great videos on these houses and love the nirvana intro
Many thanks! "My Girl" by Nirvana is a masterpiece.
calls it a masterpiece, gets the name of a cover song wrong. nice
ScrivaTV its called "where did you sleep last night".
Yup
ScrivaTV that wasn't the nirvana version by the sounds of it, sounds more like the original
"Balthasar Bolton had a Pink Pavillion made from the flayed skins of a hundred Sistermen"
That's... Absolutely disgusting but also fascinating.
An absolutely wonderful way to terrify and dismay your enemies, and some allies. Roose is cool and all, but Balthasar was the real monster of Bolton, similar to Theon Stark was the greatest of the Starks.
House carstark name was very clever how it changed over the years .i love the details in the history.its as if its real
Wolfgar0 King Karstark*
Great video! The stories of the houses of the North are fascinating. Thank you for the interesting and educational history lesson.
Thanks for watching!
It strikes me as odd that the Starks rule Sea Dragon Point. I feel like it should be another house there or maybe belong to the Glovers as it's part of the Wolfswood. I can't find anything to back that up though. Good work on the graphics, it's interesting to see the borders!
I think it's reasonable for the Starks to rule Sea Dragon Point. For it to be a great House it needs its on vast lands for resources and farming. Otherwise, it has to relied on trade and lesser Houses' lands to survive. Which ideally is quite bad if they are to rebelling against you. So yeah, it does look odd on the map since House Starks is consider mighty having lesser Houses for support (food, soldiers, and tributes) but in reality you would want your own lands as back up.
House stark actually also rules Glover lands. The Glover’s are not lords but masters of their land essentially landed nights on stark lands. Same for the tallharts, so the starks rule all the land from sea dragons point to the white knife to the long lake.
@@MM-xm5vx What is the proof of your claim? Sight the source.
@@MM-xm5vx Actually your statement is discredited when the Glovers did not support the Starks after the red wedding, Robert Glover said the Boltons helped them recapture Deepwood Motte and the Starks were gone as far as he was concerned, the Glovers were lords of the land and high lords of the Woolfswood.
@@rickstalentedtongue910 Are you... using the TV show as proof?
I have to say I'm impressed with the intro. It kinda has a Guy Richie movie intro feel.
Thanks! Let's wait and see his King Arthur: Legend of the Sword =) ; maybe he'll even use the same song (Which is great! All thanks to Nirvana!)
No, house boltons words are "we have 20 good men"
more like "Only dickhead's allowed"
"poisened by his enemies"
I still can hear that fool say 20 good men in the game
wow these starks sound important! they should make a show about them!
I like the how u added the waves sound
Enjoy!
Is the intro "where did you sleep last night?" by lead belly?
Great work. Tracking the various houses is quite difficult. You forgot house cassel and poole though. I think a couple others are around also, like house lake around long lake, though unsure if they died out or not. House cassel and poole for sure havent though.
“FOR THE KING IN THE NORTH”!
Iron from ice!
great video, very comprehensive. thank you
Is that intro Nirvana? Sounds very familiar but can't quite place it, if it is then you're instantly cool for using that haha
That's Nirvana =) "In the Pines"
Stark have so many banners
great videos, not sure why there are not more likes :-/
House Hornwood ftw
Righteous in wrath !
Earned my like, good job
Did not know Tommy Wiseau was such a big Game of Throne fan
Funny (not)
Haha don't worry bout it. Tommy Wiseau is considered a fookin legend and I admire the fuck out of the man. So dont take it as a insult. But Anyways nice video man, maybe not "The Room"good. But you can tell that you´ve done your research, good job!
The Northern Lords are absolutely spent manpower wise and with no Stark to Galvanise them they don't have the backbones to oppose the Boltons. After the narrative about the loyal and honourable North contradicting the rest of westeros. I'm a bit peeved at how they don't really react to a Frey presence in the North after the red wedding. I think George dropped the ball on that one unless he has something up his sleeve story wise.
Liked the Forrester Irontree on the Thumbnail, that's all
So Karstarks are also descendants of Starks right?
Yes
WICKED JOB!!! TY
Thanks!
House Stark also has family connections to House Strong where they split from.
Amazing video.
Great video
What about the house thenn in the books?
Well, I think that ark will be shown during season 7, briefly at least, so that show viewers could get a sense of free-folk integration into North. Didn't want to spoil that.
ScrivaTV ohh okay it would be great to see more of them. Keep up the good work👍👍👍
He did say that house
notso public occurances meant other "branch" of them, that appears later in the books, and hopefully in the show as well.
House Thenn isn't part of the North though, they're technically wildlings.
What does the land between whiteharbor and the barrwolands fall under.Neutral territory or something no house has claimed?
Kingsroad.
what was that one with the axe as banner called? "house Serven" or something like that?
Yeah, we already dealt with it, that Cerwyn is supposed to be pronounced as "Kerwyn". My bad.
love the accent and the rhythm hhhhhhhhhhhhh
Somehow nirvana can be used for asoiaf
But where is Coruscaunt or Tatooine? House Jawa?
why every westeros explainer video sounds like a broken english siri
His voice sounds like iddubbz doing his Eastern European accent
Flint Lock.... LOL
6:40 For a split second, a house icon shows up, a field of purple with 3 bags of wool. What's that one, and why not talk about it?
I think he said house Woolfield and there's probably no info about it other than the name, sigil and territories.
I would´ve advised Jon to annex all the lands south of the river from the Umbers, cutting their lands in half. They must pay for giving up Rickon, but shouldn't be totally destroyed.
Hornwood lands together with large new lands should be given to Larence Snow, bastard son who could be legitimized so the house doesn´t disappear. The Mountain Clans would be given the Whitehill lands, Bolton vassals who took part in the Red Wedding, Castle Highpoint should be raised to the ground. Starks should also give large lands in the west to the Mormonts, inhabitants from Whitehill lands would then resettle in the Mormont land.
Sansa is rightful heir to the Bolton-lands, so they should be added to Starks. I would advice razing the Dreadfort and use its stones together with those from Castle Highpoint, to build a new town, Cold Harbor, with thick surrounding walls and tradeport by the Shivering Sea.
I would let Karstarks keep their lands as they declared allegiance for the Boltons without knowing there were an alternative. But for remaining there when Rickon turned out to be alive, they should as punishment supply workforce and pay for the construction of Cold Harbor. Free Folk should continue settling the Gifts, paying their taxes to the Nights Watch.
Of-course most of above should be done if and when the Night King is defeated, no need to do it before. These actions would punish the Umbers who becomes weakened, but still remains as a House, while Hornwoods, Mormonts & Free Folk is rewarded for supporting Jon in the Battle of the Bastards. Mountain Clans, well i just kinda like the tough bastards.

All this is of-course the TV-version of GoT, also excuse me for my bad painting skills .. :)
Book version, lands annexed from Boltons and lords most likely to support them.

Fair enough for doing this video but all you've done is read all the books gathered the info and are just talking about it why does it seem like people are making it sound like you've made all this up and are really clever and amazing
What happen to him?
Bur Island
doe nut dut march iz known
Its not the accent, but the weird rhythm. Like a russian Siri
Great intro btw
It's a Scandinavian sing-song accent.
Russian sounds harsher.
Check Benny Hill sketch about Swedish
Nope, not Scandinavian. /Swede
It's when he says "voll" instead of "wall" and "volvs" instead of "wolves, '"voomen"for "women" and "vaildlins" for "wildlings". I agree, but it makes it more interactive somehow- dunno why.
Erik Lundgren Yes, Swedish to be exact. But it's one of the Scandinavian languages. Norwegian is quite close by accent.
Danish is in a different world :)
You forgot to mention the Umbers are rumored to have Giant blood :) .
Legend has it that house Forrester has wood in them.
@@hitzncritzmobilegaming9988 And there are rumours that boltons have skin.
And there are rumors that the Mormonts f**k bears 🐻
@@AbbaZabbaOlyFrn same could be said of tormund
So much detail for a fictional world ... amazing
Shoeb Khan yeah I just think that's only the North there's only six more kingdoms to talk about plus an entire continent and then there's the true north Beyond the Wall
@Aspelta It comes in pints??!!
And yet me in real life:
"What's your grandfather's name?"
"Don't know, really."
Just a pinch of the whole storyline
@@paulcoy9060 You had a whole half already!
You start by saying ''not that much is known about most of em'' but then talk in detail about em for half an hour xD
Of the 7 kingdoms, I'm pretty sure it's the one we know the most about (from the books of course The show barely talks about minor houses at all) Anyway, awesome vid! Still managed to learn a lot of stuff even thought I've read the books!
Nah I`d say the Riverland`s are better known.
Sad that they didn't include the Manderly and Glover plotting against the Boltons in the show.
Really? Can u tell me about that?
The manderlys and the Glovers are plotting behind the backs of the boltons, planning to swear themselves to Stannis, if Davos can locate and bring Rickon Stark to them, who they believe to be on Skagos as Theons former squire followed Osha as she took him there. Wyman Manderly only declares for the boltons as they hold his eldest son captive. Anyhow. Wyman has two Frey envoys at his hall in White Harbour. As soon as they sent word to release Wymans son from the twins, who got captured at the red wedding. Wyman kills them both, stuffs them into pies and takes them with him to Winterfell as he goes to attend Sansas wedding to Ramsay. At Winterfell he serves the pies to Roose and his frey allies while asking the bard to sing the song about the rat cook. During his whole stay, Wyman plots to aid Stannis in the upcoming battle by turning his cloak when the battle starts. Hence why I think the show should have given the cav charge at the battle of the boltons to the Manderlys.
kakan113 well i can see why they didnt include it
Would seem repetitive (more human pies)
And stannis dies fairly early
In the books Sansa is still in the Vale. Ramsay thinks he's marrying Arya Stark but its actually Jeyne Poole, Sansa's companion to Kings Landing and daughter of Ned's steward (can't remember his name) he got killed when Ned is arrested by Joffrey & Cersei.
Arya never do anything with any pies, they stole that from Wyman Manderly.. :/
Fantastic video, love the detail and backstory for each house, their boundaries and terrories is also very interesting to see. Very well done, look forward to seeing more!
My main issue with the HBO series is how underwhelming they depict the castles and such. CGI is cheap these days. What gives.
why don't you try and do it better
What gives is the budget that shows have to allocate over hundreds of hours of footage. No matter how big, they'll never get the amount of money that big hollywood productions do, and those aforementioned hollywood productions have only to account for a 2 - 3 hour long feature. Expecting much more than what you get in the show is simply unrealistic in the extreme.
All the budget goes to Dragon's
Nah cgi is too good if u look closley u will see cgi
CGI is definitely not cheap
tbh i only watched it for House Forrester. Iron from ice!!!
Zozo They got there cheeks clapped by the Whitehills lmao.
Serbian Crusader it’s true 😓wish we could get a part 2
Iron from Ice
Why did rob stark ever trust rose Bolton?
Why did the Starks spare the boltans in the first place?
Should have wiped out their house and used one of their own to take over the land like the Karstarks.
@@calebtimes453 remember tywin's word about bend ennemies.
Sergio Milho Because the andals invaded and it was just a necessity and after which they were somewhat loyal
Wondering Spirit Rob Stark was naive But A Good Man I guess he thought that the boltons would side with the North cuz it was this the Kingdom's versus the North he had no idea didn't even Grant him a death by Honor
So you're suggesting he should distrust one of his strongest bannerman because of the feud between their houses a couple thousand years ago? Robb didn't even know Roose, he needed every man he could get since he had no time. That's why the Northern army was so small with around 18k men afair. He could get a larger army around 30k at least, but the North is as big a continent, it requires more time to rally all of em together, time which he didn't had because he wanted to rescue his father. Distrust was nothing he could afford when marching into war
You missed out House Marsh, they are supposed to be a minor house sworn to House Reed I think
You forgot t mention that White Harbor sits next to some silver mines.
That's also a rrason as why they are rich.
Written down.

Aegon's War of Conquest done through TavernTeller's stories would be interesting I think, yeah.
ScrivaTV thanks i admire ur sincerity n passion my lord...on reviewing GoT n letting us to know the stories beyond story...
Wow.. i find house reed interesting..
Jeor mormont fought in Roberts rebellion and Jorah fought in the Greyjoy rebellion.
In the show selmy calls jorah out for fighting on Roberts side at the Trident.
Are you romanian or west european ?
Russian from Latvia.
Bear Island sounds a lot like Alaska's Kodiak Island, but with a castle.
I'd like to buy a W for $500, please. :-)
like your videos keep up the good work.
Thanks mate!
ScrivaTV the nights king is also said to be A Bolton
It's pronounced Kerwyn although it's spelt Cerwyn.
Good to know, yet I like Cerwyn more - sounds more interesting to me (to me).
Well, for god's sake! Since I'm not native English speaker, then maybe (just MAYBE) you could think that people in other parts of the world do pronounce words differently!? (and they do), so for me (S)erwyn sounds better than Kerwyn. Not saying it's right, it's just my pronunciation.
And btw it's always good to get a feedback, so IT IS good to know (no sarcasm), and knowing that I would probably correct my pronunciation, but still, you know... in my mind (S)erwyn sounds better.
ScrivaTV the name "cerwyn" is Welsh and so are alot of Lannister names like Tywin
How awesome are all these videos. When reading the books and war is taken place. I can really see strategies now knowing the exact layout of everything. These videos really make the book come alive for me. Thanks
Rip house forrester iron from ice
I can't be the only one who likes House Flint of widow's watch. EVER VIGILANT!
this is more interesting than my ap world history class
문민곤 if only or history talked about dragons and a huge ice wall.
Then either you're not paying attention or the teacher is shit. Or the way it's given to you is just inadequate.
Our History is pretty amazing. In fact GRRM heavily used inspiration from real life history.
Hi @scrivaTV, great video, thank you. I was wondering if you knew where House Hay is placed. I remember a scene on the show where Sir Davos and Stanis Baratheon were speaking at Dragon Stone, they were thinking of asking Houses to join their aid, and Sir Davos mentioned he'd ask House Hay ... Stanis then replied that "House Hay doesn't have enough men to raid a pantry" ...
Thanks! Maybe they meant House Hayford from Crownlands, the ones whose lands Lannisters wanted to take for themselves. But I doubt it. Must be some minor house. Maybe some Hayfords vassals who rebelled against Lannister rule.
Nice, thank you
The starks owning moat cailin is boarder gore
Not having read the books, I didn't realise how many houses and places are named (more or less) after real places in the north; Black Pool, Umbers, Boltons, New Castle...
Ok what?! The symbol of house Forrester is the symbol of Gondor, you know "The White Tree of Gondor"
Would you be doing the lands beyond the wall, lands of the nightwatch and Essos too?
Not in this format. Those will be a TavernTellers stories episodes.
Nice intro. Lead Belly cover by Nirvana.
I'm not sure but I think you missed house Mazin who I would have liked to have heard more about after the support they gave in the battle of the bastards but very good video gave me a lot of good information I didn't know keep up the good work And I'm definitely subbing to you
Enjoy!
Negan 77 Not very much info about hpuse Mazin. Show only, pledge to Jon/Sansa, their sigil is green and white chequey and they supplied 143 men to the B of the B. We don't even lnow their lords name. Maybe in the new season?
Michael Nightingale funny thing is we almost definitely see their lord in episodes 9 and 10. Theres a close up of a soldier in armour which is neither Hornwood or Mormont and he appears in episode 9 with all the other northern lords to declare Jon king. Also, I'm assuming they are somewhat like House Forrester and are lesser vassals within the Stark lands themselves since you can clearly see men in Stark Armour at BotB and Hornwood soldiers wear a different kind of armour to that as do the Mormonts.
Great video, especially while going to sleep. Your voice slowly made me tired, so thank you for that
The Starks control way too few lands, Not even the 1/7 of the North! From a feudal sense, it's ridicoulus, they are not supposed to be able to keep their kingdom together. Especially if they have no other incomes beside from taxing the peasents (mining, customs, etc.).
An example from our world: At the time of the High Medieval period of Europe, in the Kingdom of Hungary, which were ruled by the Arpadian dynasty (1000/1001-1301) at the time, the crown owned 2/3 of the lands of the country and the other lords were just as loyal and obedient as the houses of the North to the Starks are.
But, at the end of the rule of the Arpadian dynasty, the percentage of the lands owned by the crown shrank to 1/6 of the kingdom. This not just completely crippled the royal power, but also the so called "petty kings" began to secede and govern their lands as separate, sovereign realms.
The problem was later solved, but what I'mv trying to say here is that it's extremely unlikely, that Starks could hold the North together for a long time if it would successfully secede from the Seven Kingdoms.
Márton Köves Look the territory possessed by the english an french kings and you will understand that is perfectly possible and normal
a lot of the narrative is just word for word from the book. other than that nice work
Daniel Mun haven't read the books and don't plan to atm, so I'm glad of this videos existence
Fingers like the sausages"
Hahaha
Finally!!!! I have been looking for something like this for a long time. Thank you!

House Forrester is only mentioned all the stuff about their Fort and house is all created by tall tale it's not actually Cannon the name is though.
Are the Foresters canon?
xiLoveYouix I think so
xiLoveYouix Sort of? In the books house Forrester is mentioned, by name only, in a list of Glover vassals. Telltale pretty much made up everything about them.
As Thomas said, House Forrester is mentioned in the books but the Telltale game is more into the TV Show universe than the Book canon.
xiLoveYouix It's not really canon, so many contradictions.
xiLoveYouix it's canon in the show's universe, but not in the books
Back 4 years later, damn this these are great videos.
Good video! Keep it up! Excited to see some of the other houses and lands of westerns you havn't covered yet! Thanks!
good video. loved the map of winterfell. great job breaking it down
Thanks! Enjoy!
I always thought it was interesting how the Starks are the only ones that have an epithet pertaining to a season. Like the Lannisters say they're the king in the West, but the Starks are the only ones who have an epithet that predates the conquest of Aegon that's specifically pertains to an entire season, like if or when rather, winter comes there supposed to be the king. Like there's no King of Summer you know.
deathskilledreaper wtf did you just say
Oliver Korte idk did you read it? Do you not understand what I mean?
deathskilledreaper no I don't, and I would like to because it sounds interesting
Oliver Korte Basically all the great houses have a name like King of the west. But only the Starks have the name That pertains to a whole season or period of time, kings of winter.
deathskilledreaper well the Lannister were king of the rock not king in the west. They were the storm kings in the stormlands not season but weather related
Very cool beginning with "Where did u sleep last night." U had me interested with title and music. U could have left instrumental going while u or someone else spoke. Would have been cool.
House Forrester 🔥
"In da Norff" xD love the accent.
Hornwood 🗿
I wonder if we will see some of these obscure houses...Whitehill,woolite, Skagos houses etc
its so complete and good, i suscribe my friend
Enjoy!
Am I the only one who dislikes House Forrester in the Telltale Game? In the books they're a petty vassal of House Glover nothing more, in the Telltale game they're made into something more important than what they actually are.
Kieren Hayward I never really felt like they were too important, can you explain why you felt the way you do? i'm curious
salame 269 I guess he can't.
I'll speak for him, their existence as it has been described in this video exists purely just to cash in on people wanting a Game Of Thrones game, and will ultimately add nothing the stories of the books or show.
TwoSevenNine well yes I feel that the are a little to in center during the game. It's still a interesting story and I quite enjoy the game despite it's flaws.
TwoSevenNine yes but that’s the whole point and there isn’t anything wrong with it
nice one,i keep on fiding these videos about the different houses in GOT
We get a mere fraction of this in the series. It's like north = Starks + Boltons + insignificant smaller houses
Have you even watched the show? Some of the main plot points revolve around the Karstarks, the Umbers, and they visit the Glovers and the Mormonts.
I'm pretty sure I know all there is to know about Westeros lore but I can't stop watching these videos
I never knew there were so many Northern Houses!
There are many more, lesser though.
Is there a detailed map of harrenhal like that of winterfell?
