I do love this band. Definitely do Wolf Totem next. Another great one is the cover of Sad But True by Metallica. They also have a few great collaboration MVs as well🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 The 3 stringed "guitar" is called a tovshuur The horse-headed bowed instruments are called Morin khuur, aka horseheaded fiddle
Mother Nature featuring Lp is amazing and soooo beautiful, a bit different of their usual tone but its a must watch for sure. Loved your reation and looking to see more of you!!!
Glad you watched one of the their breakthrough songs instead of the newer stuff with American vocals. Saw them on a small stage, a theatre in Stockholm, just a few weeks before the pandemic hit in 2020. It was really, really entertaining. Seemed like every Mongolian in Sweden was in the audience :) I would recommend their other breakthrough song, Wolf Totem. The original, not the one with and American singer. Became a long comment again but bored at work and I just love your choice of songs to react to :)
These guys are awesome live ! Check out Sugaan Essena the instruments are horse fiddle (always a horse headstock, one string made of mare’s hair and the other of stallion’s hair) and the Mongolian guitar which has the shape of a bow and arrow
Wolf Totem is basically a War Cry and Yuve Yuve Yu is a Call to Action; their instruments are traditional Mongolian instruments and each band member has a Music Degree
The Hu also put out a good collaboration video with Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach for The Hu's song Wolf Totem. And The Hu also did a video for their song Black Thunder featuring Serj Tankian & DL of Bad Wolves. You might also like the metal versions of various songs that Leo Moracchioli of Frog Leap Studios does.
Wolf Totem is another brilliant one Metal Muse This song sounds almost... well (how to phrase it)... almost like a mix between dark gritty Mongolian Americana and Depeche Mode. So much fun.
The Hu are Mongolia’s biggest cultural export. They were founded in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, by four classically trained musicians. They combine traditional Mongolian chanting, throat singing and instruments with modern electric bass and guitar, to create something that is both metal and oddly hypnotizing. Their first videos posted on youtube in 2018 went globally viral, and today their videos collectively have almost 500x as many views as the entire population of Mongolia. They have done several international tours in both Europe and North America. Much of their music is about Mongolian history, traditions and culture. They sing about respecting their ancestors while also being modern. “Yuve Yuve Yu” is about people who mindlessly boast about their glorious past without doing anything to achieve greatness today. Personnel: Galbadrakh "Gala" Tsendbaatar - morin khuur (traditional horsehead fiddle); throat singing Nyamjantsan "Jaya" Galsanjamts - tumur hhuur (flute) tsuur (jew’s harp); throat singing Enkhsaikhan "Enkush" Batjargal - morin khuur; throat singing Temuulen "Temka" Naranbaatar - tovshuur (Mongolian lute); backing vocals They are joined by four additional musicians for live tours. Here are some of their most popular videos: “Wolf Totem” ua-cam.com/video/jM8dCGIm6yc/v-deo.html “Yuve Yuve Yu” (How strange, how strange) (you just did this) “The Great Chinggis Khaan” ua-cam.com/video/pD1gDSao1eA/v-deo.html “Shoog Shoog” ua-cam.com/video/dwr4SPK1_TY/v-deo.html They were commissioned to write a theme song for the Star Wars Video Game franchise, and even wrote an alien language for it: “Sugaan Essena” ua-cam.com/video/oJZfEh3EciU/v-deo.html They have also done some epic covers of Metallica. Here are two: “Through the Never” ua-cam.com/video/PvKyRd817ko/v-deo.html “Sad But True” ua-cam.com/video/QpxA_ZxGX_M/v-deo.html And finally, a collaboration with the great Lzzy Hale of Halestorm: “Song of Women” ua-cam.com/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/v-deo.html Clip from one of their recent tours, when I saw them live: ua-cam.com/video/3TAZlKZ9Yp8/v-deo.html
Great reaction. You definitely should check out Wolf Totem. They also did some great colaborations that are worth taking a look at: Song of Women feat. Lzzy Hale and Mother Nature feat. LP
Really enjoyed that, try Wolf Totem, you might also like the Wagakki Band who combine weston metal instrument's with traditional Japanese instrument's and vocals. Senbonzakura rocks.
I'm sure you will get several recomendations for this great band, but if you wish to see examples where East meets West, check out their collaborations with LP and also Lzzy Hale. Mother Nature and Song of Women. Enjoy !
That one's a bit more.. shall we say country sounding than their other music. But I do love the touch of modern life at the start of the video. I think you've already got some recommendations on more songs by The Hu. For some other kinds of folk metal, I would suggest looking into Bloodywood, from India, Feuerschwanz, from Germany, and Otyken, from the native tribes of northern Siberia.
Hi Dom, a great Reaction to a great Song. Well done :). The best Hu Song imho is "Wolf Totem" in the Version with Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach. Maybe you like to take a Look.
Suggestions for official videos from The HU: Wolf Totem ua-cam.com/video/jM8dCGIm6yc/v-deo.html This is Mongol ua-cam.com/video/4Y2gK4n35hw/v-deo.html The Great Chinggis Khaan ua-cam.com/video/pD1gDSao1eA/v-deo.html Sad but true (Metallica cover) ua-cam.com/video/QpxA_ZxGX_M/v-deo.html They have made a couple of videos of their songs featuring other artists. There is only one that - from my perspective - has become better than the original: Song of Women feat. Lzzy Hale of Halestorm ua-cam.com/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/v-deo.html For the following three videos I suggest this sequence as they tell a story. Black Thunder Part 1 ua-cam.com/video/3aguZjkVLaE/v-deo.html Black Thunder Part 2 ua-cam.com/video/MZ81-htej6E/v-deo.html Bii Biyelgee ua-cam.com/video/eb3ysMtu8t0/v-deo.html Almost all live videos from The HU I've seen so far had a poor sound quality, except these two: Covid-19 Relief Effort Fundraising Concert (1,25 hours, no audiance, good sound) ua-cam.com/video/ik5qhnqIZy8/v-deo.html Mercury Ballroom FULL CONCERT (1,5 hours, good performance, acceptable sound) ua-cam.com/video/p1n3mvYX1xg/v-deo.html These would of course be to long to react to. But maybe you want to pick out a certain song from those concerts to react to them playing live. Have fun.

HI, you metallic muse - please listen to the other tracks from "The HU Band" - especially "Wolf Totem".
