I did this on my 2004 Toyota Highlander and it worked like a charm. Catalyst Monitor kept being not ready for almost 2 weeks. Drove all the way from LA to San Diego and back, still failed. Did 6 drive cycles of going at 55MPH on the freeway for 10 minutes, still failed. Did this trick literally one time and it passed in the first attempt. Thanks!!
I showed in the video ( this is good for older vehicles before 2008 and have a complete playlist for incomplete catalyst monitors ua-cam.com/play/PLDEbtVOPRC-h1BAzaWQ-6NSnmG0gwvgwP.html
@@RANDOMFIXMy 2010 Honda CRV car, of all its monitors, only 1 says incomplete, that is, not READY. ALL THE OTHERS ARE COMPLETE. READY. THE INCOMPLETE ONE IS 0S2. IT ALSO DOES NOT PRESENT A CODE AVAILABLE ONLY ON 02S NOT READY I CAN PASS IMPECTION LIKE THIS WITH ONLY 1 MONITORS NOT READY THANK YOU in New jersey
Man 1600 miles and tried every drive cycle out there. Randomly saw your video and tried in in front of the good will while my wife was shopping and it cleared!!! Thanks for this video!
It worked! Three mechanics gave me the wrong advice. So... I watched this video, bought a $22 code reader, and then drove to a bank parking lot. I put the car in neutral and revved the engine to 3000-RPM and held it there for 3 minutes exactly. I shut the car off and did the odb2 scan again. Catalyst = READY! Went back to the smog center and passed! (2008 Mercedes E350 with 110k miles) -- THANK YOU~
Magic trick!! Thank you so much!! I was desperate to make CAT ready for my 2001 camry to pass smog check, as I have spent many hours of on highway driving and put more than 500 miles without luck. This trick fixes the issue in just 10 minutes!! One note is that the 3000 rpm needs to be kept running for 4 mins to make my CAT ready. The BEST advice on the internet. Thank you so much again!!!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. After replacing knock sensors I drove 2000 4runner 1000+ miles, every weekend for 3 months getting up at 4am to drive so as to not attract attention with expired tag going slow on freeway following Toyotas drive cycle pattern. Got all, but catalyst monitor, then the 3 minute at 3K RPM finally did the trick. Thanks for taking the time to post this vid.
Thank you so much. After I drove 400 miles and wasted a full tank of gas without any results, I did exactly what your video said and it worked Just fine on my 01 camry thank you again.
I had a number of issues this year to get my 2001 Camry smogged. After some repairs to old hosts, cleaning EGR valve, etc, everything checked out except the catalytic drive cycle. Went back to the smog shop numerous times after 300-500 miles and kept being told "you need to drive it some more". Finally, the smog technician told me to look up Toyota's drive cycle to see what I may be missing. Ran that twice late in the evening hoping not to tick off any freeway drivers wondering why I was only doing 55mph and trying to maintain 35-45 on the trip back on a smaller road for both cycles. NONE OF IT WORKED. Came home, started looking and saw this video and after letting the car sit overnight, starting her up and letting her warm up, 3 mins at 3k rpm and the monitor went from INC to OK. THANK YOU for this tidbit of into! Now to get the car smogged!
I’m glad to help with your 2001 Camaro smog and thank your sharing your success. Just know that passing your Camaro in the future will get harder to set this cat monitor as it ages. Make sure you have a memory saver ua-cam.com/video/WvSIAQ3KpUw/v-deo.htmlsi=vaOrn21lHwKlZUn4 I have others say that they went 3k for 4 minutes when the weather was colder or very high mileage. Have a great Sunday
@@RANDOMFIX LOL, I wish I had a Camaro! Unfortunately, it's just another pedestrian Toyota Camry sedan I bought from new and racked up 286k miles on it!
@bedrock8 no shame in a Camry. Sorry my auto correct got Camaro by accident. The Camry is solid especially the 2007 to 2011 4 cylinder models. I think these were are the best sedans ever built. I sold my 2019 and regret it now. The new Camrys are not as wide even though they appear to because the lower base but the top toes in.
This information was absolute GOLD for me!! I was finally able to get my 1997 Saturn SC2's catalyst ready in literally 3 minutes. In my case, I drove the car at 3,000 RPM in 4th gear (it's stick shift) on the freeway. I then checked the car with my scanner via the OBD2 and it was ready. Further, it passed smog in California!!
David, thank you so much for the great feedback about it working on your 1997 Saturn SC2 ( cool car, best gm 4 cylinder in my opinion) Much appreciated
It worked for my 2004 Toyota Highlander I/M readiness monitors were all checked off but catalytic still incomplete. After a Drive cycle was 150 miles in 2 days it seemed hopeless. So I started the engine to let it warm to normal temperature then reved it to 3000rpms for three mins. Let off the accelerator and scanned it again while idling. Cat monitor was READY Thanks for the video bro, it was really helpful 👍👍
Wow! You are a lifesaver, it was a horrible long road to even find a reasonable used car & then it didn’t pass emissions here in WI. I did exactly what you did, step by step & I passed, can’t thank you enough for posting this!
Wow! I can’t believe this worked for me. I have a Toyota Camry 2001 and done the drive cycles but still fails on the scanner. Gave it one last try this morning on a cold start, kept the car in parked, stepped on the gas and held it steady at 3000 rpm for a little over 3min. Rescanned the car and the cat and evap drive cycles were cleared. Thank youuuuuuuuu! Very helpful vid. You saved me from thinking of replacing the catylitic converter.
Thank you so much!!! This worked for my 2000 Lexus rx300 on the second try. It has 220,000 miles on it. I had done several drive cycles which did not set the catalyst. I thought I might have to sell the car but who would want it when it won't pass emissions. It also was not worth replacing the three catalytic converters. This post made 5 years ago with 279K views. You are great. I am a lifetime mechanic (77 years old) and never knew this procedure. Thanks again. Ernie
Thank you soooooo much, I was going crazy over the fact I had a bad cat, once I tried this, it worked! Mechanics nor the smog check guy knew this, thanks man!
Thanks for the tip ! Doing this got my EGR ready, but the CAT stayed not-ready. I decided to go on the freeway and drove for about 3 minutes in 3rd gear with the RPM constantly at the 3000. My speed was on the average 62 mph doing this. This got the CAT in ready status !!! Did this to my son’s 2008 Mazda 3 which had the battery disconnected for weeks. So for those of you folks this tip did not work, try this variation. Again, THANK YOU.
For those who are not getting it, don't be discouraged! I tried about five times following all the instructions and it didn't work. I was frustrated, even with the engine already warmed up I decided to drive around near my house and then tried again, but instead of staying just three minutes I stayed almost six and everything worked! This video is a work of art and this guy is a genius! My car is a Toyota Camry 2000.
You seriously saved my life! I had to get an extension, drove over 300 miles and was failing multiple times. Did this once and it worked. I could cry. Sending you a little something on paypal as a thank you🙏
Hi Laura, Thank you so much for the great feedback and for your special present you sent. I really appreciate you and you taking the time to post your experience.
If you vehicle really has an issue but the vehicle has not detected it then I would take it in right away but if issue is really fixed then you can take it later. I hope that helps and good luck 🍀
My guy!!! Really was dreading doing the drive cycle for my 2002 Toyota Tundra v8 lmt. !! Plus where I live it’s always busy on the highway! So 1008 miles later , I found your video! TY! 3 mins at 3k rpm worked like a charm. Plugged in my OBD and BAM, CAT ready baby!
This worked on my 2014 Nissan Versa!!!! I did so many drive cycles and nothing was working at first. This worked on the first try. Thank you so much for this video!

Randomfix today you just earned yourself a new subscriber. I own a 2001 Camry, changed a new catalytic converter and drove for 4,100 miles mostly on freeways and street. It was still not ready for smog test OBDII kept reading {Incomplete} Thank you so much because tomorrow I was planning to go back to the shop where they installed that catalytic to complain and get it changed/replaced. Thank you so much coz a total of 10 minutes only fixed my car and ready for smog test.
I can not thank you enough for this tip. After paying for a new catalytic - wouldn't register in the car - drove 400 miles 2 tanks of gas, still one last warning wouldnt clear. Tried this thi am, yes with a cold start, and drove it straight to smog, boom, it passed. Ty ty ty, i was about to drive the dam car into a wall and call it a day😂
I drove my car days for the catalyst monitor to be ready but had no luck. Yesterday, I followed the instructions in this video for my 2005 VW Beetle (127K miles) and the incomplete code on OBD scan tool was moved to OK. Thank you RandomFix!
I have been trying to get this monitor cleared for 3 weeks now. I have tried everything, all tips and tricks. Your method worked. 3 minutes of your method cleared the catalytic monitor. 98 Expedition 4x4, 5.4l v8.
Thank you soooo much... just fixed my problem. I'm worried about my catalyst thinking if I'm going to replace it coz I drove 200 miles and it's not yet ready, but thankfully it's solved my problem. Once again thank you so much..
I tried a few times like the video, with car parking 3.000 rpm for 3 minutes, but didn’t worked! So read a few comments and I tried like they said! First I drove the car around the parking lot for 4 minutes at 3.000 rpm and my oxygen sensor turn OK on scanner, but the catalyst still INC and a tried again and nothing happened. So I drove in a high way for 7 minutes 55 mph and 3.000 rpm, when I stoped the car catalyst was ready!! This work on my Mini Cooper convertible 2008!! Thank you so much for help us!
Nah this is legit the best video on UA-cam😂😂😂 actually worked and I drove 300 miles prior to this video , 100 miles per hour nearly. Once I woke up and saw this video I immediately went to go try it, comments are not lying, well me at least. Went to go for emissions in Atlanta and it worked real fast
@chirfchimi thank you so much for the great feedback about the smog video. I am glad it was helpful and I enjoy sharing the little things I have learned from doing the hundreds of time at car dealership! Much appreciated
Thanks so much! I had to do it twice. But the second 3 minutes at 3000 rpms did the trick on the CAT monitor and I went and passed. Try it a couple of times! This was on a 2001 Toyota Camry. Thanks RANDOMFIX!
Thanks for the video, here's my story. I have a 1999 Mazda B2500, and had gotten my renewal notice 2 months prior. Hadn't gotten it smogged yet, and early on the morning of the 5th of July it was stolen off the street in front of my house. Didn't think I'd see it again, but it was recovered almost a month later. They broke the clockspring when they busted the ignition, so I had to order and wait for the new one. I had to disconnect the negative cable to do the installation, there by making the drive cycles necessary. They had stolen my plates as well, and didn't want to be driving 300 miles in SoCal freeways without plates. Less than 2 weeks left to get renewal done. I took it on a local 2 lane road for about 10 miles. That left only the evap and cat to finish. I tried the method in this video but cat still didn't finish, so I took it out on the same local road and drove it in 4th gear (it's a manual) at around 50 mph keeping an engine RPM of 3500. The cat cleared in about four minutes. Just passed smog this morning.
Thank you soooo much! This trick saved me from stressing out. It helped my 2000 Camry's catalyst to be ready for smog, while doing a few driving cycles could not get it ready. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much . It worked perfectly on my 2000 Camry . Appreciate it a lot . You are genius 👈 Update : Smog test passed in next 15 min :) Thank you again . You have made my day .
RANDOMFIX, Thank you so much for this amazing video? This really worked on my 2003 Toyota 4runner. I was failing the Catalyst Mon, the mechanic kept insisting the catalyst had to be replaced. You have saved me head aches and lots of money....
Thank you so, so much! I've been struggling with getting the CAT monitor ready. I've driven 524 miles, but it still would not complete. After following your instructions, it became ready, but this was after a second attempt. I was planning on driving several more hundred miles before seeing your video. It was so pleasing and rewarding to see that the CATALYST monitor turn from red to green on the scanner, just having it idle at 3000 rpm's for 3 minutes, after the engine warmed up, without driving an inch!!! By the way, the car is a 2000 Lexus ES300, with over 198,000 miles. Again, thank you so much for the video. God bless.
Notes: 1. Make sure to do this in a well ventilated area, definitely not in an enclosed garage. 2. Start vehicle from cold and let idle for 7 mins (keep an eye on the temperature). 3. Press foot pedal until 3,000 rpm and let idle for 3 mins. Update one year later: I couldn’t clear the catalyst after trying everything and wasting so much gas. I just gave up and after 6 months of driving occasionally (wfh), I got it checked again and the cat was cleared. I had felt it wasn’t gonna happen so maybe try that if you are stuck. I paid the renewal fee but was driving around with an expired sticker luckily nothing happened to me 😂
Randomfix your awesome I have a 2015 Honda crv , sensor one was replaced , it failed inspection because it was not ready, I tried all to make it ready nothing worked, ONLY YOUR INSTRUCTIONS WORKED TO MAKE IT READY. Thank you so much
Thank you SOO SOOOOO MUCH!! this worked on the second try for my 01 Toyota Camry!! 😩🙌🏽 I’m so happy this shit has been causing me so much stress! I took a 100 mile trip and it didn’t do anything, yet this 6 min fix worked like a charm. Much appreciation to you 👍🏽
Thank you so much for the great feedback. I've been called many things but genius I really like. Lol, seriously I'm glad the video helpful and it helped avoid driving around town for no reason that to set a smog monitor. Have a great day.
🎉🎉🎉 I have just spent a half a tank of gas in two days driving around with nothing working and I finally stumbled upon this video and even though I felt skeptical I tried it anyways. Sure enough I came back to the smog center and it fucking worked!! thank you so much for posting this video anyone who’s read this comment it absolutely works!!
Thank you bro you're a lifesaver, tried this on my 2000 toyota camry one day before my tags were due and it worked, had to do it twice for it to work but it sure beats driving around trying to get it to clear, thanks again just subscribed
When you say you did it twice did you let the car cool down overnight before the 2nd attempt? Or did u simply let the vehicle idle for a minute after the 1st attempt before repeating the 3min part where u rev it at 3000 rpm?
@@HardcoreUly after the 1st attempt i just turned the car off completely for a couple of seconds and then did the process again and after the 2nd attempt i turned the car off again and then checked it with the obd2 scanner and it was cleared
Dude you did it for me! My 2012 Fit failed smog for exactly this reason. I did the who drive cycle deal and nothing. Then I did yours and it worked. Many thanks for posting this video. Bill in Los Angeles
William, Glad to help you and I know getting the monitor ready for smog can be a real pain especially in Los Angeles and with heavy traffic. Thanks for the great feedback
Hey I also have a fit that’s failing emissions because of this reason, but for some reason my Honda fit automatically drops RPM’s after holding the throttle longer than 2 minutes when I’m in park. Did you experience the same thing?
00 Odyssey with 266k. Ran the same test holding at 3k rpm in park for 4 minutes. Readiness did not pass! Then got on the freeway and held it steady at 55mph for 3 minutes (no AC, no cruise control) and passed immediately. Just a heads up for Honda owners.
I can confirm this work with 2007 Nissam Altima. Here's what I did. Went to an empty parking lot . Turn on the Car, set it on park let the car warm up til the needle thing reaches in the middle between hot and cold. I turn everything on AC on full blast for 10 minutes. After ten minutes, I rev the car to 3000 rpm for about 3 minutes mine took only 2 minutes, you will know if you completed drive cycle if your car stutter. I did this twice to make sure that it was working. My Oxygen Sensor Monitor went from INC to Ready.
Thank you so much!! I had all my I/M ready but i was having problems with the catalyst, i did this while my car was already hot and it worked perfectly.
Man!!! I was skeptical. I kept trying to smog my 2002 toyota 4 runner. It didn't pass . They said wasn't ready. I came across this video and this shit really worked for me. Got a smog pass right after following the video. Thank you!!!!!
I can I leave the OBD scanner connected while doing this procedure or do I need to disconnect it. Edit: I left the OBD Scanner connected while driving and it worked. Also what finally got me to pass the "Catalyst Not Ready" was to do the driving where you go about 65-70 mph then let the car slow down on it's own without touching the pedal.
New cat installed 06 solstice. This didn’t do it for the catalyst monitor, so I decided to drive at lower gear at around 40 mph and RPM’s at 3000 or a little higher for about 10 miles. Tested and all ready to go. Thanks
I have a 2000 Yukon. This worked for me. What I did, was drive the truck in 2nd gear (number 2 on the dash) at 45 mph. This gear and speed was perfect for achieving a consistent 3000 rpm. I have a Bluetooth ODBII connected to my phone, so I literally watched the Catalyst Monitor go into 'ready' state as I was driving. It was around 10 mins of in town driving, which I had several stops in between. The reason why I drove until of doing it in my driveway is because my exhaust is fairly loud and I didn't want to disturb my neighbors. I just made a trip to get lunch a productive one, and it worked!
Hi bigthreewheeler. Could you please tell me what BT OBDII app you used? I haven't been able to find one that monitors the stuff needed for smog checks. Thanks in advance friend!
It's a 2007 i290 isuzu pickup with over 300k miles. I did the sea foam solution for catalytic converter where the 02 sensor is placed and it help alot..Thank you again..sir!
My catalys monitor would not come up and say okay after having work done on my truck because they disconnected the battery. I had been driving my truck with a bad misfire for several months because I couldn’t afford the replacement of the intake manifold. After finally getting it replaced I drove the truck for over a week and no luck with the catalys monitor. Then tonight I used a product called Cataclean. I Followed the directions and low and behold the cat monitor says ok! Omg I’m so relieved. I did try revving the engine to 3000 rpm three days ago after initially watching this video but it didn’t work for me. Anyway.. I just wanted to mention using the Cataclean in case anyone needs another method to try. Thank you for sharing your vid I’m sure you’ve helped many people.
Awesome thanks for sharing, I have 2 videos about cataclean. In the future as your catalyst ages even more, cataclean will even become useless for you so when that happens check out my video on how to buy direct connect catalysts for about the price of 5 bottles of cataclean. Thanks for sharing.
@@RANDOMFIX okay I definitely will. Any chance you could post that link on here for me? You’re probably right, I’m sure my cats will need to be replaced at some point. I never got a code for them, just a slow monitor. But I drove for several months with a bad misfire and sometimes two cylinders were missing due to water getting in the plug wells. I’d remove the coils and clean them out from time to time but my check engine light would flash sometimes. So they’re probably not in great shape. Again thank you for making the vid and sharing.
@luckyvids read the comments it works great for older vehicles especially Toyota vehicles. Don’t believe the brave boys behind their keyboard. It cost nothing and is to try for yourself
Worked for me after replaced cat drove more than a month wouldn't clear, today drove in a lower gear held rpms at appox 3000 for 3 or 4 min finally cleared. Thanks
My 2000 camry wouldn't complete the cat test, no precheck engine codes, Drove over 300 miles tried 2 different drive cycles i saw online and nothing. Scanned before I tried this method to make sure it was still inc And it was and this method actually worked. I don't think this method works every time but It sure worked this time. Thanks mane
Ronin, thank you for the feedback and congratulations on setting the inspection monitors for your 2000 Toyota Camry. This drive cycle does not work for some vehicle so I made a vehicle specific video for each make. 2 months of work my hope is that every can benefit from those videos. They can be found on the smog tips playlist.
Random fix you have earned my subscription I will be subscribing tonight my catalyst was not setting or not ready I tried the driving technique that you had mentioned that didn't set it last one was trying the bottle of the catalyst cleaner or whatever that is the bottle you recommended best $27.99 I've spent saves me $300 plus bill of having to buy a new cat I appreciate it very much like I said I'll be subscribing tonight thank you!!!!!
Hi Steve, thank you so much for the great feedback and I'm had you are doing the channel here. Much appreciated. Congrats on getting your catalyst monitor ready.
Yo, came back to this video to say you’re a life saver, I was able to get all my monitors to read besides catalyst, even drove the vehicle for 3 minutes around town keeping rpm’s at 3k and it didn’t work, I figured I’d just pull over and try what you said cuz why not what do I have to lose? And guess what? It worked 😂 on my 17 370z
Thank you for the great feedback and your success with your 2017 370z. It worked on the side of road because your vehicles catalyst was warm already. I appreciate you posting this your experience.
Should you keep your scanner attached so you can keep an eye on it in case it works before 3 minutes? So that maybe you don't have to run it the whole 3 minutes?
@@RANDOMFIX I ran the car twice for 3 minutes each time. It didn't work. What I found out that for many cars, the computer is looking for what's called a Drive Cycle. Each car has a different routine its looking for, like drive at 30MPH for 30 min, do certain full stop exercises, idle for 5 min. Each car has different drive cycles. The computer is basically seeing that you are driving your car regularly. My mechanic told me to drive my car on the freeway for 100 miles. That didn't work and was a waste of gas and time.
UPDATE !!!!!!!! THANK'S TO ONE OF THE COMMENT BELOW MY CAR PASS CATALITIC READY BUT I RUN THE CAR AT 3000 RPM FOR 4 MINUTES AND BOOM READY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Adrian, Great question. 1975 to 1995 will be emission probe test. as where 1996 to 1999 will b emission probe test and obd2 readiness tested. Vehicles 2000 and newer will only be obd2 readiness test.
I have 2000 Sienna with 150k miles I jumped my battery 2 weeks ago so didn't pass the the smog due to No Data. So I did drive cycle for 150 miles and got everything ready except for catalyst monitor So here is what I did : Cold start overnight Idle for 15 minutes Revved 3,000 rpm for 3 minutes (It would jump after 2 minutes but kept going) Drove about 2 miles (to Advanced auto parts to pick up the DTC (OBD2) scanner without turning off the engine) Connected scanner and drove to freeway At speed of 50 mph for 3~5 minutes then drove 45 mph for 2 minutes then the CATALYST monitor changed to Ready status. So I took it to smog station and passed in couple days after.
Idk if this did the trick but I own a 2002 Toyota 4Runner. I drove for 45 miles nothing. Pulled into a parking lot didn’t do it for 3 minutes did it for 2…. Drive down the street to my house 3-4 minutes CAT was ready 👀🔥👍🏿. So thanks!
BROO YOU SAVED MY LIFE! I TRIED THIS AND IT TURNED ON MY CAT MONITOR. PLS PLS PLS GUYS DO YOUR DRIVE CYCLES!!! I did mines for the first time after driving 500+ miles and nothing seemed to work until I did that drive cycle. Only took about 8min.
Let me know what happens and if you need anything please let know what you are driving and any specifics about the vehicle that you feel are important. Thanks and good luck.

Did it today for my 2000 Nissan frontier all monitors passed/ok except for catalytic converter said “Inc” (incomplete) held throttle at 3000 rpm for 3 minutes and 30 seconds gave it a quick rev and then turned off truck for 10 seconds turned it back on held rpm at 3,000 rpm for another 3 minutes and 30 seconds, gave it another quick rev checked monitors and they were complete thank you so much saved me lots of gas money and allowed me to keep my favorite truck with the 3 minute 3,000 rpm trick never in a million years did I think this was a fix / procedure for setting catalyst monitor I drove 500 miles attempting to set catalyst and ended up setting them in my driveway (-:
I just passed emissions. Did this more than 6 times. It didn't work. After trying this, what I did was drive on the highway at a constant speed at 55MPH for 7 minutes. Don't use the brakes. Let the car coast to a stop on its own. My catalyst monitor started working. Went right to the inspection place and passed. Wish I saw this sooner since I got 2 tickets since my inspection expired 4 days ago. Oh well. I can sleep better now 😁
Just wanted to say thanks. Although these exact steps didn’t work for me on a 2003 Toyota Camry, but I knew where you were going with this. On the Toyota Camry, there is a button on the transmission stalk to turn on/off the “Over-Drive” system. Once I turn that OFF and drove it on the freeway, the Catalytic Monitor went to Ready. Basically, I needed to get to a higher RPM (above 3k) on the freeway for an extended period of time and that monitor will clear. When the over-drive is ON, it would always hover around 2k, this doesn’t make the catalytic converter hot enough and so the computer will never say it is ready. So if you have a vehicle with this type of over-drive transmission, turn it off and go for a freeway drive and in 10 minutes of freeway driving it will clear. I guess if I had to do it again I could have done this same procedure longer and it might work, so instead of 3 minute just let it rev up to 3k RPM for longer.
You hit the nail on the head. You have to get catalytic converters hot and when you turned off the overdrive you made the engine work harder and it produced more heat. I didn’t recommend turning off the overdrive as 3k rpm on certain vehicles like Chevrolets, bigger v6 and v8 motors will be destroyed as those motors lose oil pressure. Thank you again for sharing.
Ramond, Thank you for sharing your results about getting your Catalyst ready. I know the a/c+defroster can make a difference, but you also mentioned the radio. Please share with me your experience and what's the make model and year of your vehicle? Many thanks _Randomfix
Thanks!!
Glad to help, thank you for the great feedback. I can only imagine how much you spent on fuel on the highlander from la to sd and back.
What exact trick?
I showed in the video ( this is good for older vehicles before 2008 and have a complete playlist for incomplete catalyst monitors

Got all, but catalyst monitor, then the 3 minute at 3K RPM finally did the trick. Thanks for taking the time to post this vid.
Thank you for th great feedback and it is much appreciated that you took the time to let me know. _Randomfix
Thank you so much.
After I drove 400 miles and wasted a full tank of gas without any results, I did exactly what your video said and it worked Just fine on my 01 camry thank you again.
Melvin, thanks for the great feedback. _Randomfix
oo hope is works on my 99 camry
Good luck and let me know what happens.
Make sure you have a memory saver ua-cam.com/video/WvSIAQ3KpUw/v-deo.htmlsi=vaOrn21lHwKlZUn4
I have others say that they went 3k for 4 minutes when the weather was colder or very high mileage.
Cat monitor was READY
Thanks for the video bro, it was really helpful 👍👍
Im that
Try that
I appreciate your constructive comments, thank you for the feedback!
Wow! You are a lifesaver, it was a horrible long road to even find a reasonable used car & then it didn’t pass emissions here in WI. I did exactly what you did, step by step & I passed, can’t thank you enough for posting this!
Glad it helped!
I'm in Wisconsin too. Having the same issue with my car
Have you tried what I share in the video?
@@RANDOMFIX yep. 07 Hyundai Azera if that helps. Same issue with cat and evap

Keep me posted. What caused for your monitor data to get lost or deleted?
Glad to help and congrats on getting that 2001 Toyota Camry ready to pass. Thank you for the feedback
Glad it helped!
Arsenic, thank you so much for sharing your tips and I'm glad your found the video to be help. Much appreciated 🙏
I'm going to try the same. Get on the freeway, but it in 3rd, hit 3000 RPM and switch on the cruise control. Hopefully it will work.
David, let me know how it goes. Thanks
Work 07 vw thx
For those who are not getting it, don't be discouraged! I tried about five times following all the instructions and it didn't work. I was frustrated, even with the engine already warmed up I decided to drive around near my house and then tried again, but instead of staying just three minutes I stayed almost six and everything worked! This video is a work of art and this guy is a genius! My car is a Toyota Camry 2000.
You seriously saved my life! I had to get an extension, drove over 300 miles and was failing multiple times. Did this once and it worked. I could cry. Sending you a little something on paypal as a thank you🙏
Hi Laura,
Thank you so much for the great feedback and for your special present you sent. I really appreciate you and you taking the time to post your experience.
@@RANDOMFIX Do you have to take it in immediately after doing this? Or can you turn off the car and take it at a later time?
If you vehicle really has an issue but the vehicle has not detected it then I would take it in right away but if issue is really fixed then you can take it later. I hope that helps and good luck 🍀
WORKED!! On my 2001 Camry with 189K. Tried all the drive cycles repeatedly, this is the only one that got the CAT ready. Surprised the heck out of me!

Randomfix today you just earned yourself a new subscriber. I own a 2001 Camry, changed a new catalytic converter and drove for 4,100 miles mostly on freeways and street. It was still not ready for smog test OBDII kept reading {Incomplete}
Thank you so much because tomorrow I was planning to go back to the shop where they installed that catalytic to complain and get it changed/replaced. Thank you so much coz a total of 10 minutes only fixed my car and ready for smog test.
Hi Vital, thank you so much for the great feedback and congrats on getting your 2001 Toyota Camry ready to pass!!
I can not thank you enough for this tip. After paying for a new catalytic - wouldn't register in the car - drove 400 miles 2 tanks of gas, still one last warning wouldnt clear.

Tim, glad to hear you passed and you got truck back. Thank you for sharing.
This worked the first time after trying the 200 miles and driving at 50-55 multiple times! Let's go!! You the man!!
I glad to hear that worked for you the first time!!!
Just of out curiosity what was the year and make of the vehicle?

God bless.
That Lexus es300 is one of the hardest vehicle to get the catalyst ready on. Thank you for your support and feedback.

Thank you so much for the feedback
Notes:

I appreciate your constructive comments, thank you for the feedback!
New cat installed 06 solstice. This didn’t do it for the catalyst monitor, so I decided to drive at lower gear at around 40 mph and RPM’s at 3000 or a little higher for about 10 miles. Tested and all ready to go. Thanks
Thank you sharing your story on your Pontiac Solstice

My catalys monitor would not come up and say okay after having work done on my truck because they disconnected the battery. I had been driving my truck with a bad misfire for several months because I couldn’t afford the replacement of the intake manifold. After finally getting it replaced
I drove the truck for over a week and no luck with the catalys monitor.

Sorry for the late reply! did you find a solution?
@@RANDOMFIX I ran the car twice for 3 minutes each time. It didn't work.
What I found out that for many cars, the computer is looking for what's called a Drive Cycle.
Each car has a different routine its looking for, like drive at 30MPH for 30 min, do certain full stop exercises, idle for 5 min. Each car has different drive cycles.
The computer is basically seeing that you are driving your car regularly.
My mechanic told me to drive my car on the freeway for 100 miles. That didn't work and was a waste of gas and time.
So how did you pass? What are you driving? What are you driving?
Worked like a charm....2001 Camry 4cyl with 232,000 miles.....runs like new
Johnny, thank buddy for the confirmation and congrats on getting that 2001 Camry ready to pass.
I did 2 tries for my 04 Sienna - didn't work, thanks for your video.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's good to know.
Hi, Peter, every car is different and these 2004 sienna and 4runners are a pain in butt. Try it for yourself and I'm here to help.

CONGRATS AND THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR SUCCESS. What are your driving and how many miles?
@@RANDOMFIX Camry 2001
Thanks sir I just got my 2004 toy rav4 cat code clear using your method 😂👍👍👍👍
What's an "older vehicle"
Hi Adrian, Great question. 1975 to 1995 will be emission probe test. as where 1996 to 1999 will b emission probe test and obd2 readiness tested. Vehicles 2000 and newer will only be obd2 readiness test.
I have 2000 Sienna with 150k miles
I jumped my battery 2 weeks ago so didn't pass the the smog due to No Data.
So I did drive cycle for 150 miles and got everything ready except for catalyst monitor So here is what I did :
Cold start overnight
Idle for 15 minutes
Revved 3,000 rpm for 3 minutes
(It would jump after 2 minutes but kept going)
Drove about 2 miles
(to Advanced auto parts to pick up the DTC (OBD2) scanner without turning off the engine)
Connected scanner and drove to freeway
At speed of 50 mph for 3~5 minutes then drove 45 mph for 2 minutes then the CATALYST monitor changed to Ready status. So I took it to smog station and passed in couple days after.
That’s awesome, thanks for sharing your success on getting your 2000 sienna catalyst monitor ready.
I’ve did it twice and nothing 😔
Did you try a 3rd time?
Right on this video helped me out boss.didn’t even had to run excessive miles to be ready to pass smog
Jose, thanks buddy for the great feedback about the smog video. What are you driving?
@@RANDOMFIX I currently have a 2000 Toyota Camry se 4cly.

So thanks!

Did it today for my 2000 Nissan frontier all monitors passed/ok except for catalytic converter said “Inc” (incomplete) held throttle at 3000 rpm for 3 minutes and 30 seconds gave it a quick rev and then turned off truck for 10 seconds turned it back on held rpm at 3,000 rpm for another 3 minutes and 30 seconds, gave it another quick rev checked monitors and they were complete
thank you so much saved me lots of gas money and allowed me to keep my favorite truck with the 3 minute 3,000 rpm trick never in a million years did I think this was a fix / procedure for setting catalyst monitor I drove 500 miles attempting to set catalyst and ended up setting them in my driveway (-:
Thank you so much for sharing your success on your truck. I appreciate your feedback and for letting me know.
Oh well. I can sleep better now 😁
Good to hear and thank you for the update.
@@RANDOMFIX Keep up the good work. Thanks again👍
Thank you ❤️
Just wanted to say thanks.
Took a few tries but it finally worked. The trick was making sure all the accessories are turned off, AC, defroster, radio, etc.
Ramond, Thank you for sharing your results about getting your Catalyst ready. I know the a/c+defroster can make a difference, but you also mentioned the radio. Please share with me your experience and what's the make model and year of your vehicle? Many thanks _Randomfix
You guys are lucky it worked for you. Didn't wrk for me. Been having this catalyst monitor incomplete on my 2001 Mazda mpv for years now.
Thanks for sharing and yes sometimes there is no substitute for a new catalyst.
thank you, you absolutely legend, my car finally passed
Glad to help, thank your great legendary feedback.
