The XP changes ruin the game for me, you don't get any XP for playing the game only from challenges and they're very annoying and forcing you to play in a certain way.
I'm pretty sure Overkill is aware that people don't like the new Progression System. And are looking into fixing it. I'm not sticking up for them btw. I'm just saying its good they're taking Player feedback seriously.
@@Clipper2018 in their recent stream they said that they will fix this much later and not in the next update. So, good to know that they’re going to do something about it but it’s going to take a while. I’m not playing until they fix it tho.
Yeah it's real annoying. Other than the server issues that are mainly gone now, thats my only real complaint. Im level 72 so im not exactly struggling, but i play alone and the game isn't remotely solo friendly. The only challenges worth doing for me right now are maps. I don't want to complete the most cancer maps on overkill loud solo, and if i queue public, i get empty lobbies 10 times in a row, followed by getting one guy that is absolutely useless and we just insta lose. Same for very hard. Right now i launch the game, try to queue gold & sharke or something, that exact thing happens, i get off. The game is super fun but its literally impossible for solo players to progress in the higher levels
I'm not sure if PAYDAY 3 has more "realistic" gun sounds, but I think PAYDAY 2 has way beefier sound effects for gun shots that make each weapon feel very powerful.
Payday 3 simplified too much where it wasn't needed. They had so much time to improve mechanics and design levels, but delivered so little in terms of content. Replayability is also a problem since all heists are story driven and have a timeline, feels odd going back to replay. And I can't believe they sacrificed all the heist preparation where you get to study and strategise.
They will be adding maps so the future can be bright or dark depending how they go about it. I find it having a lot of replay value I do a lot of fun stuff in it and don’t really care for challenges. Tied up every single civilian in a server without the police being called.
Your going from a game with 10 years of content to a game that’s been out for a week. That’s a fairly bad comparison in my opinion. There is literally only 1 heist that has a time limit on it so far and that’s dirty I’ve with the manager leaving, but if you know to get into the safe in the basement the manager never leaves even tho what’s her face still says the voice line. The setup phase is redundant when you’re bringing that equipment with you. They just moved spy cams and motion sensors to your load out instead of it being a separate favor. Also you can earn specific favors just by playing the game. Yea they simplified but the simplification they added help more than hinder. Let’s not be hyperbolic here and say that people really used heist prep as a way to study what’s gonna happen in the mission. I think you’re suffering from nostalgia goggles too much right now bud.
@@IIDEADBIRDII it’s not like they started to develop the game yesterday, this 10 years of content should actually be used as experience for the new game. The new game isn’t bad, I had fun playing with my brother, but it was so short and the heist were so story driven that we have no interest in replaying. And that’s not the feeling to have with a Payday game. My final opinion for now is that the game is cool, but could be so much more, and totally NOT worth the price they’re asking at launch.
@@leonardodelcorralrodrigues6125 they’re already saying we should be getting a Halloween themed heist in October, heist in November and heist in December. Explain story driven please. You do realize that 80% of the heists in pd2 were story driven too right? If $40 usd is too much for you then you should’ve waited til it went on sale. It’s kinda sad that people say this when the only people who had to pay full $40 at launch was those on ps5. Ya payday 2 was $20 when it came out but AAA games were also $20 cheaper at the time. Inflation happened as gamers we need to get over that.
Heists having a story has absolutely nothing to do with their replay value. Besides the context. Just look at PDTH. All of the heists, aside from Road Rage, can be done multiple ways. Full stealth, full loud, half-stealth with loud conclusion. Different routes for stealth as well. Then there's also maxing out the negotiation phase, if you're spec'd into the right skills; you can buy yourself a lot of time which feels really cool. The mechanics, aside from the awful challenge-based progression, are the best they've been in the series. Stealth & mobility in particular actually feel *great* now. I'm not worried about content in the slightest. What I want fixed is the UI, Infamy Points/XP progression and the lack of QoL features from PD2 (unreadying in lobby, buying assets in loadout phase, etc...)
I played 3 before 2 and honestly it felt like going from 2 to 3. While I understand the game just launched, the game just feels like it’s lacking the variety 2 has. You have to choose between fast and tank, and even then you aren’t that tanky with the “tanky” skills. I miss my hip flask and million miles an hour hacker build. It feels better in a sense, but it also feels way less fun.
I believe the same as you, payday 3 simplified too much where it wasn't needed. They had so much time to improve mechanics and design levels, but delivered so little in terms of content. Replayability is also a problem since all heists are story driven and have a timeline, feels odd going back to replay. And I can't believe they sacrificed all the heist preparation where you get to study and strategise.
payday 2 added those perk decks in like years into development. it didn't launch with your hip flask at all. This is why it's actually very difficult to compare the 2 games. Payday 2 launched very much like Payday 3 in terms of content. 2 also was very restrictive in your build in the beginning because in order to select the very last skill you unlock, you actually have to use perk points to spend in that tree. You can't just freely select perks. where pd3 is a lot more open once everything is unlocked. If you played PD2 at launch, I think a lot of peoples opinion on 3 would be different. The problem is Payday 2 has so much more content that it's literally a different game than what it once was. It's like comparing a fully grown adult to a toddler, PD2 being the adult.
Payday 2 had: Better gun sounds (weapons sound heavy and realistic) Better Gun animations (weapon recoil animations are more realistic) Realistic weapon models More serious heist atmosphere and environment Way more content Offline mode Hope they fix all of these problems in payday 3. Also what the hell is that weird green filter?
@@wallclock4648 they didn't start development for payday 3 10 years ago, starbreeze are not a triple A studio so they obviously don't have the resources to create dlcs for one payday game while work on the other
@@wallclock4648 its how the life cycles works for many online games: Gta online, red dead online, payday 2, overwatch 2 u name it. Online games usually start off with barely any content then dlcs and updates come over time get used to it
@@RBH75667 They still had years. It was officially confirmed by them, when the team split up. Most of them went onto make 3 while some where left to make more things for 2.
The difficulty of heists also change the objective’s slightly to change things up. Some examples being. extra keycard door, less public access, or extra guards in new areas. Good video.
if they change that to be more like payday 2, then maybe i will give the game a try. it REALLY discourages me from even bothering with payday 3 at the moment.
Payday 2's gameplay is still much better as well as the gun models and color grading. I dont know why everything has such a grayed our / greened out filter over it. And the gun size has been reduced by like 40% and the sounds of the weapons also sound like BB guns
You mentioned that codes and such in stealth constantly change, but this is only true if you start a heist fresh. If you simply restart the level, all codes and spawns are exactly the same, allowing you to skip finding codes/know where guards will be/where things spawn
@@Nick930 In payday 2 at least, on higher difficulties you can sometimes restart a mission like 10 times and every time it would change. I don't think that was a very good response to an objective flaw with the game (payday 3). Also you missed some very huge changes like no detection risk and the fact that armor works completely different in payday 3.
@@Nick930 almost religiously for high level stealth. even if you don't *need* to, you can still rush to the code, read it even if it goes loud, then restart to redo it in stealth.
@@Nick930i don't have payday 3, but when i'm stealthing a heist i've never done in payday 2 (or just one i'm not good at) i tend to mess up a lot, and messing up in stealth = restarting
@@TMWTOvk didn't learn from ANY of their mistakes. After "no mtx in payday 2" now they doubled down with 3 pre order editions, COD style weapons lvling, and a battle pass they now like to pretend in the latest interviews is "not in the works" because the launch of payday 3 was SO awful. No one is going to be dumb enough to buy a battle pass after they already sold dlc in their 80$ edition that doesn't even exist yet OR it's already developed and they basically cut content out of the game to resell you at a markup
What do you mean with "how complex most of the missions are"? Most of them have the same sort of objectives (get keycard, stand in circles, hack phones, find codes) and the heists have way less replayability due to less impactful level randomization. I think objective design and differences in heist approaches is one of the main downgrades- especially with the removal of in depth preplanning. Heists like "Big Bank" and "Golden Grin", aswell as most of the later DLC heists offer way more interesting gameplay.
They seem quite powerful atleast for their aoe. Once you're against later assaults you'll find they knock down some and kill some even if they are within 5m. Can be great in a pinch if you just need time or want to get enemies downed for an easy kill. Especially helpful on the truck missions where a group of 10-15 enemies will hop over the side of the bridge at once. Throw a nade at their feet and they are toast.
It's not a good sequel for me. It's like they never played payday 2 before developing the third. The progression is deplorable, the always online is a tragedy, and the lack of uniqueness when it comes to the 2 different types of objectives in every heist makes them basically all identical, not to mention after 7 years there's only 8 heists, no pre planning, no hiest music selection, the team bots are basically useless compared to payday 2. It's not a worth it game as of right now
I think there's a very solid foundation to build from here. Yes, its missing stuff like "heist music selection" though, thats a super minor feature to me. I think the "stealth" options are way better realized than what we got in payday 2. I ran stealth heists in payday 2 for this video and while they are still fun, they were super basic and straight forward. Hell.. i just walked in the backdoor and slapped a drill on the vault of a bank, then walked back out. It was either that, or shoot up the place and run out the same way. Payday 3 at least had multiple objectives set up per heist for stealth. The assault bits arent as exciting as payday 2 tho
@@Nick930 Music is sometimes half of the fun. Well, at least for me and a chunk of the community. The stealth maybe got an ,,upgrade" but loosing the depth and skill of knowing stuff is greatly missed i think. My personal view on the whole is they made a modern game with the new look and feel, while loosing the charm of the old games - Having fun through gameplay, not just shining for the sake of it.
As a long time payday 2 player, it gives me so much nostalgia when you said getting to the vault is next to impossible without being seen while on bank heist. Reminds me of how bad I used to be when I first started playing
One issue I have about the stealth mechanic is the seemingly endless stream of civilians that appear to spawn. I will sneak into the jewelry store and disable the camera system (with less than 3 minutes to secure the manager before she walks out) and manage to contain the manager and all the people in the store, and before I manage to move everyone to a safe location, more civilians just seem to waltz right on in while I'm doing so and the entire store is filled with civilians again. You cannot leave the hostages in the storefront or the VIP showroom because the minute you start picking loot up and cleaning it, the Lead Guard changes his patrol route to the VIP room and the storefront (On Overkill). I had this one tiny room with 50+ civilians because they just won't stop, taking away from my ability to secure loot and make it out of the area undetected. While I enjoy the crowd density, I do feel there should be a way to prevent civilians from just flooding the store while you're trying to stealth.
@@gameaap6405 there's still all the loot in the front of the store I gotta get to without being spotted by the shoppers and the one guard who walks around as well. I get that there will be some civilians who walk in, but it seems like there's no end to the amount of people that will walk in, and there's no guarantee that I can reach them before they run out of the store and trigger everyone out there as well.
@@TMCFacadeZthat’s like 100% a skill issue. There’s a skill that allows you to steal it right out from under them. The only thing you have to watch for is the guard and caera
@@IIDEADBIRDII So you're going to pick open all the boxes out front, and secure the manager before she walks out in less than 5 minutes. There's not enough time to do all that without the random preplanning favour that distracts the manager in the break room. I also don't have that particular skill unlocked yet, but you shouldn't have to rely on perks to complete a stealth mission. I've had it where I was like 3-4 bags left to clean but somehow I can never account for the randomness of the AI.
Matchmaking is an issue we need to know if we are gonna go loud or stealth..because we are trying to complete challenges but we cant if people leave when we are trying to go loud thats why crime net was good we can see the difficulty and if they are doing stealth or loud and how many players are in the lobby.
@@Nick930 I've often seen them just appear in a cloud of smoke, and they run at you from pretty far away, You used to (if you was careful) find/see them spawn in the sewers n things and slide under cars or jump ontop of vents and lay there hiding till you triggered them And the sound is very similar but I want to say is a lower pitch little more realistic and less anxiety producing I found
Heist specific favors arent randomly appear when selecting heist. Those favors are earned by completing heists with unknown chance. Different heist earned different favors for other heist. Like Rock the cradle specificly earns under the surphazeb specific favors and lower chance to earn other favors.
If anything it shows how great Payday 2 was for the time haha. They kind of lost all their goodwill though with endless paid DLC I think. Payday 3 looks kind of good actually but it's like going back to an abusive spouse hahaha
Payday 3 is alright but it has alot of issues for me personally. Lost alot of QoL that payday 2 had, health is useless and armor bags are the only worthwhile deployable
The paid heists weren’t as bad as your making it out to be by my count we got 25 free dlc heist, 8 vanilla launch heists, the rest were paid/sold in bundles. Hell some came in character packs. I think we’re gonna be fine in with pd3. Too many people shitting on the game and saying ”well pd2 did this”, but pay attention to that they’re really saying.
@@theroninryuu bruh the medic bag is the only one viable you can deploy on PD2 since Armor regenerates fast and ammo from dead cops can replenish your ammo on a gun more than the ones in PD3 If anything PD3 makes it more viable Since armor can't regenerate along with health and ammo from dead cops only gives you less ammo depending on the gun
stealth was a major improvement in pd3. loud however I don't think it was nearly as improved. I quite liked different swat and heavy swat variants as each difficulty felt unique. the addition of hostage rescue teams and sabatage squads was a nice addition. pre planning should've been in the game, there's not even a layout of the heist which I agree feels like a major step down from pd2. I love payday 3 but the xp really needs to be changed as I don't feel there's a point in playing a heist I like if I'm not going to get anything, and a bug that doesn't even give me weapon xp.
Honestly i feel like overkill kind of missed the point when they did loud for pd3. people like loud in pd2 because its so chaotic and the amount of swat variants that pd2 had really gave the game a ton of re-playability. also yeah pd3's xp is horrendous I have no idea how that progression system got approved.
I really don't like the progression system being held behind challenges in Payday 3. And now I've seen this video, I really prefer Payday 2's sound design. I didn't really think about it much whilst playing. Maybe I just have my music turned up too loud to notice 😂
It’s not completely tied to challenges, but it will benefit to do them. Idk if it’s a bug at this point, but I have had a few heists give me zero xp. As far as sound design goes vanilla payday 2 is blown out by vanilla payday 3. Do you have sound mods on? That could be painting your view on that.
It's really hard to beat 10 years of content and improvements. While Payday 3 doesn't quite beat that, I know these devs. They're happy to change things if that's what the community wants. Just look at the launch version Payday 2. 80% of that was completely reworked, making for a game a lot of us love. They're probably the best developers (that I know of) in that sense.
I've personally been enjoying the game with friends. Other than the matchmaking issues, my biggest gripes on the game right now are the questionable infamy progression system and the god awful menu UI. Don't get me started on the challenges window, I hated how it's laid out.
I definitely was expecting there to be only a small number of heists at launch, I think it would be bonkers to expect them to immediately match the 70+ heists in payday2. Stealth is much better in payday3, but loud is no more dynamic than payday2, which okay whatever since the loud is just as fun. What i didnt expect was the downgrades on skills, xp, preplanning, ui, and single player options. The downgrades here are dealbreakers, and generally dont outweigh the upgrades payday3 brings to the table, so I’ll come back to payday3 if they are ever revamped. Its a good game still, just not a good sequel.
Despite VR not being available at all in Payday 3 right now, I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned at all in this direct comparison. VR really added so many benefits in PD2, mainly being able to complete actions with one hand and still shoot people with the other. Something I hope to really see in PD3. Because I never really enjoyed Payday 2 until I got hooked into the VR side of it. Now I can never play the NonVR ever again because of how fun it is in VR.
Ive been avoiding vr coverage lately because 1: its a pain to setup on PC, and 2: i get really sick for several hours everytime i try to capture footage of it. If there isnt teleportation options, that vr stuff has me pulling the headset off within minutes
@@Nick930 Completely understandable. Motion VR definitely is something to get used to. It took me awhile to get used to non Teleport Locomotion, but once you do get used to it, it's a completely different game imho. Sneaking also is a completely different experience in PD2. Especially since you can peak around walls litterally and at least be a bit more stealthy. Though it's still jank nonetheless.
"Their faces look like something you'd see randomly generated in an open world game" *example uses 4 characters whose faces were modeled after real people
Doesnt matter if theyre modeled after real people. Models in the original tony hawk games are modelled after real ppl too They still look like random NPCs in racing games today
I hate the new face models for the heisters they look bad imo… chains looks more like his live action actor. Idk what the hell happened to hoxtons but that dude aint hoxton. Wolf looks more russian for some reason. dallas is ok.
In my personal opinion, these low polygons, low textures and those unique firing sound in Payday 2 age like a fine wine. It's like you know it belongs to Payday 2 as soon as you saw it
That was a bit mean to call Payday 2's Wolf model a placeholder looking model. Wolf was based off of Ulf Andersson in both voice and model. You basically just said Ulf looks like a generic placeholder NPC.
As a long time Payday 2 player, it's kind of disappointing seeing what potential was wasted with 3. I was expecting a lot more. The nuance and complexity in the base systems is gone and stealth doesn't feel like what you'd imagine Payday stealth to be like since it's been made so casual, though it isn't a bad thing since it looks quite fun. I might buy it when more content gets added. The consistent janky mechanics of Payday 2 had their own charm that is seemingly gone for a more grounded movement and stealth system. Looking forward to the future of this game. overkill pls fix xp system
I expected exactly that because Ovk is a bunch of greedy incompetent hacks. Who thinks that the matchmaking amount is so small that they have to change it twice to actually matchmake all people instead of having endless queses they knew how many pre orders there were, how many played the beta and how many copies sold overall before launch.
Thank you for actually being fair to it and comparing the games scope at launch to pd2 at launch instead of just saying "it doesnt have everything that pd2 has, its bad"
Crazy that ten years isn’t that massive of a difference anymore. In the 2000s, it felt like every year or two had a massive change in visual fidelity but now it’s like graphics in most games have plateaud despite still in no way looking realistic. No one would confuse payday 3 for real life, we’re still a long way from that and yet it feels like games that are really pushing technology and are optimized for modern hardware are almost non existent. We can’t really blame consoles anymore because a lot of the best looking modern titles look great on consoles, like spider man 2 and demon’s souls remake, devs just aren’t really optimizing like they used to and it seems like publishers are okay with things that look good enough but don’t push things beyond that.
I've been really liking the game and grind so far, but it definetly still needs a lot of QOL and content, but i can't be mad, game is half priced and compared to the 10 years of development payday 2 had. The future's looking good
Payday 3 sucks, I’d much rather play Payday 2. Weapons in Payday 2 sound more powerful which gives it more of a cool factor plus the combat music in Payday 2 is way better
The unique favor you actually get it randomly from other heists. Ex: Playing Touch the Sky, you can get other unique favors for the other heists. We still don't have ending screen reward as that one is put as QoL content iirc. (This info came from the dev steaming)
Besides the xp the thing that ruins payday 3 for me is the skilltree It forces you into specific playstyles, rather than there being a build for any playstyle there is almost zero variety with builds besides "loud" or "stealth" your either good at stealth, or you have heavy army and guns
Personally, I think the exp grind for Infamy Points right now really realllyyyyyy sucks, the new currency-to-crypto is not good, the sound design is very below average, and the reduced starting heists is a bit disheartening. However, I'm fine with the guns as they are - although the exp for some of the guns that have like 20 attachments could be reduced - and it's the best stealth gameplay so far in the Payday line (and funny at sometimes like getting led back to the front repetitively with no consequences).
payday 2 lacks npcs wich makes some level easy to stealth on the other hand payday 3 has alot of npcs but you can also do stuff in casing mode making it feel like hitman more
I hope this video provides that payday 2 and payday 3 completely different games, for those who uncapable of compare and still saying it's payday 2.5 / payday 2 mod / same as payday 2. Generic kid comments nowadays.
You forgot to mention shooting... Your accuracy's decrease the longer you shoot instead of having a skill based recoil like any other fps including pd th and pd2.
For me, if I had to explain the guns in payday 2, verse 3, but using a movie 2 feels like the movie Heat, whereas guns in 3 remind me of a more generic action heist movie
I don't want to PD3 to be like PD2 in term of style and direction, but a lot of QoL features are lacking and feel like another half-baked game on release for both content and gameplay aspect. The XP progression that forces players to play specific way or doing chore, Most objectives feel like doing same thing but in different map. Lack of teammate interaction and more. I'm disappointed that Overkill didn't learn much from previous entries and insist to implement design decision that nobody ask for. Yes, it'll get better overtime, but that's just another poor excuse and problem of live serivce game and things should be completed and functional on release.
Appreciate for being opnely critical and calling out the game's questionable design choices and decisions despite being sponsored Nick... Most CCs i've seen who were also sponsored never talked about them and only point out the pros and move on.
Idk why people are upset at the much smaller amount of content compared to payday 2. Payday 2 launched with little amount of heists and it has taken 10 years to get all the content that exists today, a brand new game won't immediately have a ton of new or old content to enjoy.
I think they should do a csgo by making all the textures and things updated but for low-end players they can also keep it like this. Like maybe a free DLC so its not a must
I my self love payday2 more simple looking characters because in the long run when your at a middle of a heist, you don't usely start looking at npc, players and building models when your at middle of a god damm gun fight. Also i think it is a let down that there are not as many maps and heist to playthrough but we need to remember that payday2 came out 10 years ago and got around 70 dlc that almost all of the had at least one new mission addet to the game. Btw anyone thats reading this i haven't bought payday3 yet because im not willing to spend 40€ on a game thats works only is the games servers work that also one big promlem in payday3 that the game has to played online.
I’d say wait a while before getting it, there’s not a good XP progression and servers can go down. Wait till a Christmas sale or when the game gets patched (Did I forget to mention there’s no offline play? Like payday 1 had this)
Is it just me but the anti-aliasing on Quality or Performance (I think its a form of TAA but Im not sure) makes the game a bit blurry. I wish there was a sharpness filter on top of the anti-aliasing
I think Payday 2 is far superior imo besides obvious graphical improvements. Every step PD3 takes forward a terrible decision makes it turn around and sprint in the wrong direction. Always online the xp system.
Servers situation has basically been ironed out at this point and it was all up to not being prepared player wise. 2 I don’t mind it because we will see less cheaters. Xp system just needs some tweaking. Ya it sucks to have to rely on challenges to level and if they wanted that to be done they shouldn’t have tied guns to it. Gun unlocks should have been a different system from infamy in my opinion with what they’ve said. Pd2 is no way better graphically without texture mods. If you compare 2 and 3 vanilla, 2 is definitely outdated.
@@IIDEADBIRDII true. the xp system is so bad they'll have to adjust it at some point right? Also from what I'm seeing I miss the old infamy system. When you max out in 3 you just stop getting xp right? Also did you misunderstand me? I was saying PD3 is leaps and bounds better in terms of graphics.
Most of the design choices for the mechanics is really a matter of preferences but as far as sound design goes, I have to say Payday2 got it pretty good. None of the gun sounds felt like Hollywood BS and the reload animations, although a bit slow in some cases were very decent. The new pump cycling animation on the 870 is kinda distracting and un natural looking. Might look cool to people who never shot a gun before, but to me this is not the way a professional cycles a pump shotgun.
Aside from the visual upgrades in Payday 3 Payday 2 will always be more fun just because of the sheer amount of chaos and havoc without having to learn a bunch of new s*** and the upgrade system is b******* and PayDay 3 you can literally just get attachments at the end of The heist if you're lucky and stuff to complete bulshit challenges
Even though the game lacks of content for now in my opinion, you cannot really talk about it like this and compare the two games like they were both finished. Payday 2 has eleven years of content and tweaking while Payday 3 makes a lot of thing differently and came out ten days ago, I’m sure most of the issues people had with it (not talking about servers there, that’s another story) will be changed in some way soon enough, it is a matter of time and the developers are listening closely to the community, the game is going to evolve. Though the guns in Payday 2 sounds way better for me, that isn’t something they can change I believe.
Thats what annoys me about this game though, i liked payday 2 a lot and would go back to play it all the time but have to pay $70-$90 for an unfinished game with little to no content makes no sense. I get that payday 2 was the same, but idc both games released in different times where now its unbelievable how they could make all that money and have years to work in this and still we are only gonna get 2 heist per YEAR is insane. This isnt 2013 anymore, gaming has evolved a lot more. Yeah hopefully the game improves but we cant just praise every game for potential that it might never even reach.
The thing is why would you make changes to something you already perfected Why can't sequels just understand IMPROVE AND INNOVATE Regardless of the maps the lack of immersion is subjective what matters is how fun the game is And personally removing the wacky stuff payday 2 had but somewhat not changing much of anything is so odd
I disagree that the graphics don't hold up much, they are great in Payday 2, even compared to many games today. Otherwise great review, PD2 rocked the gameverse amazingly. I played loads in the beta, and early Payday 2 was peak Payday, before the MTX took over.
I didnt say payday 3, i said the missions in payday 3. And yes, the mission designs in payday 3 lend themselves to more replayability than the extremely simple missions in payday 2. Payday 2s grindy nature just had ppl stuck replaying the same boring heists over and over for years until we finally got a ton of new ones. I cant tell you how many times i played f***ing "4 stores" Payday 2 overall is a far better game right now. But if payday 3 had 4x as many missions than it does, it would absolutely be more interesting for me than pday2
@@Nick930 to each their own. I prefer payday 2. But then again I also refuse to purchase payday 3 or anything starbreeze produces going forward. I only tried about an hour or so on a friend's account before he refunded his copy.
The overall audio, xp progression, menu design, bad replacement of Bain, the engine change... Idk man. *Lot's* of wax and polish is needed. Does not worth the price today. People reporting on the stutters: Welcome to Unreal(tm) lol. Most of the development time probably went to getting the engine working under their hands. I wonder if they are also limited by it. I hope something can be done about the game because as of right now, dissapointment. (Sadly)
Payday 2's gun shots sound alot better than payday 3, but at the same time it makes sense given payday 3 is meant to be more grounded in realism. To me it's like comparing the explosive and bombastic gun sounds of Killing Floor 1, to the gun sounds of Squad or Arma
Also "Crime Boss Rockay City" is a hybrid of "Payday 2" & "Kane & Lynch" vibes.....i love the "Bank Heist Genre". I can pull off things in rhose games i wouldn't dare to do in real life....lol. 🤔😂🤔😂🤔😂🤔😂
The XP changes ruin the game for me, you don't get any XP for playing the game only from challenges and they're very annoying and forcing you to play in a certain way.
no wonder Im still like lvl 26
I'm pretty sure Overkill is aware that people don't like the new Progression System. And are looking into fixing it. I'm not sticking up for them btw. I'm just saying its good they're taking Player feedback seriously.

You’d think they would have learned from halo infinite not to do that
Yeah it's real annoying.
Payday 2: touch, don't look.
Payday 3: look, don't touch.
payday 3 is minecraft spectator mode
I'm not sure if PAYDAY 3 has more "realistic" gun sounds, but I think PAYDAY 2 has way beefier sound effects for gun shots that make each weapon feel very powerful.
Maybe I've been using the wrong guns but Payday 2's don't sound very beefy to me
They both sound good to me
I personally prefer payday 2 sound but to each their own
honestly i disagree i love the sounds of payday 3 and they all feel beefy
payday 3 gives me a feel of actual bullets somereason it doesnt give that studio edited feel and more raw feel to it.
23:48 "I'm here, get the bags in" *Presses payday 2's "throw bag" button, which is now grenade* I see you also played a lot of payday 2 :3
The aggressive Sounds from PAYDAY 2 were so much fun back then.
@@leonardodelcorralrodrigues6125are you just copy and pasting this to everybody that says they like 2 better than 3?
payday 2 added those perk decks in like years into development. it didn't launch with your hip flask at all.
@@stevenzwiesler8085 Payday 2 still have a skill tree that at least wasn't basic
There was still a decent bit of variety at the launch of payday 2
Payday 2 had:
Better gun sounds (weapons sound heavy and realistic)
Better Gun animations (weapon recoil animations are more realistic)
Realistic weapon models
More serious heist atmosphere and environment
Way more content
Offline mode

The difficulty of heists also change the objective’s slightly to change things up. Some examples being. extra keycard door, less public access, or extra guards in new areas. Good video.
I think the most notable one is Rock the Cradle, where higher difficulties lock you out of the club entirely instead of just the VIP area.
The levelling up system really upsets me. I always hated this in games. I hope they change it in future.
It’s really the only weakness I see so far.
if they change that to be more like payday 2, then maybe i will give the game a try. it REALLY discourages me from even bothering with payday 3 at the moment.
from the future and its changed
the online only service in Payday 3 turns me off
yh its bad tbh and it dont help that the servers was f*cked for almost a week
Payday 2's gameplay is still much better as well as the gun models and color grading. I dont know why everything has such a grayed our / greened out filter over it. And the gun size has been reduced by like 40% and the sounds of the weapons also sound like BB guns
You mentioned that codes and such in stealth constantly change, but this is only true if you start a heist fresh.
If you simply restart the level, all codes and spawns are exactly the same, allowing you to skip finding codes/know where guards will be/where things spawn
Ok. How often are you restarting heists before you finish them??
@@Nick930 if you play on overkill then a lot
@@Nick930 In payday 2 at least, on higher difficulties you can sometimes restart a mission like 10 times and every time it would change. I don't think that was a very good response to an objective flaw with the game (payday 3). Also you missed some very huge changes like no detection risk and the fact that armor works completely different in payday 3.

@@theblackbaron4119mate what have u been smoking theres gonna be no battle pass it was confirmed by the devs
Heists like "Big Bank" and "Golden Grin", aswell as most of the later DLC heists offer way more interesting gameplay.
the thing i used to hate in payday 2 is how weak the grenades felt, haven't tried pd3 yet, but from what i saw so far, they seem to have fixed that
They def feel better
They are also very dangerous to yourself, which somewhat balances their use alongside the fact that your armor doesn't fully regenerate.
No they are just as bad
They seem quite powerful atleast for their aoe. Once you're against later assaults you'll find they knock down some and kill some even if they are within 5m. Can be great in a pinch if you just need time or want to get enemies downed for an easy kill. Especially helpful on the truck missions where a group of 10-15 enemies will hop over the side of the bridge at once. Throw a nade at their feet and they are toast.
They are better but you need to throw 2 to kill anyone
Sure, a lot of things improved but some of the most important things like Skills, Weapons, Progression, Sounds, Music took a huge step back.
You can lure out the manager by cracking the safe in the basement and use the phone next to the pc afterwards
You can close doors in the game right? They should let you lock certain doors if you find the keys for them
Matchmaking is an issue we need to know if we are gonna go loud or stealth..because we are trying to complete challenges but we cant if people leave when we are trying to go loud thats why crime net was good we can see the difficulty and if they are doing stealth or loud and how many players are in the lobby.
Amazing, I couldn’t wait for this one before getting it, your videos help out a lot, thank you , keep up the good work, Nick
funny at 1:40 you say pd3 characters have more personality and point the way they dress, and pd3 characters are just standing there doing nothing lmao
My biggest issues are the progression and the fact the changed the cloaker noise and a massive downgrade on their whole spawn and personality
The cloaker noise sounded pretty similar to me. I immedietly recognized it when he showed up. What's different about it and their spawn/personality?
@@Nick930 I've often seen them just appear in a cloud of smoke, and they run at you from pretty far away,
You used to (if you was careful) find/see them spawn in the sewers n things and slide under cars or jump ontop of vents and lay there hiding till you triggered them

I found it to be even more scarier lol
@@kylecopley5320then you missed them dropping from the vents. I’ve seen them drop from vents multiple times and on multiple maps.

Those favors are earned by completing heists with unknown chance.

@@theroninryuu bruh the medic bag is the only one viable you can deploy on PD2 since Armor regenerates fast and ammo from dead cops can replenish your ammo on a gun more than the ones in PD3
If anything PD3 makes it more viable
Since armor can't regenerate along with health and ammo from dead cops only gives you less ammo depending on the gun
stealth was a major improvement in pd3. loud however I don't think it was nearly as improved.
How to tell someone has never played payday 2 stealth. What a joke.
When Nick930 uploads, it’s always an instant click for me. Keep up the good work, Nick!
Why did I read this as Nick eh 30 💀
Ngl I thought you said Nick eh 30 at first 💀
I need my PayDay, Three.
XP, servers and low content makes it not worth it for the price. I already have it, but I'd recommend to wait till it gets more content and polished.
Biggest diffrence is you can actually play Payday 2!
Can't wait for the AC Mirage vs Valhalla video mate!
I’ll wait until it’s $2.50 on g2a like pd2 but has 10x the missions
@@gabebarnes1654so wait ten year?

@@OttoVonBizmarkie I’m still gaming on payday 2 and enjoying it so til then
I've personally been enjoying the game with friends.
70+ yea not immediately match it but wasn't there only 10 how many are there now?
Payday 2 > Payday 3
"Their faces look like something you'd see randomly generated in an open world game"
*example uses 4 characters whose faces were modeled after real people
Doesnt matter if theyre modeled after real people. Models in the original tony hawk games are modelled after real ppl too
They still look like random NPCs in racing games today
@Nick930 ye I agree
I just think it's funny
Especially considering the PD3 ones aren't
I hate the new face models for the heisters they look bad imo… chains looks more like his live action actor. Idk what the hell happened to hoxtons but that dude aint hoxton. Wolf looks more russian for some reason. dallas is ok.
I don't get why they did that to Hoxton, like it looks like a whole new character.
Ponytail can go, but the other changes makes him look very dull.
It doesn't matter if its "based on someone".
The old tony hawk skater models are all "based on someone"
Doesnt mean they look good
Finally an objective opinion and not just a "it's not PD2 so it sucks"
I don't have or played Payday but when Nick930 uploads...imma watch
why did you say i dont have instead of haven't? pls answer
The future's looking good
Some things change, but the great PayDay gameplay loop remains
as a Level 100 player in Payday 3 I'd say.
Killday 3 Cuzz you only get xp by doing challenges
Payday 3 sucks, I’d much rather play Payday 2. Weapons in Payday 2 sound more powerful which gives it more of a cool factor plus the combat music in Payday 2 is way better
The unique favor you actually get it randomly from other heists. Ex: Playing Touch the Sky, you can get other unique favors for the other heists. We still don't have ending screen reward as that one is put as QoL content iirc. (This info came from the dev steaming)
Almost 10 year gap and the game still looks 2 generations behind.
Imo the models are better than PayDay 2's since they had 4K textures, cloth physics and blinking
You guys are comparing a game that took years of updates to be what it is against a game that just came out
Besides the xp the thing that ruins payday 3 for me is the skilltree
It forces you into specific playstyles, rather than there being a build for any playstyle
there is almost zero variety with builds besides "loud" or "stealth"
your either good at stealth, or you have heavy army and guns
Personally, I think the exp grind for Infamy Points right now really realllyyyyyy sucks, the new currency-to-crypto is not good, the sound design is very below average, and the reduced starting heists is a bit disheartening. However, I'm fine with the guns as they are - although the exp for some of the guns that have like 20 attachments could be reduced - and it's the best stealth gameplay so far in the Payday line (and funny at sometimes like getting led back to the front repetitively with no consequences).
i do wish we still could buy heists with our offshore account so we could choose to be the host which is what i want to have back
Funnily enough, update #2 (basically, a version of payday 2 from 2013) still manages to be better than payday 3 in terms of everything.
Payday 2 still was really bad compared to how it is now, same with Payday 1 and will likely happen with Payday 3
payday 2 lacks npcs wich makes some level easy to stealth
on the other hand payday 3 has alot of npcs
but you can also do stuff in casing mode
making it feel like hitman more
Are you planning to do CS2 vs CS:GO comparison?
I'm sorry but what's the point of talking about graphics when comparing a new game to and old game
Only thing I don’t like in Payday 3 is there xp changes
Payday 2 simply needs next gen update
What payday should I buy there both on sale any suggestions I’ve never really got into it but played number 2 a little bit but not nearly enough.
I am legitimatly super keen for your Direct Comparison video for Spider-man 2 when the game comes out

In 10 years you should make it again, when payday 4 is coming out, compare the 3
I hope this video provides that payday 2 and payday 3 completely different games, for those who uncapable of compare and still saying it's payday 2.5 / payday 2 mod / same as payday 2. Generic kid comments nowadays.
i think payday 2 has more than 70 heists, around 78 i think
What did they do to the gun sounds!? My goodness!
The biggest difference is the servers not working.
Can you do an episode of direct comparison Crash Bash VS Crash Team Rumble
You forgot to mention shooting... Your accuracy's decrease the longer you shoot instead of having a skill based recoil like any other fps including pd th and pd2.
Can’t wait for Spider-Man vs Spider-Man 2 comparison
For me, if I had to explain the guns in payday 2, verse 3, but using a movie 2 feels like the movie Heat, whereas guns in 3 remind me of a more generic action heist movie
Is it just me or is it that when I restart a heist in PD3, I get almost the same RNG?
This isnt sponsored.
@@Nick930 Oh Sorry,I thought you were because you got the review code from the team themselves.
I guess it's completely different ?
Great job on this comparison. Added to "plan to play" list.
I’d say wait a while before getting it, there’s not a good XP progression and servers can go down. Wait till a Christmas sale or when the game gets patched
(Did I forget to mention there’s no offline play? Like payday 1 had this)
you should be rewarded to keeping guards and people alive but from my knowledge you can't complete a heist without killing a guard
Hey, Nick. Could you do a direct comparison on CS GO and CS 2? thanks, U the best
Might look cool to people who never shot a gun before, but to me this is not the way a professional cycles a pump shotgun.
you should do an update when they add unreal engine 5
in my opinion payday 2's reloads are superior.
Call me crazy, but I prefer a good baked lit game go a flat RT look.
The thing is why would you make changes to something you already perfected
Why can't sequels just understand IMPROVE AND INNOVATE
Regardless of the maps the lack of immersion is subjective what matters is how fun the game is
And personally removing the wacky stuff payday 2 had but somewhat not changing much of anything is so odd
This is the first payday my group of friends have been playing. Love it
Try payday 2 if you ever get bored of 3, i assure you, you will not regret it
I disagree that the graphics don't hold up much, they are great in Payday 2, even compared to many games today. Otherwise great review, PD2 rocked the gameverse amazingly. I played loads in the beta, and early Payday 2 was peak Payday, before the MTX took over.
Rotfl no Payday 3 does not offer more replayability.
I cant tell you how many times i played f***ing "4 stores"
Payday 2 overall is a far better game right now.
Idk, P3 guns sound kinda week. Some of them even sound like toys.
Also "Crime Boss Rockay City" is a hybrid of "Payday 2" & "Kane & Lynch" vibes.....i love the "Bank Heist Genre". I can pull off things in rhose games i wouldn't dare to do in real life....lol.
🤔😂🤔😂🤔😂🤔😂
payday 3 feels like a downgrade in every way, explains why payday 2 has 20k more players
Every way?! Not all lol
@@Freedomer3 Not every way but shure as hell *feels* like it. lol
@@Dr1ftop1a I guess because of the other cons being big it makes it like that
