    George Michael wrote, arranged, and produced the majority of his music by himself and I feel like that is overlooked by many

      I actually didn’t know he arranged and produced. He was always my choice for pop star of substance but now only moreso.

      @@MattFoleysGhost Not only arranging and producing, but he played keys, guitars, bass, and drums. Just to name a few, he played bass on Kissing a Fool, drums on Look at Your Hands, keys, synths and drum programming on most of his tunes, and guitars on some.

      Agreed, very overlooked. "Everything She Wants" is another example of a song that he wrote and performed entirely on his own (his first foray into that, if I'm not mistaken), and at the ripe age of 20.

    • @FunkSoulTV
      @FunkSoulTV Рік тому +2

      @@briancanfield2968 I believe that wasn't the first. He already did a few songs entirely on his own on Wham!'s debut LP. It's listed on the liner notes. He's a very underrated keyboardist and drum programmer (drums was actually his first instrument).

      @@ianstringer6618 i have a friend who listen to good music but since the first wham LP he is a fan of wham & george michael, i personally might find some three songs in all his career that i don´t listen but i admit that this songs are well done at all levels but i have to say i know most of his work due to this friend of mine being a real fan , he owns all ,even things that are rare he have it all , personally i never liked wham but i had to listen to all, i remenber him going to the beach with me and i was listening to a lp tribute to Black Sabbath and he liked the sepultura version of sympthom of the universe and he replayed that song several times while driving to the beach, at least he is a open minded person ,he likes all types of music if they are good, but personally i just don´t find it atractive to my ears, and i have a lot of music hundreds of cassettes, records, cds, minidiscs, reels. I have also worked as a d.j. ,when younger had a radio show at the weekends ,this for a lot of years, and still today i´m buying new records, cds, and even blank and sealed cassettes and minidiscs that i use mainly to do compilations as in the past they call it mix tapes , i remenber working in a club and putting sex pistols "pretty vacant" and mixed with everything she wants (one of the songs that as a interesting rythm and melody)from wham ,i did this only once, regards

    Back in the last century, I watched a TV programme about George Michael and his "pop music" career up until that time. George was in the recording studio discussing a keyboard part in one of his songs with the pianist. I think the pianist was Ann Dudley from The Art Of Noise. Ann rehearsed her piece and George asked her to try it again, asking to change the phrasing. Ann did as George asked and waited for his opinion. Now I don't know if George had any formal music training, but George said to Ann something like "You've changed some of the notes in those chords from the first run through". Ann said that she had! George had caught the changes purely by ear! George Michael certainly went up IMHO from there on.
    George Michael was truly a great musician and performer. All of his music that he left us is testament to that. RIP George. You may be gone but you are not forgotten.

I love how you broke down Young Guns and did not exclude his Wham! songwriting. I’d love to know {clinically} how his head injury around age 8 contributed to his musical genius? Yes, Yog is a hell of a musician, a genius! 💞 There was never someone like him before and there will never be another like him again. That's a fact. There are some great musicians out there, but all are lacking something. If they compose great music, they can't write lyrics, nor produce their own stuff, or if they write beautiful lyrics, they can't compose music and so on. And none of them has the vocal ability like George Michael who's able to sing in many different genres. All others sing just about one style. Writing sort of the same kind of songs. Sometimes it's as if they write 100 versions of the same song and can't even properly perform it.
    Thank you so much for this video. 💖
