as he is as real as you can get. Fantastic human being.
@@after_midnight9592so fucking wild to think about. Imagine scientists and doctors, teachers, and even janitors with this mentality. World would be a very interesting place.
1:48:05 when Goggins says "what motivates me now is that there are semi over 600,000 people looking at me saying 'motherf***in Goggins is somewhere out there. He's somewhere out there getting f***in after it.' And I am. So you ain't never f***in alone." I felt that.
Him saying that was profound to me. That was the story of my life. Had all my demons and through my work ethic I determined self worth. Then prefrontal cortex development mixed in also helped.
Literally the greatest podcast by David ever recorded. The dialogue was so eloquent and artistic and it hit on so many truthful points. I've listened to this podcast more times than any other and it never lets me down every time.

I started running back in 2019 (29 y/o) when I realized that I wanted to be in my prime in my 30's, 9 months in my process COVID started, gym closed, I started running 5K daily outside under south Texas heat 95-100+F, then 150 pull ups and 150 push ups, I pushed myself everyday, it became sort of addiction and I haven't stopped, it's been 3 years and a half. I'm not super strong but I feel way better than my early 20's, went through depression during the lockdowns but I didn't stop. Never heard of Goggins until now, and he's 100% spot on, do you want to be skinny or in shape? How much do you want it? Are you really prepared to go after it? Don't listen to the haters, I started hearing people telling me I was so skinny and I have a six pack and lift everyday, bunch of fat dummies in their 30's criticizing me. Don't listen to them, be in the weight you're comfortable with.
David Goggins said some good things. He can be quite motivational. However, I want to know if he has repented for killing Iraqi people? He joined the US armed forces, went to Iraq, and killed innocent people. Has he apologised?

Thank you David! You gave me inspiration again. My father waited 5 years for a kidney transplant. In 2014 he finally received his kidney transplant and was getting healthy for 2 months. In the middle of the night at my Mother's house he had a heart attack and died in my arms. I tried CPR until the ambulance arrived and failed in my head. He passed away in my arms. This was 2 months after I got rear ended by a 18 wheeler in a 9 car pile up. Between my Father and this accident, I had to rehab for 1 year and gained 60 lbs. Since February I weighed 280 lbs! I am down to 230 lbs now. My goal is 200 lbs. I will get to that goal! I appreciate people like you, Joe Rogan and others that inspire the world. Thank you so much Sir.
Damn. This really resonated with me. I’ve never heard of David before, but this dude is the real deal! I have been in a fucking RUT for a long time. And I’ve tried to get out of it, put in some effort that I am proud of at times, but I just keep quitting and going back to square one. This morning was another day where I woke up feeling COMPLETELY defeated. Laid in bed for 6 hours, didn’t even want to be alive. Came home from work and randomly decided to give this a listen. It’s 11 o’clock at night and I just did a small, short work out, that wasn’t much, but it was a lot for me. And I pushed myself hard until my legs and arms were shaking. Like I said, this really resonated with me. I often look for intellectual motivation. Something that makes me THINK I can overcome my struggles. This shit got me up off the couch, it got me to ACT. I can’t remember exactly what David said at the beginning, but something about him not being a theorist. I needed this right now. Thank you.

Stay hard.

Goggins made me shift 6 days training to 7 days. No rest only when sleeping. Time to grind! Motivational and reinspire my flame into a roaring blaze. 11 years in Army now boxing professionally on the side. What's life worth living if we aren't living how we like and want it! Thank you!

38:04 is exactly how I feel about a lot of those self-help books. Whenever Goggins speaks, it always comes off as 100% Genuine. That’s why I continue to listen to everything that he puts out.
We need a 2020 update from Goggins.
He could give you a 2026 update.
He just got second place in a big race and in about twee weeks some Goggins merch is coming out. Check him on Instagram. I'm getting myself a 'who's gonna carry the boats' shirt for sure.
One thing for sure, he's somewhere out there doing crazy shit...
He just ran MOAB again.
@@Robinzorz Goggins merch is already out. Released 2 days ago
He was on fire on this interview, he felt a lot more reserved in his first interview but he really got loose and laughed a lot in this one. Seeing that side of him was really awesome
And it's because he read so many positive/motivational comments on this podcast from his last interview
He's a true introvert. We're never comfortable the first time we meet anybody.
Agree mate felt the same when I watched this
Practice. He’s an introvert, and grew past that and continues to in his forties. Fuckin inspiring love it
My favorite was when Joe just mentioned the word rest to him and he just started to laugh like "yeah I remember rest, it's HILARIOUS"
"You can't ever be at a point you don't learn from people"
This is a humbled mindset.
I come back to this podcast and the other ones that David Goggins was on multiple times. This dude saved my life. It's amazing to see the community that he's created and everyone else trying to get better than they were yesterday. Stay hard!
When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, he had 1 missed call from David Goggins

Thank you.
Keep it up fella
Alex VanderGriend Keep going, brother! We're wishing the best for you!

This was a couple years ago. I had no idea who he was.
Kevin Houston On his Instagram he has a video running in Nashville dude, haha that’s funny.
And I just followed him on ig
Damn, that makes him even more legit in my eyes
My friend met him and took a photo with him having no idea who he was all he knew was he did 100+ pull ups and wanted a photo with him and I drove to try to see him but he wasn’t at the gym unfortunately. Another day
1:16:45 - 1:19:00 Is the sequence that changed it all for me forever. As someone looking for excuses and excusing my own actions my whole life, being ridiculed in such a funny yet truthful way is very refreshing.
This guy is unbelievable!! I never had a “hero” before in my life. I’m 37 and just found him. Love this man
I grew up the same way..drugs,alcohol, violence, screaming,fighting,..but i made it through all that shit and raised 2 boys that are incredibly smart and respectful and been married for 24 yrs and a had a job since i was 19..your mind can overcome more than you think.
Very modest
Good for you for bucking the trend. It’s okay to be proud of that shit 👍🏼
so a regular teen with a family and a job as an adult? wow, goggins 2! nice man

Props amen!
Retired Navy Seal..... this guy looks like hes 30 damn. Thank you for serving and protecting our Country sir!
I feel like he barely looks 30!
He's so badass he's reversing the ageing process.
The fact that he is a retired chief blows my mind, the Navy is known for taking years off your life, not for giving them. Shit, I'm 27 and the Navy got me my first gray hairs , jacked up back and a fucked up sleep cycle. He is still very fortunate to have done 20+ and looking/feeling the way he does.
I have been running 5 miles for a week just because of this man. You inspired me... Man. Running is meditation for me.
3 1/2 for me on a hill, then hit a self weight workout to top it, then another half mile sprint to finish. 7 days in and it feels great.
Are you still running guys?
Thanks to Goggins. I go for a run daily at 5:30 am in the morning. Trying to nail the studies (Med School) and also trying to overcome my anxiety and panic disorders.
Wow, I still procrastinate... but I didn't read his book
Same here my man! I'm studying hard to get into a medical school and overcoming my social anxiety
