John, Awesome station. About a hundred years ago when I was doing laminate work instead of strips of wood to hold it off the sub substrate I used an extension cord. 50' usually worked and was long enough, you just looped it up and down and then when you were putting it together start pulling the cord. Ta da. I went into using that because I had a chip of wood fall off in the middle of the sheet and I don't have to tell you how hard it was to get out. I was born in the Jurassic era, 1946. You do some very nice work and it's enjoyable to watch you. Keep it up.
Thank you!!
I got several great ideas from this video for when my daughter leaves the house and I take over her bedroom to expand my work area. I also like the Delta miter saw and will take a look at their line when I make the move. Thanks
Your method to attach drawer fronts is genius. I've been a carpenter for 38 years and learned something today
Thanks for watching man!
yep me too!
Holly Moly.. Such a professional guy working with Wood.. no only is perfect the end work but the amazing Tools used for pull out this AWESOME work.. I saw a lot of videos with people working with wood and tools but nobody like you John.. SUPER SPECTACULAR WORK.. Well Done...
Thank you!
I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend. This is a Great saw ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.
Miter saws are great tools that make a mess regardless of how hard we try to keep the mess at a minimum. Enjoy the aroma from cutting new lumber. Clean-up can be enjoyable, especially after completing a successful project. Nice video for sure.
Thanks for watching!!
Magnet tape front on the hood is genius. Excuse me while I head off to my shop to make a new hood for my chopsaw!
Seems to be alot of heart wood??
Gotta say - this looks amazing. Great construction and great colour scheme. Very functional and practical and not too over the top with bells and whistles. Excellent build.
Thanks!👊🏼
Wonderful build. Enjoyed the clean approach as well as the satisfying attention to detail. Real nice to watch. Love your tools.
Thank you!
Very nice work. Great to see someone who notices and cares about the details!
Thank you!
I always mix up rails and stiles - now I will never forget “rails, like a hand rail” !!!! Nice off-the-cuff tip!
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Or......RAIL road tracks, are horizontal.
Stiles : Stilts.
I'm evangelis Maig Miji from Indonesia
Very nice. No flashy music with shameless plugs. Very informative and neat tricks. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
i don't think I've ever seen anyone use clamps to stabilize a boards vertically like that. So simple but so effective. The build is awesome but I also love learning little handy tricks like that from others.
Thanks for watching!
That centipede table is nice!
Offset router, cool
Tape and CA glue is a new trick.
Lots of good info here!
Thanks for watching!
Hey John, You've built up an adorable work station that I never seen like that so far!! Everything was clear in its process. Thank you very much for sharing that with us.
Thanks a lot! 👍🏽
I like your dust catcher for the miter saw.
The magnetic tape trick opened up my mind to a whole lot of uses that I hadn't considered before.
Thanks .......
Thanks for watching man!
Damn I'm impressed, I've learned a lot of new tricks. I've watched a ton of videos but I haven't learned this much from one video.
Nice. I’m working on my plans for my permanent miter box / work bench like yours. At the end where your sander is will be my table saw on rollers so its top will fill the corner but, it’s out feed will have cabinets for use. When I need the saw, roll it out and turn it around and move it to the center of the room. 👍. Nice job on the dust shroud too!!! Top notch bud. Top notch.
Awesome! Thanks for watching man!
Fantastic work John, I really enjoy how clean you keep everything, including your shop.
Thank you! The new cabinets should help hide the mess even better haha
Same here, great work my guy.
Great project. Always love to see craftsman take pride in their work. The only thing I would change is that T-Trak, Saw dust will get down in there and cause your stop to bind up and will have to be cleaned very often. From the looks of your shop, that may not be a problem though. Very neat and clean. Keep up the good work.
Yea it hasn’t been a problem yet! Haha with an actual dust collector and air filtration unit now, dust is pretty minimal
That's the most beautifully built stations I've seen. I wish I could do things like that. That's a lot of material and equipment.
Hi from the UK, I am in awe of this build! I'm planning on building my own very first bench setup, and this really inspired me, honestly, I've got to say it again, I am in awe of this magnificent creation! Thank you for sharing this with us. Oh and congratulations on being a father, I'm a new father too to a 5 month old boy, he is our whole world 💙
That’s awesome congratulations to you too!
@@JohnBuildsIt thank you 😊
Wow, when I started watching this, I was like hey, this is pretty cool. Then it kept getting better as the video went on! Subscribed. Great ideas in here!
Thanks man!
Phenomenal. I am itching to build a miter saw station myself just waiting for the garage to be available. I must have watched this half a dozen times already. Soooo soothing.
Hahaha thanks man!
This must be the nicest looking mitre saw station I've seen... well done man... Sub'd
I appreciate it!!
Very nice build concept and execution, as well. That offset base is the shizznit for laminate trimming. I have one for my ancient Porter Cable trimmer. One item you might want to consider if you do more laminate is a "no file" trim bit. When trimming the top surface of the laminate (sides already on), you can dial this bit in so there is ZERO lippage of the top sheet overhanging the sides. The bit gets gradually larger the deeper it is set. The regular "flush trim" bits with bearings can be a bit off, and you end up with a slight gouge (on face of the side piece) if the bearing is slightly undersized, or a small lip if the bearing is a bit oversized. This small lip is just big enough to catch something and maybe cause a chip.
The other thing about the no file bit is it has a slight chamfer built in. The depth adjustment is CRITICAL, but after testing on a scrap, you can cruise through a bunch of pieces and filing is almost non-existent.
Yea I’ve seen those! Definitely will grab one next time
A 45° chamfer bit works good too. Dial in the cut to just a hair more than the thickness of the laminate, & it gives a nice finished edge.
I love the level of finish on this. It look's great! Your detailed instructions are also helpful. Thanks for the video.
Thank you!!
So many good techniques; I came for the dust box, but also learned a great method for positioning and mounting drawer fronts. The screws through the handle holes is a great tip!
Thanks for watching!
Really Nice, I'm getting ready to do the same, (when I finish the master bath remodel), I really do like the grey and black colors along with laminate countertops. I'm inspired!
Thanks man! Really like this style, plus the durability of the laminate 👍🏽
Really good job, it was a pleasure to watch the process. Nicely cut, glued instead of double tape, the design and the appearance is cool.
Thanks for watching!!
Don't usually comment at all, but this was truly impressive. I watch a lot of the "usual" woodworking channels and this was the best build so far. Great video overall as well. Subbed and looking forward to more videos
Thanks a lot I appreciate that!
Wow. I bow to you. Your diy mindset and pragmatic work ethic is exactly what this wannabe needed. You deserve every good thing you get!
Im inspired. Excellent video production as well. Giddyup!
Thank you!!
Honestly, this is a rather impressive setup. Nicely done.
Now, if you could come and help me install my soft close drawers, I would appreciate it :)
I am building something similar in my garage in a couple of months. This is helpful. So cool to have the space for dust collection in the basement. So much better for noise. I just leave my headphones on all day in my shop.
Thanks for watching! 👍🏽
That's probably one of the cleanest built miter saw stations I've ever seen. How are you liking the Cruzer? Is it pretty accurate?
It’s been perfect so far man👊🏼
I’d go for the bosch glide 12
This is an incredible build!!! Make it look so dang easy!!!
Job Well Done... A man like you, who knows what he's doing, makes it look EZ !!!!
Appreciate it man👊🏼👊🏼
Nice. My miter saw is on wheels so I can move it outside and cut away. There remains ZERO dust control with a sled miter so I think nature should have the dust.
nothing like trying to wrestle a sixteen foot long stick of baseboard in a garage. I'll take mine portable and outside.
I really like your calm and humble demeanor and clear presentation of your projects. Now I see why the offset router base would be useful.
I appreciate that!
This is one of the best woodworking videos I've seen on UA-cam. You did an excellent job explaining why you did each step and had some great ideas that I had not thought of. Nice work with the editing as well!
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Man you made quick work of the painting, and the steps you did between 15:15 and 15:45 were brilliant.
Thanks for watching 👊🏼
Nice set up, what you built are probably the strongest drawer's man has ever created!
That is a genius mini paint sprayer booth too love it!
Nice work John 😉
Thank you!!
In the preparation of building my own miter station, I have been viewing design photos and videos for a couple weeks and found yours to be the most impressive. I love the design, color and quality of your miter station and your video quality was excellent as well. I look forward to making mine exactly like yours. Thank you so much for sharing
John
PS - I hope your wife was watching and buys you some more well-deserved clamps
Haha thanks for watching! 👍🏽
Super useful. Loved the vid. A great demonstration of why youtube is so valuable for spreading information.
Thanks for watching!!
Very, very nice and clean build.
Impressive woodworking man!
Impressive result. I love it!
Thank you! 👍🏽
1:16 - I like how you use that handiclamp to serve as a support for a temporarily freestanding board. These are the kinds of tips that save me time (and sanity) later.
100%! Thanks for watching!
New to the channel. I must say your cabinet making skills are top notch. Great job explaining all the details of the entire process. I couldn't believe you made all of it. What a nice shop you have.
Thanks man!
A no-fence fence is the way to go. Since I posted a video of my fence and Fastcap style stop block back in July of 2018 I've seen an explosion of this style.
Wow what a beautiful build! I will be doing this along with adding a router and space for my Kreg Foreman.
This is something I dream to build ...you see ...I'm beginner in woodwork..it look so simple ..hope I can do it like you do ..thank you
this is the nicest build I have seen on UA-cam. Good job!!!
Thank you!!
I have watched a few of these miter saw station builds. If I had to vote now, yours is the best. I must have seen a half dozen neat tips I had not thought of. I really liked your adjustment mechanism for setting the saw height. I need to watch that one again. Thanks John, excellent job. Now I need to check your videos on painting. You seem to have a good grasp on that too!
Thanks a lot I appreciate that!!
You have ruined my plans on what videos to look at.. seen so many about miter stations and thought it was enough. You proved me wrong. ;-) Really liked the idea with moving the sander out of the way. Reminds me that there might be several solutions that solve different problems. Different perspective is the key! Thanks!
Absolutely! That general idea is amazing for smaller shops. you could recess several bench top tools into it like that if needed
That was a nice build. I like the clever yet simple use of spacers to put on the drawer faceplates. Well done!
Thanks for watching!!
You do incredible work, I got a lot of good ideas watching your channel. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome, thank you!!
Probably will never do this but the clamp tip to the bottom of a piece of timber to hold it upright is super cool. Thanks.
Helpful for so many things👍🏽👍🏽
Your presentation was so good. The process and your narrative was flowing like a beautiful musical piece. I'm inspired, as I just completed my 200 Sq ft shop, and can't wait to "furnish" it...
I appreciate that!!
One of the better shop builds I've seen on YT. Really nice work!
I appreciate that!!
Great video and tutorial. Also, the way you list every product you use in the notes is crazy helpful so thank you very much for taking the time to do that. Great build project - really well thought out and executed. Perfectly explained along the way too. Thank you. Cheers from Wisconsin.
I appreciate that, thank you!!
Highly impressed with the thought to layout and features as well as your workmanship. Big thumbs up
Thank you!
Well done...loved the drawer attachment and the magnetic tape
Thanks so much...really helpful
Thanks for watching!
Im am really impressed with your design and work. Great job! I'm hooked and subscribed. Time to catch up on the other videos!
Thank you I appreciate it!
Slicker than grease. Looks radical badical and inspired me for my new station I am setting up at work.
Great job, I’m about to start mine and gathering ideas. Doesn’t look like I’ll need to look anymore, this video was excellent!! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!!
Absolutely beautiful job start to finish. It looks like you left it free standing and somewhat modular in case you ever move.
Yep! May take 2 guys haha but still able to move👍🏽
for me this is the best miter saw station ive ever seen! specially the color combination! And more importantly its so easy to build, or you make it look so easy haha. Great job sir! Im currently browsing your other videos
Thank you! I love how it turned out!
Beautiful meter saw station. The laminate gives it such a nice clean look. Well done!!
Thank you! I agree, and super durable for a wood shop!
I'm not a professional, but wow you make this look better than any setup I've seen recorded. I'm super impressed! Not only is it functional, it looks awesome! Clean, crisp, practical. First time watching your channel and I liked and subscribed right away! Well done!
Thanks a lot I appreciate it!
Awesome cabinets, John! I love the paint job and the black hardware. It's pretty much what I had in mind for my own shop. Looking forward to more!
do you have a youtube channel? if you do, please send the link so that i can subscribe
Thank you! I love how it turned out!
@@mzansishandisi9322 not yet, but it's in the works!
Inspired!! I’d say more like jealous. I just learned more from you in 15 minutes then I have learned in the past 15 years. Thanks. You sir just earned my subscription.
Thank you!!
Dude, I'm not gonna lie. You did an outstanding job. I'm about to build me a miter saw station real soon, like in the next couple of weeks and I will be using a lot of your ideas. I never even thought about the ridgid sander pushing out and back. Liked and subscribed. Keep it up!!
Thanks for watching glad you got some ideas!
Я видел множество видео с подобным решением в организации рабочего места, и это на мой взгляд Идеальное! Все изготовлено и подогнано грамотно! Спасибо, что делитесь опытом! Я обязательно воспользуюсь Вашим опытом.
Majestic.
Your cabinetry skills are, well, top drawer. Just like the house you built, you make the process look so effortless. I know, it's an edited video, but the end result shows that it is an attainable skill. That's a good feeling for us weekend warriors.
Thanks a lot! It’s definitely attainable, I usually just learn as I go to! Haha
this is by far the nicest Miter station on youtube.
Thank you!!
Great job, I'm very impressed! I built one with Kreg tables and a Tigerstop installed on laminate countertops as well. I love how easy it is to clean the laminate! I'm going to use some of your ideas for the dust collection! Thanks so much for sharing!
sounds cool! thanks for watching!
The magnetic tape idea is awesome! I’m totally stealing that idea for my miter station build! Nice work sir!
Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
@@JohnBuildsIt you are welcome my good man
Best build I've seen. Impressive
Thanks for watching!
If only I wasn't renting, I would definitely want something like this. I built some plans from Ana White for my station, I can easily take it apart to move if I have to. But this is NICE. I'd definitely want to to laminate countertops
Nicely done. Admirable attention to detail for shop furniture.
Quality workmanship....very impressive....thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Very nice, enjoyed the commentary and the end result.
Thank you!
Real professional job John.
Thank you!!
Great vid., you do beautiful work. Can’t believe the number of good ideas I picked up watching you build this miter saw work area. You really did a nice job. This work area will speed up the process and aid you to achieve excellent quality of your work.
Thank you for taking the time.
Jack in Missouri
Thanks a lot Jack!
What great video. to the point, no drama. Thanks!
Thank you!
Wow. That is the best build I have ever seen!
Haha thank you!!
Wow! I'm green with envy for how neat and precise your work is. Fantastic job! Thanks for posting this video.
Thank you!!
You are so clever well organised. Was amazing to watch
Thank you!
@@JohnBuildsIt you're welcome 😊
Thank you very much for your time, very nice , take care
To make your pocket hole joints A LOT stronger, don't use screws. The stepper drill bit from Kreg is a 3/8 bit with a 1/8 pilot bit on the tip. Use a regular 3/8 bit that is long enough to go completely through both pieces of wood you are joining. An 8 inch long bit is good enough to work with material up to a 4x4. Clamp both pieces down to your work surface making sure you have foam board insulation or some other sacrificial material under your finish pieces. You can use the stop collar from the Kreg drill bit on your regular 3/8 bit to prevent that bit from going through your sacrificial material, protecting your bench. You can use the adjustable part of your jig, or Kreg makes a smaller jig that you clamp onto your work piece. Drill your holes all the way through both pieces of wood at the same time so they line up perfectly. Use a 3/8 dowel that you're going to have to sand down a bit to make room for glue, and drive it all the way through the pocket holes, trim and sand as needed. I got the idea from this UA-camr ua-cam.com/video/kKFlALWvVeY/v-deo.html
This is VERY Impressive. And a good build to watch. Great work.
Thank you!
I watched enough of these build videos to tackle my own. NOBODY uses laminate!. Now I'm gonna have to rebuild mine 😐. Awesome job!
Thanks for watching!!
Wow that's nice. I already had an idea how I wanted to set up my miter station but now I gotta go tinker with it some more after this lol. Amazing job man
Haha thank you!! 👍🏽
This was really well done, and I mean everything. I have that saw and I’ve made flanges and adapters to catch dust with a dust collector, but it still flies everywhere. And I wish I’d seen this about a month ago, because that little as in uncomplicated trick you use to dial in the height of your saw, you should see what I’m abandoning to do the same in my multi tool bench in making! Anyway, it was enjoyable as well as inspiring.
Thanks man! Yea it sure does throw the dust haha. Now that I’ve got an actual collector and not just a shop vac, the hood works amazing at getting most of it
Beautiful job John. You have given me a couple of ideas for my workstation. I hope it looks as good and is as functional as yours when I'm done.
Thanks for watching!!
This was amazing!. I want to build this for my shop.
This is one top notch miter station you've built. Thanks for posting; you've earned my subscription.
Thank you!!
Thank you for your beautiful work. 16 minutes in, the stop block that you made and you drilled a hole for the bolt to go through. When you tighten down the plastic knob to lock the block in place I don’t understand how the bolt works to secure the block in place
The bolt is in the track, once you tighten the knob it pulls the bolt tight so it doesn’t move
Well done John - both the carpentry and the video editing were really terrific!
Thank you!!
Love your channel John. Keep up the great work. Wish you well. 👍
Thanks for watching!!
Cool mate, I love way you set the your dust collection system
Thing is, with the smell, the chemicals do the same thing, you just don't SMELL them. Cool project. I love the Delta Cruzer and have owned one for a year.
