I would say it's fine to shoot a 3 star mature since they don't have great genes. If they did they would be 4-5 star as mature so you are actually taking out a so-so gene animal by taking out that 3 stars.
For those coming from Call of the wild then u be supriced how fast u can buy the weapon/gear u want so there really isent any need to save up for the most powerful gun the 338 from the start. In fact if u wanna get perfect hunter rating u cant even use the 338 unless u intend to shoot from 400m or further away. This may change with DLC but the 338´s impact energy is to high even for moose so the bullet will destroy alot of meat giving u less cash for the animal. Ofc u dont have to track it for very long but thats at the cost of less cash from the animal so thats up to u if u wanna trade off.
Great point although its also worth noting that once you've bought all of the gear (happens faster than youd think) you suddenly find yourself caring zero about cash. I goof around switchingout mounts, having an 'oddball rack' section etc and still have to no longer pay attention to how much cash I have. Never thought Id be the one to say it but I wish I had more things to spend on or save up for :p
@@perrys5954 Yeah that is sadly 1 of the main problems with this game its to easy to buy everything u dont even need to buy ammo. By far the biggest issue imo that i very mutch would like to se changed is to be able to add notes in some way for the diffrent animal herds around the map. It dosent need to be super complex but just the ability to add some notes so u could note down if there happen to be a potential 5 star male in that herd. Atm u have to memorize what is in each herd or write it down outside of the game if u wanna keep track of it and in a game where animals grow there should definatly be a way to make some notes. Even more so becouse u the caracter are not just hunting there u are there to maintain a good healthy population so how the game shipped without any form of ledger or note system is mind blowing to me.
@@Shiftry87 Yah totally agreed! I'd love some mechanic of tracking a herds progress. Have put in time taking out low genetic animals and because its a huge map there is no way I am gonna remember that herd after I've moved on. I wish once you have observed the status of all current members of a herd that an average genetic herd fitness would show for them! The money-saver in me loves free ammo but as a real-life hunter I know costs of ammo are a reaal part of your budget. The cost of a box of ammo is after the reason for that hunter choosing that particular caliber/cartridge. I definitely feel the pinch on a box of 7mm ammo these days versus a box of .308 or something :p
Good tips! Just got thos game a week ago. I made the mistake of taxidermy and mounting my first couple of kills. Low rated kills at that. Then I wondered where all my money went. Should've bought a better scope instead!
When you are using hunting sense while looking down your scope at an animal it will glow red at roughly the drop of the bullet/ where the bullt is going to hit. Often this isn't moved that much from dead center until you start going out to around 300 yards than you will notice it lower from center. If you look at my video around the 2:35 mark you can see the red I'm talking about which is not part of the scope but is from using hunting sense while aiming at an animal. Hope that helps.
Ive never ever seen a YOUNG 5 star moose! That has to be footage from early bugs when things were showing up all as young right?? Thanks for the vid, it was good to get a sense if my knowledge was on par with the tips provided :)

I use a LG 27GN800 that's also 1440 monitor and a second 27in monitor from HP which helps when streaming.

do i need to consist between zeroing and distance all the time can you explain please?
