Paul Whybrew still works for the royal family but in a new role. He was given a home for life in a cottage at Windsor Palace by Queen Eliabeth in her will. He has been hired by King Charles to catalogue and archive all of Queen.Elizabeth II's personal correspondence spanning her entire life and reign.

    • @lsmith9249

Our Monarchs don't give homes for life to staff for life, there would be no housing left for staff, houses go with jobs, in the past some old retainers had been given homes for life for their loyalty and this was all stopped by our Government in the 1970s, because we the taxpayers were paying for it
and its very unlikely that Paul Whybrew has been given access to any of our late Queen's papers, that job would be given to someone senior who had already seen them, which was her private secretary Sir Edward Young, he dealt with official and private documents, he was little more than a butler
and no one knows what was in our Queen's will, royal wills are sealed
the only that is that most things are passed from Monarch to Monarch
don't believe everything you read, royal reporters have said most of it is gossip and made up

@lsmith9249 It has been reported in every major news outlet across the commonwealth and most of the world, so hundreds of news outlets made it all up? So much so that some historians and universities have raised concerns about his not having a history or archival background and petitioned for a historian to join him. Now, he is heading a team to review all of her papers and decide what gets archived privately and what will publicly enter the royal archives. He is currently publicly listed as a member of the Master of the Household's Department in that position. Windsor, Sandringham, and Balmoral all have cottages on them. Who lives in them and for how long is up to the monarch. Not every servant would get that honor, but some do. As he would lose his position on her death, she indicated that she wished him to have the privilege to stay in his work assigned home for life. Likely King Charles would honor that wish. The cottages don't belong to nor are they paid for by taxpayers. They are private estates owned by the Monarch personally and not held by the crown. As she had been the monarch for 70 years, there were likely few changes over that time, and she likely made those decisions closer to the end of her life or in writing after her death. I suggest that you and anyone else who wants to spout off blindly go do some simple research and see.

@@harlowesadventuresinwonder1564 just because something is widely reported does not make it a fact and these stories originate from our tabloid press, and these historians are authors, Andrew Morton was a tabloid journalist, he is the one making all the fuss
it is always many years before some of a Monarchs private papers are released, King George VI hasn't been released yet
and Paul Whybrew was a page of the backstairs, its a steward or butler
he was not a courtier who are the senior staff
Windsor Castle is owned by the nation and the homes for the staff go with their jobs, our Government changed the rules in the 70s
because a lot of loyal retainers were being allowed to live in grace and favour homes
Balmoral and Sandringham which are miles away are the only properties
      personally owned by the Monarch
but houses go with jobs on estates, in the past when staff retired some were given homes for life, but that was senior staff and it doesn't happen now
and our press have said, it was our late Queen's wish that some of her ex staff were given homes, but ex staff have 3 months to vacate their homes
in fact the press complained about this when our Queen Mother died
there is no evidence of our Queen making that wish, the press have said it was in her will, but royal wills are sealed

Lady Hussey was a Lady In Waiting... and one of her jobs was to get information about people in the room before the Queen entered. So that should the Queen meet an individual, she would remind the Queen (if needed) who the person was and what company they represented (thus, sticking by the Queen's side). And in the case of the other woman calling Racism, she was fully dressed in traditional African Attire (even though she was from the Carribean). It was just a misunderstanding that got blew out of proportion.

Actually many of the Queen's house hold staff had passed their expected retirement age but had stayed on out of duty to continue to serve the Queen, I know for certain one member of staff who had come out of retirement to help with arrangements after the Queen's death. HM the King personally thanked them and gave them a further honour under Royal Victorian Order, which are honours that cannot be nominated for but are solely in the gift of the reigning Monarch.

Exactly. I would have responded to the Elderly woman that my ancestors were from Nigeria but my family came to the UK in blank year. You're right she is a cow. A person from London will ask a new aquaintace where are your people from and the response might be Cornwall. It's just their way of asking, not meant as disrespect or racist. People in the Southern U.S. or the Appalachian mtns. aka Hill people always ask who are your people or where are you from, it's just their way.

All our African ladies from their different tribes dress beautifully and neatly and you can see they take pride in their traditional dress. Fulani looked a hot mess and dirty. Sorry to say it.

So, is it 'racism' to try to understand other people and to respect their culture and heritage, and make an effort to be friendly and conversational and find out about them? Should we just show total disinterest?
That lady that claims to be offended, says she was 'born here' which is not actually true : She was not born in the Palace where the reception was held. I don't know where she was born, and sadly neither does Miss Hussey, after appearing to make an effort to be friendly. Maybe she was born in London, or maybe in Rhydygroes or maybe Leicester, Scone, or Llanharan.
Neither was I born 'here'. I was born in Barry, East Glamorgan, and I am proud that My People are from various places, bringing with them various cultures and heritages, including Leeds, Wales, Lincolnshire, Chewton, Caldecott, Wiltshire, Moray, Cork, and more.
I am sorry that this lady had no distinctive heritage or culture to be proud of and tell about to a friendly enquiry other than bland, uniform, boring, 'UK'.

You should update this to reflect the very god things that happened to the late Queen's staff. Lady Susan Hussey did nothing wrong or racist, and 'fell on her sword' for the family for appearances' sake. She was then welcomed back and became a Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Camilla until the Queen abolished that position title in favor of the title of Companion. Lady Susan has represented senior members of the royal family and also accompanied them to church, Royal Ascot and other activities whereas Ngozi Fulani, aka Marlene Headley, has been exposed as a fraud. You might also have mentioned that Lady Hussey was made a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in the 1971 New Year Honours, Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (DCVO) in the 1984 New Year Honours, and promoted to Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) in the 2013 Birthday Honours. She was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Version of the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal with 30-, 40-, 50- and 60-year bars, and in 2015 she received the Sash of Special Category of the Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest Mexican honour awarded to a foreigner. Quite a different picture from the one you painted here. "Tall Paul" has been entrusted by King Charles to be the person to go through all of the late Queen's private papers. He will be engaged in that for quite some time, and certain ones that he specified have already been made public, revealing actions and opinions not previously known outside a very small circle of family members. Your comments about Angela Kelly are also incomplete. Kelly was not just the Queen's "dresser," as you have described her, she made many of the Queen's thousands of outfits over the years and became an extremely close friend, including being in the Queen's small COVID "bubble." She moved out of her grace-and-favour apartment at the palace because King Charles purchased and gifted her with a house of her own near her family. Sir Edward Young was granted a life peerage as Baron Young of Old Windsor sitting as a crossbencher in the House of Lords. He was also made a permanent lord-in-waiting, and appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath and a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. Dame Mary Anne Morrison has been Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order since 2013, having previously been Dame Commander. As it turned out, due to the years' long renovation work now taking place at Buckingham Palace, Clarence House will remain King Charles and Queen Camilla's primary residence.

When Charles came to power, he had a long list of who would be transferred, fired or retired from the court, royal household or castle staff - with his morally unstable brother Andrew at the top of the list. He had probably been working on that list for about 50 years.
