i said i'd let you know if i came up with anything to make the shadow clutch better, this trick my not seem like much but since the shadow clutch doesn't fully engage until the end of the throw this actually helps the clutch stay better engaged, i put a heavy return spring on the clutch cable between the cable hold down and clutch arm like the old bike used to have. the reason i came up with this is because i've made so many tweaks to my bike trying to the bike to run like a real 750 that i started to over power the stock clutch from the increased power. even though i have a new clutch and new EBC springs (which are supposed to be 15% stronger, sitting here i had just changed the oil and wanted to stall making the change. in looking at the clutch action i noticed the clutch arm wasn't going back all the way when released so i added the spring and now the clutch is holding again. i figured if it help my situation with an older clutch and springs it should help prolong the life of a newer clutch by helping it stay engaged harder, at least that;s my theory.......

Happy to help. How many miles on your Honda? It's normal for these VT 750s to slip a little unless you want to put heavy duty springs in there which will make a stiff Clutch handle. Happy to help. If your clutch is not slipping, I would not change the plates., within two weeks. It was the exact same thing as the original clutch. I broke the clutch plate 2 times and finally put it back together. A while back the pin that pivots fell out and I tried to put it back in aligning with the hole inside for the clutch cable. I installed it tested my clutch but did not adjust it yet. I started the bike, put it in gear and had this serious jerk occur and now the bike is stuck in gear. Of course I can't start the bike either. What should I do?

B- do you know how it is used as a belt dressing? i.e. is it brushed to increase tack, and if so how is that not just a band-aid instead of removing shims from a pulley or otherwise tightening it properly, or is there a legitimate reason to dress a belt?

I am, however, considering tearing it back down to the hub nut to make sure the torque is accurate and to index the nut. I used an impact to tighten the nut back down during the initial install, but was unable to get an accurate reading on account of not having a special tool. Hello! I have a 2015 Honda Shadow Phantom 750cc. I was riding it recently, stopped for a hike, came back to my bike and it was like the clutch sweet spot that gets it moving had shifted. I had to release far more to get it to engage with the 1st gear. Same for 2nd. I either had to release the clutch more or give it way more gas. 3rd and on seemed fine/normal-ish.
Removed, cleaned, and lubed the clutch cable. Placed the cable back on, and added the tension in there. Now i can’t even reach “the sweet spot” or get the bike to move altogether. It’s like it’s not engaging the disks. I added as much tension as possible, still nothing. I turn on the bike, shift it to first, and release the clutch lever all the way and it doesn’t do anything (ie it doesn’t die nor does it start moving).
Do you think getting new springs and clutch plates and doing what you did here will solve that problem?

15:12 is the "clutch lever" supposed to move up and down like that? I don't have any problems but was really curious/ worried. I've got a 2013 honda shadow phantom 750.

Happy to help. I like an 8th inch play on the clutch handle, so when you have your hand on that clutch lever and you pull it in. there should be an 8th inch free play at the handle and everything is fine. I hope that's what you were talking about. If not, let me know. Thank you for watching and all your support. Frog and toad. Ride safe. Have a great day. Hondas are great machines.

sorry to bother you but have a question, did you happen to save your old clutch springs, if so could you pass along the dimensions, inner, outer diameter, length and wire size? there has to be a spring for another bike that will work in place of the honda spring. i'd take apart mine for the measurements but it's my only source of transportation right now so i can't afford to have it down right now.....
