- The conclusion of the Iron Horse Rambles video. This part has generally better quality, having more footage done with digital scans. Thanks to the photographers of the original material, and a special thanks to Walt Berko of Railroad Video for the Al Keller, Walter Schopp and George Meyer material, as well as the 1937 Rail Ramble footage. Sounds are from the following records: the Original Reading Rambles, Reading T-1 Retrospect, The Reading Rides Again (1983), and from my personal videos of 2102. Many tracks were matched to the exact locations shown on film, such as Port Clinton, Shamokin, various spots on the Perkiomen Branch, and Klapperthal Curve.
Great video, of the Reading rail ramble, my dad fired the second locomotive, behind the 2124, think it's 2102,👍, so prod of dad a retired engineer from the Reading RR.I am his son.74 yrs old now.👍🤠☕
It would probably be 2100. 2102 was activated when 2124 was retired.
Excellent! The footage from 1937 was spot on. Polished locomotives and well dressed fans. Thanks for putting all this together and for the great sound effects.
Thank you for these incredible historical videos. Reading Company was a class act, all the way!
Great video's I grew up with the Reading, my dad was a career man RR man. He loved his job started out as a breakman then fireman, then retired from the Reading as an engineer, I am so proud of my dad, I get a lump in my throat when I see those T-1's and G-3's cause dad fired those locomotives, even though the T'1s had self stokers🤠👍🛤🚂🚃🚃
Reading 2124 was really the first steam engine I remember hearing. My Uncle, a railfan himself, had a record called "Titans of the High Iron" that he would play when I came to visit. Still love that passenger whistle she carried! Thanks FM!
FM, you my not know this, but I am a (medically) retired police officer. Your videos occasionally capture a glimmer of police history, in addition to the awesomess of railfanning. For example, her, we saw a Reading RR policeman (on the train, in the gondola), and an LVRR officer next to the small switcher. Very subtle differences.
Awesome all round - another one knocked right out of the park!!!
WOW! It's great to see two Reading steamers double heading. Great footage!
My father was the fireman on the 2124 my dad retired from the Reading he also fired the last steam traim to N. Wildwood on the PRSL ln 1955.👍🤠🇺🇸
This is fantastic, loved the shot in North Wales ! Excellent job all round with this stuff.
To think this could or probably is gonna happen again with 2100 and 2102 is incredible. And seeing 2124 run in these videos is amazingly cool
Excellent footage of the Delaware river bridge.
Can you imagine riding the front deck of an N-2? WOW! More great stuff!
It was an N-1, the Rdg didn't have an N-2 class. Also the photographer was in a gondola being shoved, not riding on the front deck. Thanks for watching.
@@fmnut DUH! I KNEW it was an N-1, just missed with my typing finger! Gret stuff.
@@rogerhuber3133 yes, I have suffered from errant finger syndrome myself. I also sometimes hit the send button before proofreading, too.
@@fmnut Really enjoying the videos on the T-1's and the Rambles. So many good memories and the Reading whistles are super.
I would love to do a ride in a gondola behind an engine in open air like that!
Some tourist lines offer that option.
Here's hoping there'll be some "Return of the Iron Horse Rambles" excursions on the Reading & Northern once the 2102's restoration is complete.
2100 is gonna run again to
My Father fired the 2124 back in the 1960's so proud of my dad to be part of RR. Haistory
Is that 2100 behind 2124 in the final shots?
Yes. 2102 never ran with 2124. All double headers were 2100 and 2124 until 2124 was retired. After that they were 2100 and 2102.
where was the location of the thumbnail photo? (Same location as 20:42)
Pulpit Rock as seen from PA 61 bridge at Port Clinton. This was a favorite spot for photo stops/runbys.
Where is this location at 14:13? I saw this before as it was featured in the Mark1Video dvd The Schuylkill Shifter.
That scene and the one following are both at Zionsville on the Perkiomen Branch.
Excelenteeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
My dad fired the 21 24 back in the 1950's👍🤠🛤🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃
Thank's for the memories even though I am 73yrs.old it seem like yerterday.🙂
Where is Reading 2124 today?
2124 if I remember is at Steamtown
Steamtown at Scranton PA
My dad actually fired the2102 before it became part of the freedom train on the sast coast. My dad and I went to see the freedom train at Valley Forge pa. My dad talked to the engineer of the Reading 2102, my dad told the engineer how to get the most out of it . On of the best days of my life. Will always cherish those memories!!!!!!!
@@frankbaker9117 2102 did not pull the freedom train 2101 did
Great video! Is there an email I can contact you at about using some of your videos in a mini-documentary series? Thank you.

@@fmnut Thank you!
The whistle sounds so terrible, like it's trying too hard. Such a shame especially on such a beautiful engine.
Hey .. I'm first.
Look at section @ 22:00 clear crisp video .. keep this stuff coming ... I got me some cabin fever!
