Very good and practical information! I have read quite many reviews and have watched quite many youtube videos before I pulled the trigger on my new range finder camera and lens. I feel I have learned more on this than the rest. Good job!
I actually bought my first Leica, I really enjoy it. I do plan on using it for a long time. First time I ever used a range finder and I love it. Previously I used canon t5i then I went with a a6000 then multiple a7 series camera, then I bought an x100v, xe4. Sold most and all I have is my Fuji and m10. It’s a different experience I never had. Matching the focus box is so fun. I’ve never shot manual focus in my life and now i feel like it makes me better and my thought process is better before taking the shot. Sometimes I go out and I only take about 10-20images all day but they are all quality shots because I think before I shoot. Since it’s manual focus I gotta think it through and pre focus before pressing the button.
One thing I’ve notice switching to Leica is minimum focus distance is 0.7 on a 35 so don’t think that a 35 will act like a 50 if you go closer like other brands
just took delivery of a M10P with the Noctilux M-50 f/0.95 and loving it! It replaces my beloved M8 which did well for more than a decade. BTW, I started on film with the Nikon F100 and later the Leica M6... film is great, but digital photography has gone way past what film can do.. I saw the results of the M10 Monochrome and there is no black and white film camera that can match it. As for handling, look at the Lims grips sold on Amazon... they're made in Korea, very high quality.
For me a M camera has always been most comfortable without any additional grips or thumbs-ups. It gives me the most stable experience and doesn‘t big up the body unnecessarily.
Making focus and aperture changes so often, my method of holding the camera is with two hands, with the weight held by the left hand and the right hand guiding the precise position of handling. I never understood one hand shooting on such a manual camera. (Maybe if you're catch as catch can zone shooting in a crowd). In an urban area, two-handed holding also a security issue.
You mentioned that the Summilux lenses are big(ger)… Although they are, they are still smaller than the competition. Like 85mm primes on Nikons and Canon’s. Still very “travelble” My main camera is a Leica SL with a 28 M Summilux and a 50 M Summilux… If I see your gear, i’’m very tempting on buying a smaller M11.
Got a question for m10 users. The photo is not automatically rotate in display mode right? You have to rotate the camera to view the photo shot in "portrait" mode?
Very funny video! Make a script to get hold on your messages. To improve your handling of the M10, take some anti slip tape and put it on the thumb support. That's a cheap but great improvement. I did it on my M240. I've a lens trio of 21, 50 and 75. That's a perfect travel combo. Maybe I'll go for a 90 instead of the 75. The 21 is just fantastic for indoor shooting and in tight spaces, but the 50 is my favorite. I've an EVF; very handy when shooting from a low position or for exact focusing and when you use R-lenses on the M. Good luck with your M10 and enjoy life!
Thanks for the tips! I have a 90mm coming in the mail, and the EVF. The EVF is probably a better solution for most people than the analog magnifier. I'm leaning towards a 28, 50, 90 lens combo, although I would be curious to try a 21mm. I have started to write down an agenda to make the videos shorter. Also, I found that I am shooting wide open a lot, and want more DOF, so I plan on getting a 50 Summilux in the near future.
The camera speaks to nothing, the pair of framelines is set mechanically by the lens. Lenses of 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 90mm and 135mm can be displayed in the viewfinder. If you gonna use wider lenses you get a feeling of what you will get.
Very informative, articulate and organized. Great stuff ! Thanks !
I really loved your video. Very helpful. Former 5D shooter headed towards Leica. Thank you. Just what I needed to hear.

Very clearly explained. It is difficult to explain rationally why one should buy a Leica M10. The experience of photographing is the key point.
Thanks for the support. First video :)
Love your explanation of this. I have never seen a video that explains rangefinders and I am super interested in them
Enjoyed the video. Have the 50Lux and 90 Elmarit M. Also a 25mm Zeiss. Thanks for the M10 handgrip video. I'm considering one now.

A couple of years later, are you still shooting with the M10? If so, do you have any thoughts now that you've had it for a while? Thanks!

“Gonna be a really quick video” 27 minutes later 😂
What role does the adapter connected to the lens and body play?

yes it will not rotate. It is better for it to not rotate as you can see the photo better on the full screen,
Maybe you also have to press the shutter release button when taking a shot. What a hard work in these times...
Great video, just wanted to mention, the M10 does not come in black paint. Only Black chrome and silver.
“This is going to be a really quick video”

Really quick really quick really quick
The M10 with the grip and the EVF basically ends up being a Franken-SL.
Do you recommend M11 silver brass or M11
Black aluminium both same price. Which one would you go for?
The black aluminum is cheaper and lighter. The silver is made of brass.

"This is going to be a really quick video" ?! . . . Half an hour ! LOL
err, you need to re thread your camera strap! It'll rub with the strap behind the round tabs!
The black chrome is very durable though. It will scratch but doesn't rub away.
Good job. How would you describe yourself in 4 Words? Oh, and happy Rocky Road day! :d
the pouch should of had an magnetic clasp instead of velcro...enjoy ur leica!
I like the sound of that.
short video...27 minutes long - great vid though!
I'm a rambler 🤠
yes, great explanation but needs to be shortened up
''Ok so this is just gonna be a really quick video'', 27minutes long...
